Tackling Him

Rate this book
I was Vegas-drunk, and I took a stupid bet: half a million bucks if I could get the hot guy across the bar to marry me. Little did I know he had ulterior motives of his own. When we got to know each other for real, sparks flew, but so did Cupid's arrow. Now it's all a mess.

Can we keep our love alive?

This was insta-love. However if I can have it, so can these guys even though it sounds more like insta-LUST (which I can understand a lot better). The footballer picks up a reporter in a bar. (No brain cells lost on either side as neither knows what the other does.) They go at it all night long, wake up refreshed and married and then Ms. Communication rears her ugly head but they work it out (wink, wink). Cute but highly improbable in my real world!

It started out ok and I thought I might actually like it, but by the time Travis and Ryan wound up in bed, it was all downhill from there. This was a game of who was more deceitful, Travis, who had a bet with his BFF Buck that he would we Ryan within a day, or Ryan, who really knew who Travis was and was in Vegas with his BFF Mike, to ensnare Travis in a scandal to sell a story to the gossip rags. So both playing games but yet we’re to believe that after one night they had genuine feelings for one another? Then after not speaking for a couple of weeks, the forgiveness comes way too easily.
So, even if I accepted that they loved each other, the two epilogues just ruined things again. I’m not sure how many gay friends this author has, but Travis’s epilogue was so ridiculously cliche and nothing like any gay wedding I know. Really, so because Ryan is the sexual bottom, he takes the role of a bride and walks down the aisle while his macho top plays groom and is waiting at the alter? Um, no! Not how it works. And then they immediately jump into a limo and head off on their honeymoon. Was there no reception for them to spend with all their family and friends present?
Ryan’s epilogue was cutesy and all, but we were given no indication of how far into the future it was so it felt disjointed from the rest of the story.

Nor working for me. I'm bored.
All the characters think about is how hot the other is and their body reaction, the zing of electricity, the staring eyes..

Had potential and I had no issue with the insta-love, but this veered wildly off the path of believability and just became a mess of no prep, too much body descriptive and plain sillyness.

My eyes are still rolling across the floor....
