The Unmumsy Mum A-Z – An Inexpert Guide to Parenting

Rate this book

___________________________

THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

From bestselling author and massively popular blogger The Unmumsy Mum comes this hilarious, irreverent and searingly candid compendium of parenting experiences. With entries including D is for Desperation, F is for Fish Fingers, S is for Supermum and V is for Vagina, it's safe to say this is not your average A-Z.

This book won't tell you what sort of parent you should (or shouldn't) be; instead, it offers a refreshingly honest account of what being a mum to three young children is really like and the surprising lessons that have been learned along the way.

If you feel as though you're not 'measuring up' or are struggling to #cherisheverymoment, Sarah's tales from the thick of it will reassure and resonate with you. Above all, her commitment to telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth will make you laugh out loud and remind you that you are, in fact, doing a great job.

I've now read all of the Unmumsy books, and this one was up there as one of my favourites.

It's incredibly funny, honest as always, and makes for a light hearted end to the day when reading at night.

If you're looking for something fun, not too serious, but finally an honest account of motherhood in all it's glory and messiness, then you'll love this book.

Knygą radau bibliotekos lentynoje. Rėkiantis viršelis nebuvo patrauklus, bet labai matytas parduotuvėse,o peržvelgus aprašymą knyga visai sudomino.

Knyga, iš tikrųjų, nustebino ir labai patiko. Autorė man pasirodė labai artima. Mes turime daug bendro: trys maži vaikai, gyvenimas Jungtinėje Karalystėje, panaši dienotvarkė, vargai vargeliai tie patys, todėl buvo lengva su autore susitapatinti. Viskas pažįstama, patirta, labai gerai suprantama.

Knyga šmaikšti, atvira, be jokių tabu.

Funny because it's true

Such an honest look at life as a parent. It's nice to know that we all go through the same daily struggles.

Love her style of writing and this book made me laugh out loud like the other books. Sad it's her last one but have very much enjoyed them all.

I have previously read the other 2 Unmumsy Mum books, so I had to read this final installment!

I really enjoyed the first Unmumsy Mum book and this one.

This hird installment is a lovely, honest, funny, relatable quick read.

I liked the fact this book is written as an A-Z guide covering the key topics/phases all parents can relate to. It is written well and just so, so relatable. Sarah never sugar coats things and details the highs and lows of parenting in such a relatable style.

I laughed out loud many times whilst reading this book, recognizing so many shared experiences and conversations I have had with my own son.

In a world full of uncertainty and scary times, reading this book was an absolute joy, and an ideal way of escapism. It also genuinely makes you realise how hard we as parents are on ourselves at times.

Highly recommend any parents to read this as it is so relatable to the everyday lives of parents.

I am gutted this book is the last in the series!!!

I have enjoyed every unmumsy book Sarah has written. It’s refreshing to read other mums struggles and being able to relate to the not so positive side of parenting and the guilt us mums feel. Parenting is tough at times and it’s nice to read a book that highlights that and read from another parent that it doesn’t make you a bad parent if you take some much needed me time. I’m glad for these books it’s honest and relatable and I’m glad I’m not alone in feeling that parenting is tough but it is rewarding at the same time.

I've read all of Sarah's books and enjoyed them, but I thought this one was really fun and enjoyable to read. As usual, I found myself nodding and laughing along to nearly everything. As a fellow parent of three, it feels so good to be seen and to be reassured that I'm doing ok after all. Also, it's laugh out loud funny, so if you're looking for a reassuring, light and fun book about being a parent, look no further!

A mum's natural rant! Although I felt it was a bit insensitive at places and hilarious at most where you are vigorously nodding your head (of course, only for mums who have gone through the phase).

Just don't think I can recommend to anyone who isn't a mum yet 😉 (lest you aim to scare them away)

A lovely and heartwarming book about everything relating to childcare, A-Z, as it says. It is full of funny stories and how having children is not all glorious as the idea of it may be portrayed. An easy and enjoyable read.

Another laugh a minute from the unmumsy mum! All 3 books are brilliant and real life parenting, with all the good, the bad and the ugly bits. Told with love, excellent comedic humour and a tiny bit of terror 🤣🤣
I know the unmumsy books are done (for now) but I can't wait to see what Sarah's amazing writing skills bring us in the fiction department!

When I read at the beginning that it is the last unmumsy mum book, felt so sad! Love how honest and relevant she is, and makes you feel like you are completely normal!
Not as funny as the other 2 books but still an enjoyable read!
Love unmumsy mum - my idol!

Hilarious! Exactly the type of book any mother needs to read, especially those with young children. It helps you realise it is totally normal to feel like being a mum is hard work sometimes and have a laugh along the way.
