Yeah idk I‘m a sucker for this series.

I did enjoy the first one just a little bit more but this one was just as cute.
I really like the men she’s writing about, because they don’t give me this F-Boy vibe.

Love Most, Say Least by Jolie Vines is book Two in the Marry The Scot Series. This is the story of Beth Grace and James Fitzroy. I have read the previous book and felt you could make this a standalone one if you wish to do so.
Beth didn't have the best childhood and now she is 18 she is trying to clear up a past mistake with the law. James is set to inherit his family country estate if he can be married by 21. James is set in his mind that he will have a loveless life because of it but he is taken back by Beth who knocks him off his feet (no really). Beth doesn't mind temporary since that is all she knows to expect or want. But their feelings are to strong to walk away from.
I enjoyed their story and this series.

This is the second book in the Marry the Scot series and after finishing this, I seriously could not decide which one I liked better. Maybe it's because James and Callum are both so different. In any event, I picked this book up and devoured every page. I couldn't get enough. The characters, the plot lines, the scenery and suspense... All of it was perfect! James and Beth were so perfectly matched for each other. Both quietly broken and afraid, both having lost so much. It was impossible not to fall in love with them and their journey! Another fantastic MUST READ by this very talented author!

I have to say I enjoyed this second book in Jolie Vines' Marry the Scott series even more than I did the first. It features the quiet and mysterious James... and Beth, roommate to the heroine in the first installment.

I love that this book turns convention on its ear with a worldly female main character who is comfortable with herself, her body, and her sexuality. James is the one who has led a sheltered life and he is really at odds with himself about what his future holds.

You see, James grew up feeling responsible for the deaths of his parents. Now he feels like he needs to just shut up and do the right thing for his remaining family, no matter whether it brings him any happiness or not. But then he meets Beth and everything changes. For the first time, he knows what it is to be valued and loved. And to love in return. It was a joy to read.

I don't want to spoil too much. But I will say the sexy times are good. I’m a sucker for a virgin hero and I loved how much Beth rocked James' world.

It’s also fun seeing the events of Storm the Castle through a different lens. If you haven’t read that book though, don’t worry. You won’t be lost. Now I am excited for Gordain’s book. It will be here in just a couple of weeks!

Oh James...he was such a beautifully broken soul and I knew his story was going to be difficult to read but I made it through and I love him even more for it. Beth was just the perfect partner for him. She brought him to his knees and found a side to him that not many had seen before. I truly loved their love.

I know I’ve been going on about these books a lot recently, but Jolie Vines is one of those authors that you really wished more people knew about. These modern day Highlanders and their strong women have consumed me, and I’m happy to say that I’m nowhere near done with their stories yet.

Love Most, Say Least is Book 2 in the Marry The Scot Series.

I’ve been hanging out for Jame’s story since book 1 and it didn’t disappoint, Jolie Vines just keeps getting better.

Strong lead characters. James is the strong, silent type and a little socially awkward. Beth is such a relatable and likeable character and so funny. I really liked James and Beth together and I was cheering for their happy ever after.

I loved that Jolie included the characters from the previous book however it can easily be read as a standalone. It is the perfect combination of what feels like historical romance mixed with contemporary.

I’m really looking forward to reading more from Jolie and can’t wait for Book 3 The Hero.

Hooooooked by this story! I love that they were both awkward and sweet and strong in their own ways. Such a fun contemporary take on the classic Highland romances so many of us fell in love with in early romance reading days! Already bought more of the series.

Can I just write a review on James Fitzroy instead of the book? I’m so sorry if this is James dominant but I’m in love with him! Where do I get my own James? I want him to be a real person, hug him and thank him for everything he has done. I don’t think I ever related to a male character like I did with James.

This is book 2 of Marry the Scot Series, James and Beth story. Callum and Mathilda’s (from book 1) best friends. Read as standalone but starts at the same time as Callum and Mathilda’s story (book 1) and then goes on a bit more. You get to go through the sick days of James and beth on Storm the castle.

James is sensible, vulnerable, caring and loving to everyone that surrounds him. He looks up to the McRae brothers and in a way also to Beth. He starts being very cautious, innocent and new to everything.

He falls for Beth and it won’t be easy but he worships her so it’s a bit late to stop his feelings. Beth deserves to be happy, after her tough upbringing she became an incredible woman, always trying to see things in a lighter way.

This story is funny and awkward but full of romance, commitment and noble hearts. Even if James is much more innocent and “virginal” his story with Beth is very sexy and steamy. James won’t stop to protect what’s his and you’ll witness him maturing into a gentleman.

You will be blushing A LOT reading this. Jolie surely knows how to write THOSE scenes. Given their (James) circumstances, their sex scenes are super hot and steamy and their story is filled with action and sexual tension and attraction.

OMG
This book shocked me from the start...
First, this book takes place parallel to book 1. So a few parts were already known, but not in detail 😉
OK, we have a rich 20-year-old earl. Who is 🔥🥵🔥 You would think he has an easy life and lots of girls... Wrong. I don't want to say too much just, he is a virgin.
And then we have a poor 21-year-old orphan who tries to juggle her multiple jobs, studying, and caring for her foster mom.
Their worlds couldn't seem more different. But still, they have so much in common.
I felt soo sorry for all that happened to James. His uncle is *aaaaaaarg* I can't find words for him that wouldn't ban my account 🙊🤬 And still, James is so cute and everything. Luckily he found Gordain and Callum who showed him humanity.
The chemistry and tension between James and Beth... (God, it's good that I'm no author... I really have problems finding the right words...) It's just BANG. They saw each other and even though both thought it couldn't be, it already was love.
Even with all this love, this isn't just a cute love story. Because of all their history, there are so many obstacles. And it looked bad for them 🥺 Again, I can't understand this f***head of Richard (James' uncle) 🤬
The end of the book definitely made me jump into book 3, because YES I need to know how Ella will decide what to do now with what she was told 😱😱😱 (sorry, no spoiling here)
Oh, the bonus was so cute 🥰 I already said, that I read the second series before this one 🙈 so I knew about the babies, but it's so cute to read the start of them 🩷

The second book in the Marry the Scot series is just as scorching as the first! I fell in love with James immediately, and Beth was such a relatable heroine. Her hard work and determination to help others were perfectly countered by her vulnerability and a slightly naughty streak.

James was a typical Vines hero: a man who realizes what (or who, in this case) he wants and just goes for it! Put in an impossible situation, he shows such amazing strength.

This series is a perfect swoon-worthy romp through beautiful English and Scottish locations and made me want to book a ticket and see those castles for myself (I wouldn't mind a peek at some of those men, either). I can't wait to read The Hero!

A match made in Scottish heaven

If a couple that’s completely opposite yet seem to make each other better is your kind of romance than this book is a must read for you. James has a load of baggage and has difficulty interacting with Beth. Beth is outgoing and does everything to not only survive but to care for her foster mother. These two face difficult situations and overcome them only strengthening their relationship. Read through Kindle Unlimited

This was a good read. In this one we have Beth and James. They both come from very different families. However, their love is strong. Which is good because they were tested. Thankfully in the end it all works out for them.

When Beth Grace crashes into James Fitzroy's life, he is blown away, first by her fearlessness, then by her beauty. He is an earl, and will inherit a huge estate on his 21st birthday - if he's married first. She has nothing, was a foster child for years, and is working every hour she has to help her foster mother care for the brood of kids living under her roof. When James invites her to spend a weekend in Scotland, Beth jumps at the chance to see how the other half lives.

As James and Beth begin to explore a relationship, first illness, then his obligations get in the way. Will James be able to navigate his uncle's expectations and put his foot down on the question of the arranged marriage his uncle is pushing for him? All he wants is Beth. Can he figure out a way to have her?

Beth, for her part, knows James is WAY out of her league. He's an earl, for crying out loud, and she's working two jobs and living in the tiniest apartment ever. She doesn't have time for a relationship with anyone - until her boss basically gives all of her waitressing hours to someone else. Then, she has too much time on her hands. As James steps in, will she see that they're really not so very different from each other, and maybe there is a way for them?

This story started out a little slow for me, but by the end, I was rooting for James to kick his evil uncle to the curb, and hang onto Beth with both hands! I look forward to reading Gordain's story next in Hero. Callum and James' stories were both well done. I would definitely recommend.

I didn't realize until I finished this that this is Book 2. Definitely going to go read Storm the Castle now.

Love Most is the story of James and Beth. James has an estate to inherit but only if he finds a wife. He's not even choosing the wife for himself. Its all being arranged. Enter Beth. She basically terrifies him without meaning to. Both have been suffered trauma in their lives. Through this book they both deal with their own issues as they fall in love and I loved it so much.

Calling James reserved is an understatement of epic proportions. Through the story you find out why this is and it was so sad. I just wanted to give him a hug. I loved seeing him open up to Beth and learn from the past.

Beth was just a great character too. Even though I think she jumped to conclusions sometimes, I do understand why. Beth has had a rough to life and after all that's happened she's always seeing people leave her. Of course James is not about to do that.

The villain of this story is just awful. He's so manipulative. This guy basically hurt his nephew for his own gain. I mean there's a backstory there, but he's just too awful to really feel bad for.

Writing a review about a character with my name is so strange. It doesn't really happen that often either. I'm happy to share my name with this Earl though.

I am so in love with this series. I cannot wait to read the next book, but first I should talk about this one. The title comes from a poem that James' mother loved to read. You will have to read the book to see how James uses it in wooing Beth. From the first chapter to the last, this book is full of action, suspense, love, intrigue and will have you turning page after page. It is a long journey for James, the scarred and lonely man and Beth, the emotionally injured and orphaned girl to find their HEA. I think the journey had to be that way so that they could both realize the reasons that they needed to be a couple. Read and see how their wonderful friends and surrogate family members help them realize their dreams of finding a lasting love to call their own.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

You knew James was haunted by something but you had no idea how deep it ran and how controlled he was, so thank gawd for Callum as James may be well off privilege wise but he is poor in emotion and love. Then there is Beth who has a poor upbringing and needs to work multiple jobs to get by, but embraces life so even though she had James are so opposite they are the perfect match. I loved seeing James come out of his shell especially in the way he contacted Beth lol and seeing him finally wanting to take steps to bring his life back under his own control for which Beth is a big reason for it. However someone has more power over his life and you are biting your lip not knowing if James is really strong enough and if Beth will stick around so buckle up for a read with plenty of highs, lows and steamy times!!

Second in the series, just as compelling to read. I loved how this book started when these two met in the first book. I am thrilled to finally see what made James who he was. Two such guilt-ridden people find love together and know that happiness overcomes all. A couple times in the story, things happened that I thought would send Beth running, and I was surprised at her staying power. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend this and the first in the series. I look forward to the next, already with a hint as to where it will go.

I received an ARC of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.

Love Most, Say Least (Marry the Scot #2) by Jolie Vines is a steamy, contemporary romance told in first person dual POV. Although it's the second book in the Marry the Scot series, it can be read as a standalone.

Twenty-year-old James Fitzroy is the tenth Earl Fitzroy and in order to inherit Belvedere, his English estate and family home, he must meet the requirements of a centuries-old will that applies to every eldest son in his line. He must be married by his twenty-first birthday or the estate will pass to a distant cousin. In preparation for managing such a sprawling landscape, James has been living at Castle McRae in Scotland for the past six months receiving occupational training from his friend and mentor the laird Callum McRae.

Twenty-two-year-old Beth Grace is the granddaughter of a car thief. After he died, she grew up in foster care determined not to follow in his criminal footsteps. On her eighteenth birthday, Beth made a terrible mistake that resulted in an arrest and criminal record. Due to her age and it being a first offense, she received a suspended sentence. Nearing the completion of her sentence, Beth visits a lawyer to clear her record and learns about court fees that must be paid. She's determined to work hard, save her money, and clear her name so that she can get a better job, complete her education, and have a better life.

James and Beth meet when she pulls a driving stunt that terrifies him. Thinking she's about to run him over, he has a flashback from a traumatic accident in his past. Beth apologizes and James is left confused by the attraction he feels. He barely speaks to her, so she's surprised to receive a letter from him asking for advice. They talk over text, telephone, and facetime and Beth is even more surprised when James invites her to come to Scotland.

Will Beth be able to clear her record and start over? Will James marry in time to receive his inheritance? Could a relationship work between the two of them or are they just too different? Will James be able to choose his own bride or will he be forced into an arranged marriage?

I really enjoyed Beth and James's story. Both were very likeable characters who had been broken and damaged from past experiences. James had a sweet innocence about him that was very endearing. Beth was feisty and strong with an underlying vulnerability. Their chemistry was intense and together they were scorching hot. Heartwarming, emotional, and super steamy - I loved this story and can't wait until the next one!

When I received a request to review an ARC for an honest opinion, I conducted a bit of research about Jolie Vines, as she was a new author to me. I found out quickly that she is a new author to everyone. Love Most, Say Least is Vines's second book. If it's any indication of her forthcoming books, she will quickly become a beloved author.

Love Most, Say Least (one of the best titles as it comes from a Tennyson poem) follows James and Beth, two people from different worlds. James has been groomed to inherit an earldom, while Beth was raised in a foster family. Both of them have been hurt by their life circumstances, and they carry so much "baggage" between the two of them. James has been shut down emotionally by his family's tragic circumstances and his uncle's neglect. Beth has grown to both fear and distrust attachments because everyone in her life leaves or dies. When they find each other, it fills a hole in each of them, causing some internal struggles but providing an eventual HEA, only after some drama.

From the start, Beth exhibits the model traits of a strong woman who has endured the difficulties of life. She worries about her friend and her former foster mother, making various sacrifices to ensure they are cared for. She is an h to admire, even though her internal dialogue frustrates the reader. She is also responsible for bringing life into James's life.

I loved James. He carries so many wounds that he's awkward. It makes the reader uncomfortable for him because he is so emotionally stunted. However, Beth breathes life into him, and he quickly becomes endearing as he shows his care for her. He willing makes distinct changes in his life, so it can accommodate Beth, readily healing her.

The McRaes lend guidance and humor, also softening James's demeanor. I haven't read the first book in this series (I plan to read it soon), and I am looking forward to future books with this clan because these guys are sexy and fierce.

There is much to love about the story. My favorite romances are ones where both the H and h undergo significant changes to honor their love. While there is a bit of angst in this story, it isn't more than the reader can handle, and the ending is satisfying.

Overall, Jolie Vines is starting strong with her latest book. It has a swoon-worthy hero in James, a strong loving heroine in Beth, a cadre of interesting ancillary characters, and a story that reminds the reader that love can overcome any past.

Ah, the second story in the Marry the Scot series. If you loved “Storm the Castle”, you’ll love this one. My favorite thing was that the author started the story with a recap of how James and Beth initially met. The story of the weekend they spent together in bed sick is expanded upon and explained. In other words, this is James and Beth’s story and a good one it is.

James has always been a speak when spoken to young man. He is now 20 and lives with Callum and his brothers in Scotland to learn first hand how to run an estate. When he turns 21, the family fortune will be turned over to him along with the home, Belvedere. His uncle Richard has been acting as steward since James’ parents were killed in an auto accident.

On a business trip with Callum to London, Callum finds the love of his life, Mattie and she is accompanied by her best friend. James finds Beth startling in both looks and actions. As usual, he is tongue tied and shy. He has had no experience with women. One of the biggest problems in his life is the stipulation that he must be married by his 21st birthday, which is just months away, or he can’t inherit. Uncle Richard has a list of women for him to choose from, but he wants to marry for love, not money. Since Beth seems so intriguing, he starts texting her and finally works up the nerve to invite her to Callum’s for a weekend. Since Mattie is coming anyway, it’s a perfect arrangement.

Does anything ever goes as planned in a love story? Of course not. This is where the story gets to the “I can’t put it down” stage. Uncle Richard is a tyrant. Beth and James are falling in love, but both have trust and love issues. James takes her to his family home, and she is shocked to find out he is a British Lord. Uncle Richard shows up with a “Bride” and they must flee the manor and go back to Scotland to try to solve the problems. This is a very fast paced love story with lots of action. Now, I’m waiting for book 3 and will have to read the novella. I love this author.

Oh how this book melted my heart. I knew by the end of Storm the Castle (Book 1 in the series) that I was going to love James and Beth and Jolie didn’t disappoint.

Beth and James are polar opposites. She’s a former foster child working two jobs to get by and help out her foster mum and he’s heir to a fortune and a title. However, they both have suffered great personal tragedies and both carry the weight of the world on their shoulders.

I felt a connection with Beth from the very beginning and it’s very clear that it would have been easy for her to veer down the path of criminality she was brought up in during her early years. Her love and thankfulness towards her foster mother and the way she still looks out for her, even after she’s left the care system, is beautiful and conveys perfectly the loving and grateful person she is.

James is a man who has been groomed his entire life to inherit a title, but, after becoming an orphan in the most tragic of circumstances, his care was taken over by a selfish and entitled uncle. His parent’s deaths left a young James to carry the burden of blame into adulthood and we see from his first encounter with Beth that his scars run much deeper than the physical ones he still bears.

I had some serious audible Aww moments while reading this book and I will admit that at one point I shed a small tear (just a small one, honest). Both of their back stories left them with space in their hearts for each other and I smiled so hard when they got their HEA. That’s not to say that the universe didn’t put obstacles in their way, but eventually their love and understanding for each other won.

Ms Vines you outdid book 1 with this and I didn’t think that was possible. Now I worry for my heart when I read book 3. Thank you for writing such beautiful and touching love stories.

Slàinte mhath Jolie, a toast to your great success. x

Good

This is the second book in the Marry the Scot series, and the McRae family saga. It features the best friends of the couple from the first book, and though it can be read alone, it works best if read as part of the series.
James is staying with the McRae’s to learn a little about estate management. He’s the twenty year old Earl, heir to a stately home, and a victim of a controlling and abusive uncle.
Beth is a twenty-two year old working class girl with a criminal history. Orphaned at eight, she spends most of her money trying to help out her overburdened foster mother.
When the two meet sparks fly!

In this enjoyable tale, we see two wounded souls becoming the people they were meant to be.
James is a strong, silent type, who struggles to find the words to say things. In meeting Beth, he finds both his voice, and the will to stand up to his controlling uncle.
Beth is afraid of abandonment, never engaging in deeper relationships if she can help it. In meeting James, she finds someone she just doesn’t want to let go.
There are a number of trials and tribulations to the relationship, but with excellent pacing, a tiny bit of angst, and a hero and heroine who keep going in spite of it all, it works out into an absorbing read.
If you’ve enjoyed Jolie Vines’ other books, or you’re a fan of contemporary romances with strong heroes and equally strong heroines, then you’ll enjoy this book.

My first read in the series. Good writing, with some high drama brought on by a first-class villain in the family and some cold fish employers. The romantic leads, high speed loving Beth and mega rich orphan James, had great backstories. I was first attracted to the story because of the mention of a Scot (he's actually only half Scot, but I won't hold that against him!), but their budding romance and his looming ⏳ deadline for meeting his inheritance requirements made up for the fact that most of the action takes place in England. Plus, in a cute twist, it's the hero who's a new kid on the block when it comes to romance and intimacy and he's actually a bit younger than his dream girl. Despite his inexperience, things heat up at a brisk pace and lovers of steamy scenes will not be disappointed as this one waits a bit but then ...😉

This is a full story, no cliffhanger, but the end hints at the direction of the next book in the series. I look forward to seeing more of these characters, Scots or not, as the series continues.😊

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

This is the second book in the Marry the Scot series. This could be read as a standalone but I have read the first book and loved it as well. This book is about James and Beth., both of these characters have some things to move past or resolve and what better way than to twist up a story to see it all unfold. James is pretty quiet guy and he currently resides at McRae castle and is watching and learning about running an estate from Callum. James needs to get married by the age of 21 in order to inherit his family's country estate. This is currently being run by his Uncle Richard. James has accepted he will marry for convenience and that will be that. Beth is Mattie's friend and she and James hit it off, as in Beth agrees to a one night stand. Beth has a few things of her own to work through as well. This whole story begins to unfold as these two characters realize that the one night stand thing is not applicable here and both characters want more with each other but how can they go about getting there? Can both of them open up and openly voice their thoughts or opinions ? This was a very entertaining read and I cannot wait to read more in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an ARC from hidden Gems.

James is a perfect example of "still waters run deep"

The weight of the world sits on James' shoulders, and the only thing that brightens him is the unpredictable force of nature named Beth. As these opposites get to know each other and figure out how their hearts and lives perfectly entwine, they fall in love with each other almost as fast as we fall in love with them.

This is a fabulous second published book by this author, who demonstrates a clear talent for writing witty banter, situational humor, and heartfelt emotions while building an epic love story on top of it all. You'll feel like you're right in the midst of it all in this captivating story, one with a surprisingly triumphant HEA that neatly leads into the next couple's story. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I loved the second instalment in this series. We hear James and Beth's story this time, who we first met in Storm the Castle. James just pulls at your heartstrings as we get to know why he doesn't speak much and it's up to Beth to show him that she needs him as much as he needs her even though it doesn't seem like it. I love that Beth is full of confidence and goes for what she wants, including James, even if it does seem like he's out of her league. I love that the author brought in characters from the previous book, even though this could be read as a stand alone. If you've never tried one of Jolie's books then I'd definitely give them a go, they're well worth it.
