I loved this book! If you interact with any humans in your life, you can glean wisdom from this book. Written from the perspective of a Christian counselor, it was a great read with value for anyone (and if you are a counselor, it includes tips for in the field). It was refreshing to read a new perspective on what the Bible says for living. It helped me gain a deeper understanding of the roles of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and me! Topics include how to approach truth, pain, love, discipline, wisdom, living according to the Spirit, sin, and seeing sin as a growth step. I ended up thinking about these things differently and on a deeper level than I ever had before.

One interesting quote from the book: "When we accept discipline for [our struggles/external problems], we obtain wisdom on dealing with them and support for resolving them. Ultimately, they mature and are no longer issues."

How do you write a review of a dictionary? That’s the question that came to mind as I was trying to write this review. Gamestorming: A Playbook for Innovators, Rulebreakers, and Changemakers is sort of a dictionary, but instead of words, it’s designed to provide definition to the games we play when we’re working to solve hard problems. It’s been in my library for some time now, but other than flipping through it from time to time, I had never really made my way through it. That’s likely for the same reason most people don’t read the dictionary cover to cover: you just don’t process the information that way.

"We want to know our faith and the major biblical doctrines. We want to know what the Bible says about itself, God, and the spiritual life. And we want to know what in the world these things have to do with our real lives. We want spirituality to be practical and real, from dealing with marital problems to overcoming difficulties reaching our goals, from dealing with depression to disciplining our children. We want God and real life to come together...
When you put God and his doctrines together with the struggles of your life, you will find that growth in both your faith and your life has no boundaries."

Read on Hoopla, but planning on buying a hard copy so that I can digest the truths again.

short review: Yet again, I wrote my original review for this book at work on a staff computer. Yes, I need to stop doing that. I do remember that is was one of my favourite books of 2020, though, and that it was the book on spiritual growth that I wish I'd had earlier in my life. It also helped me articulate a lot of concepts that I was working through with some friends at the time. Highly recommended.
