Rate this book
Growing up can be tough, and sometimes you just need a big sister to help you through it. In Believe in You , the six Cimorelli sisters share their experiences and accumulated wisdom on everything from dating and friendship to faith and family. As Christina, Katherine, Lisa, Amy, Lauren and Dani tour the world with their music and read their social media messages, they meet and hear from thousands of girls sharing their hearts. Now, in Believe in You , the sisters are connecting with young women who have the same concerns. The teen years may be difficult, confusing, awkward and scary, but it's a lot better when you have someone to go to for advice and some positive, encouraging words. Reading Believe in You is like receiving a big hug and the assurance that you never, ever have to try to change who you genuinely are to be like someone else. You are amazing and unique!

i liked this book, i did, but i had a lot of problems with it. the advice they were giving was all pretty much the same from each of them, and was already redundant because i’d heard almost all of it from them already, from their podcast, videos, tweets or instagram stories. i felt like this book was really unnecessary, especially when they made the new podcast series about this book and talked about it AGAIN. i also found it really preachy, especially from christina - and i think this was enhanced because i listened to it on audiobook. there were moments when it wasn’t really advice, but it came off more as “if you’re not doing this you’re a bad person” especially in her part of the purity section of the relationship chapter. this might have just been me, though. the last thing i had a problem with was the bible verses and religious teachings sprinkled throughout. i skipped the chapter about having a relationship with god because it isn’t something i’m interested in, and then there were bible verses in every section of every chapter and i think that was very unnecessary. this is not a book about religion, and i felt like it was being pushed down my throat.

however, i did like a lot about this book, too. i especially enjoyed katherine’s take on the purity section. she gave her views without shaming others, and was very respectful when talking about other people’s life choices. she taught to set boundaries because you want to and not because you feel like you’re being forced to. i loved the family chapter, it made me cry. while i haven’t fixed things with my family, it has gave me the courage to start being more honest with them.

i did like this book but i would not recommend it to anyone who has consumed any of their other content.

This book is for sure for teenagers and not twenty-somethings, even though almost all of the girls who wrote the book are in their 20’s! It wasn’t what I expected and much more preachy than how they seem in their videos. Also I can’t imagine anyone being interested in this book who hasn’t already watched their videos- they didn’t do much to introduce themselves as individuals and who is who. It makes me wonder why they even wrote it? I thought I would hear more about their lives but it was filled generic advice and recycled stories. I didn’t finish it.

this wasn't the best advice book i've ever read, but i love Cimorelli, so i knew i had to read it. i was super happy that they were able to talk about God, even if that wasn't the main topic of the book!

Very cute easy but uplifting read. I felt like it was more geared towards teens or early twenty year olds, but it was still a nice read for me as a 33 year old. Lots of quotable words of advice, great reflections, nice sisterly stories and memories, and a few bible verses dispersed through the book. Makes me feel more positive and at peace with myself and my life. Nice to know I'm not alone and I am worthy. Nothing complex or new to read about, but still refreshing to read and be reminded how to live my best life.

Quotes...if you are interested. (Some of these I resonated with, that are hard for me to do in reality...):

-"...the only person who can choose your standards is you - so give yourself a break...Stop judging yourself all the time, and start being compassionate with yourself! Treat yourself the way you would treat a friend." pg 3
-"'You are going to get it done either way--stressed or relaxed--so why not just get it done without being stressed?'" pg 5
-"Do not simply write out a random list of things you are grateful for. Instead, write out something along the lines of "I am grateful that..." Then write out "THANK YOU!" a few times until you are really aware that you are grateful for what you've written." pg 16
-"And that's what God is to me: peace. He's an overwhelming sense of joy, a safe place. I don't have to be perfect, because I am accepted, appreciated, wanted, cherished, and loved by Him at all times." pg 24
-"Sometimes we can get caught up in how people view us or think about us, but when we are looking for friends or a relationship, we have the right to focus first on whether we like the person--not just whether she likes us." pg 44
-"The only way to get out of a rut is to try new things! Start growing again. Force yourself out of the passive state... real friendships can start when we engage with life." pg 47
-"Just do it. Stop overthinking everything, and stop thinking everyone hates you... You have so much to offer this world and so much to offer a friend, so be confident." pg 47
-"Making friends is all about courage. So feel the fear and get in there!" pg 50
-"Deep issues come up on a regular basis. But the difference is that now we talk about what we are going through. We rally together to support whoever is struggling. The result is imperfect but filled with love." pg 100
-Replacing negative thoughts with positive:
"I can't do anything right"...replace with- "I'm allowed to make mistakes. I learn from them and get better everyday."
..."I am courageous and brave" "I am learning to love my body" "Tomorrow is always a fresh start, I will keep going" "I am making friends. I am friendly, and people like me!" "I will keep trying until I can do this." pg 143
-"You have to trust yourself.... you don't have to have everything figured out. Just take it one step at a time, and live the life you love." pg 145
-"When you find things that make your heart happy and give you a great gut feeling--and that bring good into this world--hold on to them tightly and never give up on them." pg 147
-"Try stuff out, fail a couple of times, learn some lessons, and find yourself." pg 148
-"Believe in yourself so much it makes other people believe in you." pg 149
-"When you base your goals and dreams on a good intention and a positive plan, you give yourself your best shot at making something happen." pg 154
-"We are all called to be leaders in one way or another. You may not see yourself as a leader, but you have what it takes to be one in your own way." pg 175
-"Know that your best is enough" pg 175
-"...no one else can be a better you than YOU!" pg 176

I should start off by saying that I am absolutely not the target audience for this book. This book is 100% for teenagers, but I've listened to Cimorelli in the past and am closest in age to the oldest sister, so I thought why not pick this one up!?

This book had a lot of great advice for young girls- if I ever have a daughter this would be a good book for them to read as they approach the teen years (woof). This book talks about everything from dating and friends to faith and family. I do wish this book would have been more about the Cimorelli girls' lives with individual stories, but a lot of the advice felt a little generic and repetitive. I really love how Cimorelli loves to build one another up and their positive outlooks on life, but I think I just wanted MORE from their book. Again, I am not their target audience and I think that plays a big role in how I viewed this book.

I highly recommend this book for young female readers!

Goodness. I wish I had this book in middle school and high school! Even at 27, I got so much encouragement out of this book. I listened on audio, while following the words, because each sister reads what she wrote. I plan to go back throughout the book to do the journal topics and prayers.

This was an inspiring read! Although geared toward teenage girls, I (34 years old) still enjoyed it. Lots of positivity about relationships, confidence in yourself, and faith in God.

These girls are amazing!!!
I’m from Belgium and it cost me 80 euros (b-post in belgium cost a lot, the book doesn’t cost that much) so I could read this book I don’t regret it because it really helpt me. There is a lot of advise in this book. I am almost 18 but I think this book can be for young and old people. I really connect with the girls because of this book. I connect the most with Lauren because I have a similar character. But they are just all amazing. So buy the book because it’s amazing, it’s worth it, it will help you to make decisions, it will help you with relationships with yourself, God, Boys.... it will help you a lot. You can read this book multiple times because it’s so amazing, you will never get bored. I don’t like to read but this is my favorite book ever. Just buy it, you will not regret it.

Yikes. This should be named "He Believes in You. Advice on How To Live A Life Following Gods Wants And Needs."

And 40 minutes out of a 3 hours long audio book just about how God wants you to save your body for Him ... God I've never been this happy not to be religious. Literally every single thing in life was justified by Gods wants and needs and how you have to give Him back so much since He gifted you life. I feel like I need the opposite of an exorcism now where somebody plants a demon inside of me just to get the Jesus talk out of my brain.

1 star because they motivated me to start budgeting.

Oh my gosh I cannot tell you how much these girls have accomplished. Their book has really helped me in many ways. They give us perspective on their lives on different topics that they’ve wrote about. And something that they have done that really inspired me is they’ve wrote about things that no one has heard. They really open up to their audience and share that not everyone’s perfect. Oh and the tips they give are also very helpful. If you haven’t read it and you’re going through hard times Believe In You is really a great book to read.

I love this book! It’s not just a book though, it’s a advice giving, caring and thought provoking book in all of the bests and right ways! The refections and prayer at the end of each chapter have really helped me get back into the habit if praying for the simple things in life. I’ve been following these girls for a year now and this book has really made me feel connected to them in all the best ways, their own experiences and advice is what makes this book individual and a standout for me. I love you guys! <3

This was a beautifully written book with great insight from each of the girls of Cimorelli. Of course there were a few parts that were probably sugar coated and made safe for young readers but it is a great book to have and to open any time you need advice about yourself, faith, family, friends and guys. (Money too!) I was so happy to see another side of the Cimorelli sisters that we usually don’t see in videos.

this book is so so helpful, for all ages. I've read it multiple times and it's such good advice for a teenager like me. I've never had an older sister, only a twin so this book is kind of an older sister advice thing for me. everything you need, it's in there!! 💗😭😭 it taught me so much about setting up boundaries or personal stories that they themselves have been through and that really helps.

As a former fan of this band I didn't find it really interesting to listen to. Their first book was basically a shorter version of this one, so there was nothing new for me. Also, for someone who isn't religious it was sometimes quite boring. Although I really liked the audio format because of the genuine emotions in their voices.

This is a good book for young girls. It had advices that I would love to had when I was a teen. I like to see the elders sisters take on some subjects, like Christina and Katherine, since my personality is a mix of both of their and we’re close at age.
Hopefully it will be publish in other languages :)

To be fair it’s a good book of advice, however it is word for word the same as their other book ‚Lessons Learned‘ which was self-published. Big sister advice was published through a publisher and at no point during promo was it mentioned it’s basically the old book. That was disappointing…
