The two most important rules of the Lockhart vampire coven: Don’t feed directly from humans, and don’t become intimate with mortals. After a lust-filled night, and a deadly mistake, Everett Walker knows he can’t afford to turn another mortal. Now, over a century later, he’s ready to try his hand at love again. But things are different in this digital age as he discovers Ella Wilkinson online. Beautiful and strong-willed, she’s the mortal temptation he can’t possibly resist.
Worried about getting hurt again, Ella Wilkinson is hesitant when Everett Walker pops up on the dating site she recently signed up for. Seemingly-perfect and devastatingly handsome, she decides to reach out, despite the warning signs telling her he’s too good to be true. Little does she know Everett is hiding a dark secret that will forever change the trajectory of her life.
When the two fundamentally different worlds collide, can everlasting love survive?

The was a great story with a wonderful story line but it did become a little weighty at times
This story has a great foundation, and I’m sure most people will like it just fine. However, it would be a 5-star book if the dialogue and storyline progression were further developed and all of the inconsistencies addressed.

The first book in the Somerset series. Vampire Everett falls for a human, Ella, but his coven leader is against any kind of interaction with humans except as blood donors. A sweet little romance mixed into some intense vampire politics. I liked this!

I thought the story started out good but sagged a little in the middle. It picked up and finished nicely. Overall the writing was quite good. Good solid plot.

This is an interesting story that started quick, slowed in the middle and picks back up again in the end. I felt it lacked something in the dialogue at times but overall it's a good read.

Finished this in a morning, would've finished in an hour or so, but, life... Anyways, it was a quick read. Short love story between Everett and Ella. If you're looking for something quick in between reads then give this a go.
This was a short enjoyable read. The world building and power dynamics of the vampire world was easy to follow. The romance was insta love which is a bit of a peeve of mine but it was also well done. I still have a hard time imagining a relationship where you would sacrifice so much for someone you’ve met less than a handful of times but I know many people who love that. I liked the dating app idea because I feel like many people can relate to that now. I don’t know how I feel about the characters. On one hand Everett seems like a really upstanding guy then the more things you find out about his past it seems like he makes a lot of bad, lust driven decisions. It makes you question the insta-connections merit. I did like Ella. Even more than Natalie from the Sweetest love series. Overall I’m giving 4 stars because I know a lot of people do love an insta-love book and this quick read will deliver nicely. I just wish there was a bit more of conversation and connection to build from. Even if it meant glossing over a few dates with a time leap to save pages. That’s a personal preference tho so it will not affect my rating.
