This ground-breaking book provides practical, evidence-based health advice for people affected by Addison's Disease, a rare endocrine disorder in which the adrenal glands do not produce enough steroid hormones. It's a collaboration between a renowned consultant endocrinologist and person who has been living well with Addison's for over 30 years.
I’ve been diagnosed with Addison’s Disease for a year now so I was familiar with a lot of the information. However, I think this book is a must-read for someone newly diagnosed & their support system.
Brilliant, Easy to Read Book to guide you through new life with PAI/SAI
This book is suggested on the Addison's self help group as a book to read which does not overwhelm, but breaks everything down into manageable chunks. If you are new to this condition, this book is a must read.
This book offered some great tips, and I bookmarked multiple passages. For example, the dosage suggestions with weight examples and sick day dosing information was helpful and will likely serve as a future excellent reference. My only critique is there were less daily life tips than I had hoped for. Like, can we drink coffee? Have wine? How does heat affect us? Are there any helpful supplements? Lastly, this book contains info specific to the UK health system, so that won’t apply for this of us living in other countries.
This book was a quick, easy read and gave me all kinds of information regarding my LT significant others' illness and treatment. Would definitely recommend for any and all of his friends/family!!! It's a 45 minute read and is eye opening for what all Addisons patients really deal with and some of the more nuanced intricacies of Addisons Disease. GREAT resource!!!
I find this book very informative and a bit confusing, but I believe it's due to how many autoimmune diseases can be similar to other autoimmune diseases. I found a lot of great ways to deal with this illness and can't wait to reread it again as I believe these type of books should be read constantly to keep updated in what they may have missed the first time. Thanks goodreads and author gor this chance to read this book.
I did not know what to expect, I have to say it helped me a lot. I am a new Addisons pt, and don’t understand a lot, I am going through a weight gain. This is something I do not want, gained a lot with my Pituitary Tumor. Please not again!
Any information on Addison’s will be gladly accepted by me. There is not a lot of information available here in the US, so I am grateful for the team who put this book together. We need more info for the widely growing autoimmune community. Thank you!
This was a great read and gave me some very helpful information. The book was reader friendly and answered a lot of my questions. I would love a sequel that goes more in-depth.
Even though I had picked up much of the guidance contained in this book in bits and pieces elsewhere, I'm so glad to find this concise, well-written source for managing life with Addison's.
