The Chariot is the eighth episode of Jon Cronshaw’s epic fantasy novella serial, The Ravenglass Chronicles.
Jon Cronshaw is a British science fiction and fantasy author based in the north of England, just south of the wall. As a freelance features writer, he has had work published in local and national newspapers across the UK, including the Yorkshire Post and the Guardian. He earned his PhD in history of art from the University of Leeds in 2011, focusing on the life and work of Anglo-American sculptor, Jacob Epstein (1880-1959). He's a voracious reader, guide dog owner, ex-gamer, and wrestling fan.
This episode in the Ravenglass Chronicles follows Kat as she starts her Guardia training where she is faced with numerous challenges. This story is action packed and shows Kat's problem-solving skills as well as how she handles the challenges set out for her. To say following Kat's journey becomes addicting is an understatement, I certainly hope the next episode is right around the corner. Confidence is carefully guided into our MC concerning her own skills and self worth. Of course the ever present bug in her ear urges her towards horrid thoughts and immature behaviors. This really gives me a deja by feeling of another authors insatiable weaponry. Wondering if our MC will finally shows stable signs of maturity. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
This addition makes you think a lot as the main character is trying to figure out the mysteries behind everything and figure out if what she believes is true or not while also navigating through new challenges.
This one has been my favorite so far. Kat is growing in strength through this particular one and at times it’s hard to remember who she once was personality wise. She is truly growing up.

Hilda is pretty hostile towards Kat and isn’t afraid to show it. She tries to combine every trainee that she can that Kat is a spy. Thankfully with some help from Scram, Kat can finally find a niche. Working herself to the bone and to the point of vomiting she works through training and passing tasks. But Hilda will not leave her alone.
Kat's journey continues when she arrives at the Guardians, but things don't go too well. She takes on the tasks and passes them but not without repercussions from some of the students. She has to try to fit in but the trainees who are already there do not want to accept her. Things go too far when one of the trainees does something and she is asked to leave. Not knowing where she will go or what will happen will keep you reading the next book in the series.
