Did my cat just give me life advice? Oh, man. I’ve been operating my PI business for a while now, without much success. Business is slow. Really slow. So when the mayor knocks on the door and asks for my help, you’d better believe I sit up and take notice. Welcome to the life of a (not-so) talented, single, messy, amateur witch PI. The mayor’s troubles keeps getting worse and then a dead body turns up. I think it’s time for another cup of coffee… or maybe five. This collection contains the first five books in the Hillcrest Witch Mystery series. These are laugh-out-loud, clean cozy mysteries featuring Penny Banks, an amateur sleuth and budding witch. Get to know Penny, her quirky friends, and their lovable familiars. Who knows… you might just learn a spell or two along the way! Loved this box set. Reading all these books in the box set was fun because of the characters. It's amazing how the characters of a book make or break the book. In this case, the characters made the book. The books were entertaining, easy to read and fun. The nice thing is anyone can read these books. There's even a touch of romance in the books. I just loved this box set and hope to see more box sets from Amorette Anderson in the future. I recommend these books. Also, I hope to have the paperback version someday. These books are just magical. Please give Amorette Anderson lots of love by buying her box set. Amorette Anderson's books are on Amazon.com. The link is: https://www.amazon.com/Amorette-Ander... . Now since you have the link now go out and buy, buy, buy and read, read, read Amorette Anderson's Books and box set.

I don't usually read paranormal stuff but this is my year of the cozy so I challenged myself to read all kinds of cozies. I'm glad I did because this set is really good. It's not real spooky but it is really funny. The characters are great as is the setting. A whole town of witches! All kinds of things go on in Hillcrest. You can't go wrong reading this series.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Great series! Novice witch Penny gathers her friends to form her coven. In every book she improves her PI skills solving mysteries with the help of her cat familiar Turkey and her friends. It’s a fun series, easy to read and each book leaves you waiting for the next one. I recieved an ARC copy of the set in exchange for an honest review. Can’t wait for the next book!

Even the travel agency seems appropriate -until you look it up and find that it s available- just contact the “Uniregistry Corp.” Then again, I can t think of an easier way to join the Hillcrest community (quietly and in the background to start with), emerging out into the community when you get settled.

Back to the case at hand: It s always nice to have an ongoing case lined up so you can appear to be busy with important work. When in actuality, you re really just killing time. Even better is to name it: “The Case of the Cat Doodles”.

Her boyfriend seems to have an awfully high rank for a 5 person department (including the chief), and as small as Hillcrest is described to be.

On the plus side of things, and her boyfriend does sort of appreciate her fledgling entrepreneurial business of being the only Private Investigator in town. He gives her an item that every PI needs.

Even though this is just a sub section of this book, I m sure you can guess what happened during the instructions on how to use it! You ll have to get this book to read it yourself!

No, Penelope your heart is trying to guide you. You were right: if he wanted you, why was he spending years -not a few dates, but years- dating someone else? Listen to your heart, it ll lead you to what s really right for you.

If following the grownup path in life is what Penelope is trying to do, she needs to lose some of her: {“Penelope sounds like the kid who seen a sign that read: “I ve tried that ‘GrownUp’ thing, and I really don t think that it ll work for me!”} and be ready to fly.

After seeing the town s antiquities dealer, only one question comes to mind: “How does she run a business with that lousy of a memory?”

And on to her other meeting where she learns of the Nipponese art of “Shinrin-yoku” (Forest Bathing) one of the best things that you can do to help heal yourself and help keep your sanity when you re surrounded by a “sea” of other people. And finds out that even pets can benefit from doing it for at least two hours each and every day. For Terrans, being out in nature can be therapeutic and ground you. The fact that she has this as a job can be an added bonus to her PI work -2 hours per day to think through her case(es), certainly can be a great way to see how things could ve happened, allowing for you to figure out what actually did happen.

Well the case is solved. You ll have to buy the book to get the laughs and see all the good stuff.

Assumption that guest will have visitor(s), has wolves in the area, Guest doesn t broadcast his intentions (Strictly for the story, reasonable (IMO)), The story has a secret, yet no one else should have their own,

Could be an unknown werewolf (female) - given her Indian heritage- she could be a natural. If the Witch in training could quit trying to read/follow some books by a person who hasn t demonstrated any actual knowledge (stating obvious gems of knowledge that have been quoted over the years, isn t actual knowledge of how to run a business).

One of the other Witches in training (small coven) lives in a THOW (Tiny House On Wheels), and evidently certain towns in Colorado allow stealth camping. {Usually if you stealth camp -and the local police find out- the camper will receive various amounts of grief}. Ahh, outside of the town s limits. You only have to worry about county and state jurisprudence. Too many public lands to get into trouble unless you really screw up.

Unlike most stealth campers, their THOW doesn t have dark tinted windows, or evidently blackout drapes. Followed by parking under a street light isn t exactly the most intelligent action for an all night surveillance. Naturally the van is spotted and so are they by the person of interest.

Some unique characters in this town werewolves, witches, goblins, ghosts, philosophical vampires: “Thoughts are everything. You can’t have a conversation about anything without talking about consciousness. That’s because consciousness is everything.”

PI needs to study

Well another book and another case. Starting with a refresher exam on Penny s PI work. On the way home from celebrating the end of the exam, she walks in on the case.

And so starts her investigation. She starts off with a small group of suspects, except she hasn t learned yet: To always assume that there is one or two more than you originally thought. You can always eliminate them from your investigation or other circumstances down the road, but it will usually save aggravation.

After arriving home, she discovered that someone took her ASBW book.

By this point, you ll be able to think of at least one other person/suspect. She dances all around the extra suspect and yet she s totally oblivious to the person. She really needs to work on her PI skills.

Since one of the steps for the Spell of this book is to intentionally forget, is it possible that they ve all misplaced or lost their copies of the ASBW book for a reason?

Obviously Penny doesn know how to think like a crook. If the tape stretches -you unlock the door- duck under the tape, and go in. Unless Hillcrest is very unique, the door opens inward. It is supposed to be a town in Colorado. Scandinavian societies have doors that open outward as a rule.

Her former boyfriend doesn t believe in either witches or magic. Why does she try to explain it to him. Especially a police officer, who, if they are any good, are natural skeptics.

If anyone who is a police officer believes in either, they have to keep it buried or they ll lose their rank and position. If you do use everything you have grown up with, following your “hunches” is acceptable. However, back it up with solid police work.

So she gives her ex boyfriend one of her suspects and a very plausible case against him that doesn t require magic to prove in a court. Effectively throwing him under the jail for premeditated murder. The fact that she handed everything to a cop doesn t even enter her naive brain? Does she even have a brain?

How this will affect her friend and her pregnancy with her blabbering mouth is anyone s guess.

Why does Penny jump to conclusions? Especially with too little information.

It goes on from here, but you ll have to read it for yourself.

~ Killing your competition?

Somehow it seems longer than just a half a year. Not that that s a bad thing. Having any business while being slow can be beneficial. It allows you to pace yourself.

Ahhh Penelope, trying to become a witch, yet still thinking like a Terran. :D

Shockingly, it s not Penelope who comes up with the unique idea this time. We find that some things appear to be the same, no matter what Realm you re from. Sports seem to be a catch all good will amongst civilized beings. So why not have an inter-Realm Championship in downtown Hillcrest? (Makes perfect sense to me!)

Just a small hint Penelope: {You re reading too much into the spell Penelope}. You need to focus on the moment instead of the entire world.

[{}]

What a way to catch a murderer from another Realm: got to be ware of witches who re masters/mistresses of the infamous “Tickle Attack”, errr “Torture”! To think that was only the start.

You ll have to get this book or box set to see how it all works out for the very first Walterdon at Hillcrest! Trust me it s worth it! ;)

To see or not to see ~ this is the question!

We pick up our bumbling private investigator in February, still wanting work to conform to her schedule. Penelope/Penny needs to learn that when you hang up your sign that you re available for hire, you cease to have a normal life and it usually works exactly opposite of what your hopes and dreams for your business would be.

We soon see this case beginning with a brains and brawn type of relationship.

{Ever think that the difficulty hearing could be an act? Hiding behind something that either isn t there, or Not not as bad as believed.

Could Marley have an unknown “Uncle” {grandfather and Victoria}?}

Marley doesn t feel right about asking her dad to get a hotel room for his visit, because her preferred home is a THOW {Tiny House On Wheels}. She just needs to realize that: “house-less” doesn t mean that your van isn t a home! California where he prefers to live has far more who live in THOWs than Colorado.

You have to get this book! It easily exceeds the last one, and reads easily.

A whimsical set of witch cozies with a ditsy detective and her cat familiar. Now you can get the first five novels in this set in a convenient boxset. Take advantage of this low price and start solving the crimes.

The Case of the Power Spell book one
Penny is a PI though not everyone takes her practice seriously. After flunking out of the local police academy, Penny set out on her new career as a PI. She has been at it for five years, but isn’t quite as successful as she’d like others to believe.

She does have an office. Of course it used to be a supply closet for another business. There isn’t much crime in town so her clients are often few and far between. Most of her office hours are spent knitting. In fact the only thing Penny is always on time for is her weekly knitting circle.

Her fellow knitters are also her coven. A year ago, when a local woman died, Penny inherited an interesting book, The Art and Science of Becoming a Witch, better known in the coven as ASBW. Penny shared the book with her closest friends, her knitting circle, and the ladies began to pursue their new avocation.

With her office, the knitting circle, and her boyfriend, Chris, Penny has a full plate. But when the mayor comes to her asking that she discover the reason behind a secret his wife is keeping, and her unusually sad behavior lately, Penny’s curious mind leads her to a murder investigation of a death the police called accidental.

How can a murder have the answers to the mayor’s questions? Follow penny’s circular trail and find out.

The Case of the Banishing Spell book 2
It is easy to fall into this zany cozy series. Light, enjoyable reading. Penny’s familiar, her cat, Turkey, has quickly become my favorite character.

Things are going fairly well for the Hillcrest Coven. They are making headway through the ASBW. Each is becoming a bit more proficient with magic. But when their town is threatened by werewolves, will they be up to the challenge?

The Historical Society hosts a bonfire dance every fall. Not only is it a big hit for the townspeople, but it provides a good chunk of the Hillcrest Inn’s yearly income. The inn’s yard is the yearly location. The innkeepers, Dawn and Neville, definitely need this event to go off without a hitch.

When there is a large bloody paw print in one of their guest rooms, being rented by a stranger in town not long before the date of the bonfire, it is a cause for alarm. More than that, Neville is positive he spotted two large wolves on the street outside the inn. Could their new guest be keeping a dangerous, endangered creature right there in his room?

It is a good thing Penny is a friend, and will work for jam in this case. She and Marley set up a stake out, only to be thrown into the middle of more late night activity than they ever would have suspected for their town. When the guest turns up murdered, Penny is square in the middle of a murder investigation that very well could involve werewolves!

The Case of the Desire Spell book 3
The girls are back and going strong in this third Hillcrest witch cozy. For a quiet small town in Colorado, Hillcrest is full of fun, fantastic creatures, and murder. If you want a quiet evening being entertained by a zany but lovable group of characters, try out this series.

Penny’s coven is ready for the third cycle in the guide book to becoming witches, The Art and Science of Becoming a Witch. However they run into trouble when all copies of their book disappear. Who could be stealing the precious books and why?

Fortunately for them all, Turkey, Penny's cat familiar, remembers a spell to lock the portal, hopefully ensuring that the culprit can’t leave the Earth realm. There are a lot of suspects. Max, the vampire, once tried to buy the book from Penny, Azure, the Air realm witch, tried to steal it, and though Penny wants to trust Silas, the werewolf, especially now that he is in a relationship with her coven sister, Cora, he is the other new person in town who knows about the book.

Then when Cora’s employer ends up murdered things get even more complicated. Hillcrest is too small for the crimes to be unconnected. Why would anyone want to kill the lawyer? Silas may have a motive since she was representing the Historical Society to try and save a building on land he has purchased, but what about the others?

On top of all else, Penny has been a PI for five years and her license is up for renewal. If she doesn’t pass a review exam by Friday, she will lose her right to conduct investigations! Can Penny come out on top with all these things happening at once?

The Case of the Trust Spell book 4
Four books into this series and fresh wit, the value of friendship and murders are still going strong in Hillcrest. This is a delightfully whimsical witch cozy.

Penny has the portal closed, no one can come in from other realms or leave the Earth realm. Since this new coven inherited the responsibility for the portal, a lot of chaos has entered their realm. Cora also found her perfect mate in a stranger coming to visit the realm. So should the ladies keep the portal closed, or allow others in?

When Annie contacts someone from the Spirit realm in an attempt to speak to her deceased husband, that is the question that arises. Annie and Fred, a spirit living in the Spirit realm, are becoming friends via their remote contact. It seems the residents of the spirit realm are avid tennis fans, and playing in the Earth realm is more of a challenge for them than at home. Twenty years ago there was a tournament for their top tennis players held in the Earth realm. Should the coven let in athletes from Spirit realm visit for round two of this tournament?

The current cycle for the coven is the trust spell, and they are having a hard time with it. Maybe extending trust to other realms will help. Eight tennis players and a judge come through the portal for a two day tournament. Almost immediately someone is murdered. Could they have invited a murderer into their midst?

It’s up to penny to discover the truth before the tournament ends and everyone goes home.

The Case of the Vision Spell book 5
Turkey, Penny’s cat familiar in the series, is the cat everyone needs. He is fast on his way to becoming a tycoon with his online consulting agency. Imagine your cat supporting you instead of vice versa! Dive in to this delightful series and learn to see the world in a different way with The Case of the Vision Spell.

This cycle the witches are quite confused with the Vision Spell. It tells them to learn to see without their eyes. It’s a good thing they have their knitting to keep them occupied while they try and figure it out.

Between knitting, witchcraft, her detective agency and new boyfriend Max, Penny really has her hands full. When the town librarian brings Penny a document that she suspects if forged, she has to put away the needles and start nosing around in the history of one of the town’s revered residents.

Asking questions in the wrong place results in a murder. Penny needs to find all the answers before the town turns out to celebrate their person of the year. Maybe if she can master the vision spell, she will be able to see the situation more clearly. Can Penny learn this spell and find the murderer?

(Book 1): The Case of the Power Spell. What a great story. The mayor of Hillcrest approaches Penny about doing an investigation into a trip his wife planned and paid for but never took. She is leery of taking the job as it seems to be a marital thing, but her rent is due and she has no other options. Penny found out in the first book she is supposed to be a witch, so with the help of a book she inherited and her knitting club, they try out spells and form a coven. And we can't forget the boyfriend Chris, the police captain, and the history they share. Penny also has a cat Turkey/Thomas, who she can now communicate with telepathically after trying out her first spell. She does solve the murder and finds out why Melanie, the mayor's wife never took her trip. If you like paranormal, murder and romance, grab this book it has it all. I found this book to be funny and enjoyable to read. (Book 2): The Case of the Banishing Spell. This is the best book so far. I enjoyed it and read it in one day. Penny is a new witch and a so so private investigator. Her friends call her to investigate a bloody paw print found in one of the rooms at the local inn. The inn owner awakes and sees two wolves in front of the inn, which has Penny wondering if there are other magical creatures in Hillcrest. The visitor to the inn is found dead making her investigation even more important and has her realizing magic might be needed to solve this one. As a result the coven starts practicing the banishing spell with some hilarious results. Are Chris and Penny done? And what does that mean for Penny and Max? I'm not adding anything else, I don't want to give away the story, but I can say I did not guess who the murderer was. (Book 3): The Case of the Desire Spell. Each book I read in this series just gets better. Penny has so much going on in this book. First Turkey informs her that she has to take a test to keep her PI license and its not free. There is a murder in Hillcrest and its connected to the disappearance of Penny's ASBW and all the coven's copies. Cora and Penny are having issues that could destroy the coven if Penny doesn't solve the murder. To top it all off Penny finally figures out how to cast the Desire Spell enabling her to make a decision on what she wants as far as her love life is concerned. If you want to find out how this all ends and who stole the ASBW and committed the murder, buy the book, its well worth it. (Book 4): The Case of the Trust Spell. Penny's fellow witch and friend Annie is down in the dumps, its the anniversary of her husband's death. Over tea and cake, Annie tells Penny how she attempted to find Walter in one of the other realms. While telling her story she mentions she made contact with Fred, a spirit from the Spirit Realm. Fred asks if they will open the portal allowing the Spirit Realm Tennis Tournament team to play tennis on Earth as the gravity is better. Of course Penny agrees, hoping it will smooth things over between the Earth and Spirit Realms. At first everything goes smoothly. 8 tournament players and 1 judge come through the portal. Cora hosts a welcoming dinner, where one of the guests are murdered. Who knew ghosts could be murdered? 48 hours to solve a murder, can it be done? Time will tell. Turkey is his usual self, still using the computer, only this time he has started a business. Join Penny, Turkey and the rest of the knitting club as they try to find the killer. (Book 5): The Case of the Vision Spell. The Case of the Vision Spell is GREAT!!!! The local librarian offers Penny a case looking into a possible forgery of a will. The deceased just so happens to be Marley's grandfather, who died saving his employee and friend in a mining accident. As Penny investigates, there is a murder of one of the suspects. Marley gets her familiar, now that only leaves Annie to find hers. Penny and her knitting club are learning to be witches and they are worried about learning The Vision Spell, if done wrong they could be permanently blind. That's scary, not sure I would be in any hurry to learn that spell. Penny does come up with a spell to protect the Earth realm from anyone entering the portal without Marley, Annie, Cora or Penny knowing. The group of witches are getting so much better at casting spells and getting stronger. Turkey is still Turkey, an awesome cat, he is very intellegent. The drawings are cute and only add to the story, from all the reviews I have read everyone seems to like them, so please keep them coming. Amorette Anderson has a great series going and I hope it continues for a long time and I will be waiting anxiously for the next book. This is one of the better series I have read. If you like books with a little romance, a little mystery, and a little paranormal then give this one a chance. I believe they should be read in order, just so you can see how far Penny has come with her P.I. business and how the coven as grown in their magical abilities. This cozy series has no sex scenes, and no cursing which is a big plus in this reviewer's opinion. If your a good writer you need neither to sell your books. I did receive an ARC copy of this series and am leaving a review because I want too.

Could Marley have an unknown “Uncle” {grandfather and Victoria}?}

I got this for a review. I only do honest and just reviews, that s the only way to write them.

A fun series full of magic and murder!

1. Heaps of fun!
Penny continues (read the prequel first!!!) to be so super endearing! She’s real and not this incredible sort of superwoman who is also incredibly unbelievable and unrelatable. Naïve, yes. Tactless, yes. Blunt, oh yes! But also funny and adorable! I’ve really grown quite fond of her.
And I loooove Turkey, oh no, Thomas I mean. Whoops, sorry Thomas! ;)
A light-hearted cozy. Heaps, and I do mean HEAPS, of fun!
The book is written in first person, present tense, and normally that is not my favorite style, but here it is done in such a way I didn’t even notice at first! Hm, this is a keeper. It’s been a bit hit and miss with the books that I’ve been reading lately, but this one was most definitely a hit!

2. fantastic!
Another installment in this quirky series that I LOVED! This was just right up my alley.
Penny has lots to learn and does that with the help of familiar Turkey. Oh sorry: Thomas Edison Fullbright, I keep forgetting LOL.
I thought it was wacky and crazy and fantastic!

3. How to enjoy The Case of the Desire Spell
* The reader must bathe in a natural water source. If that is not available, a regular bath will do just as well ;)
* The reader must be alone.
* The reader must be clear about his or her desires.
* The reader must practice intentional amnesia.
(Slightly changed spell LOL)
When there’s another murder Penny suspects magical interference. Would Max have something to do with it?
Let yourself be immersed in another fun book! Because this sure was fun once again! Let Penny and her merry band of misfits put a spell on you, as she has done on me.

4. Teach me how to TRUST
Opening up the portal as a peace offering to the Spirit Realm seemed kinda dangerous to me. Asking for trouble. And yes, Penny gets herself and her coven in trouble again! A tennis tournament is to be held, with Spirits competing on Earth, as gravity is better on Earth than in the Spirit Realm. But before the tournament can even start, a Spirit gets murdered. Yes, murdered! I thought a Spirit’d be like a ghost, but Spirits from the Spirit Realm aren’t humans who died. Spirits look like ghosts, but they’re not. They’re just from a different Realm. And in a way, that’s disappointing for Annie, because she really wanted to summon her late husband.
The Trust Spell is like a puzzle. It’s not immediately clear. But maybe it can help them solve the murder, so they have got to figure out how to master it.
I loooved it! Light-hearted, fun; Penny doesn’t take herself so seriously. She’s funny, smart, and warm-hearted. She’s also socially awkward, naïve and under-confident. But she’s growing. As a person, and as a witch. And it’s so lovely to see! The personal growth Penny shows during this series is very realistic. Slowly but steady. I really enjoyed reading about Penny’s transformation. It’s such fun to be a part of Penny’s journey of change. She has learned so much! Still, there lots left to learn.
Penny gets herself into hilarious situations once again. It’s impossible not to smile while reading this book. If you need a boost, a pick-me-up, then this is the book to read! It’s filled with funny silliness.
5 stars for sure.

5. This is the best book in this series so far!
Rebecca the serious librarian / president of the Historical Society has a new case for Penny the PI witch. A puzzle. But first, Penny has a date with Max the vampire. Priorities! Lol.
Penny’s awkwardness is so endearing! She’s not the most coordinated person in the world, to put it mildly. Especially when she’s with Max; she and Max are still in that ‘new-love phase’ and she gets super clumsy around him. She still finds it hard to think straight when she’s around him. But her self-confidence is growing and that’s good to see. And she’s really working hard on being tactful. She’s becoming wiser and more powerful, but luckily for us she isn’t mature all the time. She’s still the sometimes immature, sometimes socially awkward Penny that I’ve come to love. So much fun to read about!
Penny actually thinks this case is going to be boring. Ha! Bwahaha!!!
Turkey’s bringing in the money online; he’s gotten so good with the laptop! He is really getting addicted to being online. He is such a wiz online! He really helps Penny out a lot. He’s one smart familiar and I think he’s so aww cute!
The story is embellished by drawings, and they really add to the story. This is the best book in this series so far, and they were all 5-star reads. So I’d like to give this one 10 stars!

This set contains 5 Hillcrest Witches books. Penny Banks lives in a small mountain town in Colorado. When she inherits a magical book, she and the ladies in her knitting circle begin to study witchcraft -- just in time to protect their town from werewolves, vampires, and spirits! Settle back and enjoy this wonderful collection!

*** Reviewing THE CASE OF THE BANISHING SPELL ***
Finally getting called in on a new case for the Hillcrest Inn, Penny goes to investigate a bloody paw print found in one of the rooms. Turkey, her feline familiar, is a favorite character who helps in her investigations. It appears that a werewolf – oh, they really exist? – has been murdered! Suspecting that werewolves may be coming through an unguarded portal into Hillcrest, Penny and her little coven, learning a Banishing spell as part of their new witch training, hope to banish the unwelcome visitors before they settle in.

The suspect list keeps growing, so Penny looks for help to get some background information she needs from her vampire neighbor. Will they all be able to find the murderer? Will they be able to stop the werewolves from invading the town? Will her coven get the banishing spell right so they can solve this problem?

This series is a delightful one that provides humor, mystery, and personal growth for Penny who is becoming more confident as she leads her coven into the investigations. Her witch skills are steadily, if slowly, improving. Turkey remains a definite favorite, and the secondary characters are a wonderful addition to the story line. Best of all, we have the 5 awesome stories all together in one fabulous collection! You won’t want to miss this one! You next know who you will meet next!

The Case of the Power Spell: I enjoyed this book as it was both an introduction to these fun characters and this world and it was a mystery with some action.

The Case of the Banishing Spell: This might be my favorite just because of the werewolf aspect, but I also really liked the plot. The witch craft aspect wasn't my favorite but the mystery was excellent.

The Case of the Desire Spell: This story was so funny, I love the humor and Turkey is just awesome! Loved Max and the mystery of this story. Okay… this might be my favorite.

The Case of the Trust Spell: The balance between humor, action and mystery us what makes this book and series such a joy to read. This story is about super naturals from another realm. What made it fun was the witches trying to help yet still learning their powers.

The Case of the Vision Spell: Another great addition to this series of standalone. Penny and Turkey work hard in this story and there are some great secondary characters included! I don't want to give away the plot, so I will just say, it was fun and enjoyable.

This is a great series for any reader who wants a lighthearted funny read that is safe and mysterious. If you get the chance also check out The Case of the Love Spell, it is the introduction story to this series and amazing as well. I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.

I really love this series, and have eagerly waited for each book to appear. Penny reminds me of awkward me when I was young, until something gave me hope that I wasn’t just a total mess-up. Let’s face it, most of us have that kind of history in our lives. We can barely trust ourselves;how can we find our power? How can we help others when we can’t even remember laundry day?

That’s who we meet in these stories: Penny Banks:neophyte PI. She’d rather knit than solve mysteries. She loves her cat Turkey, who’s smarter than anyone can imagine, and at the moment, she and her knitting circle are stumbling into the power of becoming...witches after she is given a copy of ‘The Art and Science of Becoming a Witch”.

Each story tackles a chapter in the book, and peeks into the lives of Penny, Annie,Marley and Cora as the Terra Coven works to keep Hillcrest safe from other forces. You never know what the next spell will bring to them, but it sure is fun to find out.

This is a great way to present the five books, in an “easy to reach for” omnibus. Come explore Hillcrest with them, and maybe remember and re-learn that magic is all around us! Highly Recommended 5/5

The power spell
Again it started slow but then I couldn’t put it down. I hope Max is wrong and Chris and Penny can be together. I think they are perfect for each other. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

The banishing spell
Either I’m getting more into this series or the start of this book was better. I enjoyed it from start to finish. Lots of action and some heartbreak in this one. Not sure if I’m happy about Chris and Penny’s situation. Will have to keep reading and see what comes of it all.

The desire spell.
So happy to know that Penny has magical friends in different realms now. Now if she can just hang onto her book so she can complete all her steps. That would be great. The stories keep getting more fun the more I read.

The trust spell
It was so good to see Annie find someone to take an interest in. I hope all goes well for her. Max and Penny seam to be getting closer though I do miss Chris, but if he can’t accept what Penny is becoming then I guess it won’t work for them.

The vision spell
I am enjoying reading about Penny and her covenant and can’t wait to read the next book. Still up set about Chris and Penny not being together but it seems her and Max are doing good.

This is a terrific series that actually starts with The Case of the Love Spell the prequel to this box set.

What would you do if you were given items from a recently departed elderly woman and one of the items was a little book called ASBW- The Art and Science of Being a Witch?

Well this series explores that when Penny does in fact find said book in a box with other items and what happens when she shares the book with her knitting circle friends.

Each book shows the girls finding out new things as they progress and find that there really is magic out there. They see changes in themselves as they follow the advice in the book and even solve murders! Now how cool would that be!!

I do urge you all to pick up a copy of The Love Spell first and then this box set. It makes it so convenient to have the books all together so you can go from one exciting story to the next in order.

I think you’ll agree with me that this is a wonderful series that changes the lives of all the girls but mostly Penny’s!!

This series is so much fun! A private investigator who got her PI certification online. A coven of witch-wannabes learning witchcraft from photocopied pages of a how-to-be-a-witch book. What could possibly go wrong?
PI Penny Banks tries to solve her small town's mysteries with the help of her familiar, Turkey, a cat who communicates to Penny telepathically. Turkey also surfs the web, reads, and actually earns big money as an online consultant. He's frequently the the brain behind her breakthroughs. Penny's exploits with the amateur Terra Coven as they attempt to cast spells often go awry, with hilarious results. Early example: one of the witches actually made her own hair disappear!
These easy, quick-read books have romance, mystery and magic. Despite the fact that Penny and the Coven members show steady growth throughout the series, there are still plenty of laugh-out-loud setbacks. I highly recommend Amorette Anderson's lively Hilcrest Witch series!

I received this set in return for an honest review. The Hillcrest Witch Mysteries are a fun read. The main character, Penny Banks, grows through the storylines, as a private investigator, as a beginning witch, and as a person discovering what she is capable of. She has several good friends who are also going through changes in their lives, as well as new characters becoming critical to the storylines. If you enjoy mysteries, you will enjoy these books. If you enjoy books with a little of the paranormal, including werewolves, good-looking vampires, spirits, and animals who communicate, you'll enjoy these books. If you enjoy fun reads, about good friends and a little romance, you'll enjoy these books. I've been reading these, with interest, wanting to know what will happen to Penny next. I'm looking forward to the next book, to see what spell she and her friends will work on next, and what new characters may arrive. I highly recommend this series.

This is a 5-book set of all the Hillcrest Witch Mysteries. Penny is given a book that turns out to be a how-to-become-a-witch manual. She makes a copy for each of the other three women in her knitting group and the adventures begin.

I read each book individually, and it's been fun watching Penny and her friends change and mature over the series. Penny starts as a PI with no confidence and no customers. But as the series progresses, she gains confidence, learns to trust her instincts and becomes a pretty good PI. The same is true for her new coven. With every cycle, or lesson, in the book and as they each acquire their familiar, they get more comfortable with spells and the other realms. Their skills tend to come in handy with the cases Penny gets, which gives them a chance to practice what they're learning.

It's a fun series to read, and I look forward to new books to come. I received an advanced copy of each book in exchange for an honest review.

This has been such a fun series to enjoy. When we first meet Penny, her special knitting group, and of course Turkey, it's a mad caper from one story to the next. There is wonderful development of the characters from one story to another, almost as if seeing them evolve from one zany mystery to another. If you are interested in lessons to help you in your request to become a "witch in training" , join in one of their gatherings and peruse their special book - it has been helped "Turkey" become the resident cat witch to help you laugh and just plain enjoy the conversations he has with Penny. All of these people in the coven has their own "special" brand" of a "Turkey Pet". Amorette Anderson has really done a beautiful job in portraying these quirky characters, and another addition are the artist's cartoon drawings playfully set throughout. If you enjoy laughter,
these books are for you.

Poor Penny

She is lucky to have Turkey as her sounding board, research guru, and grounded familiar given how clumsy she is. And not talking two left feet, although not the most graceful either. Luckily, she does manage to figure out what is going on even if she tends to guess and all while learning to be a witch. She is surrounded by her knitting circle friends and fellow witches to be who help her as much as they can with her PI cases, but they are all busy themselves and even less equipped to solve them. The first five books do revolve around them learning to master a new skill while watching a magical portal challenge them with beings from other realms. However, in the midst of those mysteries, the human world is filled with a few murders that Penny herself is either hired to solve or finds herself in the middle of things and just plain curious enough to want to solve them. A little romance, a lot of eating, and an all around cute series.

I fell in love with this series shortly after reading the first book. One of the big things for me is there is no explicit sex scenes. I don't mind romance but having anything spelled out isn't for me. Second the characters are so easy to relate to! There is a little bit of me in all the females. Third, the writing is above par. Amorette is a great writer and is one of those authors who encourages emails with her readers. (She always answers.) Fourth is the genres itself! I read and have read many cozy mysteries with and without paranormal characters and/or witches. The absolute best thing is the stories aren't easy to guess who is guilty of what fun thing is going to happen next. If you are looking for an entertaining read which leaves you looking forward to more, this is the series and author to read. You won't be disappointed.

Totally enjoyed this series of cozy mysteries: great characters you'll want to know better, mysteries solved and happy endings. The books can stand alone, but are best read in order. Penny inherits a book about being a witch. As she progresses through the steps outlined, she brings her group of friends along with her. In learning about magic, they learn more about themselves. They meet magical creatures, learn to guard the portal into other realms, solve small town mysteries and support each other. Its not often that a book leads me to read a series- maybe I just don't care enough about the characters, maybe there is too much of the same thing. This series kept my interest, and I look forward to more. I was given a free copy of this set in return for an honest review.

Entrancing Witch Cozy Boxset

The lovely characters in this box set will delight you, and the mysteries will keep you reading long past your bedtime 🌙
Very pleasant read that I enjoyed very much. At first I thought Penny was a teenager. Then it is revealed this not so bright, ditzy girl is 27! Have no fear, she has plenty of personal growth happening throughout the series. She is so adorable it is thrilling to watch her grow and stretch. It goes perfectly with her blossoming into a talented witch PI. With a little help from her friends, of course! I like her being aware of her shortcomings, trying harder, and giving herself pats on the back when she richly deserves one! A well rounded set of stories to cozy up to with a cup of something delicious.

Amorette Anderson is one of the most gifted authors that I have run across. No matter what book you might pick up with her name on it you will know that you are in for a joy ride. This collection contains the first five books in the Hillcrest Witch Mystery series. These are laugh-out-loud, clean cozy mysteries featuring Penny Banks, an amateur sleuth and budding witch. Get to know Penny, her quirky friends, and their lovable familiars. In these novels you will follow Penny in her struggling PI business. The mayor comes asking for her help, and in the midst of everything a dead body shows up – OhDear! I highly recommend these novels! I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the book with no monetary compensation.

Penny Banks operates a private detective agency which is barely paying the rent. She inherits a book that gives instructions on how to become a witch and shares it with her knitting circle friends. With this box set you can get to read how her and her friends from a coven. Each novel stands alone with no cliffhangers. You get to meet vampires, werewolves spirits shifters and other interesting characters. I just love her familiar cat Turkey who helps her with her cases and becomes her financial advisor. I have loved each of these novels and can't pick out a favorite. I received a ARC copy and was not compensated for a review.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SERIES!
Good fun and lighthearted ,magical, with a vampire, shifter wolf and witches familiars that speak telepathically, a knitting circle and a "How to be a witch" manual. These Human women are understated with differing personalities and they each blossom along the way. Penny is a blast on a bicycle, flitting through the clues to solve the mystery of the murders. Rain, hail or shine she peddles to success.
Fun diagrams to help paint a picture of Penny and Turkey scattered throughout. RECOMMENDED READING💥💥💥💥💥

So far I’ve really enjoyed this series about Penny Banks and her knitting circle learning how to be witches and solving some mysteries along the way. Penny does a lot of growing as a person as the series moves along. The characters are all fun and likable. The books are all standalone, but there is an underlying ongoing story, so getting this set is a great way to keep moving along in the story without buying the separate books.

I received a free copy of this set from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Penny and her friends (the knitting club) are learning how to be witches. They found a book on how to be a witch and learning how to do spells. The four friends range from young to old, but they are good friends and support each other. They are funny and charming, and Penny gets them involved in her PI business, solving cases. Her cat (her familiar) is hilarious, and smart. Add in a vampire boyfriend, a werewolf fiance, and a spirit boyfriend, and these friends solve cases in spite of their amateurness. These stories were fun to read and I just loved the characters.

Penny is a PI in a small town with a group of amazing friends in her knitting group who are learning to become witches. There are lot of magical bumps along the way and Penny has a wonderful familiar in Turkey who helps her immensely. Penny and the gang discover how to love and trust while eating and laughing a lot. I'm really looking forward to more in this series and can't wait for Penny to hurt herself some more jumping to conclusions.

This box is a perfect, delightful reading. Whenever you start reading you will want to carry on till the last volume and I'm already eager to read the new adventures by Penny and her coven friends. If you like magic stories, full of mysteries, this surely will be a good choice. Witches, vampire, werewolves, spirits, all of them involved in a good crime scene, being Penny the detective responsible to carry all investigations with the help of her coven and other friends. I'd to thank Amorette for this thrilling and delightful box. Congrats.

A Fantastic Collection! This collection starts with the finding of a book that teaches Penny Banks and her friends how to become witches. Each book explores and completes one lesson. In the beginning Penny is very immature and bumbles through lessons haphazardly. But she is learning and growing every step of the way. Very quickly she and her friends form the Earth Coven and the adventures begin full on! A fun and mostly light-hearted look at a group of women who grow together into some amazing people. A wonderful read and I look forward to watching them grow even more!

This is a fantastic series. Penny is such an adorable heroine. SHe has this amazing heart and will give you the shirt off her back, even if it does have a coffee stain. She is delightfully scatterbrained, and has a magnificent growth throughout the series. The magic has been very well researched, and it’s not a simple flick of a wrist, but contemplative spells that need the witch’s special touch. Also, Turkey is such a fantastic familiar. Trust me.
