This was surprisingly bad. I listened to all six episodes on BBC Radio 4 Extra in 2021. It felt like it had either been written and recorded in the 1970s or 1980s or was a pastiche. Something like the BBC Radio series/season 2 of Space Force by Charles Chilton, from 1985, is head and shoulders above this.
The "big" reveal in the final episode is an "is that it?" moment. It's not surprising that it wasn't hinted at in the earlier episodes; if it had been, why would anyone have stuck with this to the very end? There's very little character development and simply very little story of any consequence.
And oh the irritating characters and the ridiculously forced and comical "love story" between the "hero" and the female scientist.
Perhaps this was meant as a joke, but if it was then it is a really bad one.
