A practical starting point for Christians to share the hope of Jesus with Muslims. Since September 11th, 2001, relationships between Christians and Muslims have been defined by fear. Increasing violence in the Middle East has caused Islam to be associated with persecution and terrorism and has led many Christians to view Muslims as the enemy. But the Bible provides clear instruction to move past fear and share the Gospel with all peoples, including Muslims. Every Christian can be an ambassador of Christ to Muslims, even without becoming an expert on Islam. In Sharing Jesus with Muslims , Fouad Masri encourages Christians to set aside fear, excuses, and differences and share the good news of Jesus. Rich with stories and conversation starters, the book gives readers tangible and respectful ways to initiate friendships and minister to the felt needs of Muslims. Sharing Jesus with Muslims serves as a step-by-step guide for effective witnessing, and Void of judgement or guilt trips, pastors, ministry leaders, and everyday Christians will find their relationships with Muslims enhanced by the principles in this book. Pick up Sharing Jesus with Muslims and discover the joy of serving and relating to Muslims.
As a full-time missionary, I have encountered (and even presented) a lot of trainings and tools about witnessing to Muslim people, and this book is the most encouraging resource I've seen yet. The author begins with the "whys" of sharing the gospel with Muslims — or anyone else — and keeps that focus throughout the book. There is plenty of accessible information about Islam and Muslim culture in the book to help unfamiliar readers understand the worldviews, beliefs, and issues common to Muslim people, and Masri does present apologetic and practical advice and experience, but the main point is to exhort the ordinary Christian to trust and obey the Lord by partnering with Him in His zeal to reach people whom He loves. And it all starts with cultivating caring and welcoming relationships to build bridges and share the uniqueness of Christ and the good news of His love and salvation. I loved it.
Fouad Masri gives Christians a wonderful resource as we show love and share Christ with our Muslim friends. This is not a "silver bullet" approach, but as Masri shares more than once, ways to speak truth through conversations that point to Jesus. This is a helpful book for those at all levels of understanding of Islam, and his 55 Seconds for Change at the end of each chapter provides a pause for the reader to reflect on what's been shared and internalize it for future use.
The importance of conversation is also reflected in Masri's many accounts of personal times of sharing with Muslims around the world. Whether on an airplane, a university campus, or in a coffee shop, he demonstrates that the Lord opens opportunities for speaking into the lives of Muslims for the cause of Christ. It's all about spreading the seeds of the gospel, sharing the Word of God when the door is open, and letting God bring the increase. Nothing is forced in Masri's style nor should it be in ours.
A recommended read for all Christ-followers who love Muslims.
This is an easy to read, well written primer on sharing the Gospel with the Muslims around you. The admonitions to share Christ and the principles involved are the same as in every other book about sharing your faith. But the specific applications to sharing with Muslims are most interesting and helpful. There is a much good cultural information to help Christians understand and build solid, respectful, and lasting relationships with the Muslims they know. If you care about the Muslim people around you, this book is a great help to start loving them to the Savior.
A phenomenal and much needed book. I will be reading Masri's other books and I encourage fellow Christians to do the same. The harvest is plentiful, but as always the workers are few.
Excellent book. Very well written and laid out. Step by step ways to communicate. It was a very good read. I learned so much from this book. Well done!
