Lachie McGuire is trying to make a fresh start. He’s sobered up and is making amends for all the people he has hurt and the pain he has caused. But some of his past actions have consequences. Even if he doesn’t remember them.
Needing her independence, single-mum Abbie Forsyth accepted a nursing position in the small outback town of Julia Creek and uprooted her daughter, Hannah from the only life she had ever known. Now, in the dusty, sun burned land they are creating a life together, just the two of them.
When Lachie is injured and needs medical assistance, Abbie is there for him. She’s by his side every step of the way, including letting him stay with them while he recovers from surgery. Even though they don’t know each other, neither can shake the strange sensation of having met before. But Abbie knows how volatile life with an addict can be and she has to think about her daughter’s safety above her own growing affection for the sexy grazier.
Can Lachie be the father Hannah needs? And the man Abbie deserves? As tragedy strikes the small rural town, secrets begin to unravel…
The Legacies of Brigadier Station is the third in the Brigadier Station series which is set near Julia Creek in the isolated Queensland Outback of Australia.
Each book in the Brigadier Station series can be read as a standalone.
Sarah Williams spent her childhood chasing sheep, riding horses and picking Kiwi fruit on the family orchard in rural New Zealand. After a decade travelling, Sarah moved to Queensland to raise a family and follow her passion for writing. She currently resides in Maleny on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
I've enjoyed reading this series. It eye-opening, heartfelt but most of all happy. You get to see how life is like on a station and realize how hard it is to have a social lifr. Abbie and Lachie discover the truth after 7 years and fight to keep it. Through the struggles they find the love that they want and deserve. That's what makes this story so good. I hope we get many more reads just like this one. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy
The eldest Brigadier is fighting his addiction, losing a best friend whilst trying to convince Abbie, a local nurse, that they would be happy together.
I love reading these books again ❤️

The Legacies of Brigadier Station is the third book in the Brigadier Station series, but reads well as a stand alone. Lachie and Abbie first meet at a picnic when Lachie gets hurt. Abbie’s a nurse and after emergency surgery, she offers her place for him to stay and recover. There’s a familiarity and attraction between them, but Abbie has to think of her daughter. Will Lachie and Abbie figure out their connection and find a future together, or will the secrets and guilt keep them apart?
I really enjoyed reading this book! There’s a lot of real life that can be found in these pages, with difficult times, overcoming your past, striving to be your best, family issues, facing your future... all of that could be found in this book, and I loved that this made the book so relatable. Lachie used to be an alcoholic, but is trying his best to be his best. I loved how well and quickly he responded to Hannah, I loved how he was willing to do anything for his future with Abbie, and I loved the steadiness of his character. Abbie was independent and a protector, but sometimes that went against what her heart wanted. I loved Lachie and Abbie together, I loved their passion and their sweetness, even their arguments, and I loved the time spent with Hannah! This was my first book by this author, and I definitely look forward to reading more!
I got wrapped up in this story of the people who live in the outback of Australia right off the bat. My heart was stolen by Hannah and Abbie. I am a great believer in dreams coming true and of love triumphing when you least expect it! Ms Williams has crafted a well written story that tugs at the heartstrings and delivers the promise! I received a free copy of this book via the internet and have chosen to write a review.
Heartwarming! Without a doubt you’ll love the characters in this book. Abbie has uprooted her daughter Hanna from the city and moved to Julia Creek to take back control of their lives. As a nurse she is there for Lachie when he needs medical care after surgery. The secret she has been keeping for years is in danger of coming to light, but does she really want to keep it hidden? Super characters, story, and writing. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
The characters were all well done. The story flowed through a range of emotions, all fitting together well. The dialog seemed natural (although this California girl needed to look up a few Aussie terms).
I loved this story. In under 200 pages, I got a rich and full experience with lots of feels. I couldn't stop smiling as the story progressed and truths were revealed. The pacing was nice and the romance was perfect. Replete with a sweet six-year old who loved abundantly. There were some heartbreaking moments, as well, but nicely balanced with the heartwarming. While Legacies can stand well on its own, I think it was a much more rewarding experience to have met Lachie in the previous Brigadier books and to have witnessed the evolution of his character. Overall, a wonderful addition to this series.
This is the third book in the Brigadier Station series and it concentrates on the life of Lachie. Lachie has had a lot of ups and downs in his life, and he has a drink problem. He was once engaged and his fiancée left him for his brother. He’s not actually looking for love but finds it unexpectedly when he ends up in hospital having an operation. A single parent nurse is not quite what Lachie has in mind, but things take an unusual turn when a song brings back some surprising memories for him. A great read.
This is the second book I have read of this series, and I find it a pure delight. The author has done such a good job giving a strong sense of place. I have never been to Australia, but with her descriptions of the land and the use of language, I felt like I was right there. (I even had to look up some Aussie slang.) I really enjoyed this story of Lachie and Abbie's relationship. Lachie is trying to set himself to rights as a recovering alcoholic; he wants to be a better man than his father was. Abby is a nurse and a single mother to a young girl, who is completely adorable. I am an RN myself, and I did see some issues with the medical parts of it. For instance, they would need to operate on a strangulated bowel coming through a hernia not because of the patient's pain but because of the potential problems for ischemia (lack of blood flow) and subsequent death of bowel tissue. I can't quite imagine, too, that it is ethical for a nurse in Australia to take a patient into her home after a hospital stay. But this is fiction, and I won't give too much of a quibble.
The characterization in this book was excellent as well. You can get a strong sense of both the hero and the heroine, and I love the extended family of Brigadier Station. I love books that realistically portray what it is like to be in a loving, though sometimes too involved, family. While you don't need to read any of the previous books as this one does stand alone very well, reading other books in the series will give you a firmer sense of place, this family, and all the difficulties they are facing in the Outback. Another exceptional story by this author and in this series.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This series is my first read by this author and I enjoyed all three books. I like the casual writing style blended with the good choice of characters and the interesting storylines. I always love when I can find a writer that transports me to their country as if I'm there in person. The fact this series is set in Australia grabbed my interest. The culture and customs and livestyles of this part of Oz was interesting.
The Brothers of Brigadier Station #1 - The story of Lachlan and Meghan and his brother Darcy, which also builds the history and foundation of Brigadier Station and the McGuire family. 4*
The Sky Over Brigadier Station #2 - With Meghan's wedding approaching, brother Noah is unwilling returning to Brigadier Station after leaving ten years previously. This is his and Riley's story, which shares more of the McGuire past. I find the work of Australia's stations interesting, just as I do about American ranches, but was intrigued about another job that is not commonly written about in either country. 4*
The Legacies of Brigadier Station #3 - This story starts almost eleven months after Sky ends. It is Abbie's turn to find a McGuire to love. This is my favorite of the series, where a lot of the past, the present and the future come together. Terrible things happen, but so do many wonderful things.
While all these books can be read on their own, start with the first story and see the McGuire history unfold. 5*
The Legacies of Brigadier Station by Sarah Williams continues the warm, heartfelt storytelling that fans of the series have come to love. While the book maintains the wholesome and uplifting atmosphere present in earlier installments, it is not afraid to touch on heavier themes, including addiction and suicide (not involving the main character and handled off-page). These elements add emotional depth to the story without overwhelming its overall hopeful tone.
One of the strongest aspects of this novel is its realism. The characters’ reactions, decisions, and emotional journeys feel authentic and thoughtfully portrayed, making it easy for readers to connect with them. Williams manages to balance meaningful, sometimes difficult topics with a comforting and engaging narrative style.
The plot itself is both fun and engaging, making it a quick and enjoyable read. The pacing keeps the story moving while still allowing space for character development and emotional moments. Overall, The Legacies of Brigadier Station is a satisfying addition to the series, offering both heartfelt storytelling and an easy, enjoyable reading experience.
Love blooms like a field of new clover in this beautiful romance!
Lachie has faced his demons and come to terms with his past, just in time for sweet Abbie and her fatherless daughter, Hannah. A cleverly-written twist of fate completely rewrites everything for all three, forcing Lachie and Abbie to reconsider everything they thought about each other, and about themselves.
This is a delightful story of small-town love and redemption, first impressions and second chances, and the triumph of family over adversity. There are a couple scenes that will tug your heartstrings, so keep the tissues handy. I loved this story, especially after getting to know Lachie and his family in the previous two books. Each of the brother's books is a standalone romance, but I highly recommend reading them together to really get a sense of the family dynamics. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This author paints a very vivid & true to life picture of the current situation for farmers in the Aussie outback. However some issues are discussed which may disturb some readers. This is Lachies story where he meets a nurse Abbie & her daughter Sarah all due to incident with him requiring medical attention. There is an instant attraction to the other & Lachie bonds with her daughter. Of course I suspected something & was right however we're only given tidbits along the way. With Lachies issues involving alcohol & his late father its a long journey for them to find their happiness. This is another good tale in this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. 4.5*
Lachie's sober, but has a medical problem and needs surgery. Everything goes as planned, but the doctor won't let him leave because he lives too far from the hospital (just in case). Abbie - the nurse - offers to have him stay with her. She's a single mom to Hannah, an adorable little girl and the light of Abbie's life. They begin to spend time together, and seem to enjoy each other. But who is Hannah's father? Can Abbie and Lachie find enough common ground to find their happy ending? I love this book. This was life exactly how life is - pain, love, suspense, community, family. I read it in one sitting, and am looking forward to this author's next work.

The third book about the brothers from Brigadier Station, set in the Australian outback, is another heartwarming story. The characters are well rounded and engaging. The storyline flows quickly and smoothly filled with twists and turns and romantic drama. The story centres on the eldest son and a nurse, both of whom have to deal with difficult pasts and present obstacles placed in their paths. They had a lot to overcome in order to find happiness. I like the fact that the previous couples stories continue in this book. The character interaction and dialogue are well written. I enjoyed this book and the previous two.
Abbie is a single mother and moves from the big city to the outback where she is a nurse and is raising her daughter Hannah. Lachie is a recovering alcoholic and he and Abbie have some neutral friends. When he needs surgery Abbie steps up to help and they begin a friendship but they both want more but are afraid to make a move. Abbie does not know who Hannah’s father is but when she finds out she is totally surprised and if you want all the details you must read this lovely book.

Lachie wasn’t a good guy in the first two books because he was a drunk. But he sobered up at the end of the second book and he’s become hard working and caring about others. There is an immediate attraction between him and the new nurse Abbie after she takes care of him after his recovery from surgery. And he loves her little daughter Hannah, who loves him right back. But will they take a chance on a recovering alcoholic who didn’t lead a very good life previously? Sad moments and secrets are revealed in this outback romance.
Lachie finally gets his story. From the previous books Lachie finally get his act together but his past come back after 6 years. Abbie and Hannah come out to the outback for a break from the city. Single mom nurse meet Lachie after he gets hurt playing soccer/football with some kids. I loved this story and don't want to give some of it away, I loved this whole series. Sarah writes beautifully with this story, with the turns of it all and how Lachie get his love story. Life on the outback and the extremes of it all. This one has some steam! About 3 fires!!
I love stories set in Australia and this was no exception. Lachie is a recovering alcoholic who suffers an injury at a bbq and a nurse takes him to the hospital. She has a 6 year old daughter who talks his ear off on the way. He becomes attached to both mother and daughter. That's when it becomes complicated. I loved the characters, Hannah is so precocious and adorable! I have already purchased the first book in the series because it covers Lachie's story from the beginning. This is a great new-to-me author and I will read more.
It's great that things have started turning around for Lachie. After hearing what his mom told him about the abuse she and her brothers dealt with from their dad he decided it was time for AA. He was a friend's birthday party when he had a hernia year & needed surgery. Thank goodness for nurse Abbie. She & her daughter Hannah took him in when he first got out of the hospital. But there is much more going on.
This was my first story by this author and I enjoyed it. It took me a chapter or so to get comfortable with some of the Australian dialect but after that it was fine. I liked Abbie, Lachie, and Hannah but I felt like Lachie forgave Abbie a little too quickly a couple of times. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
I was given this series to review by Voracious readers and it was absolutely fantastic. I read Ll three books within a few days.
The characters were all so very well written. It was impossible not to fall in love with them. Sarah did an amazing job of getting your emotions involved. There were a number of times I was crying over the turmoil the family experienced
I liked this book. The book was so sweet and I liked how Abbie and Lachie got together. This book you can feel the struggles that everyone was going through and you could feel the love between Abbie and Lachie. I want to read the rest of the series just to see how this whole town plays out.
O Céu sobre Brigadier Station é um romance envolvente que explora o amor, o passado e as escolhas. Com cenários deslumbrantes da Austrália, uma leitura imperdível para os amantes de romances apaixonantes. #maratonaleabhar
