Hurray, a box arrived! It's addressed to Dad, though, so there's probably boring stuff inside. If only there was something interesting in there, like candy or a robot... or maybe a candy-filled robot!Join three siblings on an adventure of discovery and imagination, until Dad shows up to open the box and reveal what’s really inside. But is Dad cooler than his kids think? Maybe he won’t spoil their fun after all...With exciting elements like time travel, friendly monsters, and superheroes, The Box is perfect for children with huge imaginations. The story celebrates siblings and creativity, and also encourages positive relationships with parents and caregivers.

We love the infamous box, and everything that might or might not be in it. This is the story of three siblings who find a sealed box delivered to their house. Until Dad gets home, their imaginations run wild.
The artwork is clean and lively against a white backdrop. All the colors pop, giving it an animation feel. The text is concise and funny, so it's a fast read for parents. The kids' expressions are priceless and make you want to linger over them. Their thoughts are often humorous and seem to come straight from a kid's point of view.
I recommend this book as one that can easily be read multiple times and hold everyone's interest. Really fantastic.
The Box, by Sarah Mensinga, is a delightful picture book for children, parents and caregivers. With colorful illustrations, it's a story that celebrates the power of imagination and play.
When a box comes to their door addressed to Dad, three siblings rush to see what the box may hold. Although at first they guess that the box probably has 'boring things' inside, they are quick to wonder what exciting things the box may hold instead. What follows is a whimsical journey though the childrens' imaginations as they play together. And when Dad shows up at the end, he shows readers that grown-ups can also be creative and join in the fun.
A joyful book that reminds readers young and old that playing and imagining together is important, The Box is a story that deserves to be enjoyed and shared.
Someone told me to read this book. I'm always looking for a new book to read so I grabbed it. First thing I noticed is it had color illustrations, the second was that it was for children. None of them around here, but I started reading anyway. The third thing I noticed is it was a bit childish, kids thinking about what was inside the box delivered to their home. But I read on. The last thing I noticed was, I wanted a BOX!!
A great bedtime story! Read this to my kids (10, 8, 7, 5) and they were all full of giggles as I did. The story exudes imagination and drew everyone in very quickly. The ending is great and allows the children to go wherever their imaginations will take them. A wonderful, fun, and creative story that I'd recommend to anyone with children!
My kids and I absolutely loved this book! The illustrations are beautiful, and the story is so creative. My daughter found it to be absolutely magical. Sarah Mensinga is wonderfully talented.
Had the pleasure of listening to this read by the author herself online. The art is so lovely and what a reminder that there is no special effect quite like a child's imagination!
I love this book, and my five year old daughter does too! Full disclosure, I am good friends with the author, but I actually bought a copy of this book on my own. The illustrations are beautiful, fun, and heart-warming. I loved the story's joyful whimsy. The writing is exciting and interesting, but simple enough for children to understand. My daughter could even read most of it by herself! I think it would be an excellent addition to preschool, kindergarten, or 1st grade classrooms, as well as any home.
