She’s out to prove she’s enough on her own. He wants to show her being a part of a team isn’t a weakness. Can they meet in the middle or will her pride get in the way?
Addison Dupree is determined to make it as a single mother without asking for help. She’s found a great support system with the women of the Fury Pride, and a new job she actually enjoys. She’s content with focusing solely on her son, Elijah, even if that means denying her attraction to the Utah Fury’s rising star, Grant Fisher.
Something changed in Grant the moment he met Addison. While some guys on the team think he should avoid Addison and her baby, he’s in too deep. All he wants is to be part of their lives and take care of her and Elijah, but Addison resists. Each time he tries to help he drives a wedge further between them.
Will Addison let Grant in, or are they destined to stay friends?
Brittney has been an avid reader since she can remember. Her parents' form of punishment for her growing up was taking away her books and making her go outside to play. She was born and raised in Southern California, with a brief hiatus in Arizona. She loves the beach, exercising, sleeping in, and cookies. She is an obsessive dog lover, although her affection currently has no outlet. Something that she is planning on remedying soon. She and her husband currently reside in the Rocky Mountains exploring and hiking as much as possible.
Romance, clean; series but stand alone Cute fun romance. This features characters from the other novels, but is a stand alone read. Told from alternating points of view, and fun hockey backstory, I enjoyed the read, Grant wasn't as strong of a character for me in some ways so hence the 3. This was still a fun escape read, I always love sports settings, and the camaraderie with the team, the "Fury" is always fun! Honest hurting hearts, and Grant's genuine caring and concern made this a beautiful read. Fun escape read.
Grant is one of the players on, the Utah Fury Hockey team. He had gotten, to be friends with, Addison, the young single mom, that befriended, Emma. She was one of the moms, she met when she was attending her, postpartum depression meetings. They had attended a team gala together when Grant needed a date. Grant was a natural with her baby boy, Eli. Everything seems, to be so natural, to him.
Here's the thing, one of the times at his house she sees paperwork from a lawyer, about a mother's rights, when dealing with a deadbeat father. She blows her, stack. Telling him he overstepped, and wouldn’t even allow him, to tell her his reasoning. She is beyond pissed and goes radio silent for a couple of days. They start spending more, and more time together. Until finally, he raises the question of, going on a date, to dinner. She finally relents, and when he arrives, both she, and Eli have the flu.
Grant jumps right in, to help them both. Calling Eli’s doctor, and describing both their symptoms. He picks up their meds, he buys much-needed groceries, and oh yeah pays the rent, as well as, the back payments. So, they weren’t evicted, as the paperwork says they would be, and soon. You’ll see, while cleaning up he finds that, notice plus more on the counter. When she is feeling better and is up, and around. He tells her and she kicks him out. Pride is her, number one evil.
Find out how they can knock down, each other's walls, to get to the heart of things. Are there more than, Grant’s eyes on her? She may not want the attention, but she has no choice. Her past is coming back, to haunt her. When you come from the experience of only, and, always being alone, it is hard to see you need help until it's, too late. That's a lot of what seems to keep happening to Addison.
This book shows how we can wear, our pride right into a grave if, we don't call for help. I have enjoyed this author’s, style of writing. You seem, to get a lot of ice time, too.
I read the first few books of this series and then I kind of got behind on my to read list. Well now that I picked it up again I’m definitely going to get caught up on it. I’ve never been a hockey fan but I love the camaraderie of the guys on the team and the women of the pride. This story of Grant and Addison is different from the others. I felt like there was more hockey in it and had more substance. I loved the salon photo shot scenes. Their story had lots of false starts to their relationship due to miscommunication and wounded pride but they make it in the end. I love how Grant is attempting to take care of a baby! Fun book! Rating: PG clean
Grant has been the private single Fury for a few books now until Addison and Eli come into his life. Once again, I'm in love with the Pride and the Fury band of brothers. Addison has had it rough being a single mother and doesn't accept help easily. Grant is all heart and wants to help, and the problems begin. It's a sweet story with its own bad guy in it. The required happy ending is there also, thank goodness. Now on to the next book in the series!
The rating is due to personal preference and was not read the way the author intended!
This book had no chance from the start for me. I thought you had could read them out of order, but it seems like the books pick up from where they left off in the last one. However, each story is different. I’m not personally fond of some of the tropes/plots of the previous books. Great concept, just not for me.
I read this book in one sitting . The author is one that I am so thankful , is on KU . I started reading this series bass ackwards ! But is awesome because of the Pride alone . It is a series I will be reading again soon , probably from the beginning this time !
Great story! Loved every part of it until the ending. So much happens in the last 1/2 of the chapter. There could have been at least 5 to 6 more chapters. Now I will just have to make it up in my head.
Grant has turned out to be one of my favorite guys of this series! He's there for his teammates and he went all in for Addi and Eli as soon as they met! She doesn't make things easy for him, but wow the way he takes care of them...just couple goals!
A lot of back and forth misunderstanding takes place before these two friends admit their a couple. All I can say is that Grant is amazing and patient and doesn't give up no matter how many times his efforts are dismissed.
I am so glad this series got back on a happier track. I totally enjoyed this book. Any woman would be lucky to find a man like Grant. I look forward to book 8.
