Are you longing for adventure? Mischief? What about sandwiches?
Tag along with one sneaky ninja who is happy to share his busy day (but not his lunch) with curious kids everywhere in this rhyming picture book perfect for fans of The Three Ninja Pigs and 10 Little Ninjas. Written by bestselling author Nate “N.D.” Wilson and gorgeously illustrated by newcomer Forrest Dickison.
Ninjas just want to have fun! It is truly amazing to me how ninja have become so interwoven into pop culture: if you could talk to a real ninja they would probably be shocked that so many people knew about them (remember that they were very secretive about their existence). A fun book that will be a good ninja starting point!
My husband studied budo taijutsu for twenty years, so I'm always on the lookout for clever picture books about Japanese martial arts. This one has a lot of compelling action, adventure, rhyme, and alliteration, following the young ninja's activities throughout the day and even into bedtime - ninjas, after all, "ninja hard all day" and "need to sleep before they play." Cute, with fun illustrations.
Fun book. Really nice illustrations. I like the last page that shows what real-life items contributed to the ninja boy's imagination. Kate has read this to her sisters several times. Blah Blah Black Sheep is also fun.
With vivid greenery, an ocean of blue, fluffy white blizzards, and fancy castles with crowned cats, Ninjas are busy hopping, chopping, dancing, prancing, dodging, and spinning. But all good things must come to an end when Ninjas need a good night of sleep. The artwork in this book was created with photoshop.

My 1.5 yr/o son seems to like it - this is the second night he has asked to read it. It is cute and whimsical, and nice to see words like dance and prance in a book whose audience is more likely boys. I try to make the story a little engaging by using chopping motions with my hands or snipping at his hair with my fingers - and that is, honestly, why I think he has gone back to it.
---- Update 1/12/17: This has really grown on me and my son has to have it read every night. He touches his hair and his toes when the ninja cuts the cat's wig and balances on his feet. For me, I loved noticing the little details in the pictures - how certain things in the ninja's fantasy world are actually toys or drawings in his bedroom. Very cute adventure that toddlers are sure to love.
My just-turned-two year old niece absolutely loves this book. She can finish the last word of each sentence when her mom reads it to her. Because of this story, she'll randomly say "belly flop" throughout the day. It's the cutest thing.
I’m really loving all these books we’ve been reading lately. I have always been fascinated by ninjas and love to impose my own ideas and preferences upon my children at any given opportunity. This is just a fun book in which a kid views his world as if he is a ninja and why not?
My son loves this book, my daughter recites it like a poem with ninja actions included. Definitely a great board book for young kids! Also, great artwork!
A fun book, better than most picture books for this age group! The rhymes are whimsical and cute and I love how the story winds down at the end, perfect for bedtime. My five year-old bro loved this story so much and had it memorized after only being read aloud to him twice. I got him the sequel as well and he's been begging for more!
Read this book to my daughter almost daily if not every other day and she LOVES IT. she's only 8 months old but she loves the pictures (the ninja standing on his toes every time a blizzard blows) she laughs and hits the page. Also loves turning the pages. Great read and flows smoothly. Ordering Blah Blah Black Sheep for her.
Hello Ninja has been a big hit with any child I have given it to. I myself enjoy the playfulness and detailed illustrations. This new expanded version of the classic does not disappoint. The only thing I missed from the original was the clever name of the cat. Pretzel doesn’t have the same sas.
My friend gave my son this book for his baby shower and it was better than most of the books I received. It is suitable for babies because of the rhyming but older kids would like it too. It will grow with him.
Love the rhythm and flow. Every page is unexpected and covers a wide range of imagination. The illustrations are wonderful. I laugh out loud every time we get to the blizzard part. Super fun little story.
