Whoever sacrifices the virgin, Raven Cole, on her twenty-first birthday will achieve a great victory in the war between good and evil.
That’s bad news for Raven. Half-vampire, half witch, and cursed from the moment she was born, Raven has been a prisoner of the fire-demons for the last seven years. Now, as her twenty-first birthday approaches, time is running out.
Kael Hunter believed he would do anything to stop the fire-demons from winning. Until he saw her. Now, rather than kill the alluring vampire himself, Kael has another plan: to prevent the prophecy by taking Raven's virginity.
But Raven is prepared for death not seduction. Can Kael use their one night of passion to convince her she has a future - and that he should be a part of it?
Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.
Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.
Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.
Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction If you'd like to find out about new releases then sign up for my Newsletter at: https://app.mailerlite.com/webforms/l...
I know this is a re-release and since I didn’t read the first version I cannot say what changed but this new release was fast-paced with well-developed characters and great world-building. The relationship between Raven and Kael developed super fast but because it was sort of “fate” I think it worked with the story. I would have loved to see more of this world with more action but even as a short read it still packed plenty. Can’t wait to read more in the series.
** I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher **
I know what I said. Umm... Wow! This novel was a dramatic, steamy, quick read with vampires and witches and shape-shifters that had me hooked from start to finish in just one sitting. Will I read the rest of the books in this series? Yes!

REVIEW: 3.5 stars--THE PROPHECY is the first novella in Nina Croft’s contemporary, adult, DAUGHTERS OF THE MORRIGAN paranormal romance series. This is witch/vampire hybrid Raven Cole, and shape-shifter Kael Hunger’s story line.
NOTE: THE PROPHECY was originally released in 2010 but has been re-edited for new publication.
Told from third person perspective THE PROPHECY follows in the wake of a prophecy foretelling of a virgin sacrifice that will achieve great victory in the war between good and evil. Twenty years earlier, Raven Cole was sent to live with her father, in an effort to keep the prophecy from being fulfilled. As the daughter of a witch with the sight, Raven has seen the future, and the future does not bode well for our storyline heroine. Trapped and imprisoned by fire demons, Raven will come face to face with her future-shape shifter Kael Hunter-and the man with whom she will fall in love. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Kael and Raven when Kael makes Raven an offer she cannot refuse.
THE PROPHECY is a quick read; a story of greed, power, war and betrayal. Beaten and battered, Raven struggles to survive only to realize that all is for naught if the prophecy were to come true. Discovering Kael Hunter in her cell, Raven must come to terms with her future, a future that may not include the man with whom she will fall in love. The premise is engaging; the romance is quick and passionate; the characters are broken but determined.

This was first published on my blog " Lecture Toute une Aventure"
Good beginning, excellent even but i want more of this series to answer some of my questions? That being said this story is perfectly balanced between action, romance and intrigue so we are not getting the feeling it's too short ; of course we wouldn't mind more but it's really well done we don't get an unfinished feeling and i loved that.
The universe sound riche we have shifter, vampires, witches, demons and faes and probably more so i do want to know more like how a vampire can get a witch pregnant; it doesn't bother me it can be part of the universe but i would have loved a small explanation as it's not usual. With so many group of paranormal we can imagine that they are a lot of tensions and intrigue and we do get a small glimpse of that with what is happening inside the council but not much yet.
We are focusing on Raven half vampire, half witch since a prophecy is saying that who will sacrifice her , with some conditions, will be the big victor she was doomed. Each camp wants her dead...and she partly accepted that. So when someone comes to save her she can't really believe it or more exactly she isn't sure that is why should be done after all what she was confronted to while in captivity. Kael is a shifter, the last one and head of the council. He has a lot of responsibilities but he is utterly loyal and a good person. His powers are really interesting and he is quite powerful but not arrogant which i really appreciated. He is determined to save Raven for deeper reasons than even himself thought at first.
This is a great story and i will be curious to see how it will evolve with the numerous twists we already got. To recommend
Raven Cole, a witch and vampire, knew from the moment of her capture that she was cursed especially since she was kept hidden away and locked up in the dungeon of the fire-demons. Raven knew that a prophecy that was foretold from her birth: that she must remain a virgin and be sacrificed on her twenty-first birthday. Being in the dungeon Raven had no idea of really anything except that she would die in that dungeon until she met Kael Hunter a shape-shifter. Kael’s goal is to break Raven out of the dungeon and destroy the prophecy by taking Raven’s virginity. What Kael has planned though could throw their world into war. Will he succeed in his quest to break her free or will Raven be the death of both of them? This is a wonderfully told short story with an interesting premise and a great beginning! The imagery of the places is a bit vague at first and the paranormal aspects including creatures are a little hard to imagine but the book moves quickly and does not drag. The heightened suspense of the escape and other factions after Raven make her perilous situation much easier to see. Raven is an interesting protagonist and is unafraid of the prophecy even though she knows ultimately what will happen to her in the end. Everyone will be charmed by Raven’s strength despite whom and what she really is. Kael’s mystery and stand-offish gruff behavior even still manages to be likable. Unfortunately, in this book there isn’t really a true ending to proceed into the next book. Of course which might put off readers because of being a cliffhanger but still for some reason does manage to captivate many while awaiting the next installment.
The Prophecy is the first in Ms. Croft's Daughters of the Morrigan paranormal romance series. As such, there is a bit of space devoted to explaining the world in which it takes place, but considering its rather short length, the balance here of story vs. exposition is actually fairly decent. Ms. Croft tends to throw us right into the story first, and explain the details later, usually in the form of one character explaining something to another that clues the reader in as well--it's a good use of the limited page space here.
Overall I really enjoyed Raven and Kael's story--the genre definitely helped here, because aspects that might have bothered me otherwise (he is an adult when she's born; their love is definitely on the insta- side of things...) tend to seem more normalized when paranormal creatures are involved. I'm looking forward to seeing where Ms. Croft will go with the rest of the books in the series--this one was the perfect size to squeeze a bit of escapism into a busy weekend!
I didn't read the original version of this story (this revised version was released on 3/25/19), so I can't say what was different from the original--but this stood alone as a story just fine.
Rating: 4 stars / B+
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I loved this book so much! Kael made me swoon, Raven made my heart ache, and not only was their chemistry electric, but their interactions made me chuckle. Raven is as impatient as Kael is cheeky, and I couldn’t help but smile. Honestly, there wasn’t a single thing I disliked about this novella. It was so beautifully paced that I’m sad I won’t get to see more of them both, but I just adored how The Prophecy ended. Therefore, I am rating Book 1 of the Daughters of the Morrigan, Five out of Five Stars.
I would recommend this sweet and spicy novella to those who love all things paranormal romance, who love the thrill of thrumming desire, a great prophecy that creates peril, clever smutty loopholes, a destined love, and pain so heartbreakingly sad that you call for that sweet HEA. The Prophecy was my first Nina Croft book, and it will not be the last. I cannot wait to read the second book in this series because this author has quickly become one of my favourites.
The Prophecy by Nina Croft is the first book in the re-released Daughters of The Morrigan Series. This edition seems to be updated with references to text messages, but the story as a whole is mainly the same. Which is wonderful because this is the awesome storytelling that first drew me to Nina Croft’s books. The complex story-line has flawed characters who are in complicated circumstances. The enigmatic prologue sets the stage for the tragic opening scene 20 years later. To say it is a page turner is an understatement. Raven, Kael, and even Darius are unforgettable characters in this excellent paranormal novella. While there are true easy to recognize villains that they must face, there are also some “good guys” who are not what exactly they seem either. The story ended way too soon for me to be finished with these characters or their story. Easily read in a couple of hours, it is paranormal suspenseful romance at it best. My new favorite by Nina Croft. The rest of the series has a lot to live up to; this is that good. The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“Whosoever shall sacrifice the virgin Raven Cole on her twenty-first birthday shall win a great victory, a final victory, surpassing all others, and their enemies shall fall before them.” Raven Cole had a prophecy told about her when she was a baby and given to her father for protection. She is half witch and half vampire. Kael Hunter is the head of the council, a shapeshifter, and the last of his race. Raven was taken at 14 by the fire demons so they could sacrifice her for victory. Kael finds her right before her 21 st birthday. Then choices have to be made. This story was great. I loved every chapter, the development of the characters, and the pace. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more.
Raven was part Vampire and part witch. She was also cursed since birth. She was imprisoned by the fire demons so that they would have the upper hand come her 21st birthday. The prophecy states that if you kill a virgin on their 21st birthday, then you will gain significant power in the was against good vs evil. The council wants Raven as well but after seeing her, he decides he doesn't want to kill her. Kael falls for her and realized that the prophecy can't come to pass if she isn't a virgin. So this is his plan. It has the making for a good story but not a page turned for me.
Raven has been kidnapped and taken captive by fire demons and is to be sacrificed on her 21st birthday. The only way to save herself is to get rid of her virginity. Enter Kael Hunter, who is more than willing. Plot-wise, this feels a bit weak. Is this really the only solution? Hmm. She is given a choice: give me your innocence, or let the fire demons take your life. At least he is handsome and virile.
When Kael Hunter finally gets what he wants, the plot moves very fast—perhaps too fast. The book lacks worldbuilding and insight into the characters, so I won’t be continuing with this series. This isent a bad book but not for me

Missed this one first time around so glad to get it this time and open it up. This one is full of adventure in this world where Raven is in the center of it. This is also the first in a series so glad to catch at beginning. It starts the button of adrenaline to see if Kael can be the winner in this scrimmage in the war. You go rooting for alot in this one as everything goes on around you. I do like where it leaves you but I hope not to miss the next one.
The Prophecy is the first book of the Daughters of Morrigan series, a steamy new paranormal romance series by Nina Croft. The writing is great and the characters are interesting. The book blurb pretty much lays out the intriguing storyline so there isn't anything I have to add to that. I enjoyed this book very much and can't wait to read the next book of the series.

Loved The Prophecy! A quick interesting read that was very enjoyable. Great plot with enthusiastic characters. I loved Kael and Raven and I'm looking forward to continuing with this series.
I give The Prophecy 5 stars for its swoon worthy romance. I would recommend this book to Paranormal Romance Fans.
This is a wonderful read about Kael ad Raven. They have nothing in common but are attracted to each other. This is a quick read and has a great storyline. The characters are developed and real interesting and pull you into the story. Once you start you can’t stop! Can’t wait for the next book! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
First time I've read one of Ninas books but glad I did. I love paranormal and supernatural stories and this book is defo one of my favourite reads. Even though this was shorter ish fast paced book I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I will definitely be reading the other books in the series.
I found this book to be riveting. That rarely happens to me. I was quickly engrossed finding it a fast paced suspense romance. I received an advanced copy of this book and freely leave this honest review.
Nicely written short story that has it all. A death prophecy, witches, vampires, fire demons, and sexual attraction between two people (loose term) that have nothing in common except, well, sexual attraction. I am looking forward to finding out more about the beings I met in this story.
this was a quick read and not my favorite by Nina. I understand it is a re-release and I did not read the first one. Because it was a short read, the characters never connected, making the story too far fetched to enjoy.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
This is an awesome story. The characters are so interesting. I loved how everything played out for Raven and Kael. They both went through so much in their lives. But to have them come together and find such a beautiful love is perfection.
I felt invested in the characters. I wanted to see them do well. The story was short, and I wish it was longer, but I loved the connection between the two main characters.
I wasn't a huge fan. A quick read which might be good for some but I need more world building and plot and this fell WAY short for me. It felt like a cliff notes of a book that could have been really good.
For a short story, it was to the point but still managed to have strong character relationships without feeling rushed or cringy. It would of been nice for a little epilogue to show them a little in the future but still good little read and will continue with the series.
