Catrice Jackson is doing the hard work of calling out racism and fighting the “white gaze”. This book is intended for black women. It encourages black women to discover and represent their core values. Catrice Jackson’s personal 5 core values are: authenticity; freedom; truth; peace; inspiration. As a white woman it is my responsibility to sit down and listen, which is why I read this book. It is important for me to understand all the angles of racism and my role within the oppression. If you are trying to learn. If you are ready to face your own racism then this is a good book for you.
