When Alana isn't writing, it's likely that she's on the floor wrestling with her kids. Or playing outside with her kids. Or chauffeuring her kids. Or trying some random science experiment with her kids. But she's probably not cooking or cleaning.
Alana is a homeschooling mother of three who loves to write, hates to cook, and enjoys reading a good book almost as much as she enjoys writing one.
Alana won the Women of Faith writing contest for "The Beloved Daughter," her debut inspirational novel. "What, No Sushi?" is Alana's first book in a chapter-book series for kids published by Do Life Right, Inc.
So, I was browsing the Hoopla app, and looking in the Christian suspense section, when I came across the Alaskan Refuge trilogy by Alana Terry. I've been reading "inspirational" novels for years, but, I'd never heard of the author nor the series.
I decided to give it a whirl, and I had a blast with it; it was a crazy adventure with plenty of twists and turns. While the protagonist/narrator may not have been the best Christian, her reaction to dire circumstances and tragedy were understandable, and her issues were a perfect example of the demons everyone faces in life.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I love clean romantic suspense or adventure set in Alaska and this one delivered in spades!
I’ve always been curious about witness protection and how those in the program feel about and deal with giving up everything because of someone else’s choice. I’ve often pondered the very situation that author Alana Terry explores.
When Lacy LIndgren arrives in Glennallen, Alaska (population 400) it’s not by choice. It’s not her choice either to agree to employment in childcare. Lacy is there as a result of a bad choice. Not her choice, either. She’s been enrolled in the Witness Protection Program and relocated to Alaska. She’s had to give up everything. As the story progresses and we discover why she’s there, we can see that even four years later, she’s still a mess. She’s still grieving her boyfriend and her/their lost life as much as she’s still wishing she could be ‘Lacy’.
Terry pulled me in different directions and my allegiance changed as I learned more of Lacy’s backstory. Next time I whine about life not being fair or about having to change or make a new start, I’ll remember Lacy. I know NOTHING about giving up to move on.
I loved the fast pace, the sense of the unknown and how Terry chose to wrap up the story. I’ve added this new-to-me author to my auto-read list.
Talk about being bored with your life, and being careful what you wish for, will it be safe, or living on the edge? The author gives us a young woman who has been living in a small town in Alaska, with a bit of emphasis on the size and abundance of mosquitos, and has been placed in witness protection. We begin with a man who is head over heels for our girl, but can she continue to live in the safe world? You will never see all that is coming here, the author places on a roller coaster, and where we end you end up may be over a cliff! I sure didn’t see the ending this story has, wow! Talk about surprises! This one will keep you on your toes!
I received this book through Celebrate Lit, and was not required to give a positive review.
I was really disappointed in this book. The main character, though she had admittedly been through some tough situations, comes across as selfish and whiny, particularly with those who are doing the most to help her. The characters weren’t fleshed out and the circumstances were a bit far fetched.
Witness Protection. New identity. Living in Alaska. Not knowing if the love of your life is dead or alive. These are the things that Jo, aka Lacey, is dealing with. She witnesses a murder and testified at the trial of two men who were incarcerated. Why does she still have to remain in hiding? She hates Alaska, the cold, the mosquitoes, the low paying job and more. Is it time to return home and let the chips fall where they may? What about Kurtis, the man who has just proposed to her?
This was a well-written, relatively short story that starts off with a proposal and never lets up. There is so much happening in Jo/Lacey's life that I can't begin to imagine everything going through her mind. She thinks she is in love, but with who? She wants to go home, but is it safe? What is next for her? I don't want to give away the story, but suffice it to say, Jo/Lacey has some tough decisions to make. Will she be able to listen to God and follow his plans for her? How will she know what he wants her to do? Kurtis, the man she has been dating in Alaska is a single father who is too good to be true. He loves her and wants to marry her, but is willing to wait for her to figure things out. He is even willing to walk away if that is what she needs him to do. I wanted to meet this man and then sit her down and convince her to marry him. Overall this is a faith based, action suspense story that was enjoyable to read. I recommend it to those who like Contemporary Christian Fiction. I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit tours. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
If You Want to be Bored, Don’t Read This Book! Set in a small town in rural Alaska, Identity Theft offers everything that excellent suspense novels should—uncertainty, secrets, twists, turns, and double red herrings.
See, that’s something some suspense authors miss—as if red herrings are only for classic mysteries. They’re not. Any misdirection is a chance to ramp up the tension and increase suspense. Terry manages to do both and do them well.
At first, I didn’t connect with Jo/Lacie at all. It concerned me, but it shouldn’t have. Lacie wasn’t connecting with her Joishness, so why should we? It’s either accidental or pure brilliance. I suspect the latter. Never has a character felt so one-dimensional in the beginning and grown to be such a multi-layered one by the end.
Terry also layered detail and description in judicious amounts. Never did I feel burdened by either of them. Instead, in a stroke of genius, she chose just a few minor things that are a constant presence in that area and kept them in our minds. We couldn’t help but feel we were there, swatting at mosquitoes with the rest of them.
The spiritual element in Identity Theft was unusually demonstrated and realistic. Even places where I’d usually feel like it was a bit trite or cliched—were that way for a reason. That takes serious skills. Terry didn’t overdo it or understate it. She made a new believer behave like one, lifelong believers behave like it, and the skeptical… act skeptical! Shocker!
Get this. Even the end was convenient. It was. But honestly… it needed to be. There absolutely was no other way to ensure both a satisfying ending and one that fit the plot. Every other choice would have been unsatisfying, no matter how realistic.
If I want realism, I’ll stick to the evening news. Meanwhile, Identity Theft was as realistic as could be within the constraints of the story, and that is all anyone can ask for. I'm so glad I requested and received a free review copy. I'll be buying the rest of the series now.
Brilliantly written, fast-paced, plenty of twists and turns to keep you engaged, and a soft but impactful spiritual element—what more could you ask for from Christian fiction?
I absolutely LOVED this book! I started it yesterday, and I finished it last night! I couldn't put this down. I don't know how Alana Terry does it, but she is one of those authors who draw you into her novels from the very beginning. Then you feel like you are in the book and one of her characters!
This book revolves around a young lady named Lacey. She has a secret and feels like she must leave town. Even though, she makes a lot of wrong turns, you can't help but feel sorry for this character. I love how there were twists and turns in this book, and there were parts that had me guessing until the very end!
I definitely recommend this book. It has suspense with a little romance thrown in, all while being extremely clean! These are my favorite kinds of books!
I received this book from the author for my honest opinion.
This is a fast paced, but unfortunately rather short story.
Full of action, suspense, and lots of unknowns.
The main character is introduced as Lacy, but then she's called Jo. It's a bit confusing, and it took me some time to figure it out, as we aren't really told much of her story at all, it just comes out in bits and pieces.
The story line is interesting, I only wish that the story would have been longer, and had a bit more details.
I'm not sure I really liked Lacy. She was indecisive...constantly changing her mind, whining, and all of that. But, to be fair, she was in a very difficult spot in life.
I did enjoy seeing the action play out, and I had no idea how it would all work out for her. The ending was great, but took me by surprise.

This is the second book by this author that I've read, I was drawn in from the first page and couldn't wait to see what would happen next! I loved the small-town Alaska summer setting, I always find it neat to read stories that feature the midnight sun! I loved Lacy and Kurtis, and little Madeline was just so adorable! I loved Lacy's faith journey and it was exactly the message that I needed at this moment in my life. The suspense in this book was great and kept me flipping pages! And I especially adored the ending, it totally made me melt and put the biggest smile on my face! Identity Theft is a quick read that I enjoyed from beginning to end! I am so glad I read Identity Theft and highly recommend it to fans of Christian suspense. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future! (4 Stars!)
I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
Not a good read.....girl was so inmature and books like this always end with God doing just want they prayed or wanted....life just doens't work that way.....wouldn't recommend
A very interesting Christian book! I read it straight through... I wanted to know how it ended! This was my 1st Alana Terry Book, but it won't be my last!! I enjoyed the audio book! Expertly read! I
Reading books from this author always helps me draw closer to God. She writes stories that have great lessons and scriptures that enhance the story. This story was an easy and quick read. I enjoyed the suspense and learned so much about the Witness Protection Program. I can't imagine having to give up everything that identifies you and starting over.
Lacy happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time with her boyfriend several years ago. They witness something that puts them both in danger. Lacy is whisked away to Alaska to start a new life. She is cut off from her family and friends. She often wonders about her boyfriend. Did she really see him die that fateful day? How long will she have to pretend to be Jo?
I learned a lot of interesting things about Alaska in the book. One of the intriguing things was the abundance of mosquitoes they have. I never thought about them having a mosquito problem. In Texas where I live, mosquitoes take over neighborhoods. Someday I would like to visit Alaska and see the snow and beautiful landscape.
Two people really stand out in this story. One of them is Kurtis who is a state trooper. He becomes involved with Lacy and they develop a nice relationship. Things seem to be moving forward but Lacy can't seem to let go of her feelings for her boyfriend. Will Kurtis be able to help her feel secure? Can she learn to trust a man who loves her and knows that God will protect them?
The other important person in the story is Sandy who is Lacy's foster mother. The love and compassion she has for Lacy is so special . She speaks words of wisdom to her and tries to get her to let go of the past. I loved when Sandy said to Lacy, " I always like to picture my tears are the rain that's gonna water the flowers God's sending my way? What a beautiful way to express how God heals us and shows us a new beginning.
The suspense in the book is good and I did figure out most of it, but it was still fun to read how the author puts twists in there and keeps the action going. The story reminds me to be thankful for my family and to remember that "God has a plan for our lives." He will always be there to protect us.
I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
My Thoughts on Identity Theft: Wow. Great book. The first book I’ve read by this author but I cannot wait for the next two titles in this series to be released! Great writing that draws you in. Definitely some little bits of didn’t see that coming but also some spots of totally knew that was gonna happen.
Highly recommend this book. It’s a mystery, suspense, even a few murders going on here, type of book that is a fast read. It did not take me long to get through the book. Written in a way that you’re not having to stop and think. It flows and keeps you involved so you’re not confused as to which character is which or what just happened.
This book made me think about my life a bit. What do I consider important? At first, while reading this book I was curious why the title. It didn’t make sense to me. No one stole her ID, they weren’t going around impersonating her.
And then it hit me.
Identity Theft. Her identity as herself, as her own person, having the ability to choose her own fate has been taken from her. But was it ever really hers to begin with?
I enjoyed watching Jo or Lacy or whatever you want to call her to develop from a bit of a shallow character into finding who she truly was both in her thinking and in her walk with God.
How can she move forward into her future or be present in the present when she can’t come to terms with her past?
Also enjoyed the thinking and rationalizing between the two men in her life and loved the ending!
I recommend this book. It’s a fast read and keeps you engaged. There is violence in the story but nothing elaborate or that is going to give someone nightmares. No reason to not read this book at night.

*3.5 stars Identity Theft was a fast-paced page turner with mystery lurking around every corner! I read it on my kindle but according to Goodreads it's only 137 pages long. This means it's a shorter read that's safer on the bedtime should you choose to read it in one sitting--because don't we all struggle with that??
Although I savored the fast pace of this book, I have to say I wish it were longer to give more development to Lacy's past and the events that led to her current circumstances. The suspense was high but the depth felt lacking. I also struggled with a piece that I'm afraid to discuss in my review for fear of spoiling. I think the safest I can say it is that the voice of Christianity in this book really needed to come from a different character for multiple reasons.
Even though I wished it were longer, the action in this book held me captive with the pages essentially turning themselves. My mind was reeling as I tried to fit all of the puzzle pieces together ahead of Lacy. When it seemed like there was a moment of calm, something else would happen to kick the action back into high-gear. There was truly no safe place to set the book down! After I finished reading I was hoping that there would be more to her story later in the series but it looks like each book is a complete standalone. I have the other two books in the series that I'll be reading very soon so I'm anxious to see how they compare to this one and if there are any character connections between them.
Overall I enjoyed this read and would recommend to suspense fans. I look forward to reading more from the author in the near future.
*I received a copy of this book through CelebrateLit. Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.
Extremely predictable. Nothing much really happens either. I honestly feel like I read a different book than the other reviewers. So many of the reviews say “fast paced” “suspenseful” and “lots of twists and turns”. Um no. None of that. It did read fast, but only because the writing was so simple and the book was so short.
I was expecting a suspense thriller, but instead it was more of an internal whiny monologue as this gal tried to decide between Mr. Perfect For Her and Mr. Obviously A Criminal (neither of which she really had chemistry with). The actual mystery part was barely mentioned and was not even fully explained in the end.
This is an amazing book about finding out who you are! This girl went through hardships and had many mistakes. She in the end became a fervent Christian and I hope she made it further with her love. This is a fictional book and I couldn’t find it free anywhere so I listen to the book on tape. It’s very clean nothing inappropriate except a few kisses. Christ and Christianity isn’t a huge part of this book until the end, however it’s a very exciting and engaging story!! I couldn’t put it down until the end.
Lacy testified against some bad people. She thought her boyfriend had been killed. She had to go into Witness Protection. 4 years of her life in Alaska. When the boyfriend showed up in Alaska alive, Lacy had some thinking to do as she was almost killed by mobsters. Bad things happen even to Christians.
All this girl does is complain. I’m serious. It’s obnoxious. She finally acknowledges it toward the end of the book, so yay for character development, I guess? But still, I had to put up with her whining through this whole story and I’m salty about it.
This girl is also dumb as a rock sometimes. Case and point: - Car is running low on oil? I think I’ll go on a 4 hour drive through the literal wildness with no cell service. Surely my engine won’t seize and leave me stranded. - Ex boyfriend shows up unannounced IN MY HOUSE and tells me that he found me in the middle of rural Alaska by coincidence? Sure, that’s believable. - and my personal favorite, one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard - I’m in WITSEC because the literal Mafia is after me and my placement officer tells me to lock my doors? Nah, I won’t. I’ll leave all my doors unlocked. It’s my own personal rebellion. Take that, horrible law enforcement officer who’s trying to keep me alive. I’m sure that won’t come back to bite me.
I kept expecting the action and tension in this book to pick up. Except for the car ride to Anchorage, it never really did. This story was more lackluster love triangle where the girl never really picked a guy, she just waited long enough until (spoiler! One of them dies.) This girl hardly makes any choices in her life. All the people around her (mostly men) make them for her. Ick.
Apparently she’s 4 years removed from 2 years of community college, so I’m guessing she’s 24 years old, minimum. I’m not used to this much immaturity and straight up stupidity from characters older than teenagers.
Also, the mom. That woman drove me nuts. She was constantly preaching to Lacey and telling her what to do, which I guess Lacey kind of needed, since she was incapable of making decisions for herself. And the interracial marriage story? Felt extremely out of place here. Like it was thrown in for brownie points. The story seemed designed/told to garner more sympathy for the white woman experiencing judgement for marrying a Black man, not the Black man suffering at the hands of racists. Made me uncomfortable.

My review today is on the Christian Romantic Suspense, Identity Theft. I was asked to read this book but the review is my own. This story is well written yet full of twists and turns. Faith is woven throughout the book as a fine tapestry. I know you are going to love it.
Lacy is having a good bye dinner with her boyfriend Kurtis. She feels she must break up with him. The relationship is getting to involved. Lacy is in Witness Protection, she can't get close to anyone. After all Kurtis doesn't even know who she really is. Four years ago she witnessed a murder with her true love. They ended up in an accident and he was killed; now she is in hiding. She tells him she must break up with him. He tells her he bought a ring and wants to marry her. After he leaves she walks to the ice cream shop where she sees a man that looks like Raphael, her lost love. Kurtis and his daughter come to the shop, confused she says she'll marry him, and he drives her home. Raphael is waiting for her when she gets home. Now she is really confused.
Widower Kurtis is a State Trooper. He has figured out that Jo isn't who she says she is. He contacted her foster parents to ask for her hand in marriage. He knows she must be in Witness Protection. He knows she still has feelings for the man she lost. He urges her not to rush in to marriage with him until her heart is whole. Suddenly she tells him she is leaving. She calls to ask him to help her with her car when it breaks down on her trip out of there. When he gets there she's gone and her car has been tampered with. Where is she? Can he save her?
A confusing journey as the two men she cares about both are wanting her to marry them; while her handler is trying to move her again. God has a plan for her; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Give Him your heart, make Him Lord, and watch Him move in your life.
I have to say that I have enjoyed Alana's books in the past so had high expectations of this new one. There was no disappointment. Although the plot starts off at a slow pace and there has to be some thought as to who and what the characters are up to, once that is done, there is constant suspense and action to keep the reader involved in this book. I must admit that once my attention was spiked, I could not put it down.
The characters didn't take long to grow into my friends. They were realistic and well described. Lacy was one confused young lady who had a BIG secret, one that I can not imagine ever having! How she dealt with it, was a dangerous, frightening way. This situation had me wanting to give her a big hug as well as shake her to make her think! However, I also kept wondering how I would ever survive in a similar situation. Living with frightening secrets would be such a horrible experience.
The plot once it gets going. moves at a quick pace with surprising and unexpected events appearing just when you think things are going as they should. My heart was in my throat at Lacy attempted to escape the situation. The setting in rural Alaska was perfect for this story full of suspense.
There is an underlying Christian message throughout this book, one that makes the reader think deeply. Events which seem unbelievable and so frightening, happen for a reason, in God's timing. We as humans, don't always understand the wheres and the whys but we need to learn that that is NOT important. He has us in the palm of His hand at all times.
A great story full of suspense , love and deep fear!
This book was given to me. A positive review was not required. The thoughts and opinions expressed are honest and my own.
"Identity Theft" is a fast-paced thriller in a rural small town in Alaska.
Several years ago, Lacy and her boyfriend, Raphael, ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lacy went from almost being engaged and working towards moving with Raphael to New York to pursue an acting career on Broadway. Now, Lacy has to start a new life in Alaska being cut off from Raphael, her family, and friends. She has to pretend she is Jo. Did she see him die?
She is now stuck being Jo working at a daycare. She meets Kurtis, a state trooper, from the daycare when he picks up his daughter. They become involved with Lacy and they develop a relationship, but still can't help to think about Raphael. Jo hasn't told Kurtis about her past.
Sandy, Lacy's foster mother, is full of love and compassion. Their relationship is so beautiful. Sandy has so many words of wisdom. She is trying to help Lacy move on from the past and focus on the future.
Lacy was living in so much anger. She stopped turning to God. Through the book, we see how Lacy learns to trust God again and move away from being so angry and bitter.
Alana Terry did an excellent just writing a suspense novel. It is full of secrets, twists, turns, and uncertainty. It has a nice impactful spiritual element that isn't over the top and preachy. Everything that happens in the book felt like it actually happened. However, it is a complex story. It started about four years earlier in Massachusetts.
I learned a lot about the Witness Protection Program from "Identity Theft." This story was very hard to put down. There were many lessons and scriptures throughout the story. I highly recommend reading this book.
I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. This review is my honest own opinion.
Identity Theft, Termination Dust, and Frost Heaves by Alana Terry were suspenseful quick reads. The three books make up Terry’s Alaskan Refuge series set in rural Alaska. Since each book tells its own story, reading them in a particular order is not necessary.
In Identity Theft, several years prior, Lacy and her boyfriend are at the wrong place at the wrong time. They witness something that puts them in danger. Lacy is taken to Alaska to start a new life. She is to have no contact with her family and friends. She often wonders about her boyfriend. Did she really see him die, or could he still be alive?
In Termination Dust, Kimmie, her mother, and brother are trying to make the best of their lives under the control of her abusive stepfather. When Kimmie’s mother unexpectedly commits suicide, Kimmie is determined to do whatever it takes to keep her brother safe.
In Frost Heaves, Jade and her family left a cult a few years back after Jade became pregnant with her daughter Dez. When Dez disappears, Jade must look back at her life with the cult to consider if any cult members may be responsible.
All three books were very good, but my favorite was Termination Dust. These were the first Alana Terry books I read, and I’ll certainly be looking to read more of her books.
Availability: Book Rating: **** Stars (I really liked it) Reviewer: Crystal, Branch Librarian
"Identity Theft " by Alana Terry is a quick, easy to read novel. It is just right if a reader just wants a book that can be read in a short amount of time. It is also the first in a series of three standalone novels.
Lacy is hiding from her past, but it is about to become unhidden. There is a little bit of suspension but I didn't really find it to be on the edge of my seat and holding my breath type of book. Which was okay because sometimes a reader just wants to follow a story and not have their hearts beating fast but just be able to relax and read. Yes, the book has an event that could be a heart racing experience for some readers but maybe I have read so many accounts of events like this that I kind of knew what would happen. Ok, I have to say I was really hoping that the characters that was involved in this event didn't suffer too much, and I wish I could tell if that was the case or not, but I won't, because I know you don't want me to spoil the fun you can have reading this book for yourself.
I think the best part of this book is the ending which I believe most readers will agreed with me. I think this is because it is something most of us would not think of happening.
"Identity Theft" is a good read but I would have to say it isn't my favorite Alana Terry story.
I received a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this story. Author Alana Terry writes an amazing fast paced thriller that I read in a few hours! Once I started, I didnt want to put the book down. Lacy was a young lady that had her life planned out, until she was forced into the witness protection program and was now living in a place she hated with a job she didnt like because it really degraded her. The characters here in the story were well crafted and they developed so well as the story unfolded. I love books that grab my attention from the beginning, and this book did just that. Thriller is the best word to describe this story, it takes you on an exciting journey that you can’t stop reading until the last page!
The author did a great job describing Jo’s emotions. Everything in her life changed, she didnt have her family, she started over, and as I was reading her story, I thought about that happening to me, and it’s something I don’t even want to think about.
If you enjoy thrillers that are really fast paced, this is the story for you! It’s a good clean story that you will remember for a while.

Identity Theft is the first Alana Terry book I've read, or, in this case, listened to. It is also the first audiobook I've finished in its entirety. I learned a few things from the experience. Unless meant to be a comedy, I am not a fan of a narrator altering her voice when reading characters of the opposite sex. The experience was off-putting.
As much as I wanted to root for Lacy/Jo, and almost succeeded, she was too immature for me to sympathize with much of her plight. In fact, when I realized how old the character was intended to be, I was shocked. What did me in was the line about the movie. The emotional depth I'd given Lacy credit for at that point washed away.
The story was marginally suspenseful. Portions of the audiobook here and there struck a chord with me, made me laugh, or engaged me in some way. Unfortunately, they were few and far between. Identity Theft contained too much interiority for my taste, so much so that I wondered if the story would've been better served had it been written in first person. Regardless, it seemed as though a third of the book could've been eliminated, the plot tightened, and the book released as a novella.
I may give Alana Terry another try at some point in the future. Hopefully I will find the next characters better developed and get to spend more time outside their heads.
She imagined Alaska would be the perfect place to hide. She found out it’s the most dangerous place to be found … Lacy has a secret. A secret nobody knows — not even her fiancé. A secret that would cost her life … and so much more. So it’s a good thing she’s tucked away in the very heart of rural Alaska, where for once in her life she is finally safe. But can she stay that way for long? Suspenseful, thrilling, and impossible to put down, Identity Theft is an unforgettable novel by bestselling Christian author Alana Terry.
Buy your copy today … but be prepared to stay up late!
My Thoughts: What would you do if you had your identity changed? Starting a new life with a new identity? What if your old life came crashing in on your new life? This is what Jo aka Lacy was dealing with as she tried to get on with life after being in a witness protection program. This is a great suspense novel that will keep you reading until the very end. You can't put this one down. It's not a long novel, but it is a worthwhile read. Alana Terry has a way with writing that hooks the reader right from the beginning of the story. Full of suspense, true to life the reader will be entertained throughout the story.
I got hooked on Alana Terry's books several years ago when I read her first North Korean book, Beloved Daughter. It's been awhile since then and in recent years I've mostly been reading her Kennedy Stern Christian Suspense series where she took on controversial subjects with grace and grit.
Enter Identity Theft in the Alaskan Refuge Christian Suspense series. I've really been looking forward to the series as I know the author's own residence in Alaska adds a rare authenticity to the fine details.
Identity Theft is more of a traditional romantic suspense than Alana Terry's previous book, which, was something I really enjoyed. It was fun seeing her ace yet another genre. The book was a quick read, I was actually surprised at how quickly I breezed through it, perfect for a boring afternoon or quiet evening.
Loved the characters and trying to guess the motivation behind some of their actions. So, if you are in the mood for an easy to read romantic suspense novel set in remote Alaska, well, may I suggest Alana Terry's exciting Identity Theft...
(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Identify Theft is a short, fast-paced novella but Alana Terry packs a lot into it. Mystery, suspense, and romance all find their way into the plot. I found myself crying at times - I never really thought about the impact of being in the witness protection program. What a traumatic experience - being safe doesn’t always bring comfort when you have to give up your past. Lacy/Jo learns to rely on God for her future but it takes the whole book. It amazes me what God will do to bring us to him. Alana Terry knows how to create suspense with twists and turns in the plot and emotional ups and downs for the main character. Without giving anything away - I found the ending very satisfying which I wasn’t sure was going to happen until the final chapter.
If you are looking for a short book and enjoy suspense, I recommend you check out Identity Theft and other titles by Alana Terry.
I would not hesitate to add Identity Theft to my K-12 Christian school library. I think some of my high schoolers and maybe some faculty would love it.
I want to thank Celebrate Lit for the complimentary e-copy of Identity Theft.
