This is the story of a young man seemingly helpless to fight his lifelong passion for throwing a baseball, a ballplayer determined to make it in professional baseball. Dan Blewett shares with the reader the setbacks, the injuries and surgeries, the struggle with his own self-confidence from the sandlots through the lowly independent leagues. Blewett writes honestly of the highs and lows that comprise a ballplayer's days on the diamond. And he makes it clear: Grit and determination and a ninety-plus m.p.h. fastball don't guarantee success for a professional pitcher.
