When a former Member of Parliament makes a personal request to the Home Secretary, the newly promoted Detective Sergeant McMillan and, his partner, are once again thrust into the spotlight.
With the assignment of a missing persons case from 1972, it’s the chance for Sean and Catherine to ease their way back into work with a seemingly straightforward investigation in the picture postcard village of Tyevale on the Wold.
Unfortunately, what starts as an ailing fathers last gasp attempt to determine the fate of his daughter, soon turns into something far more sinister. Forces are at work to keep the truth buried in the past.

‘But the truth is like oil in water – you can try to keep it down, but it will always rise to the top’

Finding Lucy is the third book in The Dream Traveler Series from author Ernesto H Lee and, follows on from the highly acclaimed first and second books ‘Out Of Time’ and ‘The Network’. In this third book in the series, Detective Sergeant McMillan and Detective Constable Swain have just resumed duties, following a two-month convalescence period. Away from their home patch and, staying together in a hotel, Sean is forced to work more closely than ever with his partner. Under such circumstances, is it possible that he can find the answers, keep Catherine happy and keep his loved ones safe?

Finding Lucy is a standalone single part story, but to better understand the characters, I would recommend that you read book one and two first.
Book one and two in this series are now permafree on Kindle, Barnes & Noble, Nook, Apple etc :)

Author Note: 2nd amended edition uploaded on 24/03/19 to correct some minor typos and naming issues. Thank you to the reviewer for pointing them out.

I liked this book the best in the series. The main character still has a drinking problem and the relationship between him and his son is lame and could be much better developed. However, the story was interesting, it had a few unexpected twists and didn’t end on a cliffhanger.

A much better mystery story.

Although the first two books were interesting, this book is a good basic mystery novel. The use of the time travel just makes the story more interesting and doesn't interfere with story as much as the other books. I don't particularly like the way he gets back to the present time. I would imagine that it would interfere with time-line a lot more than it does.

READERS FAVORITE REVIEW
Finding Lucy, by Ernesto H Lee, is the third book in the ‘Dream Traveler’ series and it can be read as a standalone, although there are links to the previous books. It is written in the first person, as Detective Sergeant Sean McMillan works with his partner Detective Constable Catherine Swain dealing with cold cases. In this book, they have been assigned to investigate the disappearance of Lucy Partington Brown over forty years ago. It will not be an easy assignment as the aristocratic family have powerful friends and when Sean discovers some family members are not as innocent as they seem he has to walk a fine line. Sean is a time traveller. He can send himself back to witness the crimes as they actually took place, but when he returns to the present, it can be difficult to explain how he is so certain what happened when there is no modern day evidence to back up what he’s seen. There is the further complication of Ben, who copies him and makes life very difficult due to his inexperience.

I chose to read and review Finding Lucy, by Ernesto H Lee as I enjoy a good detective story, and it wasn’t until I had read several pages that I realised it had a supernatural aspect in time travel. I was intrigued by this and it was fun to read how Sean McMillan managed to hide this fact from his partner and scramble to collect the evidence based on knowledge he should not have access to. It gave the ordinary detective story an added twist. The book was an easy read, and kept my interest all the way through. I liked the wry bits of humour and the reactions of Catherine his long-suffering partner. A good read with a satisfactory ending.

Prepare yourself for a new dimension of time travel in Finding Lucy: The Dream Traveler Book Three, by Ernesto Lee. Detective Sergeant Sean McMillan can travel in time in his dreams. Being in law enforcement allows him to find clues in cases that have been cold for years, but he has to hide his talent. Finding another dream traveler is surprising, but discovering it was his son was even more shocking. Yes, if he isn’t careful, he can change the future. All this must be kept secret from his intelligent partner, Detective Constable Catherine Swain.

Finding Lucy is filled with the work of an underhanded mastermind that Ernesto Lee keeps hidden until the end. As Sean dreams back in time, he can only spend a few hours gathering evidence, but the truth eludes him. I love how the author has the father and son come to an agreement as they find they can work together. The twists and turns within the plot will keep the reader glued to the pages as the story gets more intense. I loved the ending; it is a must read.

Detective with Special Powers- Interesting thought!
A mystery plot wherein detective Sergeant Sean McMillan and Constable Swain are on their journey to solve another case, but this one dealt with missing person from 1970s. But here is what is different about this story is that Detective Sean has special powers that he can travel back in time, when the case actually occurred and that is really interesting. Well, it would be very interesting if that was a reality today. The characters are well designed as this is a book in the series, it's better to always read others first but I I think it's still enjoyable.

I enjoy the time-travel premise in these stories so much that I can overlook the writer's tendency to go on and on unnecessarily in places. It's clear that Lee needs a good editor, not to mention a proofreader. I look forward to the next book in the series.

And the beat goes on…

Author Ernesto H Lee, is originally from the UK, but has mixed Spanish and German heritage and now commutes regularly between his homes in London and Madrid. Previously he was working in Dubai and other areas of the Middle East for more than twenty years, but he has now retired and is a full time author. As this reviewer noted in praising his initial book, a biographical chronicle of four months of his dreaming life, WHEN WE SLEEP, ‘we learn so much about him from his writing of his dreams and their influence on his life that we feel as though we know him well by book’s end.’ Book One of this series THE DREAM TRAVELER was OUT OF TIME, Book Two was THE NETWORK. Now in Part Three, FINDING LUCY, we continue the fascinating events in the lives of Ernesto’s excellently sculpted characters.

To place this story in credible terms, Ernesto offers a fine Preface – ‘It’s been almost two months since my joyride in the back of a police van with sergeants Huntley and Bellmarsh, and I think it would be fair to say that a lot has happened since then. In the two weeks following on from the arrest of Superintendent Clive Douglas, the remaining members of ‘The Network’ were systematically rounded up and most were only too willing to spill their guts and pass the blame on to others in return for a lighter sentence. I say most, because two very senior individuals hose to follow the example of Assistant Chief Constable Maurice Butterfield. Rather than face the shame of arrest and imprisonment, one former magistrate took a nose dive off the balcony of his swanky Mayfair penthouse apartment and a serving chief inspector stepped in front of a speeding train at Kings Cross Station. Call me prejudiced, but the only real loss in my opinion is the fact that, like ACC Butterfield, they will never be held accountable for their crimes. Many others will, though.’…The tension is set for Volume Three.

The story continues as follows: ‘Detective Sergeant Sean McMillan and Detective Constable Swain have just resumed duties, following a two-month convalescence period. Away from their home patch and, staying together in a hotel, Sean is forced to work more closely than ever with his partner. Under such circumstances, is it possible that he can find the answers, keep Catherine happy and keep his loved ones safe? When a former Member of Parliament makes a personal request to the Home Secretary, the newly promoted Detective Sergeant McMillan and, his partner, are once again thrust into the spotlight. With the assignment of a missing persons case from 1972, it’s the chance for Sean and Catherine to ease their way back into work with a seemingly straightforward investigation in the picture postcard village of Tyevale on the Wold. Unfortunately, what starts as an ailing father’s last gasp attempt to determine the fate of his daughter, soon turns into something far more sinister. Forces are at work to keep the truth buried in the past.’ And while it is preferable to begin at the opening of this triptych, each novel in the series is strong enough to stand-alone.

Ernesto H. Lee is rapidly becoming an important and gifted author. This is a fine novel in an unforgettable series and a highly recommended one.

Finding Lucy: The Dream Traveler Book Three by Ernesto H. Lee is a fantastic continuation of this series, yet stands solidly on its own as well as a fine book. This book continues in the same vein, and again the characters are well designed, while the time travel element adds an unusual backdrop to the story. A missing person case from 1972 lays out the plot, and Detective Sergeant Sean McMillan and Detective Constable Swain have just resumed their duties after a brief two month hiatus. With their usual skill and aplomb, they deftly set out to solve the mystery. Sean has the ability to travel back in time when the crime occurred, adding a unique skill set to that of a detective. This alone makes the work by the author mesmerizing, but he takes it a step further with fine characterization, a solid plot, and fast pace. You quickly get pulled into the book with all of its quirkiness and soon become absorbed into finding out what happens. Another great installment in the series, though it may benefit you to read the prior books to get a feel for where the author is going with his premise. Highly recommend for a unique and entertaining read.

Good but a few errors

Great idea and reasonably well written but missed the mark with British phraseology and some facts.
Referral to gas rather than petrol in the car stood out as did breath smelling like ass that is not a UK phrase. Referral to ass in general does not ring true.
A grouse or pheasant shoot in April would not happen as the season starts on 12th August (the glorious 12th) and finishes in December.
Basic errors like this means you question the rest of the story even if it's good.

Interesting p!ot

A British investigator is assigned to a 45 year old cold case. He and his partner begin to ask questions and the bodies start to like up. It also helps solving problems when you can jump back in time. This could make a nice movie.

Well written and exciting

This is the third book of this series which I have read. The basic idea is original and well thought out. The plot is beautifully designed, with plenty of twist

My one question is: how did the Dreamers learn how to end the Dreams?

I truly enjoy the exploits of bot DS McMillan and DC Swain. They are a great team and can't wait to see how Sean and Ben come to terms with their relationship. I can't wait to see if Sean comes clean with Maria.
