Janilise Lloyd is the author of the young adult fantasy series The Sinking Kingdom, including Shadowed Memories and Forgotten Crown. She’s a former junior high school teacher and works in the finance industry, but creating stories is what she loves the most. Janilise lives in Utah with her husband and kids. She enjoys the outdoors and balances a passion for running with a love of all things dessert. From it's captivating beginning to the surprise, spine-tingling end, I loved this book! It is very well written and full of lots of good, clean, fanciful suspense that will without a doubt be enjoyed by all ages. I found myself carried away into another realm following Ava through her hair-raising experiences and unexpected challenges, as her powers and their limits were revealed to both her and to her opponents. Be prepared to sit back, kick up your feet, and be entertained, but don't be too surprised if-without even knowing it-you find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat. I found myself wondering, "Who is Ava, really?" And, is she a "good guy" or is she "bad?" "What about the other characters entangled in this fantastical tale?" This is a great lighthearted read perfect for your afternoon at the beach or wrapped up in a comfy quilt in your favorite chair. Can't wait for the next installment!

Creative, new, refreshing

I really enjoyed reading Cyrun. I knew that this was Janalises first book, so honestly, my expectation wasn’t too high, but thought I’d give it a shot because it sounded like a book I would enjoy. I absolutely LOVED it. I read it in a weekend and was dying for the next book. (For the record, books usually take me weeks to read, even short ones- but I couldn’t put it down.) I loved the story, finding out Ava’s new powers along with her. Stellar read. Can’t wait for more of her work.

I had been looking for a book I couldn't put down for a long time and this one finally did the trick! I was sucked into this exciting, clean, and unique story right from the beginning. It has lots of good twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. Now I can't wait for the next book to be released so I can find out what happens next!

This was exactly my type of book! I had a hard time putting it down! I love gaining new friends within the pages of a good book and found myself feeling that way about Ava, the main character. What a fun, exciting book!
