How many times can you cheat death? I’m not sure but I have a feeling I’m about to be tested.
First there were thirteen and now there’s only one. But the responsibilities don’t lessen. Bring the Harvest in, they say, take the soul orb to Haven, they order.
One of me, and too many places to be. Like hell am I putting my ass on the line without back up. Because Genesis is out there, and it’s not done playing, and if I die, the Hive dies.
But a team can’t shield me forever.
Some paths must be walked alone, and when I’m forced to play soul courier it will have to be a journey that’s taken solo.
The Dead Zone awaits, and Death is calling.
A Post-Apocalyptic Urban fantasy world with a slow burn Whychoose Romance.
Debbie Cassidy lives in England, Bedfordshire, with her three kids and very supportive husband. Coffee and chocolate biscuits are her writing fuels of choice, and she is still working on getting that perfect tower of solitude built in her back garden. Obsessed with building new worlds and reading about them, she spends her spare time daydreaming and conversing with the characters in her head. She writes Urban Fantasy, Romance, Fantasy and Reverse Harem Fantasy. All her books contain plenty of action, romance and twisty plots.
Hunter is a shade. I was right. But will he be part of the harem or play some other role in the future?
Emory is the son of a cambian and an empath and has that dual nature like Serenity did. His is Gideon. He wears the gloves to keep from manipulating or feeding from memories maybe? Strong possible for harem.
Finn is wishy washy. He wants to be with Echo but has a duty to his pack and the hive. After saying he loves her, sleeping with her and being her first, he wanted to be a lone wolf to be with her. His alpha dad talks him into staying since he's a strong next in line alpha. Still a possible for harem.
Micha is Wila and Azren's son I think. He is Echo's kindred. Half shedim and half dragon, can't fully shift, but can cloak. Harem #1. Healed by Echo's green mojo.
Lyrian is Wila and Valance's son. He is Echo's scalemate. There seems to be some sexual attraction between them though most scalemates are like friends or siblings. Gonna be in harem probably. Likes spending time with Gem and Bry.
Deacon is attracted to her and read her memories and found out about Hunter. He was with Marika before she died. He is sanguinata and is a possible for harem.

3.5ish stars. Echo is really in it deep now. Here she is, the only gaurdian left.. with a list of crap a mile long to do. First and foremost, get the souls of the dead into deaths hands. I saw some reviews about people recognizing some characters from the previous series and it makes me want to cry because I just can't remember. Obviously, Death.. has more going on than we would think. I'm still a little confused on the guys.. I mean it seems like we have a lot going on in that department. And of course those guys all have their own issues.. some more than others lol.
Honestly, though we definitely have some things happening in this book, it feels almost like a side quest to the story. It wasn't boring by any means or anything it just didn't feel like it tied in to the whole genesis thing much. It seems that we are getting some reveals about genesis though getting a tiny bit of info here and there dropped like Hansel and Gretel style. I'm still just a little lost by how we have gotten to this point, despite having read the previous series.
Hopefully as the story progresses we get some really in depth backstory.. or something. There are also all these viewpoints some of which don't seem to be making all that much sense in relation to Echo right now. There is just a lot to deal with for our poor FMC, and it seems others might be stirring up even more to put on her plate.. Just trying to stay afloat here.
Every time I saw a character from Chronicles of Midnight and Chronicles of Arcana it just made me smile.
Also, Micha might just be the most lovely guy ever! I really liked the developments with Emory, Deacon and Lyrian here, too. I don't know how she manages to pull off the magical connection trope so we'll, making it both slow and fast burn.
We see Echo begin to come into her powers here, but there is still so much potential. To her power.
I'm also always impressed by how she manages to cram so much action and chatacet development into what is a short book!
💫Fast paced ✔️ 💫Insta bond but not instalove ... bond is there but MC takes her time building the relationship with each bond ✔️ 💫Different mixed supes ✔️ 💫Old characters from previous books ✔️ 💫Time spent scratching my head remembering who those characters where ✔️ Yes yes yes, look there were moments where the “magic” of the world Debbie has created got me a bit 🤷🏻♀️ but I rolled with it, I love the steam and the different men around her, the history of old world characters and the decisions they made now clashing with the present characters, it’s dramatic and so so so quick I was not bored once, I devoured this book and am hooked to read the next one.

Why can’t I find a series that doesn’t have a second book slump?! I don’t know what in particular irked me, but I expected more from this one. More relationship building. More plot. More depth. I didn’t get any of these, the “mater/fated” trope is strong with this one as the cure all to emotional intimacy. The book felt really unfocused with an almost absurd task set out before our mc.
And when did Harker turn into a villain? And Willa is boring.
I suppose we are supposed to intuit that a century of war and loss has taken these good things away from them. I already struggle to enjoy dystopian novels, and this one falls into that category, methinks.
Now it’s getting interesting, I wasn’t expecting Lyrian but towards the end I’m hoping things work out. He’s so sweet. Definitely prefer Wila to Harker but it’s so good to see the old characters. Azren and Wila together are so adorable. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

The deadworld above and the political world below are melding, showing Echo the shadows that linger over her once stable world. It’s fainting, a bit heart breaking and all together epic.
Debbie astounds once again! I read this book in one sitting! I could not put it down! This is the second installment of the post-apocalyptic Deadworld Chronicles and it really truly has become one of my favorite series of hers! ( I may say that about all her series!) I just love the character development, world building and relationships in this series! I love that we also get a glimpse of characters from other series as well. I love the slow but not so slow burn romance that makes you swoon. I really love the fact that Echo is so upfront about her fears and insecurities but she still pushes herself . This makes Echo so much more… relatable. She has faced and dealt with so much pain already. Echo has so many challenges ahead of her, this book picks up where we left off. Echo is now the only guardian for at least the next 9 months and this puts a lot of pressure on her, but she also starts to understand that she is not alone. We learn more about how she became what she now is. Other secrets and revelations are made, and new characters are introduced. While some of her relationships grow stronger and take some really unique turns, she also feels the loss of other relationships. Most of the men in her life are absolutely swoon worthy, while others make you want to yell at them! Debbie has done a fantastic job of creating such well-developed characters that pull at your heart and make you feel so much. Everything in this book is neatly wound together, with a great pace where the actions, romance, suspense and drama all flow so well together and makes for very enjoyable and engrossing read. I highly recommend this series!
I'm not sure how she does it, but Debbie Cassidy has done it yet again. Every time I read one of her books, I can't imagine how the next one can be better. But Debbie Cassidy manages it every time. It's another book I just couldn't put down and managed to read in one sitting.
I admit there are some parts of the books where I just wanted to smack the boys heads together, especially Micha and Emory. I loved seeing some of the characters we have already encountered in previous series as well as new characters that are brought into this series. With Echo now the only guardian for the next nine months, it's interesting to see how someone just coming into these new powers deals with not only that but the heavy burden that has been put on their shoulders.
I do have to say though there is one bit of the book that broke my heart, and that was when Echo went to see Tris' mum. Echo already feels guilty for what happened to her best friend, but her mum just made it so much worse and my heart hurt for Echo. At that point, I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and tell her it wasn't her fault.
Honestly, I can not wait for the next book in this series. I want to see what else happens with Echo, as well as the men in her life.
This story is an enigma. Echo is the only guardian left, remade by the arcana, and now a huge burden is resting on her shoulders. However, she is not facing the danger alone, slowly pulling (ok, in some cases rather fast) an interesting bunch of strong, attractive, and very capable men to her. Her allies, protectors, backups... and love interests. Shifting, changing directions, twisting and turning, jumping at you poor unsuspecting reader. Talk about effective writing - there is so much stuffed into such a relatively small space, so much going on, yet not lacking anything in the world building or providing the explanatory backstory when needed. Romance blossoms in every direction despite the dire circumstances Echo finds herself in, and the raw chemistry projects from the pages onto the reader very easily. Every chapter reveals more of the complexity of the intricate plot, its political schemes and manipulations, long lost secrets resurfacing in often a painful manner. It was a hell of a ride, a whirlwind of emotions and action, with lots of interesting characters, and I can't wait to read the next book - it cannot come soon enough.
DEAD CITY moves at a fast pace with lots of danger involved at every turn. Debbie continues to do a good job of cramming a lot of things and events into a small number of pages without making you feel like things are being hurried along.
DEAD City was just as character driven as DEADWORLD and it was neat getting some more time with characters from other series in the same world. Some I like more than others, but it's still neat getting to know their future selves. One of the issues I had with DEADWORLD was that there wasn't a lot of focus on Echo's siblings. DEAD CITY definitely does a better job at addressing what is happening with them.
The harem has definitely been started in DEAD CITY. There is a bit more romance involved in DEAD CITY as well as a little more time involved with building the relationships between the harem members. Still a long way to go, but it's moving along.
I look forward to seeing what Debbie has planned for Echo, her men and the world.

Debbie Cassidy has yet to disappoint me!! How is it that each series just keeps getting better and better?
In Dead City we have Echo still training. She is learning about her powers, making her body and mind physically as best as she can. She will be the only Guardian for nine months. She has to be focused and strong. All the while trying to deal with her grief about what happened to the other potentials. Lets not get into her relationships. Some progress like we want them to, some don't, and we have a surprise addition. I must say that I am very excited to see what happens in book three Dead Sea with her relationships and with whom.
Once I started this book I could not put it down. Debbie has a way of creating this world and characters that just grab ahold of you and does not let go. She always writes these characters that have layers as she slowly peels them back. Well done, Ms. Cassidy and I cannot wait for Dead Sea!! Like really, I need it now!!! lol
Wow there was so much in this book. This second book in the Chronicles of Deadworld picked right up where the first book ended. Echo is trying to understand and grow into her powers since she is now the only Guardian for at least nine months. At the same time, she is trying to deal with her grief about seeing what happened to the other potentials. As some of her relationships, old and new, grow and get stronger, some relationships start to fall apart. I love how well-defined all the characters are, flaws and all (which I love when characters have flaws).
I wasn't able to put this book down and now I am impatiently waiting for the third book. I honestly can't wait to see what Debbie Cassidy comes up with. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
So this book had no chill. It starts right after book one with the action and doesn’t let up the whole time. I get like I couldn’t put it down because who knows what would have happened if I walked away for a minute! Debbie always has some of the best female mc’s and Echo is no different. She’s learning more about her powers and being the only guardian and in true Debbie fashion we’re slowly building the relationships with the guys. I love it, the slow build the anticipation ❤️❤️❤️ Can’t wait for book 3
Book 2 continues the fast-paced, television-show like action of heroine Echo Patch and all of her potential mates. I can't really list the things about this book I liked the most, as doing so would constitute spoilers. I'll just say I can always count on this author to provide an entertaining story, one that is not weighed down by a ton of detail or mythology, and one that has a tough heroine and attractive heroes - I am partial to Deacon and Lyrian in this installment as far as those go. Looking forward to book 3! 3.5 Stars
Wow. I simply couldn’t put this book down and now that i’m finished, I want more. Echo is a smart and brave woman who is coming into her own. Becoming a guardian isn’t exactly what she wanted to do but she’s ready to do it to save the Hive. Plus she has help from the men around her. There is so much sexual tension going on it’s palpable. There was action, fighting and secrets to be revealed. I highly recommend this one and I can’t wait for the next book.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
Wow! Book one knocked it out of the park but I don't have words to describe book 2. I just finished the book and words are just so inadequate right now. It was really that good. Echo really is such an amazing character and easily takes a spot in my top 10 favorite FMC ever and trust me when I say that I really love to read....A LOT! I really can't wait for this series to be finished so I can devour all the books in one go! Book 3 can't come fast enough.
OMG I loved this! I thought the first book was awesome but this second book just blew me away! Fast paced and Carrying on from the first book there is non stop Action, danger, mystery, romance, twists, turns, great character development as you see Echo grow and learn more about her powers, and slow anticipation as the relationships between the men grows also. I am so looking forward to the next book!
Yes yes and more yes. Debbie NEVER disappoints! Echo is awesome and finally learning to come into her powers but she still has so much she’s able to do and hasn’t gotten to yet. Cassidy’s character development is always fantastic and great to read. Every time we see a CoM or CoA character I squealed like a little girl 😍 Book 2 picks up where book 1 ends and boy is it a kickass read! I could not put it down! I highly recommend this read!
This book was amazing! I didn’t even realize it was showing characters from the other two series I’ve read until this book, way into the future! In this book, Echo is the last guardian and she is coming into powers she never had before, creating bonds and feelings with the men in her life that leave her confused but also complete. So much happened in this book and I cannot wait to read the next one!!!!
Why do these books have to be so addictive. Once you start you can't put them down. How am I supposed to to wait a month for the next one. Normally I'm not into loving multiple dudes but the way it's written even I fall for the lead males. Speaking of which having to choose between being with the one you love and saving literally everyone is a hard thing to do. Hopefully that sacrifice won't be in vain because Finn deserves to be with Echo too.
The second book in the Chronicles of Deadworld is amazing. The scenery is descriptive and engaging. The characters are more developed and feisty. With the main character coming into her own she has had more then a few setbacks that help her develop a strong spine for what she must face. I am highly anticipating the third book in this series. Well done Debbie! Highly recommended read.
Everytime I think Debbie can’t write any better she exceeds it with the following book. I’ve got to say this is my favourite of all her series and book two does not disappoint. The energy and feels from the first book continue and the thrill ride does not stop. I can not recommend this series highly enough.
Debbie manages to keep her readers enraptured with her vivid imagery, world building and great storytelling. This book is fast paced, has action, drama, chemistry and wonderful paranormal characters. Happily, there are even some of our favorites from Chronicles of Midnight. I loved this book and would recommend it to others. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Book 2 starts right where the first book stopped. Echo is coming into and developing her powers and her journey is filled with twists and turns you won't see coming. I love the descriptive writing and depth of characters this author always brings, proving once again why she is a one-click author for me. Excited to see where the next book takes us.
3.5 stars. The pacing was excellent in Dead City, but I was annoyed that the main character, Echo, was lusted after by almost every male she came into contact with, and she reciprocated most of those feelings. But I really enjoyed the engaging plot in this second installment. And I liked Echo’s tenacity, too. Onto book 3!
Always tugs at the heartstrings! Love is messy, and illogical, and can cut as well as heal. Another exceptional installment with a fast paced plot, men you want for your own and a fmc you want to BE, which really is the cardinal sign of a wonderful writer.
