Phantoms in High Fidelity

Rate this book
An unknown evil is lurking in Blackwood Bay, and this time the suspect list includes more than just the living…

Life in Blackwood Bay is looking up for recent transplant and new witch, Dru Rathmore Davis. She’s settled into running her bookstore, growing closer with her coven, and has finally acknowledged her feelings for her Guardian, handsome local police sergeant, Wolf Harper. So when the crew of a wildly popular paranormal investigation TV show comes to town, she wants no part of it.

But when the star of the TV show disappears without a trace, more than one person is begging Dru for help.

It seems the Sterling Castle Hotel is a desirable destination for spirits. A place where the living and the dead coexist in a world of luxury. It should be easy enough to solve the case of the missing man with so many potential witnesses, but Dru quickly discovers that something is very wrong with the spirits that occupy the hotel.

As Dru stumbles upon a web of lies, jealousy, heartbreak, and shocking obsession, she realizes she may have put herself in the crosshairs of a sinister force she’s not prepared to deal with… and one that will kill to keep its darkest secrets hidden.

This is Book 3 in this lovely paranormal cozy series.
We are still following the lovely Dru; she is still learning her abilities while running her Grandmothers' book store.
In this story we have a team of Ghost Hunters who have come to town.
They have checked into one of Ms Sinclair's Castle hotel as they want to debunk some stories; especially the stories of the locked room on Floor 3.
This is where the chaos and shenanigans begin.
This is such a wonderful story filled with twists, humour, ghost and loads of fun.
I love the characters and the story is just wonderful.
Really wonderful read and highly recommend!

I received an ARC from the lovely author and this is my honest voluntary review.

A TV crew turned up in town, with the Supernatural Sleuths in tow. They were investigating the Sterling Hotel, an old castle re-vamped into a fancy hotel because there had been reports of hauntings and other supernatural shenanigans. The only problem was that both the presenters, Doug and Paulie were sceptics and convinced that there was more foul play than ghosts. But that was before Doug spent the night in the unnumbered locked room and disappeared.

Dru was drafted in to find Doug and to restore the reputation of Sterling Hotel but it was not easy to do so when you cannot use your magic because the TV cameras were on you 24/7. I really enjoyed this latest instalment of Dru, her Granny, Mum, familiar and friends. I like Granny's sense of humour and Peaches caring ways, Chief Carver.....oh, all of them! Although it can be read as a standalone, you will enjoy it all the more if you had followed the back story of the different characters. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

As always, I loved this latest book in the Blackwood Bay Witches series. The crew of a paranormal investigation TV show has turned up in town to look into the Sterling Castle Hotel, which is know by locals to be haunted. One of the crew goes missing. Dru is called in to help, in spite of the fact that she doesn't like or trust the owner of the hotel. However, the owner is willing to pay a lot of money for her help. Dru is a witch and a powerful one at that. She can and does talk to ghosts, but that is not a well known fact, and she knows that the hotel is full of ghosts who seem to happily co-exist with the living. Just when Dru and Harper are getting close and are to go out on a date, the TV reporter who is covering the disappearance story turns out to be police sergeant Wolf Harper's ex-girlfriend. When you throw in a love spell gone wrong, strange acting spirits, a long standing mystery and a harpy of an ex-girlfriend, then you have a great story.

I think this is probably the best book in the series! This isn’t really surprising as the series builds on the previous stories and that is how it ought to play out.
I love Misty’s writing style as she develops the story. It keeps the readers attention and the pages just fly by. At the conclusion I am looking forward to the next book and the experiences that will await Dru.

This series really is one I would heartily recommend to all those who like supernatural persons and an enjoyable read. I would suggest that you start at the beginning with On a Witch and a Spell and proceed up to Phantoms. You won’t want to miss anything as the story and the characters develop.

It is a real pleasure to settle down with a good book and this series is very good! I invite you to enjoy this series with me. I believe you will find new friends in this series that you won’t want to miss!

The unnumbered room

Terrific as always. A nice plot of a missing person, a murder and ghosts. Plenty of ghosts. Loved the characters from the overbearing reporter to the snide remarking Gran. All of them mixed together to make this a feast of reading.
A team of ghost hunters come into town and bring chaos in their wake. From hoards of fans to a missing star. Then there's the overbearing reporter who Harper is suddenly besotted with. What is the secret of the unnumbered room? Why are there grey ghosts around? Why is Harper so bemused by the reporter? Spells, ghosts, someone out to make a name for themselves at the expense of others and time travel. Will the missing man be found? Will he be alive? Who killed the dead man? Will Harper always be besotted and if so with whom?

Misty Bane has written another hilarious mystery about Dru a new witch with a need to solve mysteries all with the help of her new coven and her deceased grandmother all while trying to navigate a new romance.

Dru has had to learn allot of new things since inheriting her grandmothers bookstore one of which is that she is a witch one who comunicates with the dead. But now there is a group of ghost hunters and a nosey rude reporter looking into the local Sterling Castle Hotel theres truble and danger brewing so many ghosts a mystery room with no number someone import missing. And a dead man this may be Dru most dangerous investigation yet.

Disappointing

After really enjoying the first two novels and the two shorts for this series, I was really looking forward to this book. What a disappointment. The plot seemed forced and the story drug until near the end. There were large sections where the writing felt rushed and was extremely sloppy. There were a lot of typos and/or grammatical errors., many more than in the other book combined. Not to mention outright mistakes, like when Doug looked around for Doug. He should have been looking for Paulie. Hopefully, this is a one off and the fourth book will be back to the standards of the previous stories. Otherwise, I will probably drop the series.

Sweet series

This is a sweet series, Dru is learning her powers and running her granny’s bookstore but maybe using her friends more than she should! When a supernatural debunking show turn up to one of Ms Sinclair's Castle hotel to debunk the stories, especially the stories of the locked room on the 3rd floor!! Then the main host goes missing and more importantly Hunter starts acting strange around an ex girlfriend!! Queue Dru and co, some strange ghosts and a bit of time... A quick read with some great little twists!! I'm looking forward to the next one!

When a TV Paranormal Show crew come to town to try and find out if the Castle Hotel is haunted and why is there a sealed room and why. Cheris wants Dru to come to the hotel and see what she can find, if anything, but she really doesn't want any part of it and with Harper not acting quite like his normal self that doesn't help Dru's frame of mind either. There are a good many twists in this book and the end if so exciting that Misty Bane just won't be able to write the next book fast enough to satisfy my curiosity of what is coming next. Great story Misty.

Extraordinarily entertaining Series

And entertaining series with a great cast of characters. A witchy cozy mystery series set in a coastal Washington town we’re young girl who is a private eye with her father in Vegas inherits her grandmothers little bookstore and curio shop. Where she finds out she is a witch. Follow along as her and her friends find trouble and solve mysteries and murders. Lots of humor with pop culture references thrown in every so often. Oh yeah by the way her grandmothers ghost is still around to teach her how to become a witch.

A haunted castle and a love potion gone awry!

This is the third book in the Blackwood Bay series and they just keep getting better! A paranormal tv show has come to Blackwood Bay to debunk the claims that the castle is haunted. Little do they know! Between the bickering cast and Harper's ex-girlfriend trying to make a name for herself will things ever get back to "normal"? Such a fun book!

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Another fun installment

They keep getting better, these books.

I love the combination of humor, the paranormal, and mystery. There were hilarious moments! Imaginative and highly entertaining. I love Dru! I love Dru’s grandmother as a ghost. She’s my favorite. Granny could carry a series on her own. I just love her to bits!

This is a terrific series and if you like paranormal cozy mysteries you’ll love this one!

Phantoms in High Fidelity

Dru Davis is a witch of immeasurable power. This adventure focuses on the arrival of a group of "ghost buster" types with a huge fan base. One of the members of the group goes missing while another is murdered. Harper suddenly appears to be in love with an old flame. Read the book to learn the details of these and so many more issues!
I've enjoyed this series although this not my favorite of the three I've read.

Spooky!

When a paranormal investigator goes missing at a haunted hotel, Dru is asked to help find out what happened.
Some odd goings on in this one, Harper was a bit of a jerk, Dru had some interesting adventures, and the mystery of the weird ghosts at the hotel is finally explained.
A cute cozy paranormal mystery series, with engaging characters, for fans of cozy mysteries with a little magic included!

Liar,liar, ex girlfriend begone!

A haunted castle by Blackwood Bay is selected by a group of ghosthunters. They plan to make their stay more dramatic by having one of the group disappear in the middle of the night. A nasty lady from a news station shows up, and throw in a love potion, a murder, a castle full of ghosts. Have fun reading.

A ghost hunters show has descended upon the town and Dru’s bookstore is packed! Then one of the ghost hunters disappears in the haunted hotel and Dru is asked to come in and help find him by talking to the spirits that live there. I absolutely love Peaches expressions when she’s telling someone off. So funny! I highly recommend this book and series! I received an arc for an honest review.

This is the third book in the Blackwood Bay Witches paranormal series. It's a fun read with witches, ghosts and shape shifters. Dru is coming along as a new witch and we get to learn all about it with her. It kept my interest and moved along at a good pace right to the end. I look forward to the next book.

I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Best story in the series so far! Dru is coming into her own as witch when a gaggle of TV paranormal investigators arrive to stir things up. Underhanded plots, spells gone awry, a wounded heart, a murder and a bit of destiny altering heroics really jazz up this installment. Humorous, intriguing and wholly entertaining.

Loved this book! Great characters and lots of danger.

Dru Rathmore Davis is a witch who runs a bookstore in Blackwood Bay and is attracted to her Guardian, local cop Wolf Harper.

When a star of a paranormal investigation TV show disappears at the haunted Sterling Castle Hotel, Dru is asked to help investigate. Dru puts herself in danger as she tries to find the 'star of the show' and comes across lies and secrets.

Wow!

An intricate story with twist and turns as the series progresses. She always ends on a high note, if not a funny little twist. I won't spoil the book, but the cozy series is fun and endearing. A must read.

I enjoyed this witchy cozy mystery. This time a TV ghost-hunting show comes to town. The writing is fresh and skillful. The plot is tight and multi-layered with no cliff-hangers. I’m looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.

This is probably my favorite so far. I was at first really upset with Harpers behavior but you soon realize something is very wrong with him, just not what. Dru takes it in stride and does her job and then turns around and returns Harper to his former self. So great!!!

Very Good!

Our novice witch, Dru, has a problem when a love potion is given to Wolf instead of someone else! Dru is not the object of his love and she is very unhappy! This is a side issue to finding a murderer and dealing with an invasion of ghost hunters( debunker) into town!
