The biggest story of Maggie's career will place her in the crosshairs of an all-out war. Maggie Barnes is at the end of her rope. She’s young and broke living in New York, and her newspaper job has been taken over by robots. When she pisses off a playboy tech billionaire, she's mysteriously offered a position aboard the first civilian space colony. Maggie thinks it’s her lucky break — a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
For Jonah Wyatt, the Space Force is his last shot at a military career. After years of tracking down members of a deadly cyberterrorism ring, he was discharged from the army and stuck working one demeaning job after another. Now this disgraced combat specialist is headed to space.
At first glance, Elderon seems to be a futuristic utopia: Bots do the laundry, meat comes from a lab, and the latest technology expands the scope of human capability. But as Maggie digs deeper, she realizes that Elderon is not at all what it seems. When she receives a tip from an unknown source, she’ll go undercover and learn a truth that could put her life in jeopardy.
If you enjoy blistering action, sassy heroines, and reluctant heroes, you'll love this fast-paced three-book collection.
Tarah Benner is the author of more than 25 books, including Witches of Mountain Shadow, Mountain Shadow Mysteries, The Fringe, the Elderon Chronicles, the Lawless Saga, and more. She lives and writes in sunny Colorado with her two dogs, a cat, a toddler, and her beloved partner in crime. When she’s not writing, she enjoys breakfast, hiking, yoga, and martial arts.
I really enjoyed the series. I cried when I thought they killed one of the main characters. Parts of books definitely kept me guessing. Ready for the next one!
A fast paced three books with a dystopian story of a psychopathic and disgruntled sibling of the person who developed robots. He uses them to control the world.
Despite the pace, the feats of the protagonists become monotonous and unbelievable as they challenge and destroy robots far stronger than they are every time as they sustain life threatening injuries that heal instantly.
Also, no story thread concludes at the end of any book, leaving the reader hanging and wondering. I get that the author wants you to buy the next book, but it's too over done with this series.
The story could be far better with a more believable plot.
Second, only to the Fringe books. The characters are amazing, especially Jonah and complex. Benner knows how to write men. It’s an unusual setting, space, but the story itself is so good it could be set anywhere. I can’t recommend this series enough. Even if you don’t think it’s your style book, give it a try, I promise you’ll love the characters, the storyline, and the environment.
This is so good, and so scary! So many twists and wonderful characters. When I wasn't reading I was thinking about it. The author's notes are as frightening as the story.
