A short pamphlet of 12 moments written about living on the coast and finding creative inspiration. Includes "Still", "Opening Time" and "Mermaid's Shell."
This book is a calm and lovely collection of poems that transported me right to the most magical times I've ever spent on the beach. The imagery and sounds of the poems conjured the sea right up around me and helped me breathe easier just reading about the freedom that only nature can bring. I particularly enjoyed the poems Journey, Where am I?, and "When the Sea Lulls" which has this incredibly powerful line: "No man leaves me breathless from the power of his fury." What a beautiful and calming collection. I'll return to this volume again when I need a few minutes to escape the chaos of the world. Beautifully written and soothing to the soul.
I picked up this book of poems on a bad, anxiety filled night. I am so happy that I did. The poems inside calmed my heart, and my mind. I absolutely loved every single one. I am once again at peace with the world, and will get some much needed rest.
I felt the vibes of the Sea as I read this. It's despair, it's strength, it's love, joy and peace flowed through the words. Yet I also felt a hidden longing for the sea. A wish that it was there and not here the author lived. I can't blame them if they thought that. The Sea has always been impartial in its treatment of people. Perhaps not fair but impartial. The nostalgic sea wind captured here has made me think of many things in my past perhaps it does for the author as well.
A beautiful collection of poems...the imagery in all the poems is vivid...as I read these poems I felt like I was sitting next to the poet by the beach and listening to her recite them. On the shore and Journey were my favourite pieces in the book. A must have in your collection.
I really enjoyed these beautiful poems about the magnificent ocean. I would recommend this little book of poetry to anyone who has a fondness of the sea!
When an author Loves a subject enough to tell it's story, whether anyone reads it or not; that is a Love story. And this truly is Ms Bennett's Love story to the sea. I am a mountain man myself, but she draws even me in with the depth of her passion for the rolling sea.
Heart warming and enjoyable read. Her poems give us the feeling of her contentment and love of the sea and life in general. Beautiful and thoughtful well written. Looking forward to read more works from Katy.
A salute to the sea by the author. It is obvious that the sea means love to her. I found these poems very moving. I understand now the call of the sea.
