This was definitely a book that is unlike anything I’ve devoted time to in the past. It was highly educational and pretty broad in its topics. I knew little to nothing about most art history prior to reading The Metropolitan Museum of Art Guide, but really enjoyed learning more. It was especially nice to read after having visited the museum but not having had the time to see “everything” which is to be expected when it is such a large collection. I would have liked to know the history behind how some of the none American works were procured, museums like this give off some very strong looted-art vibes and I will be doing more research into that and what their history of repatriation is like.
