I went through so many different emotions while reading this book. Heartache, anger, intrigue - just to name a few. I was interested in this book from the moment I saw it was coming, and it didn't let me down!!

DNF @ 40%- the writing on this one is nice, but a little too poetic for my tastes. Ultimately, this just wasn’t for me. The storyline didn’t pull me in, the plot felt a bit boring, and I didn’t really feel a connection to the characters

The premise of this book is good, but the writing is not great. There is zero relationship development and there just isn't enough background to feel a connection with the characters or their stories. But, it's a quick read and I'm interested in the story so I'll continue reading.

“Even if you could stand, I wouldn’t want to let go.” 🥹
If you’re looking for a light hearted, bubbly read…this book is not for you. The only way I can describe it is that’s it’s stripped back and raw. The author captivates you with her writing in this book, honestly. The first chapter I was like, ok wow. I’m staying for this whole tragic, heartbreaking journey. I was routing for Macie’s HEA from the start, I wasn’t putting this book down till this girl gets a glimpse of light and life. It’s so incredibly dark and heart achingly sad. Not only for Macie but all the guys too, Max, Adley and Noah 🥺🖤 I love them all so much. They are the sparks of light in each other’s dark, dark worlds. I want to get to know the guys more and unravel more of the horrific past of Macie. I had to bust the wine out for this book, that’s when I know it’s angst galore!! 😩

There is so much left to happen and I refuse to stop this journey here, I am off to devour the next book in the series. If they don’t get a HEA I will starts a protest 😂 I’m not joking…

Wow all the emotions that you can have this book runs through you as we watch Macie learn that once you lose everything you learn to appreciate what you had. Sometimes you have to live in the dark to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I wasn't a fan of this book. I usually can relate to depressed or disabled heroines but I didn't find the MC likable. I think my main problem was how the introduction to this book was written. You find out that MC loses her family and her ability to run, but you don't know why or how this happened. I did like the fact that the MC is in a wheelchair. I would like to see more disabled characters in my fiction. MC is made to go to a school for troubled teens called Save Haven. There is little description of the MC appearance besides being pale and not wearing the clothes she wants. You have to wait all the way until chapter 3 to find out the MC name which is Mackenzie (Macie). You meet Max and Adley but unfortunately the way the author does her descriptions it was hard to tell which one of the boys was had dark brown hair or just had dark hair. Seriously, character descriptions being sprinkled in randomly makes it very hard to picture the character. It's understandable that the MC has a chip on her shoulder but I can't read any redeeming qualities that make me like or care about what is happening to this heroine. Maybe later on in the book she become likable but I am already bored at 20% into the book. I gave it an average rating because the premise wasn't bad... but overall this book wasn't for me.

Amazing
This book was amazing, but it leaves off on one heck of a cliffhanger. I literally almost threw my phone just because I wanted there to be more. What Macie goes through is something no one should ever have to go through, but the way she comes alive and finds a reason to continue when she meets the guys is just amazing. Can't say enough good things about this book. It's a definite must read!

Ugh! Macie Davenport is soooo annoying!
I know. I should be empathised with her. After all she’s gone through great tragedy. Been brutally stabbed, witnessed the murder of her parents and younger sister, then the perpetrator burned their house down. Macie is left and invalid, unable to walk, either through physical injury or trauma.
Shipped off to a kind of rich girls reformatory school because everyone thinks she did it.
After wallowing in pages of self pity (at the start) and basically becoming only a shallow version of her former self,, therapy sessions not working, we are completely aware of how low on the emotional scale Macie is....Until!
She spy’s two hot young guys landscaping the grounds from her dorm window.
Then, before you can say threesome our girl Macie has managed (in a blink of an eye) to put all thought of her brutally murdered family aside while she gets herself all hot and bothered over Max, Adley, and eventually their other friend Noah.
Of course, all the boys are madly (instantly) attracted to her and, desperate for her attention....What’s a girl with major issues (family dead and all) to do??? ...Pursue them of course..ALL of them . Why? Because they all have problem with dying sisters, and family issues and our girl Macie has such a big heart she’s going to help them all.
If there happens to be a big of fondling and making.out along the way...Well it’s win-win for Macie.
Although, if all these boys have baggage and (of course) Macie has baggage that they want to know about, well they can all sit around and unload on each other.ya know a problem shared and all that...
Dom Adley,s sister (Macie’s physical therapist) was right when she tells Macie that her.brother won’t go to Duke because he is going to feel obligated to stay and help her. Then Macie says it know she’s right but I’m selfish and want keep him him with me’ she want to keep all three boys despite them all going their own separate way after the summer? You know to have lives.
Macie has suffered trauma so I get it she emotionally all over the place BUT! She’s also a needy, selfish, greedy bitch...by the end of this book I was kind.. of hoping someone would take her out...Should bother with the next one...hmmm 🤔

Sometimes, it takes losing everything to really appreciate what you had. Macie learns this lesson the hard way. Now she is stuck in an all girl school with a bad attitude. Rightfully so, considering the way she is treated. When she finally has a small amount of light show up in her dark world, she grabs it with both hands. Will she be able to hang on to it though?
Oh my ever loving goodness, this book. It was a little slow at the very beginning but it steadily picked up for me throughout. The not knowing, that's what really keeps you hanging on. Then that ending. Holy hell. This is legit what I sent Erin after I read it:

So yea, I loved this book. Macie is a very strong character who has been through a lot. Something nobody should ever have to go through and it has changed her whole life. Not only by what she no longer has, but her overall outlook. Even though she needs to rely on others now, she's fighting for her independence the whole way.
We meet three guys in this book. They are all different and have struggles in their own way. They take right to Macie and you can't help but to feel for each of them. This is a slow burn so we don't have all that hanky panky going on.
We do somewhat find out what happened so we aren't left completely waiting on that. We are left with questions though and man, I'm dying here to find out what's going on. Definitely recommend this book.

4 "wish-there-was-more" stars!
I was absolutely in love with the beginning and introduction to the main 3 guy characters. They have really sweet and meaningful moments when going from strangers to friends. I highlighted a lot of lines because the writing was spectacular at parts. Overall, I really felt deeply for Macie and the situation she was in.
The guys was each likeable in their own ways, and it's for this reason that not getting more relationship development was disappointing. I felt as though the transition from strangers to friends was well done and intriguing, but the transition from being friends to dating was too fast. I would've liked to see more bonding scenes before they made that leap into RH (which they all seemed to accept too readily for a contemporary novel), especially before the drama from Macie's past heightened in severity and pulled attention away from the romance.
The characters' chemistry was wonderful and exciting to read about (I read both books in the span of a nightfall to sunrise; I did not sleep AT ALL lmao). Adley, Max, and Noah were perfect for Macie, and after they shit she's been through, she deserves it~
Overall, I say give this one a try, it's on KU :) Happy reading

So I wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to read this book because I haven't heard much or read any reviews but I must say I really enjoyed it. There is so much secrecy in this book that you are just dying to know the answers too. Macie is in a wheelchair and has been sent to this girls school called safe haven academy, all we know is that it's for girls that have problems.
She meets these boys that are working there called adley max and noah and they hit it off straight away not caring that she can't walk,
It's actually lovely how they are with her but they know something isn't right, macie is hiding alot of secrets and you don't find out what they are until near the end of the book (which broke my heart by the way).
I am having to dive into the 2nd book straight away as book 1 can not leave me hanging like it has done.
There are so many questions that I need answering and I need to know what will happen between her and the boys!!
Will they find out what really happened the night macie ended up in a wheelchair and who is the mystery person??

There are no words to describe how much I enjoyed this book. E.M. Moore has long been a favorite writer of mine, but this book is her best to date! I experienced so many different emotions while reading this book from heartache to anger and everything in between. I was for this book from the moment I saw it was coming and it did not disappoint. Macie is so broken on so many levels, but is so strong at the same time. Her guys are what bring her back to life and it is exciting to watch. The twists and turns in the plot keep readers interested and leave them hanging in the end, wondering what will happen next in the story. I truly loved this book and am excited for the next book in the series.

I really loved A Sky So Dark. The female lead is so broken. Us as the reader just told bits of what she went through. We know it’s something bad. We know she is struggling. We just don’t know from what. So that by the time we do know why, we are so invested in her. And they guys, are so damn sweet. They pull her out of her darkness. I think this is a beautiful story, and I cannot wait to see what happens next. By the way, yes there is a cliffhanger, one that had me screaming noooooo!!

This story had me on an emotional rollercoaster at times. For the most part things were very dark for the main female character, Macie. She’s a tough cookie though and refuses to break no matter where they send her or what happens, she has an inner spirit. The light comes in the form of 3 male characters, how do they give light to the situation? Well that you need to read the book to find out! The plot has it’s ups and downs where pace is concerned but it’s an overall great read.

Deep but very meaningful
Well, by chapter 3 I was seriously wondering what the heck I had started reading, totally out of my usual, to the point I was thinking I couldn’t do this and was going to finish at the end of the next chapter, but something kept me going “just one more page”
What an epic journey of 4 young people all buried in their dark black back stories and how they all seem to connect at different points and become each other’s lifelines. Totally glued to the page by the end and have already downloaded book 2 so I can keep the immersion rolling.

I'm loving this duet! One girl suspected of murdering her own family, yet left in a wheel chair, her legs immobile, save the twitching in her toes, is stuck in Safe Haven. Her doctors want to know what happened, but she's not talking. She meets three hot guys and forms a friendship, maybe more, but just as the possibilities start so do the threats.
I love how fast paced the suspense is in this story. With that and how the romance between her, Adley, Max and Noah develops, this is really gonna be great! I can't wait to read the next book.

This was a totally different story from what I’m used to reading by E.M. Moore but it still had the heart and captivating story she always provides with every book she writes. Macie’s introduction was immediately heart breaking. There was a lot of mystery surrounding what she’s been through and the particulars of what happened. A Sky So Dark had its sad moments but I loved reading the time she was with Noah, Adley and Max. The end definitely had me wanting to read the next book to see what happens!

This is slightly different to the usual books I read by E.M. Moore, but in no way was I disappointed! As usual the writing style, story and characters hooked me! The guys are so sweet and caring and as for Macie you can tell she is so troubled, scared and depressed. When they all meet together it's as if the sun finally comes out....I just loved their chemistry and interactions!
I can see the story getting darker as it went on, I can't wait to see what happens next!

A quick and easy read, for all that it dealt with darker themes I found this book rather light. Macie is stuck in a school for "troubled" girls but quickly meets some cute guys doing landscaping. I enjoyed the premise, and Macie being in a wheelchair added a great dimension to the book. But everyone fell in love and became inseparable absurdly quickly. There really wasn't any character development, or great depth to the characters, which is why I found it a very light book. I did quite enjoy it.

I'm not sure where to start. There's a lot of turmoil with Macie. She's shipped off to a bad girls home after an event that put her in a wheelchair. For most of the book we see how she tries to just exist in a world without her family. She sees two guys landscaping the grounds of Safe Haven and her world becomes brighter. But someone is trying to destroy that brightness. She's starting to remember and now I want to know who. Gah this book sucked me in!

I loved this story. Macie is unable to walk due to a tragedy at her home. No one believes her as to what happened. Along comes Adley, Max and Noah. Will they be able to help her come out of the darkness she feels shrouded in and help her see light again? I love how this story is unfolding. The end completely snuck up on me in not time. I didn't want to stop reading. The cliffhanger is killing me. I need to know what happens from here.

Wonderfully suspenseful and mysterious yet amazingly heartwarming, this book flew by as I devoured each page. The reveals were perfectly placed with a hint of what is really going on here and another there. Just enough to wet your appetite and leave you salivating for more. Hate the cliffhanger but want to read the next book now! Great characters and exceedingly well written, I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Recommend.

Such a different tale this is. I love this story! Such a broken female lead character, Macie makes you feel... Don't even get me started on the guys. Just the fact that three very good looking guys all besties treat her so well. The murderer looking to strike, the shadow that the police think that she killed her family, just because she was home. Despite ending up temporarily paralyzed because of what happened.

Not my favorite EM Moore book, but not bad. As some of the other reviews mentioned, I wish there was a little more dialogue and action. This one has a lot of the MFC’s inner dialogue and it is a little overwhelming and drawn out. It’s still good, but I’m such a “Ballers of Rockport” fan that this one fell a little short for me. I’m looking forward to finishing the series though!

My heart hurts for Macie. I can’t even imagine what she’s been through. She’s definitely living in dark days. It’s hard for her to see anything. But then she meets Max, Adley, and Noah, and suddenly things seem brighter. There’s light at the end of a very dark tunnel and it doesn’t seem so out of reach.
A Sky So Dark will pull at your heartstrings. EM Moore is a fantastic author and this book is no exception.

This book follows Macie as she has flash backs to the traumatic events that caused the loss of her family and her injuries. Wrongfully placed in a school for troubled teens, Macie meets Ashley, Max and Noah who give her a spark back in her life. Macie’s flashbacks revel more of what happened to her as the story goes on and more to the mystery unravel.
This book finished on a cliffhanger ready for book two.

Wow, the feels in this one! The grief our heroine is going through is so tangible that I want to reach into this book and give her a hug. There’a also a mystery at the heart of this story and I can’t wait to read the next one and (hopefully) find out what it is!

So, great start of a series, I like Macie, she's a tough cookie trying to live after a great tragedy. Adley, Noah and Max are her lifelines in this crazy school she's attending. Macie has been sent to Safe Haven after a horrific event that left her in a wheelchair. When Macie meets three guys some color comes back into her life. I really liked Macie, and am hooked. This is the first book in the series, and while we get a few answers I have so many lift. Hopefully we don’t have to wait long for book 2!
