Enough.
Reading the synopsis of this book, I thought I knew what I was getting into. I was quickly proven wrong.
“God deals you a hand of cards. You can either play them or you can fold them but either way, it’s the only hand you are going to get.”
This quote from the book is the resounding theme of the entire story. When all things are considered, it is you, ultimately, that makes your own happiness.
This story is raw and, sadly, more real than most readers would probably like to acknowledge. It’s a chronicle of wrong choices, heartbreak, suffering and struggle. But it is also a tale of love and perseverance - one that proves things can still be bright even after the darkest of days.
Enough is a tremendously powerful story that shows how people can be strong when there seems to be no hope left. The main character Everly - wife, mother - puts everyone’s needs before her own because she’s convinced that is the only way she can validate her worth. And while Enough focuses primarily on her journey, it also touches on those around her who are dealing with their own feelings of inadequacy.
This story is about self love and how that self love not only changes one’s own perspective, but radiates outwardly to others as well.
This story is about family.
This story is about life.
Dawn L. Chiletz is a truly talented author and I never have doubts when cracking open any of her books. When reading this one, however, readers will be able to tell that Enough is something that Chiletz has reached, dug and pulled from deep down within her soul. It’s meaningful, layered and perceptive. You fight Everly’s fight right alongside with her, page after page, and root for her to get what she really deserves - the one true love that makes the most difference - her own love for herself.
If you want a read that is deep and insightful and thought provoking, this book will do the trick.
If I could give it more than five stars, I would. This is definitely a ten star book!
