Genre: Fantasy romance/adventure set mostly in a modern day world where mythical beings are seeking a way to return to Earth from another plane of existence. A pretty clean romance with fade to black instead of a sex scene and no heavy foreplay.

Wandering throughout life hoping that you’ll meet someone who will one day compliment you and sharing your all with each other. That is something the majority of the world is looking for, if they haven’t already found it, right? Created as a species who can carry on but so far on their own, will always have that inner inclination that something is missing. It’s only a matter of time before one realizes it’s not necessarily what, but who that is. We begin searching at every opportunity, finding by hope and some wishful thinking that someone is likely to fall into our lap by chance.

In “Finding My Lich,” author Christina Winds introduces her readers to two very special individuals that are from very different worlds, yet somehow cannot see their lives without each other. Tamara Wyers, a businesswoman running a charity foundation that teaches as well as give and Eric Lichner, a king from another dimension, while also a businessman running a corporation to offer his people the opportunity to live on Earth. What makes these two so drawn to each other is not only them being good individuals, Eric has the yearning tendency to want to learn more from Tamara, while also being drawn to her genuine “goodness.” As a human woman, Tamara soon discovers the secret that Eric was trying to creatively tell her, without risking potentially losing her for good. The life of the King of Abbadon and Lich doesn’t necessarily scream that humanity would be as accepting as he would like. What has been mentioned by one of his councils, humans are stronger than everyone credits them for. Does this automatically mean that Tamara is entirely on board with possibly becoming a member of his world, as his queen? One would be surprised to learn about how she handled the shocking news and what she does moving forward. The character’s emotions are powerful towards each other, feeling as if there is nothing that could separate them, especially with Eric’s acts of protectiveness towards her. Has he truly found his life companion in a human woman and what separates her from all of his previous encounters of others in the past? You’ll only know more when you read this book, full of magic and intimate expressions shared between individuals with a connection on a deeper level.

This book was a true page-turner for me, I had trouble setting it down, I'm impressed. The author provided a well-rounded description of all characters involved, with a few their backstories to give clarification on their purposes within the story. I personally felt swept into their worlds, in understanding exactly how both Tamara and Eric have felt throughout their journey from the moment they met. Knowing that humans and liches aren’t a dynamic duo as far as relationships are concerned, learning from both dimensions can only leave room for learning. The future of being genuine and kind-hearted to others, no matter their species seems to be a possibility everyone can hope for.

If you're looking fie Narnia, imagine the problem in reverse. King Eric of a certain magical kingdom has a prophecy to fulfill and time is running out. His maker, fondly called The Old Man, has Provided a magical hourglass to assist the lich king. Each grain of sand that falls through the hourglass means the King is doing the right thing.

But for centuries King Eric and a trusted band of Abaddon councillors have been watching the hourglass carefully. Some experiments have worked. Other activities work and then the hourglass stops running. Then it stopped allowing a single grain of sand for decades. King Eric is under a deadline and political enemies in his kingdom are watching every move.
On Earth, only a few Abaddonites have been allowed to visit Earth through magic portals. This is so they can access King Eric's front, a company called Agoodon. Doing good work in enough amplitude is King Eric's challenge.
But can he converts the races of ogres, sphinxes, gryphon's, imps, and others on Abaddon to lead generous, munificent lives? Not hardly, when violent skirmishes, selfishness, and gruesome attacks occur between the races and clans day by day.
Clever writing traces the alternate universe and its "problem". Everlasting life has its limits. And after fighting so hard to win kingship, Eric must channel his lich magic making powers to the universal good. Researching how to this brings Tamara into his world. To say that he is not ready for her is an understatement. In a very realistic way the king falls for a mortal, further complicating matters.
King Eric runs a company on Earth but explores his nascent beginnings as an adopted child in Abaddon..Taken in by a caring ogre clan, King Eric knows first hand hiw abandoned children in Abbadin (get it?) suffer and sometimes survive.
King Eric searches out his mother figure for counsel, comfort, and wisdom. Finding My Lich is the title with more than one meaning.
The tension builds as the hourglass prophecy takes on speed. There's a villain or two lurking in the underbrush. No telling who. The ending is not as predictable as the reader thinks, even those who have polished off this and that series or epic saga. "Finding My Lich" is rewarding a good read with some very knotty philosophical themes to ponder. And one or two characters you may guess the identity of..

This book might read as young adult, but the issues of violence, world hunger, and other plot twists has some very mature themes. Briefly some mature subject matter. But otherwise Finding My Lich is a glorious adventure into a magical world where even the king is surprised by romance and love.

Eric is the king of Abaddon who has been tasked with figuring out the way that his banished people will be allowed to be brought back to Earth. He has a portal through which he can go between Earth and Abaddon. He had thought this would be a relatively easy task, but centuries have gone by. He learned some lessons early on, like charity and justice, but others took longer to appreciate. Sands in an hourglass mark this immortal’s progress, and he hasn't seen any in decades. What pieces of the puzzle is he missing?

This book comes across, and not in a bad way, as a mixture of morality tale and paranormal romance. Eric and Tamara are decent, good-hearted, and kind people who want the best for their worlds. They have different strengths and weaknesses, yet their strengths are intensified when they are together and their weaknesses diminished. It was interesting to watch Eric struggle as he was trying to figure out this big puzzle that has been set before him. He wanted to do right was by his own people, getting them back to a world they had been banished from, and by the humans, with whom he wants to coexist peacefully. The lessons that he learns are lessons that would benefit us to fully appreciate, which is why I call this, at least in part, a morality tale. But it is told with such beauty and elegance that it doesn't feel like the author is preaching or moralizing. The love story between Eric and Tamara is beautifully rendered. You can truly see how each makes the other into a better version of themselves, in ways that are physical, mental, and spiritual.

The book did have some strange issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage. Some punctuation was left off, like an occasional period, and hyphens were not always used appropriately.

That said, I found this book to be an engaging read, both in the gentle moments and in the more harsh ones. Eric and Tamara are a great couple to follow as they learn about each other, each other worlds, and their true roles within them. It's hard for me to figure out the precise genre for this, as it has elements of science fiction, romance, and the paranormal. There’s even a touch of suspense as Eric tries to figure out precisely what he is supposed to learn. If you like stories that cross genres like that, you might find this book to be as compelling as I did.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Finding My Lich is a fantastical romance story that crosses the boundaries of the universe. Written by author Christina Winds Finding My Lich follows Eric, king of his people, who has been charged with proving that his people, banished from earth a long time ago for their behavior, are ready to come home. Eric is getting frustrated after hundreds of years as a representative on Earth, and he still hasn't earned his people's place on earth. That is when he meets Tamara, and his life is changed forever.
This story is an incredibly unique fantasy romance tale. The setup of the immortal beings striving to return home is exciting. The book combines a lot of elements that range from fantasy, science fiction, romance, and morality. Eric can use magic, he must argue with angels, and deal with his own immortality on a planet where he must watch his friends die. The complex story is truly captivating. The two pieces of the book that I found most compelling were the romance and mortality.
Tamara and Eric are good people who make the other even better. They have a beautiful and powerful romance throughout the book. I loved watching them grow closer as they also had to deal with the fact that he was not human. The romance between them is well developed and mesmerizing.
The question of mortality is a big one in this story. Eric went to earth and is subjected to several lessons like justice and compassion. What he also learns along the way is just how much pain there is on Earth. Eric has been on Earth for hundreds of years and has to watch everyone he knows die. Knowing that his people are still waiting for him to get them back to Earth, he starts to feel hopeless and incapable of connecting with anyone else. This is when he meets Tamara. Watching them fall in love is sweet but also sad as Eric must deal with immortality all over again. Over was the last thing he expected to happen, but now that it has, he cannot go back. Really appreciated this level of moral and philosophical thought in a story that is such a fun fantasy romance.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a unique and engaging book that is the first in a series. I am excited to see where this story goes. I would highly recommend this book if you enjoy fantasy/sci-fi/paranormal romance books. I would give this book five stars.

Finding My Liche is a fantasy novel by Christina Winds. The premise of this novel is that Eric, king of the Abbadonites, is set with the task of redeeming his people, who have been exiled from Earth for their seriously poor behavior. He and a chosen few will be allowed access to Earth in an attempt to show their “intention to do no harm”. The Maker and angels are watching and measuring his success with a sand-filled hourglass, an hourglass that hasn’t shown movement towards Eric’s goal in centuries. His own people are starting to doubt his ability to redeem the Abbadonites.
Eric and his Liche peoples are immortal so while they are doing their work on Earth, they experience much loss and pain around losing so many of the people they come to know and love. That would truly make immortality somewhat depressing! Just when Eric is feeling that the redemption process is stagnant in walks Tamara. Eric is taken aback by the beauty of her aura and the kindness which emanates from her. The two of them embark on a relationship and an adventure that will take them through danger and across realms.
This is such a fantastically original fantasy tale. I love the juxtaposition of the vulnerability of the humans and the immortality of the Abbadonites. The storyline is a good one and one that rests so much on the shoulder of the main character. Eric Lichner is highly likable and a relatable lead character, despite his inhuman abilities. The relationship between him and Tamara is beautiful!
The writing is wordy but there is a good flow that makes this a smooth read. I very much appreciated the originality of this story. She was able to bring a fantasy storyline into the real world in a way that almost made this book feel less fantasy and more drama and romance. It was nice to be able to enjoy these elements within a fantasy context. Great storytelling and writing. I enjoyed this book!

A great book to be a series starter, this book takes us back to the time when paranormal beings entry on Earth was stopped by God, the creator of all.

Though the book is an interesting mixture of magic & mundane, I wish it had more background information on various species. I came to know the exact meaning of a lich towards the end of the book.

With an very innovative plot, great writing style, and amazing characters this story not only entertains you but also teaches you the value & importance of love, goodness, charity and more.

They have been banished for centuries and he has wanted them to take their place back on earth. He needs to prove they can live together in peace. The sands have hardly moved for such a long time and then he meets her. He must.prevent losing her heart to her. A plot may be undoing what he is trying to do. Will he lose his heart? Will he lose his people? What will be do? See what will happen

I highly recommend this book! It is fantasy, but also a love story. It has a great plot with interesting well developed characters. This is the first book by Christina Winds. I am hoping she completes volume two..I want more.

FYI, the title is a play on "Finding my niche".

Full disclosure, I work with Christina - she is a DBA and single mom. We were all a bit surprised when she showed up at work one morning with copies a of a book she wrote. I am one of the only avid readers at work and felt some trepidation -what if it was not good. Ha, I worried for nothing. Every chapter had me wanting more. She did a good a job of developing the characters, giving just enough back story to make each of the characters interesting. It is an easy read.

I would ask you to give this book a chance - only $4.99 on amazon (Kindle) and is well worth the money! And you would helping a new writer!
