Booker is a loner … at least in most respects. He has friends but is perfectly fine being a man of mystery. There’s one exception to that rule: June Seaver. Booker volunteers to help her around her aging hotel in the heart of Moonstone Bay’s business district whenever he can spare the time. On one of those visits, the older woman takes a spill and finds herself in the hospital … at the exact worst time. It seems she has a modeling shoot scheduled at her facility and it’s enough money to keep her operation running smoothly for at least a year. All that goes away if she’s not there. It’s Booker to the rescue, of course, but he’s won’t be doing it alone. Sheriff Galen Blackwood and local witch Hadley Hunter are helping. That’s good, because it seems there’s a mystery afoot. Someone keeps tearing apart the storage rooms and even attacks the photo shoot director. It’s up to Booker and his motley group of heroes to solve the case, keep the shoot on schedule and hunt down a potential killer. It’s all in a day’s work for Moonstone Bay’s favorite jack-of-all-trades. He just has to keep everyone alive to save the day … and show he’s a cupid with a heart of gold along the way.
Note: This is a 30,000-word short set in the Moonstone Bay universe.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
A very cute funny Booker tale to add to my Moonstone Bay favorites.
An elderly resident in crisis, Booker to the rescue with the assistance of Hadley and Galen. Some really funny lines and a couple of new character's that I' not really sure I like...lol but time will tell.
Booker has a deadline to help Mrs. Seaver but obstacles keep getting in the way, there are gorgeous models everywhere, someone is playing tricks at the hotel and Booker has had enough. it's a good thing he has Galen and Hadley for back-up and I have to say I really love the banter between the three of them it's truly hilarious and delightful but then I have a totally sarcastic sense of humor it's why Amada's books always tickle me...lol
When June Seaver falls and breaks her hip Booker who loves her like she's his grandma steps in to save the day.
With a lucrative photoshoot booked and St Pierre from the DDA sniffing around for an opportunity to force June to sell her hotel Booker, Galen and Hadley team up to help out. When the photographer is whacked on the head with a bookend it initially appears to be over but a loophole in the contract provides a way out. The contract states as long as the shoot is completed by "a professional photographer". It just so happens that Jared, the vampire funeral director, is also a professional photographer and he's more than happy to help June keep the DDA at bay. With a shelter on the beach to protect him from the sun it's all back on when Hadley disappears along with the concierge.. what is going on and can they save the day for June?
Funny little tale, which doesn't disappoint.. would be great to hear more about the members of the DDA, seriously would have liked to know what St Pierre was up to and if he magically caused June's accident though!!
Broker and Galen's friend, June has a problem; a Big one! She's fallen and displaced her hip. She's down for the count, just when an important photo shoot is due to take place using her hotel as a base. June needs the money to pay the dreaded DDA's fees, not to mention paying for many needed repairs on and around the hotel. Like the friend he is, Booker volunteers to be the liaison to the man running the shoot, and Galen volunteers Hadly as assistant to the models. One of the DDA members is trying to weasel his way into buying June's property, and her friends are determined to stop him, whatever it takes. It will take all of them working together save the hotel for June, make the photo shoot a success, and help her pay her medical bills. June is a descendant of a famous, (on Moonstone Bay), pirate, and someone wants the treasure they are convinced is hidden somewhere in her hotel. Then someone tries to murder the photographer. Will the friends get everything sorted before the DDA steps in? Who is after the treasure, and what will they do to find it? Read this fun story to find out. I highly recommend the entire series!
A great read and although I enjoyed it, I must admit that I had been hoping that Brooker would meet his match. Alright, he might already have met her but I was thinking of someone around his age. A lovely read, feel good but also has some humour thrown in. By the way the men react to the models and all the threats to behead her. But this is mainly about Brooker and his concern when his surrogate mother suddenly breaks her hip. Now he has promised to be the liason for the photographer and the models that are just about to descend on the hotel. A knocked out photographer, a contract, a death wish aimed at a certain witch, a determined attempt to buy the hotel, mortician, hidden treasure and a senior undergoing surgery. All mixed into a light read that is amusing but hardly a real mystery.
Cupid in Crisis is book 3.5 and is a quick novella. If you have an aversion to sexual innuendos or jokes you probably will want to skip this series but if you want a funny paranormal cozy mystery it is great. This book is written from Booker's point of view which is interesting. Hadley is a witch who moved to Moonstone Bay recently and is dating Galen, the sheriff in town. Booker and Galen are mostly friends but purposely irritate each other which is usually funny. Booker and Galen are close with June Seaver who owns one of the hotels. Booker is helping her when she falls and ends up in the hospital. She has a big photo shoot happening and she needs the money. Booker, Galen and Hadley help out. Someone is injured and there are some problems that keep them busy. A fun paranormal cozy mystery! #CupidInCrisis #AMoonstoneBayCozyMystery
A nice little mystery in which an old.friend of Bookers and Galens, June Seavers she owns a dilapidated hotel in the beach of Moonstone Bay, she has.known the.two since.they were small children and has.always been very kind to them. Now, June is getting older so Booker often drops into her hotel helping with any maintenance she may need doing. On this occasion he's painting her porch fence when June has.a bad fall. She needs someone.to step in and take.over at the hotel till she's.back in her.feet so Booker steps.up.and promises to make sure everything is ok. Mayhem ensues.
This author, this series, and this character, Booker, are enjoyable...which makes this mystery short such a surprising triple disappointment. Sure, it's fine to see the depth of feeling the cupid is capable of, but the opportunity to flesh out Booker's background as the lead is squandered. Info on St. Pierre and the DDA could have been logically inserted within this storyline. Instead, pages are wasted on a lightweight mystery and childish, incessant bickering that made previously well-liked characters very unlikable. And the reader doesn't even get the payoff of learning what is discovered regarding the mystery! An unsatisfying read.
After reading the first four books in this series I was more than ready for something featuring Booker. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Booker in the other books and had developed an idea of who Booker was and how he looked. This story is a crushing disappointment on many levels. There is still hope that Booker will find someone who is immune to his charms but is all for the real guy. Just hope when it comes that it's well written and bothing like this small effort.
About a quarter of the book was a story, a quarter of the book was bickering with background story. The other half of the book was filled bickering just annoying and added nothing to the story. There had to be a minimum of 20 pages of Hadely and Paige bickering back and forth that served zero substance to the book. I normally love these books however this one fell short. If you cut the Paige part the rest would have been better.
Who doesn't love cupid? Well Booker is a cupid who is not looking for love but seems to be having a good time avoiding it. Shenanigans abound when Booker's and Galean's favorite inn owner is stricken and needs help. Models and vampires, werewolves and witches, crazy ex girlfriends and obnoxious pirate ode readers on my! Laugh out loud funny! Another great book by Amanda M Lee!
All of these characters are great and I love when authors invest in short stories so we get to know everyone better. Anyone who loves Booker in Moonstone Bay won't want to miss this one. Also, this one can be read at any time, but I would have enjoyed it even more if I'd read this short between books 4 and 5 of the Moonstone Bay Series, since some events in the short are referenced in book 5.
Hard to imagine a Cupid this way and I love it. I almost feel sorry for him because of the things he must put up with because of who he is. Not just a normal human. I love to get lost reading this type of book. Depending on your tastes and what your reading preferences are I feel you will love this short book and wish it was longer.
A quick short that was quite enjoyable and like all her books ended before I wanted it to. I catch myself speed reading to see what happens and have to keep making myself slow down. When reading one of the shorts it really makes the story fly by. Quite fun and liked the little mystery. Seeing Hadley from Booker's perspective made her seem a bit like Aisling. Recommended.
This story centers around Booker, a Cupid, who is one of the characters in this series. This book gives a glimpse into the inner workings of Booker’s mind. He sets out to help an elderly lady who owns the hotel in Moonstone Bay. She trips and injures her hip and Booker offers to help. An interesting book.
This book was a fun read. It is from Booker's point of view, the Moonshine Bay cupid. Booker and several other locals come together to help a beloved elderly resident. But mischief is up, again, and the Moonshine Bay residents are up to the challenge. I really enjoyed this book.
MS. Lee has several series, all of which contain interesting characters, snark, humor and a fun plot line. My personal favorites are those in which characters from one series show up in another. I personally read everything she writes and always look forward to her next book .
A short, fun story that introduces a new character on the island, June Seaver. I hope we get more of her with Booker as she finds him a “mate” and what will she do with that treasure? Remodel a hotel?! One can hope! Amanda is an amazing writer and her stories are worth it!
Hotel owner ended up in hospital after a fall so two men she helped raise came in to help. With one being the sheriff his girlfriend pitched in to help keep a photo shoot at the hotel on track. Things keep going wrong. Finding the responsible party is important. Fun read.
This story was fantastic! Booker has been pretty much an enigma throughout the Moonstone Bay series but not so much now. He's a cupid that's not looking for love, even though women throw themselves at him all the time. I loved getting to see more of why he is the way he is and why. This was a fun story and Hadley and Galen do eventually show up to help. A lot of chaos ensues and a fun mystery is finally solved. Can't wait for more stories about Moonstone Bay!
Wonderful and characters as usual, something that I expect from Amanda M Lee and have not been disappointed in. I will continue reading her writing as long as she keeps delivering such great people and storylines.
A quick visit to Moonstone Bay. Short and sweet. Nice to catch up with the characters with Booker taking more of the centre stage. Pirate treasure and a meeting with a member of the SEA who makes a sinister appearance. They are going to be trouble later on. Fun read.
I always love the short stories of the different series. You always learn more about the different characters individually which just adds more to the story. Check it out as well as the series and all of the other series by Amanda.
I cannot begin to describe what a good read this book is. I liked it from Booker's point of view. Amanda M. Lee's books are such good reads no matter which series it is! Check out the Winchester Witches and the Grimlocks stories especially!
A light and fun read from Hadley's world on Moonstone bay, featuring Booker. a good story and a nice insight into Booker and Galen's past, although I would have liked to have seen more cupid in Booker.
Really enjoyed this short story from and about Booker, the author has a great sense of humour that I particularly like with great interaction between the characters. Love all her books.
Loved Booker and Gareth working together, but could have done without the added drama element of Gareth's ex-girlfriend from high school. After awhile you get over old boyfriends.
The character of Booker makes me laugh and I was so excited to see a short story written about him. This book was hysterical while also really diving to the history of the characters of Moonstone Bay. Loved it.
So it's been a while since I read any Moonstone Bay books but this one was rough to read. Hadley is so annoying to me in this book. Don't feel like reading more of the series now.
I am slightly disappointed! This was not a book about Booker - neither past, present or future — It was a story of Booker and Galen and Hayley doing a good deed. I enjoyed the story; but had built my hopes up that it would be about Booker - it was all in the name L0L
