Rate this book
You can’t escape your past, but you can fight for justice.

Rex Wallace just sold his ranch.
He’s tired of living in the place where his wife and son were murdered.
All he wants is a fresh start, as the sheriff in a new town.

But cowboys just can’t just start over.

Especially … now … that the man responsible for killing his wife and son is free.
Otis escaped right before his hanging.

And he’s out for revenge!

Rex has brothers, nieces, nephews, and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect them.
Even if it means letting Otis go.

But Otis has other plans.
He’s going to take down Rex and the entire town he’s been hired to protect.

Thunder Hill is a small town without many worries, until Otis shows up.
Now its townspeople are all in danger, especially the woman and child Rex has been spending his time with.

He can’t turn away from battle anymore, especially not when the battle has come to him.
Rex is ready for war, but will he be the one who ends up dead?

How to review this?

Parts of it were interesting, the human interest parts. But during any suspense details, there were so many inane flaws that I kept rolling my eyes and wishing the author had been a bit more astute. People running around shooters rather than away or at least ducking, or right in front of the sheriff when he's shooting? A woman telling the outlaws she and the sheriff were close so they could conclude she'd be the perfect hostage? Telling them the sheriff will be back in a few hours? Texas Rangers taking off, leaving a town defenseless? The sheriff returning an abducted woman home 15 miles away when the outlaws were right there in his town?

Maybe a 10 year old will like this, but the violence and several near rapes would make it a bad choice.

The use of profanity and many irreverent scenes makes the label of Christian fiction doubtful.

Sadly, this wasn't what I'd hoped.

Action adventure and a bit of romance.

This series is really exciting to read. You feel like you are right there on the scene involved in all the action. I love this family and how they are always helping others done wrong.
Rex lost the woman he loved and his only child. He needs to get away so takes a job as a sheriff. So good to read you will read straight through. All of these books are that way.

A JP. Western Novel/A Sheriff Wants to Change Location

JP. has. penned a western novel about a Sheriff in a Small West Texas town that wants to change locations because of his wife's and sons murder. He makes plans and is ready to turn in his badge when a killer escapes from jail and swears revenge on the people of the town. The Sheriff knows he cannot leave and begins to plan how to defend the town with the town owners help. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Now this is one interesting and keep you guessing western. I think this is the best one in the series yet. Realistic, fast paced and those I hope the bad guy gets a little tough western justice moments! Like westerns? Try this one, I really enjoyed it. I think you will too. I was gifted a copy, no review was required. My review is voluntary.

An outstanding display of family camaraderie that only intensifies with each new exciting adventure. A heartwarming rendition of our great American folklore adventures that grabs the reader's undivided attention immediately and never lets up from beginning to end. I have read other entertaining revelations by Mr. Powell, but never one of this outstanding magnitude, as Sheriff Rex's intentions never diminish until the job is effectively under control!

Most definitely five stars material, based on the author's outstanding selections of characters that goes above and beyond the normal expectations of most demanding reader's undivided attention. Too, the descriptive storylines successfully details each and every episode, especially the most suspenseful ones. I am looking forward to the next exciting release in this family-friendly, and somewhat heartwarming episodes of old western adventures, that definitely touches the inner most feelings of true lovers of American folklore.
Certainly, without hesitation, recommend this story, and series, to you lovers of exceptionally outstanding heartwarming masterpieces old old western adventures. You will enjoy some suspenseful moments, as well as compassionate episodes of romantic relationships and definitely plentiful amounts of great ongoing gunfights! Try these books, as you are otherwise the loser!
