From the writer of the Edge and Steele books. This is considered a lesser series but the first book equals the Edge books and is better than the Steele books Ive read. Barnaby Gold is a reluctant undertaker with his father in a small town. When his father dies and he plans on leaving, an event happens to where he feels entitled to gun a guy down. It puts him on the run, sort of, but Gold is a very odd, cold invidual. He rather make a big trail and let the ones who would be after him come after him whether he dies or kills. Doesnt seem to matter much to him either way.
Highly recommended, can be a bit cluncky in the narrative since it uses flashbacks more than necessary, but small complaint. Really enjoyed the Gold character and the tale is a great opening book to a series, looking forward to reading the others.
