Sometimes Biology can make you; sometimes it can break you.
For Jade, living with a sweet old couple and volunteering at an animal shelter is a world away from living on the streets like a beaten dog. She knows the eighteen months of her life she lost must have been horrific, if her mind made her forget them. But when she meets five returned vets living rough in the forest and starts seeing weird things, she has to wonder if her lost memory and the men are somehow connected.
It is unheard for Danan warriors to find their podmate before the age of thirty, so when a pod of five young Danans meets Jade, the youngest human captive rescued from the Lyations, they don’t understand what is happening to them. But before they can properly find out, Jade is sent back to Earth and her memory of her time on an alien planet light-years from home wiped, supposedly forever.
Driven by their biology, the young alien warriors follow her to Earth against orders. And when poachers try to abduct Jade once again, her pod has no choice but to save her and go on the run from both the poachers and the Confederacy. Because, when a podmate is found, no matter their age, nothing can be allowed to keep them apart.
Nhys Glover is an Australian born award-winning author of over 75 romance novels. She is known for blending heart, heat, and a touch of the extraordinary in her stories. From time-traveling lovers to soul-deep polyamory connections, her work explores love in all its transformational forms. Now living in Durham County UK, Nhys draws on her background in teaching and spiritual inquiry for inspiration in her writing. As she sits at her desk, staring out at the windy moors, she often reflects on what it means to stay human in an increasingly digital world. It is, after all, the subject of her newest book, a non-fiction called Authenticity, as Taught by a Machine. But no matter the genre, Nhys is always chasing one thing: the truth at the heart of every story.
I debated about this rating for quite a while. The writing is good; I've read better but I've also read so much worse and it did keep me interested the whole time. It annoys me a little that the reader and the other characters find out about the FMC's trauma at the very beginning of the book since that's not normally the natural progression of how these things go. And there's always at least one of the Danans who's all, "Ew, gross, a podmate." And then he gets over it in 2 pages, same with the FMC of the last 2 books. Am I going to read the next one? Probably, but it's not first on my TBR.
I started to read this series full of hope because I love sci-fi and Menages/RH. Book #1 got 4*… book #2 got 3*… this one? 1* and only because even if I skipped many paragraphs I read up to the epilogue.
So cons? The annoying selfish heroine who think her decisions are best, doesn’t care about anybody else but herself even if she says she loves her pod (aka 5 guys). Half of the book is no no no we are too young, don’t wanna settle with one mate, want my freeeeedom She left earth and had no regrets to leave her pets, 3 dogs, 2 cats. 2 dogs sleeping on her bed, 1 dog with her puppy very sick. Nope. Totally unlovable heroine. She left behind a dying foster parent and his wife. Called her “granddaughter”. Spent 3 years with them. Didn’t care. Made excuses saying she shouldn’t be sad as she spent 3 years with them. She recovers memories out of nowhere. She takes decisions as if she knows everything. She acts like a Queen with little consideration about what other think. Danger? Who cares! Inconsistencies all over the place Males characters are not lovable mostly because the author didn’t make them lovable enough. Sex scenes are nothing special. A lot of situations weren’t developed sadly.
Pros? Don’t see much, honestly. Plot maybe? Not enough developed in regards of villains but still interesting.
I am beyond disappointed. This author wrote a fiction and she could have found ways to have her pets with her and her foster have some alien médecin. After all, she created those géant ants monsters, she could find better ideas than trashing pets and elderly fosters behind her.
Blah.

28 March 2019 Format: Kindle Edition The third book in the Danan series! Once again, Nhys Glover manages to use the Danan world in a totally different way! Jade was a street kid who was picked up by the Lyations. Rescued at the same time as Savannah in Escape, Jade is only 15 when she meets a young Pod who are only 20. This Pod is part of a diplomatic family and they are too young to find their mate! They have another 10 years before that is necessary. So Jade is returned to Earth with her memory wiped and where she finds herself fostered to an older couple who run an animal rescue shelter. She wonders, sometimes, at the strange dreams that she has of large, multi coloured men! Her Pod only realise when she is gone that she is their mate! Once Danan males have met their Podmate they cannot look at another female, and cannot live long away from her. They realise that they are in a lot of trouble but have no idea of the consequences that will come of their rebellion! Once again, Nhys Glover writes a beautiful story full of emotion, romance and action! This is a Reverse Harem story.
Here we have the debate nature vs nurture and the fact that you can hate somebody and still lust over him. She is young, had a really bad life on earth, has been sexually abused and she meets these young boys and none of them wanted to admit the pull between them. They get separated regardless and she has her memory wiped. She gets attached on Earth again and they save her. It's a good book.
I liked how things wrapped up with the storyline about the original kidnapping.
This heroine, while quite young when we first met her 2 books ago, was mature when the romance happened. She is a bright, loving, warm person who is a great match with her pod of Danan men.
I enjoyed how much they talked about how they felt and what changes they each had that led them to love.
I really love these books. I was worried that they would be formulaic or lose the magic of the world, but each book is amazing. The author continues to lead us to explore more of the culture and civilizations, and continues to add more detail to this universe.
