A very fun and silly light-hearted read. At first I thought I was going to hate it because gaming is my least favourite genre. Our two university boys Ling Meng and Man Guoding love gaming and they fall for each other. This story focuses more on the streamer side of gaming and our main characters aren’t directly involved in esports, they don’t play for a team competitively.

I found that the fictional game Galaxy Legends was engaging and interesting to read, maybe because it was a game type I’m not too familiar with. I also feel the author incorporates the game and the chat of the viewers as main characters themselves.

I do wish there were more emotional and serious parts, especially when it comes to their love. It does feel like they never really get much alone time because during some personal moments they decide to livestream. I feel it would have been better to enjoy the moment without the viewer commentary since it felt like I had someone reading along with me. Ling Meng is also a bit clueless and takes things very lightheartedly, it does almost feel like he got with Man Guoding for the sake of it. After all, Ling Meng really only cares for food and gaming.

“You kinda smell good too”
“Really?”
“Yeah.” Ling Meng drawled. “You smell like meat dumplings.”

It’s such a silly story, you can’t really take it seriously when most of the characters are named after fruit (both in-game names and their actual names). Ling Meng → Lemon, Ba Nana → Banana, Man Daren → Mandarin 😂 Everyone is such a ball of sunshine and even the side characters were fun to read about. I wish we got an extra on Ba Nana with his POV and what he does in a day.

I definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for some fluffy cuteness because there is no angst at all and that is maintained throughout the whole novel. I guess it has a similar setting to Limerence - two uni boys who are into games, but the tone is different with Limerence focusing on more drama. They don’t really use much gamer terminology so it’s pretty easy to get into, even if you’re not familiar with gaming.

Also a small detail I like that the translators have done is that when it comes to text messages or viewer chat on livestreams, things aren’t capitalised or punctuated - something most people do without realising.

Some fun and cute moments:

Me ha gustado mucho!!!
Aunque el final me pareció muy abrupto... Necesitaba más?
Super rápido de leer y muy divertido xD.
Obvio no es la mejor novela, pero le di mis 4 estrellitas porque me mantuvo enganchadisima.
Probablemente si la vuelvo a leer, le quitaría una estrellita... Pero al día de hoy, pues así queda xD

I am a suckerr for anything gaming so it was no doubt I would pick up this Danmei read!

This is a lighthearted and UBER fluffy read of a slice of life story of two gamer livestreamers (Think twitch) who randomly got matched in a game, duel with one of them losing and got obsessed with beating the other and found that they go to the same university and slowly fall in love with one another and encourage each other to pursue their passion and ambitions. Practically no angst and relatively drama-free with mega fluff all the way through.

The MC is hilarious and adorable and also known to be an arrogant player and he loves to troll the other players with one-liners after winning his duel until he comes into contact with the ML, who beated him and he spammed “You’re Too Op” which indirectly show up in the ML’s live streaming feed leading to him getting mocked for it which got him to be obsessed with beating the ML - hehehehe! The gaming parts were easy to follow and pretty straightforward and there was a great balance to this and the real life world. The supporting characters introduced were a great addition and added to the story.

Also, all the characters are all named fruits and veggies for some reason making this such a fun puns!

I would have given it more stars if I didn’t read “I Can Do It” before and couldn’t help but compare reads..

This is a book centered on two protagonists who are both gamers and streamers/anchors. We have Ling Meng who is just a casual gamer but is known in the game for leaving boastful/hospice comments after a game.

One day he was matched with Shan Zhu, a well know god tier player and lost poorly. Instead of leaving his usual commentary, out of shamelessness/spite, he left the commment "You boys play games very well". This became viral and the start of their legend on the Legend of the Galaxy game and fandom.

This was a very cute and funny story. It was a feel good story with a balanced elements in gaming, streaming and love. I love the concept of live commentary and streaming on a story. The comments of the viewers are funny.😂

Recommended for lazy reads.👍❤

The last book I started in 2024 and the first book I finished in 2025. This feels like a "dark horse" read in the sense that I didn't expect much from it, but it ended up being an enjoyable treat.

I can't help but compare this to Limerence which I read last year but didn't enjoy as much. While Pei Ran and Yan Zhun failed to charm me as a couple and I finished that book without feeling any connection to them at all, Ling Meng and Man Guoding here are full of personality. Even the side characters in this book - like Guava, and Mandarin - feel more vibrant. The interactions between not just our main couple but also between the other characters are what make this one a much better reading experience.

I like how Galaxy Legends is such a prominent part of the story, to the point where I had moments wherein I wanted to play the game as well. Galaxy Legends feels like a third main character in the book and is actually an important part in how our couple's relationship develops. I still can't help but compare it to Limerence, where PUBG felt almost like an afterthought. Kat-Fu, the fictional streaming platform, is also very cute! The presents that the viewers give to Ling Meng and Man Guoding are so cute, like the kibble and the cat yards.

While the writing isn't particularly revolutionary, and while there isn't much plot outside of the streaming shenanigans, the banter between Ling Meng, Man Guoding, and their viewers is the star of the show. The humor doesn't feel exaggerated or forced, and I did laugh out loud during a few moments. There's really zero angst in this book, making it a perfect palate cleanser and a pretty nice way to start the year.

Now if only Guava can get a sequel...

This was a soft, sweet gamer romance with two lovable leads whose connection is as fluffy as can be. Their romance progresses naturally and is filled with humor, encouragement, and joy. Because this is so focused on the streaming aspect, the fans and viewers within the story become their own character too. Their commentary, the "shipping", and the online jokes are hilarious and so realistic for its setting. This just put a huge smile on my face, and I highly recommend it for someone looking for a light read.

I love entertainment danmei, while this is esport danmei, it’s giving similar vibes considering the MC & ML are live streamer. It’s giving perspective of other profession or persona in gaming industry like commentator and host/interviewer. Fluff and super hilarious, I finished reading within 4 days within my packed schedule. Highly recommended for lite reading or if you need something fluff after an angsty read.

It's sweet, fluffy, and cute. Keep in mind that it's about two streamers, so 99% of the book takes place while they're streaming. If you're in the mood for something intense, I wouldn't recommend this.

never would i think i was so fortunate to live in singapore where danmei can also be licensed into volumes like this. i need to say the cover art of Lemon and Mangod are too cute. the pink aesthetic and the butler outfits from the mango pudding and lemonade stalls are adorable, along with the receipt at the back.

on to the actual story. i have a soft spot for gaming and streaming danmeis it seems. this one isn't tok angsty and is a lighthearted read to end the year on, and it was just a boatload of fluff. Ling Meng and Man Guoding are just too cute, that is all i can say. i mean don't we love the snarky streamer and the nice falls-first super gamer trope (looking at you Soft and Road). i love how it was never queerbaiting for Mangod and Lemon in denial is always funny to read. everyone ships them, be it as Lemon and Mangod or his side account Apple.

i loved the teams that appeared as well, Team Fruits is always entertaining. (i love how everyone's real names sounds like their fruit id too) Ba Nana is such an intriguing character. yes he's tropey and stoic and rich as the top player in the team but i do find that the depth in his character, being straightforward in letting others know if they're good or not at the game (rip in Lemon being the only one he didn't try to recruit to play but as a mascot) and his unwillingness to go to uni (though he did at the end). his feelings for Lemon are always hinted at but never touched on, which is a bit of a shame but i loved the ending of him going to school with them at the end.

author alsp did a good job of explaining the game mechanics of Galaxy Legends without making it too technical or boring. it wasn't LoL in I Can Do It (this one has my whole entire heart) but still engaging.

guys i am back in my danmei era going into 2025. bet.

This was SO MUCH fun. No, it isn't very deep or anything, but it still gets 5 stars, because i was SO entertained. Also no whiny uke, which is a big plus, and also no stupid drama or misunderstanding, it was just a fun esport gaming gay streamer thing. Also the comments of the viewers were so on point *snicker* i felt called out so many times, because ofc the viewers were shipping lemon and mango too - and other streamers hehe.
And it scratched that very niche itch of shipping youtubers/streamers with each other, which I know i had, but i didn't know there were books for it. And this one delivered.
Also the translation from chinese was so good - the translator did such a good work, to translate things into understanding english nerd terms, that everyone could understand.

Really, if you just want a silly, funny, non-drama, gay streamer couple story with fujoshis comments, then this is for you.

While the level of personal life that the two allowed into their streams did put me slightly on edge, it was actually a very cute story! The chemistry between the two was there before they met in person, and there was no forced drama just two dudes gaming and flirting.

This was short and sweet. Ling Meng (MC) and Shan Zhu (ML) were so cute and the way their relationship progressed was pretty straightforward because there was no unnecessary drama or misunderstandings. This was just a story of two people finding love from a chance encounter in an online game. I really enjoyed being fed dog food by them and have no complaints about that at all 😂 the smut scenes were described vaguely though and that was honestly kind of funny for me to read.

Kinda wished that the side characters were more developed because I found them quite funny and entertaining, but the author chose to primarily focus on the main couple which was kind of a shame because I think the side characters could've added so much more to the story.

This is a tricky one - parts were super adorable while other parts nearly bored me to tears. I won't beat around the bush; my mind would always threaten to zone out whenever it focused on the actual gaming. Obviously, I would expect gaming in a novel about gaming and I do enjoy these settings. This was my first time reading a novel, my previous exerpiences are all either on screen, in comic form or my own gaming experiences. Nevertheless, I don't think it was due to the novel format - it was probably just the long drawn out sequences and the fact that the game they were playing was very different from any game I'd personally be interested in [scifi space war game from what I gathered].

Anyhow, while I found the actual game sequences too long and just couldn't click with it, I did really enjoy the main characters. I love a quirky and upbeat character like Ling Meng who is also ridiculously oblivious when someone shows interest in him romantically. Man Guoding's advances were so obvious to both reader and other characters, it was pretty fun seeing Ling Meng being so dense about it. The way their interactions developped was super cute and just wholesome - there was little to no drama and even other potential love interests never really posed a threat.

As someone who loves romance stories with hidden identities, I was almost disappointed that Ling Meng and Man Guoding found eachother in real life so early on, but then there was still the fun element of the other online players and viewers not being in the know. The supporting cast is fun and there were some laugh out loud moments.

Everyone being collectively nicknamed or named after a fruit/vegetable is just iconic, Whatever the author was on when she wrote this I want more of itᐛ ), this is pure mood Lmao.
This is just pure comedy Omds, you want to have a good laugh? read this. you want something you could read in a day and funny? just fucking read this oml.
The gaming part went from being serious to just being funny! like bruh, I thought we were talking about gaming but when did it turn to pure comedy [哈哈哈哈哈哈哈哈哈哈哈哈].
I read this cause of the gaming, my love for [e-sport/gaming] Danmei is high rn, but I was just opening my mouth and laughing like a goddamn hyena *QAQ*.

I wasn't a fan of how their love developed, cause if you look at it closely it just felt like Shan Zhu one-sided love, idk, and he was just pulling Ling Meng in uh.
But later I just realized that not every relationship needed to flaunt how they started dating, and also knowing they had a good laugh and chemistry even before Shan Zhu kissed him, I love their relationship sm.
At the end of the day we could even say Ling Meng was the one more in love, it's just that it was silently, I guess he's not that good at expressing it, but I could see it,Ling Meng loves Shan Zhu so fucking much, and later we knew they both love each other literally🪷cute🪷
I can just say that every character interaction was spectacular and funny, lol, I enjoyed every character, ya'k there are some books that some side characters makes you wanna skip some certain chapters, no, I liked this, I wanted even more of every other characters, and talking of barrage lmao, they make my day!.
This was a spectacular book.

2nd read:
I realize now how much the "'straight' guy turns gay after meeting someone" trope makes me want to commit something not very family friendly. But at least this book doesn't fkin dramatize that shit and moves on pretty quickly (not saying it's necessarily a bad trope, but that type of trope is usually used in books where they DON'T FUCKING FIT).

Still 5/5, just some odd quirks that are kinda of yikes in my very "western" POV. But imo to enjoy most chinese webnovels, you usually have to accept them LMAO.

Anyway. Again. Still a favorite of mine, even if it sounds like I'm complaining a lot hahaha.

1st Read (original review):
A solid 5/5

Honestly.
I'm not ashamed to say that I straight up willingly sacrificed my sleep for this. It's a solid fluff novel. Great for when you're still reeling from a rollercoaster of another fucking chinese novel.

All I'm saying is. If you're looking for a plot and drama-heavy book, this ain't for you.

I loved this read a lot!! It’s very much a feel good story with minimal drama and low angst, and it's a quick read at only one volume. It follows the enemies-to-rivals-to-friends-to-lovers relationship between two university students who are both popular gamers.

I liked both of the mcs a lot <3 and their dynamic and banter was really fun from start to finish! A lot of the story follows them when they’re live streaming, and I feel like their fans/regular viewers and commenters were a character of their own too. The live chats are SO funny through the whole story, and as it goes, it feels like you’re in on all the inside jokes with the other commenters >u< I laughed SO MUCH while reading!!

I was surprised because I didn’t realize it was rated mature, but there were a couple scenes with light spice, so that was a treat! I also really liked the pacing of the development of the mcs’ relationship, it felt really satisfying to watch them grow closer to each other!

**DNF 26% in**

It was a very light read. Mostly about the game which I don’t mind, I have already read some e-sports books but this one is just too plain. Maybe it’s the translation? I have ordered a paperback copy of it hopefully it’s a translation problem and not a plot.

I didn’t finish this, I’ll remove the read date so it will not count in my reading challenge.

As a lover of BL about esports/streaming and a fan of characters that communicate openly this was a super fun read! Love BL that doesn't make being gay out to be this huge trial the characters have to overcome, they just fall in love.

Also realized about 3/4ths of the way through this that Ling Meng is essentially Jerma: guy who's effortlessly memed on, fans love to make fun of him, decent at games but bad enough that people will mercilessly tear into him, AND he's just a little guy.

I'll pretty much read anything I come across that has gaming elements, so as soon as I saw this novel, I was excited to give it a try. It's a very lighthearted story about two livestreaming anchors with very little drama and a LOT of live streaming comments.

It follows our MC, Ling Neng (nicknamed Lemon in the game), who has a poisonous mouth and pretty disses everyone he plays against after the match. One day, he loses terribly to a well known god-tier player called Mangosteen and becomes obsessed with beating him, and thus begins the story. It turns out Mangosteen is also a fellow student at Ling Neng's college, a 4th year called Shang Zhu, which makes recognizing each other IRL much easier.

As I mentioned, the story is very light and there's no pressure of training and winning the championships because our boys are just anchors who livestream the game. In fact, a lot of the MC's streaming doesn't have anything to do with playing the game, as he sometimes streams himself doing other things like singing, eating dinner out, etc. There are some side characters who are pro players, and it cracks me up that the author named everyone after fruits and vegetables, and the top two pro teams are literally called FRUIT and VEGE XP

A lot of the story involves either the MC or ML livestreaming and interacting with their viewers' comments. A huge shoutout to the translator for their work on all the comments, since I can tell a lot of internet slang terms are being used due to all the translator notes. I don't mind the live commentary to a certain extent, but it was just so prevalent in this story that it got a bit too much for me.

The name of the book comes from one of Lemon's iconic hospice care lines from the first chapter after losing horribly to the ML:

[Empire] Lemon: You boys play games very well~

And I just love how his fans and the ML will never let him live it down and it keeps coming up in various forms throughout the story:

[Empire] Mangosteen: We boys play games so fiercely.

Overall this was a cute story, but after reading this I've concluded that I prefer e-sports stories involving professional players more. There's more tension in those stories as there are tournaments and usually some kind of international championship involved.
