“Bailey Ann Mayfair, when are you going to marry me?” With those words, Bailey Ann’s already messy world began to spin out of control.

The dutiful oldest daughter, Bailey Ann is the one who came home to care for her parents, but she’s never felt more lost. Always the perfect child, she did everything the right way, including giving up the boy she loved.

But Finn Malloy is back in town, too, and even he’s not sure where he stands with Bailey Ann. She once cut him so deep he never thought he’d recover. Now that she’s back, though… he can’t stop thinking about what might have been.

Once her high school boyfriend, he’s now little more than a stranger she used to love. History says they’re no good together, but the present doesn’t agree. One night with Finn and all of Bailey Ann’s perfect plans go out the window.

Will Finn ever find a way to forgive her? Can Bailey Ann let go and let herself really love him this time?

DNF.

Nope. The heroine is a cow, a judgy, pass-agg spinster and there's no coming back from that. I can't be arsed.
But it gets a bit worse, because in addition to making her unlikable the writer oh-so-charitably made her sisters beautiful but the heroine herself plain to the point of unattractive - brown hair, brown eyes, square face, staid, old-maid wardrobe.

Like I'm gonna believe the lad on the front of the book is going to be hopelessly in love with a bitter, 34 yo shrew with unremarkable looks and a colourless wardrobe.
Let's be clear here - a heroine doesn't always have to be dead gorgeous, but if she's going to be on the average or even plain side, she best by God be likable - and 'Bailey Ann' is not. From other reviews I read, she doesn't become so, either.

Another thing I could have done without were the double first names of all the sisters and that they were always addressed as such.
Maybe a little less stereotyping next time...

The first few chapters of this book were a total downer, not because of the scene or situation therein, but the heroine's perspective. I kept hearing Eeyore from Winnie-the-Pooh and I just do not have that to do. I'm beyond the stage of sticking it out for a book with an odious heroine in the hopes it will get better.
Fact: It almost never does.

“Bailey Ann Mayfair, when are you going to marry me?”

We previously met Bailey and Finn in Gifted however this book can be read as stand-alone. Finn and Bailey were high school sweethearts that broke up. Despite breaking his heart, Finn has always held a torch for Bailey Ann. Finn is a wonderful swoon worthy character. Bailey is a more complicated character, where there are things I liked about her, but most of the time found her frustrating because she got in her own way, instead of just accepting who she loved. Finn has the patience and understanding of a saint. It isn’t until you get flash backs of their high school days that you understand why he has always loved her. We meet Bailey Ann’s sisters and learn more about her family background and others that live in Breathless Georgia. One of the things I loved about this series, is the Southern etiquette advice that started the many chapters. It gives cultural context and the why behind attitudes and behaviours of characters. The groundwork for the next book in the series is set up in this story. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

This is one of those books you will not want to put down. I was absorbed into it as soon as I started. The setting is a very small town and the problems are ones easily visualized. This book is very relatable and the details make it so easy to feel like you are right there with everyone in it. I was brought to tears several times throughout the story…happy and sad. I love both Bailey Ann and Finn as well as the other various important players in this town. I already miss them all and wish I could just keep reading. I am excited for the continuation of this series!

Bailey Ann and Finn fell in love back in high school but when it was time to go to college she broke up with him and they went their separate ways. When Bailey Ann goes home to care for her dying father she finds Finn again. Their feelings for each other are still there but Bailey Ann can't trust them. She wants what all women want, home and children but she just can't find Mr. Right. When family and friends start telling her why, everything she has ever believed, she finds is wrong. A confusing time but Finn is still there.

Bailey Ann Mayfair was a typical high class Southern Belle, in fact the county was named after her family, she was brought up to be a lady, she was head cheerleader at school, prom queen, grade A pupil but she had fallen deeply in love with Finn Malloy. son of poor Irish immigrants.

When Bailey Ann went to university she wrote Finn a polite letter breaking up with him, although she loved him deeply she knew they would never fit together, her mother said so.......she also broke Finn's heart.

Many years later, when both her parents had died, Bailey Ann returned to Breathless, Georgia to decide what to do with her parent's house, ironically, Finn, now an architect, was doing the same thing....was the chemistry still there? Could they have a second chance ?

This is basically a story of the deep rooted, often hidden racism that existed between the different classes and colours, it was instilled from an early age, Bailey Ann's mother was still controlling her from the grave, could she and Finn get passed this or would she loose him forever.

This is quite a long story but well told, it highlights how, in the high society South, politeness and etiquette were ingrained but so were other attributes not so savoury , things that they probably didn't realise, hidden racism and class distinction.

I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the next one in the series.

I have read the Wilder series by Savannah Kade and was really looking forward to reading this.Had a rather good impression of the author.
Sad to say that after reading this, I am beyond disappointed.
There was practically nothing in this book.
Bailey Ann is a seriously irritating character. She seems to be a snob, an elitist and the whole book is that she likes Finn but feels they don't fit , wont work out and wants what her parents had.
Slowly through the book, it come that her mom was a racist, elitist and has shaped her views and she is having a hard time changing her world view.
Finn was a total and complete doormat. He fell in love with her as a kid. She broke his heart. He comes back for more and more and more and keeps trying to play the 'long game'.
There is no part in the book where you feel like you love the characters, the chemistry, the witty banter, the deep meaningful reveal. Nothing!!.
It is a story that seemingly mindlessly goes on.
A very poor effort indeed.
Definitely not going back for more of this series.

Finn has always loved Bailey Ann but they ended up apart due to her mother’s prejudice about Finn’s family being immigrants. It took Bailey Ann 15 years to realise this as she had let her mothers thoughts dictate her life.
After her fathers death they become close again while renovating their parents houses and Bailey Ann still thinks they are wrong for each other but Finn does not give up.
I loved the intense story this book told but for me there was far too much detail in their house renovations and southern ways, plus Bailey Ann’s character could have lightened up and you just wanted to shake her. I found her very frustrating. She wanted the perfect life and Finn was there in front of her ready to give her the world but she was wearing blinkers.
I have read all the books in this series but this was not my favourite even though I loved it.

Sweet story

Kade pens a sweet story in Perfect. I haven't read work from this author before, and I did like this story. I liked the premise of the story, and of course, the main character, Baily Ann, is someone to get used to. I wasn't sure if I liked her, but then I realized that could be a good thing. I understand the wanting to be perfect, but no one is. The premise of the story was intriguing, as two high-school sweethearts, now grown have reconnected. There is a lot of secrets and details of the past that impact the future. Knowing her backstory, can kind of give the reader insight into why and how she acts. I liked the story, the characters, especially with all of their flaws. No one is perfect, even in a good story. Kade is a good storyteller. Perfect is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author.

"Tell me you're going to marry that Malloy boy this time."

Bailey and Finn, this was a good one! I love a good second chance romance. The complexity of things made the book that much better. I wasn't a fan of how the book just ended. I definitely had an after all we've been through moment. To have read 50+ chapters and have it end the way it did...I don't need a preview of the next book at the end of this one, give me all of Bailey and Finn as possible. The revealing conversations with Aunt Gigi and Nana Rue, almost took me out. I loved them and all they revealed.

Perfect: Breathless Book 1 by Savannah Kade was a Cool Drink of Southern Lemonade with a Hot Irish Hunk!

I absolutely adored Finn Malloy, the H, and Irish immigrant. He made my heart soar with his devotion to Bailey Ann Mayfair, the h.

Bailey Ann, was another story entirely!

She was nieve to the point of stupidity, in my opinion, and I had trouble trying to be ok with their happy ever after.

The only thing that got me through was the fact that I wanted Finn to have everything that he desired.

To say that I enjoyed this story would be a gross understatement!

Perfect was an interesting read. Finn is a sweetheart as he is so caring and so romantic and so obviously in love with Bailey Ann. Bailey Ann is the epitome of the Southern belle who always needs to be perfect and do the right thing which to be honest, can be quite annoying. Their chemistry together is steamy hot and there is a HEA. The best parts are the glimpses back to the past when they were together as it really tells a lot about the story of why Finn is trying to pursue her again.

This whole series is wonderful. I've read them out of order but still fall in love with each character as they are highlighted in their own story. Savannah Kade deals with heavy issues (death of a parent, racism in the family, immigration) without dragging down the story or making too big of an issue out of it. These issues simply help the characters come to grips with past decisions in their lives and help them discover more about themselves.

This is a story of a real Southern bell the town princess who was just perfect....except I just wanted to yell at her most of the time. Didn't realize it was so difficult to be the perfect southern lady but this book showed me it was. The reason I continued to read was because of the hero who was so very patient and loving, and because after all that even tho I wasn't sure, it ended well. Apparently this is the start of a series which I may read as the heroine of the next book seems far more interesting and far from perfect.

I enjoyed this book. It’s a bit emotional. Bailey Ann returns home to help her Dad before he dies. Finn is her high school love and he’s there too. Do they still love each other? She seems to need everything to be perfect, will they work out? I had some happy tears in the end.

Loved the story

This would be a five star book except for there were several places (maybe 5 or so) where words were missing in a sentence or mixed up. The story is great. The town is fun to read about. I am enjoying the books. I wish they were edited a tad better.

Bailey Ann and Finn met as children, dated through high school, and then she broke it off. Now fifteen years later, she’s back in their hometown to clear out her parents' home after they both died. Well, she’s been living there for a few months taking care of her dad.

But now Finn’s back to take care of his parents' old house and they reconnect once again. And that flame is still there between them. Only, Bailey Ann thinks love that’s hot like theirs will burn out quickly. She thinks she wants slow and steady, although she turned down two proposals that fit that description. But when she finds out something about Finn’s past, she doesn’t know if they can make it.

Bailey Ann and Finn get their happy ending in this stand-alone book in a series.

While they are supposed to be in their thirties, it often read like they were in their early twenties. And it also seemed like Bailey continued her sheltered life after she left home. Which didn’t seem to do her any favors. But do have to wonder, if her aunt and grandma have said something sooner if Finn and Bailey Ann wouldn’t have broken up after high school.
