My free time is spent writing, reading, eating, watching television, playing video games or relaxing with my daughter. Fun little facts: my favorite color is blue, I'm obsessed with Disney, I watch Japanese anime, and I'm a staff reviewer at Young Adult Book Central. I am open to any questions and feedback and also enjoy recommendations. Feel free to shoot me messages.
I'll be honest, Aladdin isn't one of my favorite Disney movies, and I know very little about it so that's not what drew me to this book. That cover caught my eye and I needed to read it. I'm glad I did. Ara is what they call a street rat. Basically she's a thief. She has a smart mouth and a strong sense of loyalty to the people she cares about. She's an easy one to like. Taron is little better than Ara. He's starving, unable to cope with a life on the streets. Until he meets her and she shows him a world he never imagined.
But when Ara is taken, secrets begin to unravel. Just who is this thief? Where has she come from? And what can she do?
A really good story set in the world of Aladdin (and just in time for the movie!).
Ara is a street rat, living by her wits and her skill as a thief. One day, she comes across a bejewelled dagger that she is somehow drawn to. She doesn't know why, as she's never needed a weapon before, but for reason she cannot explain, she must have it. Before long, Ara and her new friend Taron are swept into a world of hidden secrets, magic, and a fast-approaching war that she has no choice but to fight in.
I've enjoyed many of Bethany Wicker's books in the past, and this is certainly no exception! Can't wait for book two!
