Reader praise for "Only the Good" and the Jack Hart mystery
“Only the Good is GREAT!” “Wow!! . . . [T]his series is among the very best.” “A great read! [A]n excellent mystery, very clever and convoluted!”
Seattle attorney Jack Hart is cleaning up the mess his long-lost father left behind. As he juggles his dad’s polluting Bellingham paper mill, his dad’s grand, empty house on Orcas Island, and his dad’s other family, who may not be what they seem, Jack begins to suspect that his father may still be alive – but may want Jack dead.
Rosemary Reeve is an attorney who began her career in Seattle. She wrote the Jack Hart mysteries to entertain her mom, mailing home a chapter each week for feedback and critique. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School and lives in Salt Lake City. She is also a recipient of the Ball Home Canning Award and a blue-ribbon winner at the Utah State Fair for canned tomatoes, peaches, and pears. It all made sense at the time.
The Jack Hart Mysteries are legal page-turners set in the 1990s Northwest:
All Good Things No Good Deed Only the Good Dead Weight
This is the third book in the series. Amazing that insurance fraud could be a compelling story. I read the audiobook and the narration brought the book to life. Jacks family story is full of twists. Enjoyed this book.
This is book Three of the Jack Hart mysteries. Each of the four books in the series has a continual thread that talks about our attorney, Jack Hart. Jack, is a big, lovable, very loyal, man, with his moral compass fixed on the,' I'm a really good guy', point. Not only is Jack a really good guy, but feels the need to right the injustices of the world, and acts on those feelings, but he knows how to be calm and loving to his very skittish girlfriend, his insane-o dog, his best buddy, and he can even put in a hardwood floor. I mean, what's not to like. Besides these very real characters that Ms. Reeve has written she has also added a mystery that Jack must unravel piece by piece until he finds the truth. This book, along with the other Jack Hart mysteries are well worth the read. It will be difficult for even the most hardened Agatha Christie fan to figure out who done it in any of the Jack Hart mysteries. Highly recommended.

In this very fast paced story Jack will always find a way to get hurt with or without police protection. Jack is notified that his long lost father has died and he has a bunch of sisters and an inheritance. A great story with a surprise everywhere.
I couldn’t put this book down. Can’t wait to read the next one. Jack Hart series is amazingly awesome. You pick up this series you can’t put it down till you are done reading it.
Only the Good is an excellent mystery. I loved the depictions of family love amidst deceptions, lies and criminal acts. Northern Washington and the San Juan Islands figured prominently in the story. A great read!
The third book in the Jack Hart series follows on nicely from books one and two but can be read as a stand alone. In Only the Good by Rosemary Reeve we meet up with Jack, the kind-hearted litigator, his girlfriend and long-time friend Mark, not forgetting Betsy the dog with attitude. Mark is still hating his job in the Seattle law firm, but he finds himself in deep water when he is suspected of murder. He might be able to prove his innocence on one killing but the bodies begin to pile up. Adding to this Jack’s family, a family he didn’t know he had, is involved and he finds himself in conflict on both sides of the law. Extra suspicion falls on Jack when it is revealed that he has inherited the family business, the mansion, a holiday home and several yachts. My review for Readers' Favorite - Only the Good by Rosemary Reeve is another action packed, fast-moving novel starring Jack Hunt. I grabbed this to review as I enjoyed the first book in the series. The reader cannot help but love Jack and his friends, even the golden-haired almost out of control Betsy. The plot is tight, the words follow effortlessly and the scenes are described with just the right amount of detail, not too much but enough to take you into each location. The storyline had me guessing as the murders add up and suspicion falls on Jack time and time again. It does not help when the police in Bellingham are determined to pin all the crimes on Jack. At the same time Jack is struggling with his own demons, about his past childhood in a selection of foster homes and his desperate desire to know who his parents were – all is not what it seems. A great read I am happy to award 5 stars and I am off to grab the rest of the series.
I love this series! This is book 3 and Rosemary Reeve has done it again. I love how Jack, Harmony and the crew come to life. I love all the twists and turns the story takes. Just as you think oh I see that's what happened you find out no that's not right at all. I can't wait for book 4 in this great series. Noah DeBaise is the narrator for this series and he is Jack Hart for me. Great job. I was gifted this audiobook with the understanding that I would leave and honest review.
Unfortunately this rating is most likely my fault. Reading a book 3 in a series without the prior knowledge of the proceeding books can really set you up for a complicated think process. Felt lost through most of the complicated relationships. So be forewarned you might enjoy this book more than I did if you read book 1 & 2 first.
This is the best book in the series so far. As with the previous books in this series, it's a light mystery, strong in plot and pacing with likable, compelling characters. And Noah DeBiase again delivers an outstanding performance.
NOTE: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I read all four of these novels, one after another. The three main characters (well, four, if you count the dog) are delightful. The mysteries are intricate. The writing is fast paced, and you can read one in a day or two. Being a Seattleite, I especially loved the references to Seattle places and events.
