A feel good laugh out loud romantic comedy set in Andalucia, and New York.
The love life of Charlie and Mercedes continues.
After winning the Baile de Alcázar in Seville, Mercedes and Charlie set off on their flamenco tour of Andalucia through Cadiz, Jerez, Vejer de la Frontera, Malaga, and even Gibraltar.
Charlie can’t wait to travel and show Mercedes the world. He’s desperate to leave Seville. He's sick of the intense summer heat, and knows deep down that if their relationship is going to work, they have to get away from Francisco, his cruel father-in-law, who drove his own sister out of Seville because she fell in love with a Gypsy (a small fact that Charlie knows, and Mercedes doesn’t).
Just before they leave, after an evening watching a live bullfight, Francisco makes it clear he'd rather Mercedes marry a butch Spanish matador than a foolish British flamenco guitarist. After tricking Charlie into eating bull's balls, Francisco threatens that he’ll be watching them on their trip.
Deep down Mercedes doesn't want to leave Seville. She's a Sevillana at heart and will miss her family and best friend Lola. She’s not up for being managed by unknown men in dodgy tablaos either, but Charlie has his heart set on seeing Andalucia, and because she loves him, she goes along with it.
Trouble hits immediately in Cadiz. Their first manager Alvaro is only interested in Charlie and makes Mercedes’ life a misery. On the sly, he offers Charlie a chance to play flamenco in New York, which, unfortunately for Mercedes, he actually considers.
Mercedes can tell Charlie is off when they get to Jerez, so she retaliates by flirting with Pepe, a swanky, arrogant sherry tour guide, which throws a huge spanner in the works and leaves Charlie wondering if they want the same things.
They row.
Words are said.
Tears are shed.
Their relationship faces a crucial test.
Will Charlie accept Alvaro's lucrative offer and go to New York?
Will Mercedes return to Seville or continue the tour alone to find out some dark truths?

Wow, this is even better than Falling for Flamenco. I've just got back from a trip round Andalucía, and while I was there I read this book by Barry and found it witty, amusing and extremely addictive.
We have Charlie, who is determined to travel the world and become a famous flamenco guitarrista. His love, Mercedes, a flamenco dance is not all that keen though, especially because she'll miss her home, Sevilla.
I really loved following their trip, and relationship and loved the parts in New York.
