The Witches of Keating Hollow series has been a blast. I’ve been devouring the books off Kindle Unlimited.
I just love the small town of Keating Hollow. It’s a wonderful magical community where everyone knows everyone and what’s going on. Each book in the series brings us a new couple to enjoy as well as new drama and emotional struggles. I just love the light magical feel and the heartfelt romances. This series is full of facing what life throughs at us, healing oneself, finding love and family and friendships.
*****
Hope “Luna” Scott grew up in foster care and has bounced around. Chad Garber is trying to start over after losing everything important to him. These two both have secrets that will turn their lives upside down.
This book is a bit different from previous books in the series (maybe a little darker).. It talks about the treatment on foster kids. We also get several surprises twists and meet a street teen, Levi. Hope & Chad’s romance might be able bloom if the demons from their past don’t destroy what they are building. There are sweet moments and emotional struggles (have tissues on hand). This was another emotional and sweet romance.
This book was slightly different than the other books in the series. I don’t want to say much to spoil it, but this book is more than just the sweet romance we’ve come to expect from the series. In a good way, don’t worry. What this book also contains is the wonderful writing, sweet romance, and intriguing characters we know from this writer. Luna is a wounded woman who needs to find stability and love, and will Chad, a man from her past, fulfill that role, or will the demons from her past come back to take everything away? This has is all: love, redemption, second chances, surprises (what a surprise a couple things were!!), and tears. Love this book; it was a great addition to the series. Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Love of the Witch is the sixth book in the Witches of Keating Hollow series. I recommend reading the series in order as the books build upon each other. Love of the Witch is an expressive novel with surprising twists and arousing interludes. Deanna Chase has an engaging writing style that draws the reader into the story. Hope or Luna as she wishes to be called just wants a new start and to finally put down roots. After her adoptive mother died, she was moved from one foster home to another. The last person Luna expected to encounter is Chad Garber. Chad knew Luna as Hope five years ago and he provided a safe haven from her latest foster home. But then the incident happened, and Luna’s plans went down the drain. Chad has lost his career after injuring his arm and has returned to his hometown. He is surprised to see Luna, but it will provide Chad with a chance to rectify the past. Each have past issues that are bothering them and Levi, a street teen, might be the answer. I do not want to say too much and spoil the story for you. I like how everything tied together into one magical tale. I enjoy the Townsend family with their caring hearts and generous nature. There are sweet moments that will touch your heart in Love of the Witch (have a tissue on hand). Love of the Witch is an emotional novel with unexpected revelations that will affect many lives in Keating Hollow.
This is such an enjoyable series, and this addition does not disappoint. Each visit Keating Hollow feels like visiting with friends. The author does a great job of bringing the reader into the story so it feels as though you are with the characters as the story unfolds. I'm looking forward to reading what happens next.
The sixth installment of the Witches of Keating Hollow deals with hope, courage, love and family. That being said, it was a little dark for me. Too much emphasis put on treatment of foster kids in "the system". I prefer a little more humor and more "witchiness" in my reading.
Deanna Chase returns to Keating Hollow in Love of the Witch. Hope “Luna” Scott recently started working for Faith Townsend at her spa, and she’s excited to be starting a new life (with a new name) in Keating Hollow. Luna’s old life included a bad foster home situation and a stint in juvie, and she’s determined to keep her past a secret. But when she runs into Chad Garber at a party, Luna realizes that she can’t outrun her past. Chad knew Luna (or Hope as he remembers her) when her life was at its worst, and he was the only person who had ever been there for her since her adoptive mother died. Luna tries to keep her distance from Chad at first, but she can’t resist the pull she feels towards the one man she could always count on. And Chad finds that he can’t stop looking at Luna in a new light. While Luna always had a crush on Chad when she was a teenager, Chad only saw a young girl in a desperate situation who needed his help. Now he realizes Luna’s all grown up, and she fascinates him. But reconnecting with Chad isn’t the only surprise that Luna is in for. A chance meeting brings an endangered teen named Levi into Luna’s life, and soon she finds herself fighting to save Levi from his abusive uncle. Then she receives a card from her biological mother requesting a meeting, and when she meets her mother, Luna gets the shock of her life. Suddenly, she realizes that if everything works out with Levi’s custody, if she and Chad can make a relationship work, and if her newfound family accepts her, she could finally have what she has always dreamed about— a real family of her own.
Ms. Chase has written another great installment in the Witches of Keating Hollow series. In fact, this book may be my favorite in the series. I loved the relationship between Luna and Chad. They both come from damaged backgrounds but are finding ways to move beyond their pasts. I find it inspiring to read about characters that aren’t letting their futures be defined by their pasts. I also enjoyed that when Luna got angry at Chad over some of the things he did to help her she recognized that her anger was largely the result of hurt pride. I hate when romance novels keep characters apart with silly misunderstandings and misplaced anger. I thought Ms. Chase did a great job throwing obstacles in Chad and Luna’s way without resorting to those types of situations. Finally, I really thought it was important that Chad made it clear that he hadn’t had feelings for Luna in the past. Given their age difference, Chad would have come off more than a little creepy if he’d been lusting after 17-year-old Luna.
While the romance between Chad and Luna is very engaging and enjoyable, I actually found the Luna-Levi relationship and the Chad-Levi relationship to be even more fascinating. A romance is naturally expected in a romance novel, but the addition of Levi gives this book more depth. And I thought Ms. Chase developed his character very realistically. She conveyed his trust issues very well, and I thought she balanced Levi’s desire for affection with his fear that the situation was just too good to last beautifully. My only criticism of this plot point is that I thought Luna should have been a few years older. The characters never addressed the fact that Luna is only 20 years old and that probably would have hurt her case for custody.
Love of the Witch is an enjoyable read with likable characters and enough twists to keep the story moving very fast. I imagine some readers will feel that the twists tie everything together just a little too perfectly, but isn’t that why readers enjoy a good romance novel? To get the perfect happily-ever-after ending. I highly recommend this book
Again, Deanna Chase, as hit a home run with the Keating Hollow series. I am amazed that every book in the series has been the best one yet in my honest opinion! The author has out done herself with each book and every time I have read the next book in the series I think "Wow this has to be her best one yet" but the next book comes out and I say this is the best one... Well this is the best one... Hope "Luna" Scott wants a new lease on life...shuffled from foster home to foster home most of her life...she wants to put down roots. Her last foster home was the absolute worse one...her foster mom was selling illegal potions and had Hope running for her. But Hope gets caught and spends 3 years in juvenile detention. When she gets out she moves to Keating Hollow and works as a massage therapist with Faith Townsend being her boss...things are starting to look up for Hope, who changed her name to Luna, trying to get a fresh start... Enter Chad...Hope/Luna hasn't seen him in 3 years and they become friends again. Life starts to pick up and Hope is thinking that just maybe she can put her past behind her...but can she? Can she forget what happened to her and start living her life in Keating Hollow? So much happens in this book that I just couldn't put it down...I had to keep reading. I had tears in my eyes and I was rooting for Hope to find the life that she wanted so badly... Did Hope/Luna find happiness? Or does her past come back to haunt her... You have to read the book to find out...I highly recommend the series "Witches of Keating Hollow" and again if the town was real I would be moving there so fast it would make your head spin! I'm not one to fuss about covers but the covers for each of the 6 books in this series are amazing! You know the old saying Never judge a book by it's cover...well the books are just as wonderful as the covers! Highly recommend
As with all books in this series, there’s a sense that you’re watching a Witchy Hallmark channel. This book turns a little dark again as Chase tackles some difficult topics: injustice in the foster care system, and homosexuality. As someone who was adopted at birth, when she started talking about birth parents, and choosing your family when you don’t have quality family to choose from, it hit home on some strong emotions.
The characters weren’t my favorite in the series, but they weren’t unlikeable. Until chapter what, 3?, Luna was sooo mousey that I wasn’t sure how well the book would go if she would continue to be so timid, shy, and afraid of darn near everything. It was so different from how she ended up being. Thankfully we have a couple that starts talking through issues from the beginning! The book was a little predictable, but when Chase threw the curveball, son of a witch was it a doozie! And they just kept coming! These are only a few of the books I’ve read where I physically gasp when there’s a twist, and that’s saying something. There were a few times during the story where Chase would set a scene, and start to explain something, and the scene would change to something else so it didn’t seem as fluid as it should have been. The characters would kind of accept what was said without questioning further and as a reader, I sat back and said HUH? Until a few chapters down the road, it would be finally explained.
In all, this was still a gut-wrenching, chalk full of happiness, exceptional paranormal romance book by Chase, and I can’t wait to read the next one!
Hope Scott had a rough past going from foster home to foster home. All she wanted now was a chance for a new start, and maybe one day, a family of her own she could love. She changed her name to Luna and moved to Keating Hollow where she worked massage therapist at “A Touch of Magic”, Keating Hollow’s luxury day spa.
When Chad Garber, the man Luna knew as a teenager and who was the only person she could always trust and depend on, showed up in town, his arrival threatens to expose her secrets. She had cared for Chad when she was a teenager, but he was 10 years older than she and her teenage heartbreak was inevitable. What will she do now? Will he hurt her again? Will he bring up her past? Or will he see her in a new light, an adult now and someone he could love?
I can’t say enough good things about this incredible book! The love, caring, and friendship the characters have for each other just pulls everyone in and makes the reader care about the wonderful people the author brings to life. The addition of a couple of other surprise characters will add a new dimension to the story as they bring more changes to Luna’s life. The story line is amazing, with communication once again being a key component to sorting things out! You won’t want to miss this Keating Hollow story! One again, it will touch the reader’s heart!
Luna was finally getting the life she wanted. She had a good job with a boss she liked in a town she could settle in for life. If only she could keep her secret. Things were going great until she saw Chad. What was a world-famous musician doing here? The man she'd had a crush on for years even when she was way too young. She isn't too young anymore.
Chad couldn't believe Hope/Luna was here in this town. She'd grown into a beautiful woman and his feelings were no longer just to help a kid who'd been run over by the foster system of some disgusting people.
When they started to see where or if they could take their feelings anywhere a young teen in a similar situation as she'd been in needed help. It wasn't easy to gain his trust. Trying to settle into their professional lives, find time for each other, help the kid, and avoid her past made for a busy time. Could they possibly find a life together and help a deserving kid?
This is another consuming story in Keating Hollow and the witches who make up the town. Finding how the Townsend family fits into her life with one sister as her boss and others running businesses in town fill all the character needs any reader has as well as a story with unexpected twists. Loyalty and love fill the hearts of the people in this town making for one of those satisfied smiles after reading THE END.
Luna has got a job at a Spa in Keating Hollow to help her start over. She needs help moving her things from her apartment in Eureka to the house she is renting. Chad was a professional pianist who is opening a music store in Keating Hollow where his Stepmom lives. He sees Luna, who he knows a Hope, and can’t believe they are in the same town. He helped Hope when she was younger, but she has grown up now. While helping her move they meet Levi a kid who needs help. They feed him and he helps Chad pack up Luna things, when they are through Chad has slipped a note to Levi if he needs help call. The story then goes forward. This is a very good, short and fast read. This is book 6 but can be read as a stand alone. I liked Luna/Hope she is a strong and resilient woman who has been through a lot in her life. She still has hope and love to offer. Chad is a good strong character, he helps Luna and genuinely wants to do good things. Levi is a great secondary character. He is a teenager trying to escape his terrible situation. He is cautious about Chad and Luna because of his situation. I would definitely read more books by this author and the series.
Series: Yes. It states standalone in a series however when reading the story a few references were made to past experiences that made me feel like I needed more info.
Summary: More or less this is a second-chance romance involving Hope aka Luna and Chad.
Analysis: I have a few issues with this story. First, their age difference is brought up often by both characters, but they both say different age spans, it is either 3 years or 10 years. Second, Hope loves Chad and knows he's a good person. However, as soon as he confesses something from the past she starts accusing him of intentionally hurting her. I just didn't understand her reaction. Lastly, while reading this book I felt like I wasn't sure if the witches were living in secret or out in the open but as I read more it became clear they were living openly. I feel that it should've been addressed early on and not left to be figured out chapters in.
Hope, who now goes by Luna, moves to Keating Hollow to work as a massage therapist at Faith Townsend’s spa. She runs into Chad at the brewery. He was a good friend to her when she was younger and she eventually fell in love with him even though he never knew it. Chad moved to Keating Hollow after he broke his hand and he could no longer play the piano. They both lived in abusive homes even though she did not know that Chad was going through the same issues that she was. He was her safe haven. Chad and Luna stumble across Levi when Chad was helping Luna move from Eureka to Keating Hollow. Levi had an abusive home life too. Chad and Luna take him in and try to provide a better environment for him. There were some big reveals and surprising twists in this book. This book is a little darker since it deals with the abuse that can occur in foster homes, but there are still many witchy elements in the story. This story still revolves around the Townsend girls and their connection to Luna. There is drama, intrigue, romance. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Audio book review Book 6 in the series. I love every single story that Deanna Chase wrote . She speaks to the heart . Each story talks about love and life. This story is fantastic Heroine is Luna/ Her real name is Hope . Hero is Chad Luna is making a life a new one for herself at Keating Hollow . She changed her name from Hope to Luna. She really had a hard life , growing up in foster care , Luna only had one wish to have her own family. She knows that will bring her love and joy. She only knows of one man that she wants that family with and that’s Chad . Chad doesn’t see her that way at the time . They both meet up again at Keating Hollow. Luna doesn’t feel comfortable with Chad , she’s afraid that people will find out about her. Chad wants to help her move and his mind is slowly seeing her in a way that he thinks there might be a future for both of them . Grab it and see will Chad convince Luna hes feeling are for real
Gabra Zackman performance is great. Her voice is smooth and she draws you into the story
I was wondering where this story would take me but wow, I have to say I was totally surprised with the emotional roller coaster Love of the Witch took me on but it was a very pleasant surprise.
Hope/Luna has a past but then who doesn't...lol as it turns out her past was so much more than even she knew and even though shit happened, in the end, it brought Hope/Luna to Keating Hollow, reunited her with Chad the guy she had a crush on years ago and brought so much magic into her life it will never be the same again in so many good ways.
The story was just fantastically sweet, I cried, I laughed, I got angry and I cried some more... Hope proves you really can turn your life around and unexpected things are not always bad... The twist and turns in this story just brought it all together beautifully I enjoyed it a lot probably the most out of the 6 books in this series so far.
Keating Hollow an home village full of witches who everyone knows every one business and everyone protects everyone.
Luna Scott moved here for a fresh start. Her birth mom had named her hope then Dumped her into the system. Were life sucked. So she changed her name, new job plus she works with a well known healer saving people's lives. Then someone from her past showed up. Chad Garber ex famous piano player. He has come home to Keating Hollow. Then there is a young boy needing help. Let's not forget bad guys I love to hate on the bad guys! Wow what a story so many twists and turns it's amazing. I loved everyone of them! Plus there is action, drama, mystery, and more . I couldn't put it down and didn't want to. I didn't want it to be over! Lol don't miss it. The woman that read this in audible is fantastic and really adds to this story. Voluntarily review a copy and I honestly loved it
Luna Scott is a powerful earth witch, using her power in her work with Healer Snow and as a massage therapist at A Touch of Magic. Luna doesn’t have any family. Lost in the system after her adoptive mother passed away, all Luna wanted to do was go to college and escape her horrible foster home. Luna’s found friends and people she cared about in Keating Hollow, but when her past comes rushing back in the eyes of Chad Garber, will she run yet again?
Chad Garber, an accomplished pianist, moved to Keating Hollow to open up a music store. Hoping to continue his love for music by teaching music. His music career abruptly ended with a confrontation from his past. When he sees Hope, he can’t believe it’s really her. Hope “Luna” Scott was a girl from his past he lost everything to protect.
Will both Luna and Chad make peace with the last in order to move forward with their futures?
Loved, loved, loved this story. Highly recommend getting lost in the magical town of Keating Hollow.
I've read this whole series so far, and have absolutely loved each and every book, however, this one is by far my favorite. Luna went through a lot as a child in the foster care system and the one thing she always wanted as a child was a family. Oh, a family and Chad, the man who she knew as a teenager who was the only person she could ever depend on, who was also ten years her senior. Who knew that moving to Keating Hollow would make all of her dreams come true? While it isn't an easy road, and her past comes back to haunt her, the ending is all she could ask for, and more. I suggest having tissues while reading this book! I cried both sad and happy tears, as I have with each and every one of the Witches of Keating Hollow books. And I wouldn't change a second of it. This is the best book so far of an excellent series!!
This is the first book I have read from Deanna Chase and it was enjoyable and interesting. Hope had a very difficult life in the foster children system and she learned how to be tough to protect herself but she was able to stay sweet and caring. Hope had no one, absolutely no family which she very much longed to have. Chad had been in her life before she turned 18 and he cared for her and helped her wherever he could. As Hope tried to start out fresh with her life in a new town and a change of her name to Luna, hoping this new town would never learn of her very difficult teen years and ending up in juvy until she turned 18. I enjoyed this story and this lovely young woman, Luna, who just wanted to be accepted and given a fair chance of a better life she could build for herself.
Oh, I loved this! We met Luna in Courage of the Witch and in this book we get to learn all about her.
Luna reconnects with Chad, a friend from her past, who is hoping to open a business in town. Chad knew her as 'Hope' back then, before she changed her name, to move on from her past. She's always liked Chad, but now it seems the feelings are mutual.
They meet a homeless teen, Levi, who has gone through some horrible things in his life, and try to help him and keep him safe.
As the story unravels, there are some surprising twists and some heartwrenching moments, but also some really sweet parts.
This is my favourite book in this series (so far)! I'm excited to read the next one, it sounds fun!
I'm a huge fan of this series, and this book did NOT disappoint! I was cheering Luna/Hope on every step of the way ! She was dealt a truly hard hand in life, yet it didn't stop her huge heart from reaching out to help a young man in need of love and home. I had a niggling feeling throughout the book, and was thrilled muy suspicions proved correct 😊😊😊. Suffice to say there are a few wondrous surprises... And a few horrific ones. Yet every step of this book is worth the witch read. I only wish Keating Hollow was a real town 😉💖. The overwhelming throughline in this book is FAMILY. Whether by blood of but choice, family matters. I am really looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series! Deanna Chase never disappoints!
This book was dark and unlike the other books in her series. Most of them read like a Hallmark channel and have the HE a factor.I do recommend reading the series in order. In general, I enjoy her writing. This series has a very nice town environment. There are good people in it. The The characters are pleasant, and enjoyable to read about. That being said, not all people that end up in the system live horrible lives. Some come from horrible situations and find a home where they are treated decently. Having grown up in a home where my parents took and six foster kids at a time, I can tell you those kids were much better off and they left when they came in. I read these type of novels to lose myself in a story. This one was very disturbing. It’s worth reading as long as you don’t dwell too much on the foster system.
While I've been reading books by this author for years, I have to say it seems that she just gets better and better with each novel. This one doesn't disappoint for one single word. Luna, the new "witch" in town has years of pain and disappointment following her but all she wants out of life is a fresh start and a family of her own. Too bad Chad has also found his way to Keating Hollow. Chad is her biggest heartbreak, though he doesn't even realize it. As a man 10 years her senior, he was just trying to help the teen foster kid in the neighborhood. Now that they are both adults, he sees Luna in a different light. All the feels are in this one and it's a wonderful reading experience.
Just when I think I've found my favorite Keating Hollow story, another takes its place! This great, heartwarming story is about Luna Scott, the massage therapist that Faith hired to work in her spa. In the prior story, the readers meet Luna. Faith had a reservation about Luna, but could not figure out why. Still she hired her because everyone loved her. In Love of the Witch, the reader will learn that which haunts Luna.
I found myself cheering for all of them - Luna, Chad and the runaway Levi. Each character had deep secrets, and thank goodness each has a happy ending. However it took a roller coaster ride to get there! and a bunch of tissues.
The sixth installment of the series of Keating Hollows for me while it was sweet and had a dash of romance I felt like it was a bit serious and bittersweet. No spoilers, but know that it is such a great read. I may have cried a few times. My heart ached for what Luna experienced at a younger age as well as ache for another character we get to meet in this book. I listened to the audiobook, and I highly recommend it. Gabra does a great job and literally she gutted me (in a good way) in this particular book. Bravo!!
This book is the sixth in the series of Witches of Keating Hollow, and as much as I have truly enjoyed them all, this one ties with the first one for my favorite. Love of the Witch is absolutely about new beginnings, new love, new chances and yes, new magic. Wonderfully written with a steady paced flow, the emotions definitely conquered my tear ducts and a few times I envisioned myself flicking some mischief magic of my own. Thank you again, Deanna Chase for this wonderful book.
Hope/Luna is trying to create a new life in Keating Hollow and runs into an old friend Chad. Hope is afraid Chad will tell everyone about her past and she will be an outcast. Chad is grateful to see Hope/Luna again. Chad realizes that Hope has changed since he last saw her. These two try to date, but something always happens to end the date early. When Levi enters their lives they realize that they need to help Levi. There is so much happening and you can't wait to see what happens. Loved this book and this series! Will definitely be reading more by Deanna Chase!!
Great book with interesting plot twists. I loved it and can't wait to read the next one!
