Argument with parents? Check. Made my Bodyguard's life a living hell...again? Check. Received an acceptance letter to the only Unicorn Academy in all the dimensions? Chec – WHAT?!
As the future princess of MagiNa Realm, I never expected to be accepted to the faraway academy and am shocked to find out I got in. My parents don't support my decision, but I don't give them a choice to up our argument count. Sneaking out of our castle and realm, I set off on my adventures as a runaway Unicorn Princess.
If only life could be THAT simple. My annoying bodyguard — whose looks could kill — tags along, having received an invitation of his own. To make matters worse, I get partnered up with a nerd who's obsessed with my aura, an omega male who wants me all to himself, and the Prince of Xeons — with whom I apparently have an arranged marriage?
Last but not least, the most problematic issue of them I can't shift to save my life.
I don't want to be a princess in distress and I won't let anyone stop me from acquiring my birthright as queen. That's why I'm here to learn from the best of the best, and that starts with getting through the first year of glittering madness.
Can things get any worse during my first semester at Unicorn Academy? We're about to find out.
Serafina, the future princess of MagiNa, is trying her best to make her parents and the people she's one day going to lead, happy. But it kind of sucks to be a Celestial Unicorn, when you can't shift. This is such a big deal, that her absentee parents lose faith in her and arrange to send her away. To a kingdom far far away, where she'll basically live in captivity. The prospect of living in a dungeon, married to a strange prince, only to be taken out and paraded around at special occasions doesn't exactly fit Serafina's idea of how she wants to live her life. So when her parents force try to force this marriage upon her, she only has one way out: attend the Unicorn Academy she was just accepted to. As she's been kept isolated in her castle, she only has the company and support from her guard (and not so secret boyfriend) Exodus, her Familiar Spade and her favourite teacher. With only very little time to escape, time is of the essence, but it turns out not be that simple when her parents are already working against her, and have imprisoned her guard. When she arrives at the academy she learns that the curriculum doesn't actually start until the second semester, giving everyone enough time to arrive. But they also have to wait to see who they're academy team mates are going to be, and it turns out some things cannot be escaped simply by going to another dimension.
On her journey Serafina meets characters and beings that are known to readers of Unicorn Blessed Chronicles. It's not necessary to read this series first, as it's not part of the same plot line. But the setting does overlap, which is awesome as I love that world - and not just because the legendary Momo communicates by repeating my name over and over again!! This also expands so much on the world of unicorns and all the fascinating types. This is the kind of book where the author gets to show off her strengths. Her imagination and creativity is not limited, and she uses that in the best possible way; to create and expand on my favourite world and the beings that live there. I'm especially intrigued by the many different kinds of unicorns, and see where she takes it.
The pace in this book feels just right! There's not a lot of useless downtime and it's not rushed neither. The characters are intriguing, especially her Familiar Spade, who are able to shift into anything and seems to harbour romantic feelings towards his Mistress. I hope that the author will stay focused on this series, instead of rushing out a lot of new ones, as I believe this to be some of her best work.
As the future princess of MagiNa all Serafina wants to do is make her parents and her people happy. She wants to be the best Celestial Unicorn possible. Unfortunately, Sera can't shift and her parents give the term absentee new meaning. They only spend time with her as holographs and then only to criticize her existence. Kept isolated in her castle Sera has only the company, support, and love of her guard/secret boyfriend Exodus, her unusual familiar Spade, and her favorite teacher. So she decides to apply to the Unicorn Academy in hopes of becoming the unicorn she is meant to be. Her acceptance turns out to be a lifesaver when her parents unveil their plans for her future. Sera, Exodus, and Spade arrive at the University shortly before Semester Two is set to begin. There they meet their three other remaining teammates. Male unicorns that at first glance are not meant to work together or for that matter, even be near one another.
This is the genre where Yumoryori Wilson excels. Fantasy RH. She has a vivid imagination and an attention to detail that paints realistic new worlds. Returning to Celestial's world, there is some background already in place but this is a complete expansion of the world of unicorns. So many fascinating types of unicorns. The main characters are all new but there is a natural crossover with a few from the original series. One returning favorite was a delightful surprise! Seraphina is a complex character. Strong in magic but unable to shift and full of self-doubts. Exodus is pure sexy strength and Spade seems to be a handful. The rest of the team is surprising. Three men, two seemingly obnoxious, one slightly annoying. I can't wait to see how they all work out.
I loved the pace of this book. It wasn't rushed in the slightest but set the stage for an entertaining series. Lately, I have been critical of Ms. Wilson's work. It hasn't met with the standards she is known for. I have been frustrated that she hasn't returned to her original Starlight Gods series. No apologies there, I want Mako and her men!! It seems that she has been more focused on rushing multiple new series out than on the stories. I have NO complaints about this book. This is a welcome return to form. I look forward to more.
Unicorn lovers unite!!!! This is so the book for you! We get a princess who is a unicorn shifter with mad powers but so far no shifting skills. Her parents have ran her life but things take a turn for the worse when they spring a huge decision on her. Instead she heads to the University where we get some familiar characters as well as an eclectic group of new ones leading to the surprising ending which sets up the next semester quite nicely. A fantastic fantasy world that you won't want to leave. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
What a great start to a new series. Princess Sera is a unicorn shifter who can't shift yet. Sheltered within her castle since her parents don't want her out and about, all she's learned is from private tutors. Even her parents aren't part of her daily life... Only seen via holographic conversions. Deep down she just feels she's meant for more. Imagine her glee when she keeps dreaming of an amazing person and castle asking her to apply to Unicorn University. Deep within she feels it's far more than a dream. All kinds of horrible familial secrets come to light making Sera feel even more isolated than usual. So she secretly applies to this unicorn university. Timing couldn't be better when she gains her admittance email.... And she gets to bring her boyfriend/guard, and familiar with her!!!! Looks like this special unicorn had the world ahead of her...if she can escape the plotting of her parents and figure out how to shift already! I for one am gleefully looking forward to all their adventures and mischief, not to mention life lessons along the way. You may recognize a certain cute character from Celestia's books, and I for one hope a few more make the odd appearance. Once more the great Yumoyori does it again, bringing whimsy and joy along with a few thorns wrapped around a colorful, big hearted young lady who yearns to become the best of her potential! I look forward to seeing what happens next!!!!
Unicorn Academy is the first book in another series by Yumoyori Wilson. I've read a lot of books by her lately and I always wonder how she comes up with the different plots and twists and turns without repeating herself. Granted, some series do have a similar setup, but never to a point where you feel like it's something you've read before.
In Unicorn Academy, we are introduced to Unicorn Princess Sera(phina), her Guard (and Boyfriend) Exodus and familiar Spade and the dimension they live in. Sera is unable to unlock her Unicorn shift, but powerful enough when it comes to magic. She decides to apply for the Unicorn Academy to learn how she can be a better princess and Queen for MagiNa. When her parents inform her of their plans for her future and the future of her Guard and familiar, everything comes crashing down and Sera and her boys are forced to run away. Luckily for her, she was just accepted at the Unicorn Academy.
This was a rather short book for this author, but I liked it. It gave us the basic introduction and background information before really starting at the academy. There are still a lot of questions without answers and I'm dying to find out more!
Truly enjoyed this snapshot into the life of an incredible Celestial Unicorn shifter....who hasn’t been able to ever shift.
Seraphina was raised in a castle by her absentee parents and her team of tutors and maids. She wasn’t allowed out of the castle and was expected to know everything ever known about all the different unicorn shifters. Her only true companions are her loyal bodyguard and lover and her familiar. When Sera learns of the plans her parents are putting in place for her future she escapes the castle and enters the only Unicorn Academy where she can grow into the unicorn she has always known she could become.
Sera doesn’t leave her men behind, she takes them with her and as she settles in things she thought she left behind find her.

New book, new series, new characters and new world, or is it a new world?! Loving the fact this story is in the same universe as Celestia. This book is an introduction to Sera and her life, we get to known her Guard/boyfriend and her familiar. She has a lot of pressure on her shoulders because of her parents and what she views as her birthright and obligations. She can’t shift yet but has great magic and magical knowledge and although she seems a little air headed at first, we learn that it is all a coping mechanism. After she applies to the Academy, her parents try to push her into doing things against her will and keep her away from what and who she loves. So we get the beginning of an adventure. When we least expected boom! Momooooooo! I missed her so much! This story focus on the beginning and only the two guys already in her life. The others guys Only a little at the end. Can’t wait to read more about Sera and to encounter the characters from Celestia books.
Another fantastic series by one of my favourite authors. As you can guess with the title Unicorn Academy. Princess Seraphina is our heroine and a runaway princess not that I can blame her because her parents are just so not nice. I’d like to express in a more colourful words but I’ll reign it in. However, I do wonder if there is a reason for them being like that or not. Not much happens in this book but they were able to introduce the other characters. We get to see some from Celestia. I did wonder if it was a crossover with Celestia. So, like I mentioned don’t expect a lot but more like just the basics. I do like Exodus and Spade. I did not realise about what her relationship with Spade would further entail. I hope to get to know more about the others but especially her fiancé. Can’t wait for year 2.
I seriously loved this book! Sera might seem like she has everything because she is a princess, but she has terrible parents, I certainly feel bad for her. She is basically locked up in her tower only because she hasn’t blossomed into the unicorn shifter she was meant to be. It’s a bit of a short read, but I think it sets the stage for the main story that’s about to start, aka Unicorn Academy! Her guard Exo is her love, and her familiar is also in love with her, but no intimate scenes with them yet. At the end of the story we meet the rest of her team for the academy, we don’t know too much about them, just their name and what they look like, but it looks like a problem has come to the academy as well! NOTE: I would read the Celestia series before starting this book because the worlds are connected!!
Another amazing beginning from an amazing author. Unicorn Academy was a wonderful start!
Serafina is caught in an unfulfilling, stagnant existence as a princess in a realm that ignores her. Her parents don't see her, she's just a pawn, and it's a very unhappy life. After being accepted to Unicorn Academy, she gets a chance to start anew and has to fight to get her shot.
Book 1 really let us get to know Sera, her sexy guard/ boyfriend Exodus, and her loyal familiar Spade. Taking place in Celestia's world, get ready to see some familiar faces and get ready for Sera to show her strength! With the rest of the team showing up at the end, there's so much to look forward to in Book 2. I loved it!
I love the beauty of MaGiNa but not the drama and betrayals the dimension held. However, that drama and betrayal holds significance in both this book and future ones. I loved Sera. She had her insecurities, yes, but they werent without reason. And she didnt let her insecurities completely control her. Shes rash and impulsive at times but also intelligent and cunning too. Exodus and Spade are both amazing in their own ways. They're both protective and their sense of humor and sarcasm make watching them enjoyable. I'm not a fan of Seras parents. We didnt get to see much of the academy itself yet but that's because we needed to know Seras decision for attending to begin with. Now that we have a baseline I cant wait to see where the academy takes Sera, Exo and Spade
No spoilers of any kind included except this and that is there is a cliffhanger waiting at the end of the story. But other than that I actually enjoyed reading this book and I will be patiently waiting for the next book. As always Yumoyori Wilson took me on another emotional roller coaster ride like she does with all her stories but this one actually had me hating some of the characters and that’s a first but that’s not stopping me from want to read the next story in this series because I need to know what happens next to Sera, Exo and Spade. So it’s a yes I do recommend this book because I thought it was really good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read, though I felt like it was really just getting started when I got to the “to be continued.” As always Yumo has amazingly well written characters and an incredible storyline. Tons of magic and a little sadness mixed in with all the love and humor. Yumoyori Wilson is a master when it comes to the perfect balance of all the feels and entertainment. I very much look forward to the coming of book two in August. 😍
Yumoyori Wilson has done it again. This is a new series in the same world as her Unicorn Blessed Chronicles series and has some crossover characters. It’s great to see these characters again.
I loved Seraphina as a mc. She is great. I also enjoyed the relationship between Serephina and Exo and Spade.
Ended in a bit of a cliffhanger but not too bad. I can’t wait for the next one.
Yet again another great series coming to life. In this book you get the back story of sera's upbringing and her guard exodus and her familiar spades relationship. Until it all comes crashing down just before she gets her acceptance mail from unicorn university. Where the story takes another interesting turn. You will not be disappointed
No....just no!! You cannot leave me hanging like that. I need to know more....more about the new guys and more about what's going to happen! I'm not sure if I should be cheering on Spade with his killing thoughts or laughing at Xion's sneezing/freezing fit! And then there's Dexter and Otis....and of course my favorite so far, Exodus. I need more now!!
I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!! I mean every book I read from her transports me into another world full of steamy romance and a freaking fantastic adventure. This book was no different, grabbing me right from the start and hooking me, leaving me wanting more. So much MORE! Cannot wait for book to to meet more of the other guys!
Enjoyed the world building, enjoyed the cute mens, enjoyed the carefree vibe of it all. I've been reading a lot of academy romances lately and it can really big down with intense drama. I didn't want to put this one down because it was a colorful escape! Authoress, I love how your mind works, keep being awesome!
This book seems slow to start, the MC is an awesome daughter.. Studies as hard as she can and learns what her parents want just for their approval and praise.. She has the best familiar that her magic created.. And a very loyal bodyguard/boyfriend. She joins the Unicorn academy.. And is beginning a journey.. Look forward to the next book..
Loving this new series. Celestia and her adventures were a wonderful series. Now with Unicorn Academy we not only get more Unicorns but we get MOMo back. (Gotta read Celestia to understand the cuteness) This series brings you royalty issues to another level. Can't wait to see what Seraphina and her men get into.
This was a cute read. I've read plenty of RH books from Yumoyori Wilson and she definitely had a pattern/theme. This author loves her bright colors, the FMC typically adores pink and sweets, the guys have variety/diversity, mismatched eyes and streaked hair. It's a running theme in all of her books so far. She is also a great world builder and typically great with her characters personalities. Still a great job in this book also. Love Spade and Exodus a lot. Seraphina will take some getting used to because she has a ton of self doubt that was repeated throughout this story- almost too much. My one gripe was that it was so short. Also the intro to the Academy felt a bit rushed too. I do wish the author would stop the time jumps- fill us in on some of the 2.5 months that passed of the 1st semester- how Spade and Sera's relationship progressed. More about the teams and what it means, Other students etc. I've come to expect more. That teaser at the end was nicely done and I am intrigued enough to wonder how will the hodgepodge of men mesh and is this her true harem? Xeon and Otis (really Otis?!) are a$$hats and Dexter is just there and referenced as a nerd. I disliked how they were introduced, but time for the waiting game to see how this plays out.
Avery Song aka Yumoyori Wilson is an awesome author and i'm loving all her stuff! Also academy reverse harems are my sweet sweet kyptonite. This isnt my favourite of her works its hard for me to gel with a princess i guess especially since shes so far not my type of female protag. Which is usually more of a sarcastic strong badarse with a tough exterior and ooey gooey centre. Its interesting to see a pre established harem member though and while ive read a familiar as a harem member concept before i want to say cruel academy? And another that i cant remember the name of where he was born rather than created this is fun to see a different concept to the familiar relationship. Idk how i feel about the 2 newbies and the prince seems well interestingly obnoxious in hoping they all chill a hit and find there common ground and strong relationships and all that in the next book though haha. Also her parents are such dicks my gods like wow. Yeah i hope shes safe and happy at the academy i cant deal with that evil drama i hope i get to see her grow into a strong and confident chick!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This seems almost too short. You are introduced to the lovely MC Unicorn. She goes through some major life changes to gain the goal of changing her whole life. I am a little nervous by the direction of this book with a familiar in love with his Mistress (not sure about that since most seem to have a Paternal or Maternal relationship) and a fiance who is allergic to familiar's?!?!?!?!?!?! Things seem okay then go to pot very fast which guides her way to the University. If you loved Celeste I know we'll see her very soon, but not in this book.
This is a strong start to a unique series. I really connected to the characters in this book and I liked that Yumoyori Wilson didn't rush the story if them getting to the Unicorn Academy. Some authors of this genre try to condense the background story too much and then they just feel rushed and more of an after thought then the beginning of a series, so I was happy that this book didn't do that as it allows you to connect better with the book.
Yumo's previous work in this world was awesome and I loved it and so far these characters are as awesome, if not better! Sera is doing all that she can to learn and gain the ability to shift into her unicorn, but her parents aren't really helping. This book pulled at my heartstrings and I can't wait for the second semester and getting to know everyone in her team!
Sera is a unicorn princess that can’t shift which is her downfall. I loved the twist of how far her parent betrayed her, really got me as a reader to sympathize with Sera. I like the dynamic between Exodus and Spade. My only complaint is that I wish that the ending didn’t feel like a drop off. Not really a cliffhanger but just kind of felt like it just stopped. But I am interested see where it picks back up in the next book
Totally not how i thought this book was gonna be idk what i thought but this wasn’t it.... it was so much freaking better ugh i love how much detail with the characters i always say that when it comes to a yumo book but seriously my favorite thing specially with a new series she build such a detailed picture for each character and the cliffhanger queen hit me again and can’t even be mad it was that good
This spin off from the stories of Celestia and her men is quite the read. Sera is a quirky and fun young lady willing to do whatever it takes to become who she is meant to be. And I am beyond ecstatic that there is a super adorable character appearing in this series from Celestia! Cant wait to see where this goes from here.
Serefina is awesome. Accepted to Academy, she deals with a lot emotionally. This is another awesome read by Yumoyuri. Her characters always have backgrounds that directly effect who they allow themselves to be. This one is no different. But it’s a great read and looking forward to two.
