Love Wounds was a pretty interesting read. It took me by surprise because it wasn't what I thought this book was going to be about, however, I was pleased with it. Mac touched on love in a totally different light in a way that I have not read before. It was true, pure, spiritually from the soul. This book was so real. It was truly realistic, stuff that everyday people go through. Depression is real and can change a person's life in ways unimaginable, as well as their loved ones and/or the ones that love them.
Graham was such a sweetheart. He was also a very disturbed man who despite all he was going through, still tried to maintain and hold it together so that he could be the man and provide for his family. Although the odds we're against him, he constantly tried. I respected him on so many levels. I felt his pain and could relate to some of him. I loved his relationship with his kids. I loved his relationship with the mysterious woman as well. Although I didn't approve of it in a way, I understood that he needed her, moreso because she uplifted him. She was that person that you could easily talk to and who gave you the advice and conversation without judgement. She accepted him. All of him and always had his back through it all. I honestly believe they are soulmates in every way possible.
Now his wife was a piece of work. Trust and understand, I get it. I get her past and I get how she was feeling. She's only human. I still felt that she was wrong on many levels and will reap what she sow. Yes, Graham was wrong as well, but two wrongs doesn't make it right. I honestly believe that she pushed him away. Truthfully speaking, they both threw in the towel without even realizing it.
I loved Lou. He was truly there for Graham. Darnell on the other hand had so much hate in his heart. I respect him for being there all those years for his father. At least he was there for him. I hope and pray he get himself together, learn to forgive and heal.
Senior was constantly mentioned in this book and I felt as if I knew him. I seriously cried like a baby. It really hurt me and I felt so bad for both Graham and Darnell.
Overall, this was a great read. Yes it started off slow to me but it had that appeal that made you want to keep reading because you needed to know what was going to happen next. I enjoyed the storyline and the development of the characters. I can't wait to see what happens in book two because the ending was crazy bizarre. I can't believe wifey did that! You have to read it!
I give this book five stars, recommend it to others and I will be reading the next installment.
You have really out done yourself with this story line. When your pen meets with the paper, you always put out greatness. I don't think there is any book you have written, that has been a disappointment. This book hit home. I personally know and have watched people suffer from depression. I think if Senior had of had Graham some help, he would of been a lot better. I am glad Graham had Lou at his side, to help him out. Gigi is in need of help and I hope she gets it before, it is to late.
