This was a very good book. It goes through each section of the body and tells you how you can use it for God. She shares many exiting, embarrassing stories and lets you know that God created you in HIS image. I couldn't put it down!
Do you ever read a book that you wish you could give to a younger you? I wish I could give this book to 8th grade me. What a great quick read on finding your worth and beauty in being Imago Dei rather than societal standards.
always a pleasure to spend time with miss downs. i’d happily give to youth group girls and/or nieces if they need a dose of gentle truth and a perspective on their body that goes beyond them.
that said, a good 4 hours of reminders for my decade-past-teenage mind and heart too 🤍
I really enjoyed this book and feel like I would’ve gotten 10x more out of it if I would have read it as a younger teenager or at the beginning of my college career. There were still so many wonderful sections in this book and it’s a quick read!!
Honestly, there should be a subtitle in capitol letter saying “Read only if you’re a christian and you deeply love God and if you think loving yourself should be a result of loving God”. I thought I picked just another self help book about self-love, but this is a book about religious love, with biblical quotes every other page. As an atheist, is quite annoying. A part from this religious side of the book, that doesn't make it a book for everyone, it lacks deepness and I would say that the main concepts could be taught in Sunday school.
I wish I had this book when I was a teen or in my early twenties, but the words spoke to me in my early thirties in a way I may have needed even more. Learning to love your body, using what you’ve been given to glorify God, and treating your body and your mind with respect and love because God loves you just as you are all are messages everyone needs. I needed the reminders in this book, and I read it at the perfect time. “Perfectly Unique” reads like a letter to a friend, and would benefit any woman (young, old, or in between).
This book was a lesson on reading the entire synopsis. Because it clearly says in the synopsis that this book is very heavily religious, and yet I didn’t read that far into the description and thus was surprised. That being said, although it was a little heavy on religion for me, I liked almost everything she said. Unexpected, but I quite enjoyed this. I’ll take a lot of what she said with me and hopefully become a better version of myself because of some of her tips.
i know it took me a long time to read this book but i read it multiple times to really grasp the meaning of this heartfelt book. this book helped to realize how to love myself and that without self love i cant get very far. this taught me how to love myself without changing a thing that i do, how to recognize the amazing things i do and how i make a difference in the world. i definitely recomend this book for young teens to adults who are struggling with self worth.
I love you so much Annie for writing this beautiful book. I didn’t know how badly I needed to hear the advice you gave. Reading whatever Annie had to say felt like she was an older sister of mine, felt so comforting. I would read this book and school and giggle and the little and actually FUNNY jokes she made throughout the book making me look crazy haha. This book felt like a hug 🫶 I will never forget that I have read this book—changed me for a lifetime.
I am an Annie fan. Her books for me are simple but effective reminders that God is good, God loves us and it’s okay to be a “mess” in the eyes of ourselves and maybe even others but God loves us anyway. These books remind me personally that as long we we follow our faith and Gods path, we are perfect in our flaws.
