From the moment billionaire Ashton Smith interviews me, I think of him as Hot Boss. I know I shouldn’t let him distract me from my new job. But how can I resist Ashton’s strong, dominant advances? I need good luck here badly, due to personal problems at home. And when he says he wants to keep me tied up at the office, he means it in the literal sense. Soon I’m running into trouble at work as well, thanks to Ashton. I know I shouldn’t let him take my virginity. And I definitely shouldn’t let him take my heart. But he’s got me doing things I’ve only thought about in my dirtiest dreams. And he says he can make my wildest fantasies come true.
Am I just a clover my boss wants to pluck this St. Patrick’s Day? Or could we be one of the lucky ones that find a happy ever after?
Lucky Pet is a standalone romance. Jamie Knight promises to always bring you a happy ever after filled with plenty of heat. And never any cheating or cliffhangers!
Wow, there were so many spelling and grammar errors, missing words, wrong words, incorrect character names used, etc. Was a proofreader used for this book? It sure could have used one! The story itself was... yawn. Very disappointing.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC copy of this book. This is Ashton and Maria’s story, we very briefly were introduced to Ashton in the previous book Office Pet but we are about to get to know him a whole lot better.
Ashton has finally completed the merger with McKenzie technology and is looking forward to new challenges when Maria walks into his office, he’s attracted to her immediately and cannot wait to be better acquainted to her, she is perfect in every way for the job but with the new HR policy he knows he can’t be with her the way that he really wants. But can he really hide from the feelings that she evokes and keep his hands off the only woman he has ever wanted this way? Could his womanising ways be coming to an end?
Maria is desperate for this job her mother is finally recovering from her cancer treatment and the medical bills still need paying. Plus she has missed working and feeling useful, why did the man she would be working for have to be the alpha male of her dreams. It’s not long before innocent Maria can’t hide her true feelings for Ashton and as their relationship changes someone isn’t as happy for them as they should be. Will Maria really get the HEA or will Ashton choose business over her and what they could have?
I did really enjoy this story and even though it was pretty short it was in-depth and entertaining not to mention seriously hot. This author writes totally safe books.
Maria is back in the job market after caring for her ill mother. Ashton is a partner in the firm looking to hire her. She also meets co-partner, Ben. Maria labels Ashton as "Hot Boss" and Ben as "Douchey Boss." She impresses both and is hired.
On her first day, "Douchey Boss" hits on her and is not happy to be turned down. She needs the job to pay for her mother's care, so puts all her efforts into doing her work and staying away from "DB." She enhances the file storage software the company offers and impresses "Hot Boss" Ashton, leading to the romance of the story. Ashton was attracted to the naive, beautiful Maria from the start, but didn't act on it because she's an employee. Marie is attracted to the dominance (and looks!) of "Hot Boss," but doesn't think anything will come of it. Will they act on their attraction and get lucky??
I'm not spoiling things when I say they do. The description says "Jamie Knight promises to always bring you a happy ever after filled with plenty of heat."
This is the second (chronologically) in a series of standalones set at McKenzie Tech. (The first is Office Pet.) Ashton is a friend of Kane McKenzie, CEO of McKenzie Tech. Their two companies just merged. As with the previous story, I liked the main characters of this story, Ashton and Maria. Plus, characters from the earlier story make appearances as they befriend Maria. The secondary plot of this story is a bit thinner than the last, but was enough to hold my interest. My only negative is the improbable thing that happens with Maria's position at the end of the story. Sure, she does good work, but it was a bit unbelievable for me, especially considering her tenure with the company. That's romance for ya!
There's one more book, to date, in this series, Fake Pet. I look forward to reading that and any others that come along.
Also, I was happy to see that there was an extended epilogue available, not that the story needed it. It was just nice to have an added scene with Ashton and Maria.
For me there wasn’t any character building or a true story to tell with this one. Maria and Ashton don’t even share a whirlwind romance. Instead it’s just stolen moments on their job that involves sex escapades liable to get someone fired. In order for me to have been invested there needed to be something that drew these characters together, insightful dialogue, a date even if it’s only to the street vendor. I still know next to nothing about them, their background, upbringings, favorite color or movie. Just a quick skip straight to sex like a short porn story. Really wish there was more to recommend this. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Ashton and Maria. Maria is hired by Ashton and they have an instant attraction to one another. Ashton is a dominate male and is not one for relationships, but there is something about Maria that he can't ignore. Maria is glad to have a new job because she was caring for her mother, who has cancer and she needs money to pay hospital bills and to get her mother more treatments. When Ashton decides he wants Maria, he knows she is a virgin and he wants to dominate her. Maria is very attracted to Ashton and is willing to do anything he wants. They have to keep things a secret because of the rules about dating in the office and Ashton is worried Maria will get in trouble. I enjoyed this book. I really liked Ashton and i thought he knew from the start Maria was different and he was going to have to admit to falling in love. Good one.
ONE ENTERTAINING EXPERIENCE!!! I have to say this is one incredible read. Scenes, characters, location and details were so realistic I had no trouble picturing each scenario as they play out right before my eyes. So many twists and turns that kept me captivated from start to finish. Surprises and unexpected glitches and scrapes around every corner kept my total focus on this page turning wonder with its raging storyline and thrilling plot. Emotions, personalities, attitudes are 100% spot on for realism. I felt like I was dropped right in the middle of the excitement with the main characters instead of the sidelines. I wasn't sure what I expected from this exciting tale, but true to from, Jamie rocked it. Awesome job Jamie, thanks for sharing this little gem with us. Remarkable job Jamie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
I loved the first in this series and enjoyed this one. The office heat wasn’t quite as hot and the build up took longer. The steamy scenes were less and she was too agreeable way too fast for a first timer. I felt like it all didn’t seem realistic at times so it didn’t build for me in heat. I still liked it but it didn’t live up to a 5 star read. I still love them as characters and the hot idea of office romance. I didn’t dig the whole cancer thing. Have mom in remission and have bills if you are going to add that and not make a central part to their story. He never really even asks about it. That doesn’t make sense. Overall, would still recommend as it’s got plenty of sex, domination, and friendship.
We met Ashton in Office Pet but now we get his story. He comes across as hard and aggressive but is there a softer side to this alpha male. When he interviews Marie for the job there is attraction but she needs to keep this job after all she has problems at home that this job will help solve Soon she has problem at work as well Ashton seems determined to keep her tied up in the office in more ways than one will she just be another notch on his bedpost or will she end up been so much more to this hot as alpha. There is plenty of steam and humour in this great fun read
Ashton has finished his merger and is ready to get to work when he sees Maria. He knows that he wants her but all the new policies have made it harder for him to get what he wants. Maria needs this job because of supporting her sick mother. But there is something about her boss that draws her to him. Will they be able to find a way to be together? What will happen at work if they get caught?
This is an amazing story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Who do some brilliant stories have to be so short, hence the 4 stars. I read about Ashton briefly in Office Pet and now he going to me a special lady, Maria. His womanising ways are about to change. She is clever, sexy and more his match. Dealing with office shenanigans, jealous colleagues and a sick parent , Maria certainly has her hands full. Thankfully Ashton is more than her white knight. Great story, loved it
Maria was being interviewed for a job her boss to be was Ashton and he was impressed with her enough to offer her a job. Only problem he had was he couldn't stop thinking about her. Maria needed this job with medical bills needing payment and he mother's health she couldn't just sit back and do nothing. Yet another brilliant story hot and steamy in places with no cliffhanger highly recommend.
Honestly I wasn’t sure how to rate this book. Maria needs a job due to her mother having cancer. First day Ben hits on her l, Sloane sees it and says nothing. Next Maria is a Virgin, Aston takes her this first time on his desk died up. Two stars, due to names not being accurate in some places, Sloane not being helpful when Ben did Maria wrong.
Prim little virgin let's her boss tie her to the desk and take her virginity. No prepping, no romance just cold BDSM. No safe words! Second round was disturbing again not romantic. The intimacy scenes were cold and matter of fact. The story isn't believable. Wasn't a fan. :(
This is another smoking hot read. This is the second book of this series but it can be read as a stand alone. But I would recommend that you read the whole series. If you're new to this author I can promise you that will find a very HEA and smoking hot love scenes.
Maria and Ashton - Maria goes on a job interview - two men interview her - and she has funny nicknames for both - in her mind - and they become what she thought! With this book Jamie hits it out of the park - book 2 is as good as book 1. The pet theme of these books is really hot - I love the idea and the book.
An enjoyable well written short office romance. The characters are great, likeable, well developed and have sizzling hot chemistry. This sweet, sexy romance was funny, steamy and enjoyable in this fast paced storyline. I honestly and voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
Hot, I was so entangled in the story that I could not stop reading until the very end. I would recommend this series to adults that enjoy stories that are funny, steamy, and romantic. Well done.
Hot Boss vs Douchey Boss This is a short fun St. Patrick's Day novella. There are a lot of steamy office scenes! It was however my least favorites of Jamie's stories. I received an advanced copy for this honest review.
I like the characters and the storyline seemed promising but it just moved too fast for me. I get that it's a short story but I want it to be believable and it wasn't for me. But it wasn't bad
I love the sweet innocent virgin with the nasty naughty girl trapped inside. I liked this book better than the first book in this series. This had a nice quick story to tell and it was told just right.
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
Ashton is definitely the HOT boss! I love a book where the H knows how he feels and isnt afraid to pursue the h and tell her how he feels! This book was short and steamy! It will have you squirming for sure!
This was a great story. Luck brought Ashton and Maria together. This book also dealt with sexual harassment. Being harassed by a boss is the worse feeling.
