I have a little bit of a love-hate relationship with Kristen Banet -although mostly love. I absolutely adore her Redemption Saga, I love her stories, but I unfortunately do not always love her characters.
That being said, I greatly enjoyed Bounty Hunters and Black Magic. It's a little bit different from her other books as it does not have a constant dramatic undertone. Bounty Hunters and Black Magic is more of a lighthearted magical western with a too modern heroine for her time.
A good read, with a hot headed lively heroine and interesting characters.

Now I know a lot of you have fantasies about men in kilts and the like but once you’ve seen a pipe band in real life let me tell you. You can't unsee that.
fantasy = ruined
So instead I dream of what we don’t have in Ireland... cowboys. Yup there’s a reason why cowboy take me away is one of my favourite songs
So right off the starting line I knew this was one for me. Knowing Banet wrote it was also a massive bonus because I just knew it would be quality and she didn’t let me down.
The whole thing was so easy to read. It flowed, nothing was over complicated but still the characters were developed and intriguing. The world is what you would expect from the Wild West. Saloons, sheriffs and working girls. Except in this supernatural western the saloon is magical, the late sheriff was a werewolf and the girls are vampires.
Adayln Lovett (Addy) is our feisty MC. A wild witch means she is both powerful but doesn’t have a lot of control and tends to blow things up if she gets emotional.
"A wild magic witch was deemed completely uncontrollable by society, her magic a sign of her unforgiving will and an inability to control herself. The few born were normally locked away in asylums, considered too dangerous."
We meet her banishing a demon on a revenge mission against the demon who killed her husband the sheriff. So she’s a widow not a teenage virgin. She’s also curvy, strong willed and independent, which is really out of the norm and really likeable.
”She understood that she was a witch, a woman, and she was expected to let the big strong men do what she was doing. Too bad none of the men were doing it.”
"She just didn’t care about what the men around her wanted. She was a formidable equal, it seemed, not a simpering, sweet fool."
Banishing the demon lands her in a bit of hot water and two bounty hunter arrive in the supernatural town. Smexy bounty hunters.
"If Remy was a beast, virile and lacking manners, Easton was a seducer, she was realizing. Soft words, gentle touches, and the enigmatic, unassuming smile"
The harem is a slow burn but also not it looks like the majority will be built in the next book but a couple were well established by the end of this one. So it’s slow burn but also satisfying oh so satisfying
The only downer was at the very end of the book and involved her husband.
I just have no idea why that was introduced. It served no purpose and was silly compared to the authentic feel of the rest of the book. Well as authentic as supernatural cowboys can be anyway.
It’s a book for a lazy Sunday. No thinking required just a good time. Even if you’re not a fan of cowboys the Wild West was really just a setting for the story. It wasn’t cliche in your face cowboys and Indians. Erm well we did get a gunfight outside the Saloon but it was at midnight not midday. So it’s totally different

I absolutely love the author's series The Redemption Saga and consider it to be one of the best Reverse Harem series' out there, both in terms of its world building, plot and characterisation. Anyone expecting this new series to be anything like that will be a bit disappointed, as it is very different.
This was a fun, light and sexy read. Adalyn is a fun character and the world she lives in has lots of potential to be interesting. I liked the Bounty Hunters, Remy and Easton, the most by far. Valen remains a mystery and Tobias is only in it at the very beginning and very end. Maxwell is a bit of a stick in the mud all the way through, although he somewhat redeems himself towards the end.
I personally prefer to have the romance a little bit more balanced by plot and character development, which is one of the reasons why I would say I prefer The Redemption Saga, but this book shows Kristen's talent as a writer that she can write such different books successfully. I also really liked the set up by the end and I think it has lots of potential to be really fun.
In summary, if you want a well written, fun, light Reverse Harem, that is fast burn in some respects, but with potential relationship develop, then give this a try.

First, let's start with this:

Holy shit this book.
Adalyn Lovett is an honest to god fucking badass woman who knows herself, knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to get out there and get it for herself. She can take care of herself, her farm, her horses, her business, and her needs without any problem at all and only needing a man for the last one. She rides a Hell-Touched stallion and casts her wild magic with dangerous precision. She can shoot. She can ride. And she can kick anybody's ass.
However, she is still human. Adalyn shows intense vulnerability and second guesses her decisions. She mourns deeply and wishes to protect those she loves and crosses some lines to do so. It's these crossed lines that brings some interesting new friends to town and summons an old friend that she thought was gone. Remy, Easton, and Maxwell are all after her for different reasons and boy do they get hot under to collar trying to catch her.
This is definitely a reverse harem but it is slow burn and perfect. Adalyn is very confident and likable and the guys aren't carbon copies of each other which is always something to be concerned about in this genre.
This book is hot and fast paced and I loved every minute of it. Cowboys, guns, horses, magic, shifters, and so much more!

I'm glad I've read Jackie Leon first or I wouldn't have read anything else of hers after this book. It's not awful, simply it's not a good one.
I was going to DNF at the beginning as both characterization and workd building were abysmal and the heroine was literally depicted as a bitch in heat (canine variety, not female asshole). We are told she's a grieving widow and you get a panting bitch in heat. Even as erotica it failed (if that was the case).
Both the town and all other characters were shallow and mostly a prop. I stand with Ada's review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Bounty Hunters and Black Magic is RH book with a twist of Wild West theme to bring something different in a oversaturated genre. Sadly, it's more smut than a concrete story.
Adalyn was one of those brash and loud personality heroine that is supposedly bold, different and what not. I think she was just stupid. Her guys weren't anything noteworthy. Remy is a hellhound mix and yet all 99% focus was on him being horny for Adalyn. Easton wasn't any better either. The pacing in terms of relationship development is very much varied. Thankfully the insta-lust doesn't translate into insta-love. I just wished we had explored these characters more than just having the hots for Adalyn.
The plot itself is very basic and ends up feeling shallow for demons to be involved. The whole thing is set off with a very vague idea by Adalyn with no thought and makes her look dumb. I got excited by the whole demon banishment in the first few pages, I thought it was setting some pace for the book but as I read on further, endless lusting thoughts from Adalyn or her dudes just drained that excitement.
If you are just looking for something that has nothing to do with RH bully or academy romance but also has nothing in-depth for a story with heavy focus on humping scenes then try this book.

See my thought process when I picked out this book to read was that I was looking for a "badass heroine" type read and of course I'm going to revert back to the Kristen Banet, after reading her "The Redemption Saga" I thought I would find gold again but nope I was wrong I found bronze instead.
Now don't get me wrong the heroine was badass but she wasn't any Sawyer that's for sure. And though I did find this book somewhat entertaining I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone but I will read the second book to this series to see if it gets any better. (Damn, I really hope it's not a waste of my time reading this second book. But I do have a little faith in Kristen storytelling.)
So off to book 2 and fingers across that I don't add it to my DNF pile. I really hate giving up on books. ijs...

Say hello to the baddest w(b)itch in the West.
Addy is a wild magic witch, meaning she's full of uncontrollable magic that just does whatever the heck it wants. SOMETIMES, that includes listening to her. She's sassy, passionate, protective, headstrong, and totally unafraid to run into the line of fire. Honestly, she might be responsible for the line of fire though the road to h*ll IS paved with good intentions.
She's unconventional, like many of Banet's leading ladies, but she's just so unabashedly herself that I could not help but love her. She's a bit loud, definitely proud, and will follow no man's lead unless she truly believes he does know best.
The men are intriguing so far. Easton and Remy, the bounty hunters, are rarer supernaturals, newcomers to Redstone, and they're certainly unprepared for the wildness that is Adalyn Lovett. What I loved most about them is that they totally just roll with it. Instead of shying away from her magic and her disregard for propriety, they seem to love those parts of her. They're both strong men, and I'm very interested to know more about the paranormal way they're connected to each other, and what that will look like as they build a relationship with Addy.
Right now, it seems like Addy's harem is going to be one that builds. Along with the bounty hunters, there seem to be several contenders that will come out of her close friends. It will be interesting to see how each of them "mans up" and makes a move.
For me, the setting was something different. Honestly, I've probably read as many books with cowboy hats and spurs as I have spaceships (NOT many). But, there was something fresh and fun. I like the Western feel of Addy's world, and Banet starts to establish the background of their universe. Women, even witch women, are expected to follow a certain social code of conduct- and really, Addy seems like the type of woman who's never met a rule she couldn't bend or break. So, she's not what most men think she should be, and that's definitely a source of conflict for some of the inhabitants of Redstone. You'd think supernatural beings might be a little more accepting of differences, but they've got their biases too!
Overall, Bounty Hunters and Black Magic pulled me into this new series, and I really liked it. With such a bold MC, you know you're in for a fun ride, and I love that the men don't get to dominate the *sskicking and heroics. Move along boys, a new Sheriff's in town.

This was an interesting mash up of things. Set in the wild west, witches, demons, shifters, vampires and magic. Things start off slow for me, I liked it, liked Addy but things were being set up so you knew the rules of what was going on. Things picked up when our rogue bounty hunters turned up and Addy was smitten for them, for some loving after 1 year of mourning her dead husband. This, while 2 other friends of her and her dead husband are ready to finally make a move. Oh man, the drama that revolved around that. I liked that Addy was honest the with the bounty hunters and they with her, a little casual fling to benefit them all. I was all for it, but what made it awkward was the Marshall, one who wanted to make a move, was there to witness it all happening.
Now while all of this is happening Addy's in a bit of trouble for banishing a demon in a not good way, hence the bounty hunters, not after her, but the demons coming for her. But Addy is in a bit of trouble with the Marshall for how the demon was vanquished. The town gets pulled into things, and it must be said, the town is fun! Full of all supernaturals, werewolves, werecats, shifters, vampires and assorted others. None of them were about to let a demon hurt one of their own, let alone Addy who is beloved by most.
Everything came down to the end and at first it seemed like the demons were easily beaten. But then they did something no one saw and Addy found herself in a heap of trouble without any of the guys around to help her or anyone to realize how much trouble she was in. So what is a girl to do, well you save yourself, or a get started doing the hard work and then let the men come in to help finish things off so they don't feel useless.
You would think things are done, but no, the town has a plan of their own, one that throws Addy, yet makes total sense. I really like seeing where she's at by the end of the book. She's come to terms with William's death in an unusal way, but makes sense, has a new purpose in life and some new friends. All that is left to be seen is how the friends that wanted to make their move react now that Addy is back in the land of the living.
I went to download the next book, but for some reason it's pulled from Amazon as is this one. Makes me sad because I would love to read about Addy's next advanture.

OMG you have to read this!
Ms. Banet has done it again. Written a book that I was unsure of because I don't normally read westerns or historical anything and BAM! Totally sucked in! Don't let the location, time period or any of that nonsense hold you back because this book has it all, witches, shifters, demons, angels and humans alike.
Adalyn is an awesome character with humor wildness and strength in heaps! The guys are all great in their own ways, but I LOVE Remy...he's my favorite so far. And we definitely can't discount William. Adalyn's late husband. Not going to say anything about him, but if you read the book you'll understand how great he is.
As always with Ms. Banet's books, I can't wait for the next book. And now I have a whole other set of characters to add to my book family. 😄

We have another great series from the talented Ms. Banet. She has a way with words, building characters that the readers become invested in. Here we have Addy who is a wild magic witch. And man what a spitfire she is. She is everything you would want for a female lead. She is sassy, headstrong, protective and fearless. Like most of Ms. Banet's characters she is just so different than most leading ladies. The men, as well are just as fascinating and drool worthy. The Bounty Hunters are just the perfect match for her, and there is so much for us to find out about them. Overall Bounty Hunters and Black Magic is something new in the paranormal Rh world, that will quickly become a must have.

Not bad
At first I wasn’t a huge fan of Addy. But I eventually got used to her rash and brash way of thinking. She’s a little wild and crazy and a lot opinionated. She’s also a woman and in the Wild West that’s a big deal since you know women can’t do anything with us a man. And her man just died... well a year ago. She’s out f mourning and kicking up trouble. This one is laying the foundation but we haven’t really dove deep into the relationship aspect. I’m excited to move forward in this series though.

A nice start to this RH series. I really loved Adalyn and her kickass attitude. She was going to be independent and no one was going to stop her. I love her relationship with Easton and Remy, and think they are a great start to her harem. I really wanted to smack Maxwell a bunch of times. His relationship with Adalyn was both entertaining and somewhat annoying. Adalyn's fiery temper was a sight to see. I can't wait to get more in-depth into this world.

This book is the mint julep, the perfect palate cleanser after some of the darker books in the RH genre and beyond. And while there are some themes within that could make one a little misty-eyed, overall I felt the tone was lighthearted and fun. These new characters jump off the page and have left die-hard K. B. fans posting nonstop trying to figure out who (and what) Valen really is... I have my own guesses and I'm not telling.
I oddly found myself almost liking the major antagonists. They were almost like the sharks in Finding Nemo. Strangely relatable and almost sympathetic. And while there was some rampant misogyny, I think it was there to give a sense of time period, which isn't overtly stated. Given the theme of the book, one can assume old western movie, John Wayne -esque kinds of maleness. Thankfully, the primary male characters have better sense.

Great book!!
I had no idea what to expect and this book blew me away! A fiercely independent witch widow with her heat set on saving the town she loves. Lots of secrets, hurts and love to explore in the coming books. I love love Remy! Great book and start to series!

Three and a half really
A bit of a slow start for me, it took a while to get into the world and connect with the characters. I was invested enough by the end, though, that I'm going to pick up the next one.

Really enjoyed this one, especially the setting but also the different supes involved and Adalyn was a great heroine. I'm excited to see who else joins in Ady's group.

I really liked the concept for this book: a reverse harem paranormal romance set in the wild west. That just sounded like an awesome set-up for the story. So it makes me sad that unfortunately this book didn't really do it for me. While a decent enough read I kept waiting for something to really pull me in the story or make me care about the characters and what was happening, but that never happened. It was entertaining enough that I managed to finish it, but this one is a bit between a 2 and 3 star rating for me.
The setting is fun, although not explored as much as I would like. The paranormal aspect was interesting enough, I liked the wide variety of species and how we saw a bit of them, but again very little world building beyond that. I never fully warmed up to the characters. And where I expected romance there was just some lust and sex and it never progresses beyond that. There were multiple little things in the story and writing style wise that didn't fully work. And all those little things just added up.
Bounty Hunters and Black Magic is mostly told from the point of view of Adalyn. She lost her husband a year ago in a demon attack and now she's determined to be better prepared in case that happens again. She has just spend a year in mourning and preparing. The story starts off when she's testing a black magic spell she learned. Shortly after that she returns home with a group of demons on her tail who aren't too happy she banished one of their own. Two bounty hunters arrive in town wanting to collect the bounties on the demons. And Adalyn is horny as hell as determined to find someone to lay with now that her year in mourning is over. And that's basically the set-up for the story.
While the book has a good balance between plot and the "romance" plot line, the plot moves quite slowly and not a lot of big things happen in this book. The plot never fully gripped my attention and I felt like I was missing part of the set-up that has taken place before the start of this book. The author does a good job of referencing the past events in a way that makes it easy to from a picture of all that happened though, so that helped. I never really felt Adalyn's love for her late husband, it was very factual she mourned him and now she's done with it. He seemed like a good guy for her form everything we do hear about him from her and other characters.
Adalyn is set up as this strong female character who doesn't need help from anyone and can take care of herself. To be honest it felt overdone to me, it was a bit much how she had to mouth off to everyone and show how strong and capable she was time and time again. I did like it when she finally realizes it's okay to ask for help. And she actually could take care of herself which was nice, although she also got herself into most of the trouble she needed to get out. I just never really warmed up to her. I didn't really care for her inner monologue and the vibe of her character.

Usually in books with this set-up it's clear they get feelings and then they stay, here that wasn't the case. I never really felt like any of them wanted to take it beyond that, there were a few hints of mutual respect and how they like one another or might want to get together again after they left, but even so I didn't really feel that this was the set-up for a romance. Maybe that will happen in book 2, but in this book I didn't feel the romance. Then the other 3 possible guys all seem promising, but are there only as friends and one of them is basically away for most of the book. And 2 of them don't really seem to have a romantic interest in her so far. So this book mostly is the set-up for what the relationship will develop into and I don't really feel a lot of romance yet sadly. I had hoped for more romance and not just some sex.
While the men seemed to fit her well enough I wish we would have gotten to know them better. They all have their species of paranormal type and that mostly seems to define them. There just didn't seem as much else besides that. While mutual I didn't fully care for the way Remy and Eaton mostly saw Adalyn as a nice lay and one they might want to get back to in the future for another go. Maxwell was over protective which was annoying, although luckily that got less the further in the book you get. I liked Valen the most so far, but maybe that's because we see so little of him. He seemed interesting and I am curious about his story and what he is. He seemed to respect Adalyn and like her. And he didn't focus too much on getting in her pants or protecting her like the others did. Tobias is in this book so little I have no clue what to think of him yet.

I grabbed a generic wild west image in my head for the town and that solidly in place simply because there was so little description or anything in the book that my image fit just fine. I would've liked to see the setting come more alive and really have that historical aspect of the book feel present. The world building was interesting, but just like with the setting I would've liked some more. Only late in the book I realized humans actually know paranormals exist. Besides this town there is very little you see of the world and it's hard to really get a feel for it.
To summarize: I liked the set-up for this book and the wild west setting was a unique touch. Sadly the story didn't really grip me and I never fully warmed up for the characters. Which made it hard to really care about the events. It was a nice enough read, but I am sad I didn't enjoy it more. Adalyn is your typical strong female character who can take care of herself and isn't afraid to let everyone know so. She also is excited to get back into sleeping with men now that her year of mourning is over and she sets her eyes on two hot bounty hunters. She also has some good friends in town. It had a great set-up for the reverse harem romance, but sadly in this book it's mostly lust and attraction with the two of the guys while the rest stay in firmly the friends zone. I didn't really feel the romance, but maybe that won't develop till the next book. Such a wild and fun read! Adalyn is fierce, independent, and a wild magic witch. Her husband died a year before and she is trying to ensure what happened doesn’t happen again, but there are unforeseen consequences. I love the Wild West paranormal world that Banet has created. The guys are just as intriguing: Remy and Easton, the sizzling bounty hunters; Valen, the mysterious saloon owner; Maxwell, the old-fashioned jerk with secrets; and Tobias, the best friend who I need to know more about. I love that Adalyn is so fierce, but also owns her mistakes and asks for help.im looking forward to learning more about the guys and seeing what adventures Adalyn faces in book 2!

History in the making
Adalyn is a wild witch. Sure, her personality is a little bold, but wild actually refers to her magic. Wild magic is simply that, wild. Untamed. Rather like Adalyn herself. A year ago she lost her husband to a demon looking to crack open the gates of Hell. She used her year of mourning to prepare for the demon's return. Because even though her husband is gone, that gate is still there. And there's a town full of supernaturals in denial about said demon ever coming back. So, what's a witch to do but dabble in a little black magic to banish demons, realize she picked the wrong demon when his big brothers come after her, stumble upon 2 bounty hunters wondering why their mark got jacked from under them, piss off a warlock Marshall and stir up the town when the demons coming for revenge show up? It all seems perfectly logical, right? Nothing that a little wild magic can't handle. Except for when it decides to abandon her altogether like it just did.

I usually avoid anything with any sort of historically themed story line. I don't tend to care for them much. Especially if they hold to the accuracy of few women's rights and all. But this author was recommended by one of my favorite authors that I follow and I took a chance. I'm so glad I did! Yes, this is set in the colonial expansion times of the US. Yes, women, both human and supernatural, tend to have few rights as citizens. But, and here's a big selling point for me: supernatural women are respected and hold powerful positions among their kind. The Alpha of the werecats is female. The vampire leader is female. Witches are understood to be powerful and not exactly follow normal human standards of living. The world building for this book is pretty good. Some is just setting the "old west" stage, but a lot is defining all the beings that live in this town. Shifters, weres, Adalyn is the only witch, the roaming warlock, a shaman, hell touched creatures (like her horse is part nightmare), vampires, and more. The book picks up right in the action but gives enough history as you go that you don't flounder. It also doesn't bog you down throwing it at you. It's woven in. I love that while she gave herself a year she doesn't lose herself. She's hot blooded but not rash. She doesn't try to wall herself off. She knows she isn't ready for another forever relationship but she isn't opposed to finding happiness as she can. And she isn't going to settle for what others think she should be, do or act. I do think we could use a little more insight on her ranch, though. It's the one area not really gone into. Example: she's gone for a couple weeks but no mention of how her 3 mares were taken care of in her absence. Ms Banner gave us a spell that basically put the house in stasis, wards that protect the animals from thieves, but not hands to help out or even a friend who'd check in on them. That is literally my only complaint out of the whole book. The story moves, the wit is on point, the guys are intriguing (I want to add more but it would be too big a spoiler and some things are just too much fun to do that to another reader), the heroine is an adorable mess of kick ass and independence with a dash of sweetness, and the town has fleshed out characters- not just fillers to yammer at and fill pages. I absolutely love where this story went and am excited to see where book 2 takes me.

A wild magic witch was deemed completely uncontrollable by society, her magic a sign of her unforgiving will and an inability to control herself. The few born were normally locked away in asylums, considered too dangerous.Bounty Hunters and Black Magic introduces us to Adayln Lovett (Addy), a widow and wild magic witch, the witch of Redstone. Redstone is a supe town with no humans. When we meet Addy, she's testing a spell to banish a demon. She's after the one that killed her husband, William, and attacked her town. While her spell works, she can't celebrate her achievement or the hard work needed because her method is forbidden.
Except her. She always had too much of an indomitable will.
Her first night back in Redstone she comes face to face with two bounty hunters (½ hellhound, ½ wolf shifter Remington "Remy" Coldwell and ½ nephilim Easton Black). Addy finds out they're there for the demons they know will soon come hunting for her and looking to work together. Maxwell, a US Marshall, warlock and close friend of her late husband, is not happy about the prospect, but he knows he can't control Addy - no one can. She's spent a year in mourning and is ready to get back into the world and in the sheets with those intriguing bounty hunters. She's tough, more than able to take care of herself, except when her wild magic fizzes out, and determined to do what no other man has done since William's death - keep Redstone safe.

I'm fascinated by Valen (unknown Russian Supe) who runs the saloon and Tobias (shaman) seems to be nice though he spent the majority of this installment out of town he's back now and ready to proclaim his love for Addy. Maxwell is a question mark for me. He seems like a nice guy who wants to honor his promise to William to keep Addy safe (as safe as any man can) and I'm curious about his family and the story there, but his position in much of the story was a bit awkward. Then there was the surprise addition/reunion at the end ...
The town was a big part of what I liked about this book. Redstone is awesome! Vampiric working girls, a mysteriously magical saloon owner, wereanimals (cats and wolves) who protect/watch over one another during the new and full moons respectively, magic and mayhem ... such a wonderful variety of supes set within a small, western town backdrop. Fun! I liked the alternating POV, which doesn't always work for me. I'm glad I bought books 1-2 at the same time because I was made aware they're both now unavailable. Maybe the author has removed them to revamp them and re-release. Either way, I plan to read book 2, Werewolves and Wranglers to see how things progress.

Wonderful Wild West Supernatural Adventure
I love how Kristen Banet writes her characters as flawed but wonderful individuals. Once again she has created a fabulous female character in Adalyn, a Wild Magic witch. She lives in a whole supernatural town, where her husband was sheriff until he died saving the town from a high level demon. The town is placed over a hell gate, hence the demon problem.
It is over a year since Adalyn became a young widow and the town is starting to make noises about re-marrying and starting her life over again. Adalyn is a very strong willed and uncontrollable woman, who adored her werewolf husband with her entire being, but she doesn’t know if she can ever marry again.
The story starts with her using a forbidden black magic spell to banish a demon back to hell in order to test her magic and to collect a bounty (this is the Wild West supernatural style remember). This one act leads to all sorts of shenanigans including her meeting two bounty hunters.
I love that she is a lusty young woman who is coming out of mourning, who knows her own mind and doesn’t plan of fulfilling all of society’s ideas of what a woman in her era should do. After all she is a wild magic witch, who’s capacity for chaos knows no bounds!!
Kristen Banet writes wonderful plot driven stories, which happen to have some sex and a hint of romance thrown in. She understands when people are fighting for their lives they don’t always have time to process romantic thoughts, but sometimes sex barges it’s way in. I also love how the author has blended the Wild West with magic, spelled shotguns that reload automatically anyone? Or how about a spoon that stirs itself!
It’s a great book and I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Oh...My...Gosh! Kristen Banet has done it, yet again! This book is not what I expected (in a good way) and sucked me in from page one - I literally could not bring myself to put it down! Who needs sleep when you have an AMAZING book to finish!
Adalynn Lovett is a witch with wild magic from Redstone who lost her husband from a demon attack and has been in morning for a year. She is ready to leave the black mourning robes - put on her black witch robes and face danger head on. She is out for revenge and no one is going to stop her, not even her the sexy as sin bounty hunters or her hubby's best friend the US Marshall - although they will have fun trying to stop her :)
All of the characters are phenomenal - they have interstesting backstories that I just can't wait to get more of and Adalynn is just a bada** in everyway. She stands up for what she believes in and loves with all her heart. I love the cast that Kristen has put together and can't wait to see how each of the men play out. Remy and Easton are two sexy as all sin bounty hunters who have taken to our sexy wild witch, Maxwell is our US Marshall that is fighting inner demons of his own that I can't wait to learn about. Then there is Valen who is a an unknown supe who owns the bar in town - he is a total mystery. And last, but not least, we have our sexy shaman Tobias who is not going to waste any more time getting what he wants - YUMMY!
If you haven't picked up this book yet, you need to - it will keep you on your toes and then some :)

Wild West meets paraRH=OMG
Adalyn Lovett, a wild magic witch=full of uncontrollable magic, is just as wild as her magic. She is sassy, independent, moody, and stubborn. She is also unconventional in this time frame- the Wild West meets paranormal in the town of Redstone. She is much like all of the strong leading ladies of Kristen Banet. This was definitely a new one for me with the setting of the Wild West theme. It was refreshing and an interesting take on RH and PR. Banet made it feel so real even down to women acting with propriety and the US being a man's world. Clearly Addy doesn't give a d@$% about rules or propriety :)
Now the men of Redstone. I like how the guys did not necessarily have a insta-love thing going on. One thing that Kristen Banet is, is a good storyteller and character builder. We have a few potential guys to add to Addy's harem made up of friends and not so much friends (Not gonna spoil it) and 2 obvious lustful encounters. Easton and Remy, both strong bounty hunters, are rare supes who don't spend half the book hemming and hawing about Addy's wild nature. Addy also doesn't spend the entire book with should I shouldn't I. She is decisive.
Overall, this book was an enjoyable read that definitely takes you on a journey. If you want instant harem and one book, this is not for yyou.But if you want a bold FMC, guys that dont shy too much away from her wild nature (so far), then you'll Love this series.

Witch of the West
Bounty Hunters and Black Magic follows Adalyn, a widow, wild magic witch and sassy woman. In an effort to protect her town from the being that killed her husband, the town's former sherriff, Adalyn gets herself into a bit of trouble. That trouble also brings several men into her life. Magic and mayhem ensues as we all try to keep up with Adalyn.
The characters in this book are wonderful. I really loved Adalyn. She is strong, but is able to ask for help. She is sassy, but also kind. She knows what she wants, and tries to protect the people of her town. She owns up to her mistakes. She's just an all around great character. Remy is my favorite of the men. He's interesting and a bit scarred. Maxwell is probably my least favorite, but that can always change. Easton is interesting and I'm dying to know what Valen is.
The world building is something that Kristin Banet does so well. A magical wild west is not something I've read about before and it was very interesting. This is clearly not our world, but it feels somewhat familiar at the same time. Attention to details and interesting characters make it a place I'm looking forward to learning more about.
The writing style of Kristin Banet is something that I enjoy. A nice easy flow with natural sounding dialogue allows me to fall into the world she creates with ease. The plot lines are woven nicely within the story and develop at a nice pace. We end the book on a nice note, with a hint of the next book but no major cliffhanger. The editing is also well done.
Overall, I would recommend this book. I would also recommend Kristin Banet's other books if you enjoy her writing style.

I'm a fan of the author's books in general and they normally leave me with an inescapable incredibly emotional book hangover but in the best way. This was a little different though, because it has the usual writing quality, but is definitely a book that's much more focused on the fun, wildness that accompanies the idea of 'imagine the wild west, but with magic!'. The main character is sassy, confident, independent, and fun, and the other characters, especially the newcomers in town, are the same. The occasional change in POVs gives little glimpses into thought processes, which definitely add dimension to their characters without having to dampen the fun loving spirit of the story by having the characters hash out some sad or tedious backstories that everyone but the reader is supposed to know. The lack of that leaves the plot open to the fun, flirty, adventurous atmosphere that make this such an easy and enjoyable read. I still love the more serious, emotionally evokative path that most of this author's books have but this is a lovely bit of fresh air that I feel like I could go back and re-read whenever I need a pick-me-up.

The wild West never looked so sexy
I'm surprised I actually liked this, and don't get me wrong I love Kristen banets books, but I also love how strong her Heroine are and this one didn't hit that mark but hit another mark for me. She's strong, but not the strong I'm use to, she's amazing and venerable in a way you can just understand, she's so strong to go on and do what she needs to, what she feels is right, and also by doing her late husband right. She's done mourning but is a Little reckless in doing what she shouldn't, but who wouldn't in her boots? And I love how she takes responsibility for her shit, and how she expects herself to get out the mess, not everyone to come to her rescue. I loved how she was ready for a new chapter in her life and took it by the hell hounds horns. Lol, she was a women but dang it she was a lady! She didn't care what the men thought she should be like, she didn't care who she slept with! She didn't care for much of anyone's opinion and she did it all while showing off those curves and living her new life to the fullest
