Dirtshine #3

Ever After

Rate this book
Once upon a time, a girl saved my life.

I was p*ss-drunk, high as a kite, and about to jump from a bridge.

She stopped me. I told her to f*ck off.

Exactly how all great love stories start.

A year later, I met her again. Sober this time, after yet another stint in rehab.

She’s still pretty, still a spitfire, still lights up a room when she walks in.

And she doesn’t realize I’m the guy from the bridge.

Frankie doesn’t know anything about me or my past. She doesn’t know I’m a former rock star or an ex-junkie.

She doesn’t know that two years ago, someone died and it was my fault.

She doesn’t need to know. She’s got problems of her own, and they’re what keep her coming back to see me time and again, even when we both know she shouldn’t.

I should be staying far, far away from this girl, but it’s like telling water to flow uphill. Can’t be done.

Frankie and I may be going down in flames, but we’ll be going down together.

Ever After is a full-length, standalone novel.

This book was incredible. I love how fated Liam and Frankie were in this book. The way they kept meeting each other long before it was time for them to be. And Liam struggling with his reovery from Heroine. Being there through it with him and seeing how Frankie, even as a stranger, was one of the reasons he was able to recover. This is a couple you are going to want to read about.

I have book one in this series and I’m kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I don’t have knowledge of Liam in full blown addiction. In a way, I’m kind of glad because I didn’t have any negative feelings for him in this book. But the alternative would be seeing him in his full journey. Either way, you can’t go wrong. You can read this as a standalone or start from the beginning.

I’m really impressed with this authors writing. Everything I’ve picked up from her has really taken me by surprise. She just has a natural ability to take ordinary characters and make them extraordinarily. I really can’t wait for what she brings us next!

Sometimes hitting rock bottom isn’t enough. Sometimes, you have to hit it again and again and again. Liam was at one of those bottoms the night he stared drunkenly, his body infused with drugs, at the oncoming train. He was angry and resentful when a passing car stopped and what followed foiled any plans he might not have realized he had.

A year later and he’s living a life in a nowhere place where there are no temptations. He’s just barely getting by with nothing but sheep to keep him company. The last thing he expected to find was temptation in the form of Frankie. Her wiggle and laugh, her snarky comments and dry wit enraptured him. The only thing stopping him from trying something with her was the huge diamond engagement ring.

Frankie is struggling to get along with her fiancee’s family. The titled English live by their own rules and she doesn’t fit into their ideal of suitable. After one particularly nasty evening she borrows an estate car and drives to the nearest pub. There she meets the rude and cocky Liam.

This was a deeply emotional read for me. It kept my stomach in knots throughout its entirety. And I loved every moment of it. This couple had a lot to work through, especially Liam, and I wasn’t sure how that was all going to play out. I absolutely loved both of these characters and anything less than a perfect happy ever after was not going to work for me. When they first meet their chemistry and banter grabbed me and pulled me immediately into the story ensuring that I fall in love with each of them. Together and separately.

While this was extremely angsty and dealt with topics I’m not a huge fan of, Liam will go down in history as my favorite Roxie Noir hero.

This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by the author but I purchased a copy as well.

Liam's Gift to Frankie

There is a certain edge to this entire "Dirtshine" series that not only entertains but also gives the reader pause to think about the weightier themes of addiction, recovery and personal issues that interfere with truly loving another person erotically, romantically and completely as we all wish for our hero and heroines in the books we love to read . It is much like "the edge", the knife of life's vicissitudes can visit upon a soul traveling through this earthly plane. We, romance readers though are a forgiving lot. We tend to appreciate brokenness and understand our characters varying capacities for loving.

In fact we pride ourselves in analyzing the characters presented to us and the author's imaginings of the source of their hero and/or heroine's failings. However, addiction to substances that steal one's sanity, motivation and concern for anyone or anything other than their chosen substance of death is one of the most bitter themes to present to the reader of the romance genre. That Ms. Noir deals with these themes boldly and in most respects, realistically is to her credit. As such, this is not a straight shot at a hot romance nor are some of the hotter scenes entirely comfortable...and there are some very, very hot scenes!!!

Liam is the seriously entrenched heroin addict rock star that just about lost everything. His story begins at yet, another, rock bottom. He is on a bridge contemplating jumping in front of a train below. Actually, he feels more like wanting to fly away to escape himself. It is at this drugged-up, messed-up point in his life that he first sees her. She is Frankie and she has the nerve to admonish him in his contemplation of deadly flight by reminding him that it would really would be such a bother for so many people to have to deal with the aftermath of his remains. Without knowing who she is or ever hoping to meet her again he holds on to her beautiful face as a talisman during his latest year-long attempt at coming clean.

Frankie is engaged to an English Earl to be and she is visiting his family in Northern England where they rule all the townsfolk in the area through money, old English influence and tradition. They are however subtly and sometimes overtly disapproving of their "Alistair's" fiance from New Jersey. Frankie notices, more and more, the domineering, manipulative and insincere traits of her husband-to-be. She is overwhelmed by this stodgy and actually hostile family despite the grandeur of their home and her accommodations there in England. She needs an escape from them and her uncomfortable feelings, so at night she sneaks out to the small local pub at the very edge of the property.

It is there that once again she sees Liam who is the bartender. She does not put together that he is the man whom she admonished on the bridge. Liam knows exactly who she is. It is at this point in the story that the dance of attraction between them begins no matter how much Frankie scolds herself in her attraction to another man while she is still engaged. As you can probably surmise, her engagement with the prig and bully, Alistair comes to an end. How it unfolds is truly an entertaining read.

What happens subsequently is some hot, hot hook-up sex between Liam and Frankie but underlying the whole episode is drunkenness. The reader is put in a peculiar position. Oh we do like hot sex and some of the drunken behavior is riotous...party hard and all that...but at the edge of our reading is this uncomfortable sensation that this isn't quite right.

There is so much more story to be told which spans the Atlantic ocean. Our hero and heroine, our Liam and Frankie learn important lessons. They learn about each other. There is a determination to reclaim their own persons...reclaim some of what may have been lost. The read only gets rock star fantasy hotter. The fantasy is all the more enjoyable because we have been through valley with both of them. The reality is that love does not save the day...but it is reason that recovery saves the day.

Recovery is a very personal lonely road but one's willingness to walk that road is a gift you give not only to yourself but to all of those who love and care for you. It is most precious to the one you chose and who chose you to be their partner in life. This gift reflected back to you in the gaze of your love is the reason for "joy" in the morning of the sorrowful dark night. I invite you to travel through the night in the words of this gritty honest and gifted writer and come feel the joy!

4.5 out of 5

Before I begin, I had a Very Stressful Night at work. I was working (from home) the 12 to 8 shift and as I work in health care, sometimes things can get tense. While on my (late) lunch I did something I never, ever, never do. I had a couple of Bailey’s & Coconut Rum drinks on ice. Do you know it actually tastes pretty good? And I’m so much less stressed now as compared to when I went to lunch. So yes, I’m (almost) drunk reviewing. So beware, there may be errors ahead.

Finally, we come to the final book in this series. Because the series has all been published, no waiting for it. Instant gratification when reading a series is a very good thing.
This is the story of Liam, the drug addicted drummer of Dirtshine who was kicked out of the band because his addiction to drugs got the ball rolling downhill. It opens with him on a bridge one night, still an addict, having lost everything, hating himself and ready to end things for good. But a voice and then a young woman comes out of the darkness appears and gets him to re-examine his life.

The book now starts a year later and Liam is clean and sober. He’s working as a bartender at some small bar in some small town in England. Although it’s strange he’s a bartender, his addiction of choice was drugs so he’s somewhat safe. He’s tending bar one night when some Yank comes in and much to his astonishment, it’s the same young woman who in essence saved his life and motivated him into treatment.
Frankie is a fascinating heroine. She’s engaged to some very upper crust British titled guy and they are spending time at his home so his family can get to know her better. But they are less than kind to her thinking she is so below their son/brother that she needs escape sometimes and finds this same bar where Liam bartends. He recognizes her right away but she has no idea who he is.

During this time his former band mates make tentative offers to Liam for forgiveness. He’s thrilled but he still despises himself for his former addiction and the tragic consequences. In the meantime, Frankie finally ‘sees’ that she and her fiancé say just aren’t compatible. So now Frankie is free, Liam is smitten and Frankie feels the attraction too.

This is such a great redemption story and it’s my favourite of the three books. We see Liam in the first book and he’s a mess and the reader doesn’t think there is any hope for him and he does some pretty despicable things. He still has a lot of work to do and he does have his failures. But he’s doing his best and he has Frankie in his corner. I found Frankie a bit naive but quite like her despite that. She’s good for Liam, therefore she’s good to me. I recommend this one and I probably will read it again. Since I’ve read these three books and thought they were great, I’ve since got a few other of her books to try.

This truly was one amazing book! Be prepared for some drama, sadness, and one hot romance! Both main characters just pull you into their love story as the author alternates their POV’s throughout chapters within the novel. Wow! This was one angsty story! There is some alcohol abuse, flashbacks of apparent drug abuse, and explicit sexual encounters within the pages. But, it all gets the reader hoping, when all is said and done, that this couple find their way back together. And, I must say the ending is epic! It couldn’t be more perfect! Loved Liam and Frankie! Their sexual chemistry and trivial banter was spot-on! Looking forward to reading more from this awesome author...

I think this was my favorite of the series - Frankie was great, and even though I normally don’t enjoy love triangles this one worked for me. (only thing is, it was hard to understand why she was with Alistair in the first place). Liam’s journey was moving too, and I loved the way they seemed fated to intersect.

A dead sexy, very steamy and deliciously romantic end to the Dirtshine series. (It must however be said that "Dirtshine" is a terrible name for a rock band.) I did not think Roxie could reform Liam, a smack addict who nearly broke up the band when he turned himself over to being a full time addict who played some music on the side. Along the way he procured heroin that killed a roadie and left him and his lifelong best friend/bandmate in comas. He maliciously destroyed property and relationships and ended up completely broke living in a coldwater shack in the wilds of Northern England. We witnessed all of this in the last two books, and though addiction is heartbreaking I at least ended up really pissed at him, and also quite certain that while relapse is part of the disease there is a certain moment in a junkie's life, enough relapses or the simple refusal to even meaningfully pursue treatment, where the chances of recovery are next to nothing. Me of little faith. Liam ends up better for his pain and it is not hokey in the least.

For the first 1/3 of this book I felt a strong Room with a View vibe (RIP Julian Sands.) Cecil and George were in da house though the delightful Frankie was more interesting than Lucy Honeychurch. But once , things definitely shifted and it became a loving and sexy redemption song. I am so glad Roxie Noir and I found each other! Also, the narrators of the audiobook, Mia Madison and Dustin Brash, killed it! They were both a ton of fun, and Brash's voice, a sort of low gravelly Geordie rasp, is sex on a stick, which is a real plus.

This is the story of the "lost boy" of Dirtshine. Liam exiled himself to the wilds of northern England to try and stay sober after numerous stints in rehab. In a sleepy village he tends bar at a pub.
In the manor house of the village, Francoise, or Frankie is staying as a guest at her fiancèes ancestral home. Absolutely out of her depth, the Jersey girl secretely flees to the pub for an occasional clandestine pint and chat with the locals.
While Liam and Frankie grow closer over time, the fiancèe turns out to be a real pr*ck.
And with threats and money being thrown around, things in the sleepy village explode.
When everything seems lost and the hope of finding each other dwindles , they have yet another miraculous meeting. And this time they are not letting go.
This is a steamy love story with a frighteningly accurate description of dependency. The inner dialog of Liam depicts the workings of an addicts mind and the logic that lets him fail again and again. Until.....

Well Dirtshine Series is done and Roxie Noir did not let me down. In my opinion she wrapped the series up very well. Roxie Noir in my opinion did a great job of writing Liam's struggle with addiction. For me I could feel his struggle. My complaint for this is I had a hard time believing how Frankie and Liam kept meeting. In my opinion it's the authors job to make me believe. In my opinion it fell a little short for believable. I loved how after leaving Frankie just kept trying to move forward with her life even though it was hard. I loved the way she left the fiancee. That was great. Even with Liam being an a**hole there was something likable about him. Not sure why but this book moved slow for me, I wish I understood why. I still loved the book and the concept, in my opinion it's a good story, just slow moving. I received an ARC edition for my honest and voluntary review.

I have read quite a few Roxie Noir novels over the years and I have to say Ever After did not disappoint one bit. It is the first novel I have read from the Dirtshine series and after finishing it, I am definitely planning on reading the rest of the series. I cannot wait to read the other two books in the series but for now, let's talk Ever After. After all, it's what brought us here. ;)

I have to admit that I struggled to get into Ever After at first, but it's not for the reason you are probably thinking. Let me explain.

The reason I struggled with Ever After so much in the beginning was because I was pissed at the protagonist AKA Frankie. Why you ask? Well, let's just put it this way, Frankie is engaged to a man who treats her like sh*t. Like literal dog sh*t. *sighs* It sounds horrible, I know, but sadly it's true.

Alistair, Frankie's fiancee, made me want to smack him more times than I can count because he was such a d0uchebag and did not stand up for her when he needed to. Despite that she put up with his crap when she clearly deserved better. It goes over her head in the beginning though and she doesn't see any of that, not when he belittles her and not when his family treats her like crap. Having to see her endure this was hard and just SO frustrating because I hated every moment she had to put up with her fiancee and his family. They were the absolute worst and made me want to yank my hair out. Literally.

The most frustrating part was seeing how perfect Liam was for her and knowing that there was a spark between them that she didn't even have with her fiancee of three years, yet she had it with Liam, a man she hardly knew. But her being the good person that she was, fought her attraction to Liam as hard as she could, and always went back to her jerk of a fiancee, who did not deserve her. Not one bit.

It took her forever and I mean FOREVER to realize that Liam was so good for her, but when she did, it made the slow burn so worth it because not only did sparks fly, but clothes got torn and animalistic urges clawed their way to the surface and things got heated quick! Let me just say, it was HOT AF! It's a miracle my kindle didn't light on fire with how hot their chemistry was. It was literally swoon worthy. *fans myself*

In terms of pacing, Frankie and Liam's story was much slower than any other story I've read from Roxie Noir, BUT they also had some of the best chemistry and most intense and passionate moments out of all the couples I've had the pleasure of meeting through Roxie Noir's novels, and that's saying a lot, because Noir writes some of the best sex scenes around. If you've read her books, you know exactly what I'm talking about, but Liam and Frankie are on a whole other level, so if you are into slow burns, sexy rock stars and hot AF chemistry, than you need to read Ever After! Like, right now!

Overall, I give Ever After 4 Rockin' Stars!

I could not wait to get my hands on this book and the author did not disappoint me. I felt Liam was a guy with a almost death wish. Always pushing and not much self perseveration in him. I also felt he was self centered and not overly likable. Nice touch of the author to not make a completely redeemable character yet this book makes me want to like him. He just absolutely seems so bent on destruction that I felt a real life Liam would be totally frustrating. Thank goodness he had friends who actually cared. And the first meeting between Frankie and Liam was heart wrenching. The author really knows how to bring emotion into her writing. I could not set this book aside. I kept wondering if Liam would miraculously walk the straight and narrow but the author again threw in a twist to Liam’s long term dealing with his addictions. I liked how Frankie dealt with her ex. I love the character development and the story flow. Every time I read one of this author’s books I’m again reminded why she is on all my watch lists. I feel her stories get better and better.

A steamy, angsty rock and roll romance!
Liam and Frankie

Genre: Contemporary romance
Tropes: rock & roll, recovering addict, bad boy, redemption arc, cheating
Spice: 4/5 slow burn at first and then SCORCHING! The dirty mouth on this man...wow!
Content Warning: drug use, mental health, suicide attempt

Frankie is a costume designer from Brooklyn. She is in England with her fiance Alastair, visiting his family. She is a fish out of water at the posh English manor. Now that she isn't buried in her work, she is noticing cracks in the relationship that she didn't realize were there. She starts sneaking out to visit the local pub, where she meets the MMC Liam.

Liam, disgraced and cast out of Dirtshine, is living a quiet life in rural England. He has been clean for a while. The 3rd round of rehab seems to have done the trick. Liam is working as a bartender at a small pub when Frankie slides up to the bar. What ensues is what I would qualify as emotional infidelity. I know these details matter to book girlies, so here is the dirt...she did not sleep with her fiance after she met Liam, and she did not sleep with Liam until after she broke up with the fiance. So for some readers, this isn't cheating. For me, it is slimy and icky and, yes, cheating.

Frankie finally leaves Alastair. She finds Liam to say goodbye and ends up staying for a 3 day bender of sex and alcohol. Of course, Frankie doesn't know who Liam is, and that she is dealing with a recovering addict. They hook up around the 40% mark of the book. It is so hot. Liam has a dirty mouth! After that, I was hooked.

Up until this point, I was about ready to DNF this book. The cheating trope is not my favorite. I did not like the FMC. I'm not sure how old she is, but she is very immature and selfish. She has been dating this guy for 3 yrs and is engaged, yet she is sneaking out and emotionally cheating on him. I wasn't feeling the connection between Liam and Frankie at first because I didn't like Frankie. I was also too worried about Liam to feel the slow burn. He seemed to be drinking a lot for someone in recovery!

The story continues with the main characters parting, and the journey for them to reunite. I became Liam's biggest fan in this book. He was painted as the villain in book 1 of the series, Never Enough. This man has been to hell and back. He stumbled along the way. He finally has been redeemed. And Frankie has been redeemed, also. She was on my shit-list the first half of the book, but now I forgive her, too.

I also loved how the members of Dirtshine came back into the story. The first half of the book was totally separate from the LA world and Dirtshine. It all tied back together nicely. I loved the interactions between Liam and the other band members, especially Gavin. After reading the other books in the series, I really felt like I was coming home to Gavin, Darcy and Trent, too.

Ms Roxie Noir knows how to write spice. The scene living rent-free in my head right now? Backstage at the show. Frankie is watching Liam perform. She is getting turned on, the description of the music, the sweat, the shirt sticking to his body. And then, the intensity coming from both of them. Lust. Feral and urgent.

At the end of the day, I loved Frankie and Liam. They are irreverent and unapologetic and sexy. Rock and roll, baby!

Roxie Noir has done it again! We first meet Liam in Book 1 – Never Enough. Liam is the character you love to hate.

He has used his friends and put them through hell because of his addiction to heroin. At one of the most tormented and painful points in Liam’s addiction, he is planning on jumping from a bridge in front of a train. An American girl stops on the bridge and convinces him not to jump. After two failed attempts in rehab, Liam has moved to a small town in England working as a bartender in a pub and is clean. In walks the girl from the bridge who saved him. Frankie is in England with her fiancé to meet his parents. Her trip was supposed to be for 2 weeks. Alistar’s family is continually putting her down and looking down their nose at her. Frankie decides she can’t take it any longer and takes one of the cars into the town to the pub. Frankie becomes intrigued by the smart mouthed, tattooed bartender. After several trips to the pub, Frankie and Liam become friends. Alistar figures out where Frankie has been going during the night. He treats her badly and causes a scene at the pub. Frankie realizes this isn’t the life she wants to live. So she leaves Alistar a note and her engagement ring. She makes plans to head back to New York. On her way to the train station, she decides she needs to tell Liam goodbye. Liam welcomes her into his house and things with them heat up! Eventually Frankie decides she has to go back to New York. So she writes her phone number on an envelope for Liam. He was sleeping and she didn’t want to wake him. Liam wakes and notices Frankie is not there. He is devastated and realizes he really cares for her. At some point he starts drinking and ends up burning the envelope her phone number was on. He has no way to contact Frankie. Eventually he goes to New York to find her but ends up being unsuccessful. Around the same time, his good friend Gavin is getting married in LA, so Liam heads to California for the wedding. Liam reunites with his former band members at the church and wedding reception. He goes to get a sparkling soda to drink and quickly notices that the bartender is Frankie. He gets his drink and then goes to mingle with the guests. Frankie feels like he has forgotten her. Liam can’t believe she left without saying goodbye. Eventually they both seek each other out and they both start understanding their true feelings for each other. This story was raw, emotional with ups and downs but tells a great, flawed love story! Liam redeems himself with Frankie and his friends. I loved it!

Wow! Roxie has done it again! I have thoroughly enjoyed the Dirtshine series, but I must say Book 3? Whew! I feel emotionally drained and yet strengthened. This is Liam's story. I truly did not like Liam in the first two books but knew there had to be SOMETHING to him. I mean, all that the other bandmates endured because of him, and yet, they still care about him, love him. The last time we saw him he was at an all time low and sometimes, if you really love someone, you have to take the hard road - you can't help someone who doesn't want or think they need help.

So...Liam is not in the band now. He is in England trying and failing and trying again to kick his drinking and drug problems - no one the wiser that he was a rock star. Frankie and Liam meet for the first time when she talks him down from jumping off a bridge. He stumbles away from her, angry he was interrupted, but doesn't realize yet how that chance encounter would change his life.

When the two meet up again, he finds out that Frankie is engaged (and I really don't understand what she sees in her dirtbag fiancee or why she puts up with him and his family - we never really see anything loving and carefree between them!) . There is an undeniable magnetism between Liam and Frankie, and you keep screaming at her to drop her supposed fiancée and kiss Liam already!

Yes, I know I said I didn't like Liam in the other books, but here, you see the man inside the junkie shell. He mourns the loss of his friends and the hurt he caused them. He is trying to stay clean by distancing himself from any provocation, but he is just...existing.
I thought Book 1 with Gavin's fight against heroin was intense, but Liam's story is the exclamation point. Struggling with addiction is a continuous journey. And until the person is ready to realize that and find it within themselves that they are worthy and are strong enough to overcome temptation, all their loved ones can do is wait - ready to show their support and love.

So, in the beginning, I said I was emotionally drained - yes, because Roxie makes you FEEL what Liam is going through! And I was strengthened - yes, but the depth of emotion and support all the characters show. Excellent!

Ever After is just perfection. In the first book, Never Enough, we see Liam at his worst and it makes you kind of not like him. Addiction brings out the absolute worst in people and it was no exception for Liam.
In Ever After we first see him about to do something terrible only to be saved by the pretty American girl who just had to stop and help him. He was rude and belligerent but it also was the very beginning of their story.
Fast forward a year and Frankie is engaged to Little Lord Prick and she's with him visiting family. She's miserable, LLP is being well, a prick, and his family is treating her like dirt. She escapes the mansion and heads to the nearest pub for a pint and runs into Liam. The connection between them is instant. Of course she's off limits once he sees the fat ring on her finger, right? Old Liam wouldn't care, but new Liam is trying his best to be a good guy.
Liam never tells Frankie who he really is while they spend a few days together getting "acquainted". It's hot. Liam is downright sexy af and their chemistry is electric. I kind of cringed at the activities they did, but I just want the best for Liam.
Once they're both back in the states for different reasons things really take off. Let's just say things get even hotter.
The last part of the book I was either laughing or tearing up. Ok, I was a little pissed right along with Liam & Frankie. It all comes together for the group and I effin loved everything. Liam's clean, the band needs a drummer, him and Frankie are in love, LLP gets his just desserts (sort of), and the ending was perfect for the ending of this absolutely wonderful series.
I'll admit, I cried when it was over. It was so good, the characters became like family to me too, I wanted them all back together and happy again. Gavin and Marisol are happily married, Trent & Darcy are Trent & Darcy, and Liam and Frankie are the happy ending they all needed. Dirtshine is once again whole.
If you're hesitant at all about this series let me tell you right now that there is nothing to hesitate about. Dirtshine is one of the best series I have ever read. I miss them already and I know for a fact I will be rereading this series again. Roxie thank you for bringing this awesome group of people into our lives and sharing their stories with us.

Oh Liam. Liam. Liam. Liam....

I think I have read almost all of Roxie Noir’s books by now and I am pretty sure Liam is my favourite hero.

Throughout the Dirtshine series, Liam had been a drunk junkie, who has no thought for anyone but himself. So imagine my surprise when he starts the book sober (first chapter, not th prologue). He is on the wagon, working in a bar out in the wops, and is generally not pissing anyone off.
Now this was going to be a journey, I knew that, just based on what I already knew about Liam from the first two books, and what I knew from Roxie Noir’s teasers. And it was. There were quite a few times were I just cringed at his behaviour, cause he was doing so well, and then he wasn’t. His romance with Frankie was actually a joy to read, it made me irrationally happy, because these two are so well suited for each other.

So, Frankie was our American heroine, engaged to an arsehole English peer. Ugh. And his family... double ugh. She first meets Liam on a bridge and talks him out of killing himself. But a year later she walks into a bar and meets the sober version of Liam. They hit it off while she’s escaping her future in-laws, sparking a very odd friendship. Frankie’s relationship with her fiancé and with Liam are very different, and it just goes to show how someone who seems so right, can be so wrong. And she is such a wonderful person, she deserves someone who treats her right. She never, ever gave up on Liam, and he encouraged her wants and desires, and that is I think what I loved the most about them. It’s give and take.

It seems that a lot of Roxie’s characters don’t go through what I think of as the typical character arc of meeting, falling for each other, some shitty (real or not) thing happens, they break up, and then finally they make up. It happens so often that it’s boring and repetitive. But I love that these characters stick with each other and build each other up. It’s shockingly refreshing. And I loved it.

So of course I would recommend this (though start at the start, because these are not standalones). I would read it again, and probably a couple more times at least.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

We all met Liam in book one of the Dirtshine series, OH he was so much
the character you loved to hate, but in this book we see how life is now for Liam
All because of an American girl who stopped on a bridge one night and stopped
him from jumping in front of a train. Liam had hit "ONE" of his rock bottom places at
the time. He had left the states and gone home but his second time in rehab had not
stuck. Now after his third time he is clean (of heroin that is) Liam is living in a small
town in England working as a bartender, when in walks that girl from the bridge
Frankie is in England with her fiance to meet his parents, it is suppose to be for 2 weeks
little did she realize just how different Alistar would be once he was home again. Yes she
knew he was rich and knew that things between them were okay, But she still is just not use
to his humor, When his family is snide to her continuously she finally has had enough and asks
Rupert (the man who is in charge of the garage) If she can borrow a car, she heads into the little
town and into a pub, She cannot help but be intrigued by the smart mouthed tattooed bartender.
Over the days her visits to the pub turn into a friendship between them. When Alistar finds out he is such
a total jerk and causes a huge commotion at the pub, Frankie finally realizes that that is not the life
that she wants and leaves his ring and a note, but she just cannot go back to New York without saying
goodbye to Liam. OMG at this point I am so totally in love with him it is sad, What happens from here
just had me crying many times especially when Liam wakes up in jail. When he truly realizes that he was
never totally recovered and he started trying again because he fell in love with Frankie, But he has no way
to find her (deleted her number) Roxie did the most amazing job at redeeming Liam in my mind I think
this was the best book of the Three, Although Gavin's story crushed me too. Just the fact Liam finally found
what he never had happiness was wonderful I HIGHLY recommend this book!

I am willing to admit I didn’t need a Liam story. I was firm on my stance that he wasn’t redeemable. Well Roxie Noir proved me wrong and Liam’s story proved to be my favorite story out of the series. So yes, I stand corrected and Liam I adore you so.

Liam is the drummer well former drummer of Dirtshine. He just doesn’t know when to quit and lives the rock and roll lifestyle. Until one day he finds himself lower than rock bottom. He heads back across the pond hoping that this will help him but sadly one day he finds himself once again high and drunk and staring down a train. It’s here he meets a woman who talks him down mainly because she doesn’t want to have to stick around in a foreign country and deal with the aftermath. A year later sheep are his neighbors and he spends his nights stopping inane fights about the town clock.

Frankie just wants to score a job being a costume designer on a major production but for now she’s content working odd jobs. She’s engaged to Alastair is who is a viscount and thinks he can lord over everyone. Frankie only realizes this once they are back in his country. One night to escape the stuffy manor she wanders into a pub and it’s here she lays eyes on a handsome bartender. She starts to question her life as her relationship with this bartender progresses. She finds herself making some major life decisions.

Alright can we talk about Alastair? In the proper British slang he was a right prick. What is up with that mess he had going on and how he treated Frankie? In fact, he refused to call her Frankie. He was a viscount!! Not even a prince!! Liam my dear addict. I apologize for not believing in you. I loved the chemistry between Frankie and Liam. This was more than sex and rock and roll it was about redemption. This was good rock star series.

If you've read her books, you know exactly what I'm talking about, but Liam and Frankie are on a whole other level, so if you are into slow burns, sexy rock stars and hot AF chemistry, then you need to read Ever After! Like, right now!

Overall, I give Ever After 4 Rockin' Stars!

This is the 3rd installment of the Dirtshine series and I have been eagerly waiting for this book. I wanted to know, no, needed to know, Liam's story and who the lucky woman was to get his attention and keep it.
The book starts with Liam, I think at his final lowest point, on the bridge of a train track, high off his face. A car approaches and a woman gets out and stops Liam from doing something stupid.
Frankie is the woman who stops Liam from doing something stupid but she has no idea who he is. Fast forward a year and Frankie is back with her fiance, visiting his family. But things are not going well! After a 3 year relationship with Alistair, she's finally seeing his true colours, and yeah, they're ugly. So she escapes to the only pub around. There she meets Liam again but doesn't realize who he is, but he knows who she is. Well he should, because it's her face that helped him get clean and stay clean.
Liam and Frankie flirt and are drawn to each other like magnets. There's a pull and neither want to tether it. Liam has feelings he doesn't quite understand but he can't let Frankie go. She's become his new addiction and they don't know if they'll survive together or crash and burn.
I loved this book with every fiber of my being. I think it may have knocked Never Enough off the top spot! I love that Liam was repenting for his past mistakes. I did shout at Liam and Frankie a few times throughout the book but it was good shouting. There were certain parts where I didn't know what the outcome would be, and I was on the edge of my seat, like the 2 day drinking binge. I was totally expecting it to go a different way. I loved the character progression. I loved that his "band" family still loved him even though he messed up badly in the past. I just loved everything about this book. Frankie was his anchor, he did everything for her. Their chemistry was off the charts hot! They both balance each other out.
I also loved that Roxie got the British Upper Crusts spot on! Loved, loved, loved this book.

It is the third book of the series about the most destructive member of the Dirtshein drummer Liam and costume designer Franky. When they first meet Liam is about to end his life but mysterious girl change everything and for the first time Liam goes and succeed in being drug-free. And what is the surprise when one night the same girl comes into his workplace-pub a year later. Franky doesn't recognize Liam and also she has another thing on her mind like her fiance and finding some peaceful place to just breath. Franky soon sees that her relationship will never bring her happiness so she ends her engagement and fell in bed with Liam. After intense 2 day fuck, alcohol fest she decided to go home. That leaves Liam devastated and he relapses, sobriety brings him a new solution to fight for Franky, to find her and make her his. Finding her is not easy and she appears in the place he would never expect. He decides to reveal all his inglorious past and they start dating, but the trouble comes knocking yet again on his door will he be strong enough to stay sober. I didn't particularly love Liam he was a very self-destructive person and was selfish because he didn't care who he hurt. His upbringing was not normal and in a way, I can see why the drug abuse was there. But he also said himself he did it because he could he didn't take drugs to escape the troubled past and also he until Franky didn't come in his life didn't see the reason to fight addiction. I was very surprised when Franky so easily fell with Liam in those 2 days of drunk, drug sex fest, so carefree. LAter we see that that was just a temporary escape for her and that she was aware that she must carry one with her life. I liked her also because she believed and supported Liam and was aware when he need help. It was interesting to read full of passion and the end was really beautiful

I hated to see the end but it was so worth it.
This story focuses on Liam, the one we looked on with distain.
You already read the blurb where Liam is ready to jump in front of a moving train.
A year later, a beauty walks into the pub where Liam bartends and although he recognizes
her as the lady that kept him from suicide the year before, but Frankie, the lady in question
doesn't recognize him.
Frankie is in England visiting with her fiance's family, a bunch of snobby bluebloods.
Alistair is Frankie's fiance and he is slated to be the next Earl in the family. Alistair doesn't really
think much of Frankie's employment or her choices of meals or clothing.
Frankie escapes the mansion she is staying at with Alistair and hangs out at the pub Liam bartends at.
Frankie really pissed me off as she simpers around her future husband and his judgemental family.
Finally, Frankie gets a backbone and breaks her engagement and takes off to find Liam.
Once she connects with Liam and they have a hot, torrid affair that lasts a few days drinking and smoking pot until Frankie runs off to her real life in the states.
Frankie misses Liam, Liam misses Frankie but Liam's messed up addictions and mindset screw up his chances with getting together again with Frankie.
We get to visit again with the other 2 couples from Dirtshine and read about Liam's struggle to get his life in order and fight his daily battle with drugs and booze.
Frankie has moved on once she realizes Liam was just a few night's stand.
I felt sad for these characters as they really wanted each other but had so many things working against them
After saying this so far, I LOVED this last installment of Dirtshine and know you will too.
It isn't really necessary to have read the other Dirtshine novels but it does help to know the background on Liam and the other Dirtshine members and their partners.

The Best Ending to a series. I Loved Liam! I don't know how the author did it after the build up in the first 2 books, but she absolutely did!
This is the Third book in a series, so if you haven't read the first two- get those now you won't regret it! Liam is a character from the first 2 books and you will be missing out if you don't read those first and you will love them, I swear!

Liam is a former drummer in a rock band. He is a druggie , kicked out of his band, and has made A LOT of horrible mistakes. He is hiding out in Northern England (he's british) trying to stay sober and get his life together. Frankie is an average girl who is engaged to marry a rich jerk. She is American, he is from England. She is in England for a few weeks visiting his family when she meets Liam.

I will be honest and say that I didn't like how the the first 25% of the book talked a lot about Frankie and her fiancé. He was an ass and she was entirely too kind and forgiving of him and his family. It gave us some glimpse of Frankie and Liam though and I loved their banter at the pub.
The book is in dual point of view. I was so happy to finally hear Liam's story and backstory in his point of view. I was so upset with him after book 1 but then curious and worried about him in book 2. The Author did a great job of building us up for this book and she did not disappoint. And of course I loved that Gavin, Marisol, Trent and Darcy from the first 2 books made many appearances..

Great book. It gave me all the feels: frustrated, disappointed, hot, annoyed, happy and book nastolgic at the same time.

Please, Please, Please give us a novella follow up, or at least an extended epilogue !?!

I received this book for free in exchange for a honest review.

Liam was the drummer for Dirtshine. He and Gavin started the band and they got into every cliché thing that is associated with rock stars. Gavin got clean and Liam didn’t. As a result, Liam got kicked out of the band.

This book starts with Liam ready to jump off a bridge in front of a train only to be stopped by Frankie. A year later they meet again with Frankie not recognizing him as the man she saved from jumping. Liam on the other hand, knows exactly who she is. He never stopped thinking about her and he can’t believe she’s at the bar where he works. The only problem is she’s engaged to someone else.

Frankie is frustrated with her fiancé, Alistair. He is acting totally different around his family and she’s not sure she likes who he is around them. She sneaks out of the mansion where they are staying with his family and drives to a pub and meets Liam.

I enjoyed reading about Liam. It is a very good accounting of someone who is an addict and the struggles they have to overcome it. I like how he and Frankie are together. There is good chemistry and hot sex between them!

Just a side note... The guy on the cover of the book is nice if you don’t look too close at his back hair, but where are the full-sleeve tattoos? They are mentioned more than once. There is a scene in the book where he is sitting in a diner talking to Frankie and shows her his scars hidden by some of the tattoos. I like when the cover model matches the description of the character in the book. Other than that, I enjoyed the book very much and recommend it to anyone who likes a good sexy love story with a happy ending.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibraian – I Dig Good Books

An end to our fairlytale rock band love story. It's friendships, it's bandmates, and it's lovers. It's a little bit of everything. It's perfect.

I have to admit, prior to reading the books, I thought it was going to be one set of characters that all three books were based off of. The blurb really peaked my interest, I was just slightly reserved. I was so wrong and was so happy to be wrong.

I think this story was probably my favorite. I didn't think it was going to be. The male lead character was my least favorite during the first book one and two He was the most broken though. He had the most skeletons in his closet. He had the ugliest past. He had the bleakest future.

Drugs and alcohol are extremely prevalent in this story. I feel that this needs mentioned in case that's a trigger. They aren't just mentioned here or there, they are the basis of this story. Reader beware.

This was a fast paced read. It was interesting, intriguing, and soul shattering. I enjoyed the entire story. I loved the chance meeting of these characters the first time and the second time. I loved the way that these characters really spent time building each other up.

I'm sad that this story must come to an end. It was a great finality to an already incredible story. I urge you to start reading these books, you won't be sorry!

OH.EM.GEE! Roxie hit this one out of the ballpark. I didn't realize that I needed Liam's story until I started reading this gem.

Dirtshine consisted of Liam, Gavin, Darcy and Trent.
NEVER ENOUGH - Gavin and Marisol
ALWAYS YOU - Darcy and Trent
EVER AFTER - Liam and Frankie

Liam, recovering heroin addict and former drummer for Dirtshine. Frankie, costume designer and engage to a version of English royalty.

Frankie's first meeting with Liam is when he is standing on a train bridge, drunk and contemplating suicide. She is brash with him and he is jerk to her and then he just walks off and hides in the bushes just to get away from her. A year later and Frankie happens to come across Liam again in a pub in Shelton, England where Liam is working as a bartender. Frankie was out by herself to get away from her fiancé's snotty family for just a breather. Liam recognizes her as the girl from that night but it takes Frankie a while to remember.

This is a total must read. But, I would recommend reading the entire series. Especially NEVER ENOUGH. You get a lot of what Liam was like during his drugged induced haze. Which is not pretty at all. He hit rock bottom time and time again causing quite the damage in everything he touched.

I just want to gush all over about this book. Roxie takes you on such a ride that you can actually feel the pain, the love and the heartache.
