Rate this book
Fairy Godmothers can’t visit humans… …much less fall in love with them. Mila has broken both fairy rules, but for Lincoln, she’d do anything. For twenty years, Mila has secretly used her birthday wish to travel to the forbidden human world to visit her best friend—and the boy who saved her life. Now, he's no longer a boy, but a man that makes her stomach flutter and her heart pound. Using her last magical birthday wish, she confesses her feelings towards him, only to discover he's getting married. How can he love someone else? Lincoln has adored Mila since he was eight years old, but their relationship is the ultimate in impossible love. Now that he's twenty-five, he found the perfect human woman. She’s smart, determined, and attractive. Best of all, she’s not an off-limits fairy who can only give him one (perfect) day each year. So why does he keep thinking of the little fairy godmother he saved so many years ago? You’ll love this romantic contemporary fairy tale, because who doesn’t enjoy a story of friendship and love. Joynell Schultz spends her days working in a “reliable profession” as a veterinary pharmacist, which pays the bills, but isn’t nearly as exciting as creating alternative worlds writing speculative fiction. Tales of Fairy Godmothers Series:
Trapped #2- Another lovely, heartwarming novella about trust, love and kindness, and loneliness. Almost dead when saved by one boy after his brother captured the fairy in a vent less jar while hunting for bugs. Cared for by the human until she returns to her fairy world, she returns every year on her birthday seeking the human boy. Their friendship grows and they learn of each other and their worlds. On her second to last trip back, their friendship is shaken. Making her last wish to encompass four days in his world, they sort, work and love their friendship back. There's humor and sadness, but also joy in this well written, full of vivid descriptions novella. I contacted the author to review her books and received this through Booksprout. 5*

Hidden #1- A lovely, heartwarming novella about discovery, love and kindness, and loneliness. Searching for her baby's father leads a pregnant fairy to new adventures and learning experiences, and a vast change to her life, while she shares her godmother skills without her magic. There's plenty of humor and danger included in this sweet story. 5*
Tales of Fairy Godmothers Series end.

Angels of Sojourn Series:
Burnt & Broken - I had to read all the Angels of Sojourn books that I had. Ms. Schultz just has a way about her: her writing style; her realistic characters; her understated sexual tension between characters; and her infrequent use of vulgar language. This is a well written story complete with a well though out plot and believable dialog that moves at a fast pace. I appreciate that while the angels once were human, they don't behave as humans; sex, vulgar language and all the other stupidity. Her angels behave as angels, even the "tainted" or fallen angels are good, they're just in a gray area. Their mistakes were actually to help someone in need or pain. There is plenty of suspense and intrigue in this short story. 5*

Blood & Holy Water #1 - I couldn't put this book down without a fight. Another well written, well thought out story concerning an unusual vampire (I like what was done with this character) and a wingless angel. Enemies with the same goal, but different results gained, work together to solve the deaths of potential angels and murdered vampires, and the ties between the two groups. The characters are realistic and both have morals and ethics. The angel goes a little gray, but there's so much involved in her decisions in trying to help the humans and potential angels. There's intrigue and suspense, and the book moves at a fast pace. There's sexual tension, but no sex - thank goodness this author treats angels as angels not sex starved humans without morals - and very infrequent vulgar language. 5*

Fangs & Fairy Dust #1.25- I enjoy Ms. Schultz's stories, which I discovered in Hexes and Ohs, and was happy to find this collection. This is a well written and believable novella introducing the Angels of Sojourn Series, of which Blood & Holy Water is the first book. The main characters, a male vampire and a female human and her mother, are interesting and believable, along with action and dialog. It is fast paced and contains vivid descriptions making everything easy to visualize. Fortunately, it is not a cliffhanger. 4*

Fur & Feathers #2 - Read Blood & Holy Water and Bitten first before reading this book since the characters continue with their lives in this story. The Angels of Sojourn has been an interesting series of books. Well written with interesting storylines and characters woven with a vivid imagination to keep the reader immersed in the pages. I was not lucky enough to read these books in sequence, but I still enjoyed all the stories. Each adds to a wonderful, intriguing and mesmerizing world that runs the gamut of emotions, and actions and consequences, complete with a constantly moving pace. I contacted the author to review her books and have purchased her books, too. 5*

Flame & Fortune #2.5 - Another good addition to the Angels of Sojourn Series. Different from the other books in this series, this one is about embezzlement and second chances. She's sent to earth to distract a human without knowing why. The story is fast paced, with good characters and dialog, and good storylines. There is emotion ranging from grief to happiness. I've read this series out of order and never felt lost or had spoilers ruining the other books. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*

Mila waited eagerly for her 23rd birthday when she could grant herself a single wish. Every year, that wish was the same – that she could visit her best friend, Lincoln, in the human world, though the Fairy Council would have forbidden it. She had known Lincoln for 16 years now, and he had grown into a strong, tall young man. When she arrived at his treehouse, battery-operated candles lighted the inside, and below, the candles lighted a path down to the river by the forest clearing. She found a letter addressed to her with a clue and directions. Following the new path, she found another letter telling her where to meet him. She found a real candle this time, on top of a birthday cake held by Lincoln. They hugged, and she ate her cake, then the two lay side by side looking at the sky. She told him she lived with her father still and occasionally saw her mother, though her mother was out granting wishes and didn’t live with them. Lincoln concluded that the wishes kept them from being lonely, and it was not a life he would want to live. He wanted a wife and children one day. He wanted love and to be together forever – but all he gets is 24 hours each year.

They enjoyed the day together, swimming and watching the woodland animals. They didn’t need to talk; just being together was perfect. Lincoln tried to get Mila to see how good they were together, but she only saw her fairy godmother role for her and their life in separate world. He begged her to stay, but she couldn’t. Was he holding her back from finding someone in her world and having children? He loved her, but he knew he had to move on and make a life for himself in his human world.

The next year, Mila returned to the treehouse. She had only one more year to make a wish and she had to tell Lincoln. He had left a robe for her to put on to hide her wings and a note saying to come to the house. But on the porch, someone else was with him and she turned and ran in fear. He caught her and held her. And he told her he had met someone special and was engaged to be married. Mila’s heart broke, and she told him she only had one more wish anyway, so it didn’t matter. She refused to meet Laura, and she flew away to the rock they used to each lunches on and cried. Was their friendship over? Was she losing the man she loved? What would she do if she could never see him again?

This was a good story, very much a fairy tale feel to it. The author did a good job on this one, making wonderful characters the reader could instantly like. The story line was well-paced and drew the reader in. Definitely a good book to read!

Mila and Lincoln forge an unusually close bond for a fairy godmother and a human. Her job is supposed to be more important than love and he is a boy who grows up being loved and showing love. Lincoln wants to have a future with Mila, but every year when she visits, she reminds him that it's not possible. He finally settles on trying to love another girl, but his heart is torn.

The story jumps between two points of view, Mila's and Lincoln's, and between the present and the past, but it's not hard to follow as the dates and names are clearly marked like in a diary entry.

Lincoln and his brother, Mason, are interesting characters. I actually want to know more about Mason and hope that he gets his own story. I think I like him even more than Lincoln. Mila is friendly and bubbly, but she's a weaker character, because she doesn't seem to grow during the years that she and Lincoln are friends. She has plenty of opportunities to question a godmother's role being above family, but she just accepts things the way they are.

*Possible spoilers ahead.*

At one point, Mila says that she's going to tell Lincoln her feelings for him, but that doesn't happen and instead there's a blow up. I also don't think Lincoln's fiance, Laura, gets dealt a fair hand. Sure, she lacks a free spirit, but he asked her to marry him and so he's partly to blame for the problems.

Overall, it's a clean romance with good chemistry and an HEA. I received an eARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.

A fairytale about a fairy and her best friend needing their own miracle

This story is set in the same world as Hidden; A Pregnant Fairy Godmother's Journey.... I liked that book very much but I thought this one was even better.
Joynell's books always make me think and never fail to uplift me. They are about people, angels, fairy godmothers, vampires, all struggling with their very natures, as well as their feelings, thoughts and actions past and present, and also the situations they find themselves in. I hate the prevalence of the word 'journey' these days but I can't avoid it here. All of Joy's characters have their own journey to navigate, to find themselves, to find their love, to find peace or a home - each one is different but their stories stick in my mind.
I love Mila and Lincoln in this story, even though they needed their heads banging together (but that would have been a much shorter book!). Although Mason only played a small part, I became very fond of him too and want to hear his story so fingers crossed, my wish is granted!

This was a sweet and romantic story of a second chance romance between two best friends from two different worlds. I love these Fairy Godmother stories the author writes. Each one is unique and heartfelt and makes me wish for more. I especially liked having the epilogue in this novella. Mila is sweet, innocent and really loves Lincoln for all that she is willing to do for him. What a fun story!

Trapped: One Fairy Godmother’s Impossible Love is a short standalone novella in the Tales of Fairy Godmothers series.

Final Rating: 5 Stars

This was a great story by a very gifted author! If you liked Hidden, a fairy godmother’s story you are sure to love Trapped!

It’s a fun filled story that makes us all want to dream we had our very own fairy godmother. I don’t know If male fairies can grant wishes and thus be considered fairy godfathers? But as a guy I found this book to be very delightful just like Hidden was.

I love Joynell Schultz’s writing! It is a perfect escape from the bad news the media continues to spin to divide this country of ours. Do yourself a favor and start to read Joynell Schultz. I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!!

I heartily recommend this book and give it a 10 star rating on a 5 scale chart! Get yourself a copy today and be prepared for a journey that will put all the doom and gloom of the day on the back burner and be prepared for a wonderful escape from reality!!

Mila was trapped in a jar until Lincoln rescued her and revived her.
Fairy Mila first met Lincoln when he rescued her from the jar his brother Mason had put her in thinking she was a dragonfly. He treated her and gave her water until she revived and every year she had use her one wish a year to return to visit him. She knows the wishes will stop when she is twenty-five and although she loves him uses her last one to enable her to attend his wedding. Mila loves him but she must return to the fairy realm. A forbidden love that started when he was a boy. He saved her life but her being a fairy godmother she can't have anything to do with humans let alone fall in love with them. But as we know life does not always go as planned. She gets one wish a year and uses it on him. But he is grown and getting married and she is heartbroken. So what happens from here. Can a fairy godmother be human and stay with her love. And will he get married or choose her. Excellent read that is exciting, heart warming, suspenseful and so much more. Slow Start, But Strong Finish

I struggled to maintain interest through the first half of the book. The story takes shape slowly and the interleaving of past and present wasn’t helping.

Then, the story took off and the story of Mila and Lincoln became interesting and much more complicated. The first half of the book helps provides the background that makes both characters people you want to see find happiness.

It’s a nice romantic story and worth the effort to read all of the story.

Again, Joynell Schultz presents us with fairy godmothers who are not the usual sweetness and light, but fallible and not always child-loving. That together with a sweet star-crossed romance between two people from very different worlds makes this a delightful read. It is also just long enough to properly appreciate a mocha or latte while reading.

Mila and Lincoln have the kind of love that everyone dreams of. This was such a sweet love story. Mila didnt think it was possible to be with Lincoln because she was a fairy godmother in training. Lincoln thought if he married someone else he wouldn't feel the way he did for Mila. Guess they were both wrong. In the end love wins out .

A fun, short and sweet tale of true love between human and fairy. I enjoyed the interactions but wish it was longer. I would have loved to have more of the story about Mila's time in the fairy land in between the time of the human world and more regarding the time between the hospital and last chapter. I love Joynell's writing style and this story has the quality of story telling I have come to enjoy from her.

For years, Mila has used her birthday wish to travel to the human realm for time with Lincoln. Now, as her ability to use these wishes is almost over, she learns he is marrying a human woman. Doing so because Mila is off-limits to him.

This Fairy Tale Fantasy is lovely. Playing with someone's feelings potentially rips out a heart. No matter the intention. The end is heartening.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

I was hesitant to read this because I never envisioned a fairy godmother as anything other than Cinderella’s bibiddy-boppity-boo FGM. But anything related to fairies intrigue mo so I decided to give it a go. And I did not regret it! This is a light and easy read. I enjoyed it a lot and let me sleep with a smile after I finished it.

Short sand sweet

A little taster into the fairy world. Really enjoyed how the story is structured in chapters over time. It's like you get a lifetimes worth of stories and insights into the characters reading them grow and develop. I thoroughly enjoyed this structure and format and the way the characters developed a year at a time.

A fairy and a human boy. Unlikely friends, even less likely to be able to love and be with one another. The story was sweet and the characters endearing.
