Killers: History’s Missing Alcoholics

Rate this book
Killers, the latest book in the highly interesting History’s Missing Alcoholics series by Haley Scott. The safest way to avoid a rapist or serial killer is to recognize an alcoholic. The F.B.I. believes there may be as many as 500 serial killers on the loose in America. Many of them - perhaps most - are alcoholics. The U.S. Justice Department surveyed 12,000 prisoners and determined that about 60 percent had been “very drunk” just before committing their crimes. “Rapists and assaulters were most apt to be drinking immediately before their crime...”Thirty murderers who were arrested immediately following their crime had their urine alcohol level tested. The testers found alcohol in 83 percent of the cases. The only psychological disorders found more frequently among criminal offenders than in the general population were alcoholism and drug dependency.A fascinating and fast read!
