Twisted Minds #5

Twisted Revelations

Rate this book

For years, Laura and I sat helplessly on the sidelines while our best friend Megan ran from a deadly cartel. When Megan went radio silent, and strange men came creeping out of the darkness, we feared that we’d landed in the cartel’s crosshairs. Our fears were answered when Laura was taken. Unable to depend on the law, desperation led me to reach out to a few unconventional sources for help.

Was it wrong of me to allow my mind to cross over my fears and linger on one of the men who’d agreed to help us?

Taken. They took the wrong one. Either they were going to let me go, or I’d make them kill me. Beverly’s call for help produced two mercenaries, so adept at killing that I wasn’t sure if we should’ve been running from them or the cartel that was chasing us.

How were we supposed to know that the men protecting us knew how to stoke the fires of hell and use the flames to burn it to oblivion?

This book is an interracial romance that contains graphic violence and strong sexual content. It is intended for adults. If you are easily offended or squeamish about harsh or demeaning language, murder, and violence, this is not the book for you.

Really!?

This was a decent read. I have read all of the twisted novels and I loved each one until now. Did this book really just end this way? I hope there is a part 2 because the way this book concluded has me wondering what the freak just happened and did KK really do that to us? As much as I loved this book I can't recommend it bc of the ending. The ending ruined it for me even though 99.1% of the book was really great. I had waited and hoped for Beverly' s and Laura's story. I knew they would get one bc they were too interesting not to have their own story; but to end it like this, with no hint of a possible book 2 coming is unacceptable. So, I really give this book 2.5 stars bc the ending ruined the rest of the book.

Well, I have finally gotten to the end of this series! As much as I hate to let these characters go, I must! The things that were revealed in this one, lawd! I knew that the ladies were tight, due to the commonality in their upbringing. But, to find out what they went through together was crazy as hell! That damn Laura is a spitfire and tough as nails! I loved her as much as she got on my nerves! Beverly was was the kind, sweet one, but she had some knife skills out of this world! Learning the backstories of Dax and Luke were intriguing as well as heartbreaking! I liked the coupling although Laura really was doing the most with Dax! I loved Beverly and Luke together, too adorable! But, what about D? I know the series is over, but he was so involved throughout, I would love to know more about him. Are we sure that all of DG6 has been eliminated? Hmmmm..... Really enjoyed this series, and looking forward to reading more from Ms. Kendric's catalog! 👍👍👍

Keta Kendric came out of nowhere and has made her mark within the IR Genre Game. This book is no exception, just another phenomenal read from a freshman author who knows how to tell a story that keeps you up until the wee hours of the morning.

Need something new to read, do yourself a favor and read the entire 'Twisted' Series!

Fire and Desire

When we were first introduced to these characters in previous books I just knew they needed their own stories. Only downside is I believe this should have been two books with Laura and Beverly having their own stories. Laura and Dax took up most of the book. I didn't mind the switch up between D and Luke when it came to Beverly. But I do think her and Luke's story was rushed through. Still it was worth the wait!

All twisted in Texas!

OMG! This was awesome! Keta Kendric has done it again. The Twisted Mind Series is white hot sexy! Each book keeps bringing the heat with sexy brooding alphas and black girl magic!
Dax showed up and showed out! If anybody could handle Laura, he can. For a minute I thought Derrick was going to hook up with Beverly, but I think Luke is perfect for her.
It’s good to see what was going on in Texas while Aaron, Megan and Ansel and Regina were holding court in Cali. I know this can’t be the end for these couples or the other Special Forces crew. Wonder what Kadeem has to say, especially since Dax knows how he may say she’s like a little sister but he doesn’t look at her like one.

A good read.

Unexpected twist, a behind-the-scenes look at what we didn't see. Beverly, Laura, and Megan were kindred spirits with a unique friendship. It would be interesting to know the rest of the story.

Soooo Goood!!!!

I absolutely love Laura and Beverly! Tough and feminine and smart all in one package. Although they hood raised, the hood did not take them down. Oh yeah I loved Dax and Luke too! A little confused about D but overall you can’t go wrong investing your time and money in this one!

Reading this was like watching a 3-hour Martin Scorsese film. After a while you're waiting for things to be wrapped up and come to an end. Mostly for me I just wanted to get off the merry-go-round of blood and violence. You're warned about it, and if you've read the previous books in this saga you knew what to expect, but for some reason this one just kind of bashes you, repeatedly, over the head with it, and when the situation would switch to the characters contemplating the others sanity and body parts, it was a short-lived reprieve.

I skipped over Twisted Obsession even though I highly anticipated Ansel's story since I fell in like with his crazy, funny arse. I downloaded the book, but I couldn't get myself to read past 9%. I don't know what it is when a side character I like gets their own book and their book ends up being a let down because the author does a total 180 personality change on them. Not saying that was the case with Ansel, but it seemed he couldn't go 30 seconds without wanting to put his dick in Regina and I need more than that to be engaged in a story. So seeing this release and that Megan's friends, Beverly and Laura would the star of the show, I dug in.

I liked Laura but at times she got on my nerves. In a way she was a hood Mary Sue. A killer in her own right who's an excellent shot, has a foul mouth, brilliant mind and so pretty everyone she encounters wants a piece of her. Tougher than teflon, and angrier than a hive of bees. I knew before reading she had a very abusive past and getting those details, I understood the source of her anger, but at times it was over the top. She was inevitably paired with Dax, the rich assassin who hailed from the loins of affluent parents. He and Laura shared a bloodthirsty passion for well, spilling blood, and eventually turn one another out, a complicated feat considering Laura was a devout lesbian, though there'd be a point where I doubted the validity of that in an almost Lady Macbeth 'the lady doth protest too much' kind of way. Dax got under her defenses that she allowed herself to investigate their attraction.

Beverly was the sweeter of the two but deadly with a knife. Chick knew just where to make a man bleed. Beverly was a pretty straightforward character, harboring her own secrets of a past littered with bodies. I do have a nitpick when it comes to her, and its the fact that Beverly was described as being dark skinned but she has, and wait for it, green eyes. *face palm*. I don't know if its an unconscious need to make heroines look physically exotic or what, but the trend of giving light colored eyes to dark skinned black women, I'm beyond annoyed by it at this point. What is wrong with dark brown eyes, writers??? And even if a character is described as having brown eyes, they're the lightest shade of brown with some gold and green thrown in, not making them technically hazel, but brown enough. SMH. Beverly's rare eye color aside, she held her own when she was given time to shine.

Unfortunately that time to shine only encompassed maybe 30% of the book. The first 63% was told almost exclusively from Dax and Laura's POV with a chapter here and there told from Beverly and D's POV. They were pretty much an afterthought. Once the major threat after Bev and Laura was eliminated, and I saw how much story was left to be told, I wasn't a hundred percent convinced they had gotten rid of every DG6 leader/underling/what have you. Things switched to primarily being about Bev and her love interest, a character who came out of nowhere with D being pushed to offpageville. He got the shaft but I wasn't even mad at it because I had no emotional investment in him, which was unfortunate.

So that brings me to the man who would be Bev's love interest. I liked Luke right away. There's something about gentle giants that does it for me. He was another tortured hero who was secretly desperate for an emotional connection. Regrettably, by the time he rolled on the scene, violence fatigue had set in and my attention waned. Twisted Revelations would have been better off being broken into two books since Laura and Dax dominated so much of the content, Bev's love story and the 'revelation' was rushed that it didn't have any real impact.

As far as the fate of DG6, I'm so tired of them. If Ms. Kendric is continuing this series I hope its with a new enemy, although there were a few loose ends that weren't completely tied up. If the war between the August Knights and DG6 isn't over I'm not sure I'm going to continue. I think Ms. Kendric is a good writer, so I'd like to see her take on new characters with a new agenda and definitely new blood to spill. Sounds morbid but yeah, that's where I'm at.

Twisted revelations had so many secrets

The secrets revealed could have gotten them all killed. DG6 Wanted them all dead, especially Regina, Megan, Laura and Beverly and they would stop at nothing to make that happen. Just when they thought they were free and clear from the threats, Laura and Beverly, along with their protectors Luke and Dax found themselves in danger again and again.

With the best friends, Laura and Beverly being in close proximity to good looking and virile assassins, things started happening. Laura found herself doing something she thought that she would never in a million years find her self doing. She was attracted to a man. Dax Marchand was one man she could not resist, and she was one woman that affected Dax in a way that no other woman had. His problem was that he had to convince her of that.

Beverly and Lucas Bradshaw were just the opposite. They were immediately attracted to each other and were determined to do what was needed to stay together. They all had a dark past that caused them to be tough. Their killing of others helped them to release the hurt from the hardship they experienced in their past. Their working together now had them in a tight formed family that had each other's back.

Keta wrote a story that was full of drama and action. The plot twist at the end was surprising. Just when I thought they were free and clear, BOOM, something else happened. Both couples used their early life drama to become the people they were. Even though Laura and Beverly had a tough life growing up, they knew it was important to give back to the neighborhood to make sure the kids there had what they needed. That also helped Dax and Luke see another side of the women. Their multifaceted personalities and abilities were what really drew the men to the women. I really enjoyed reading this story. Is this the end of the story? I'm trying to figure who would be next in the series.

Lets start with that fact that I was so disappointed with the end, how it ended for Dax & Laura, I was certain she would soften up and confess her feelings for him but she never did, he chased her until the end, Dax deserved better in my opinion, he should've left her with her pride to be lonely, while everyone else accepted & embrace their happiness, I truly didn't understand Laura's hatred for men...I wouldn't mind a continuation of this series to rectify their situation as well as an update on them, & Beverly & Luke, also D and Galvin never got their HEA, this series still has room to grow...but onto Beverly and Luke, they were an adorable couple, I liked them together, most thought she would end up with D but throwing that curveball was good, her and Luke were right for each other. Overall, this was a good read, in the beginning, due to Laura's character, it was a challenge to continue reading but I kept pushing & was rewarded with Beverly and Luke, as well as the demise of DG6 😆.

Well we get two-for-one love stories in this installment of the Twisted Minds Series and Keta Kendric does not disappoint! Her writing is so damn good, so compelling and interesting. I just love her work. With that said, this is my least favorite of the series. I mean, it's still really good though. That's what I mean about Keta Kendric's writing lol It's just that I think the book should have concentrated on just one couple. It felt disjointed and rushed once we got into Beverly and Luke's romance. I really would have rather her dig deeper with Laura and Dax's story. It was getting so damn good and then we end up meeting Luke and then get into the insta love story between him and Beverly which was kind of saccharine. I was really hoping she would get with D. In fact, I expected it, but it wasn't to be. Anyway, still an entertaining book with lots of adventure.

Swoon!! I loved everything about this, because Keta Kendric just keeps giving us the goods. Talk about very bad men and two bad ass women! This book tells the tale of Megan's two best friends facing the backlash of the gang going up.against DG6, while she and Aaron find their way through the fire. Laura and Beverly are two hellcats with a whole lot of fire. Laura puts poor Dax through the ringer once trouble pops off. And even when there's no life threatening drama, they created some just to chase each other's tails. And Beverly waited for her Mr. Right in the form of huge handsome Luke. Her giant was just the right size for all the woman she is.They were the couple that gave you the warm fuzzies, while Dax and Laura gave off the charts passion. Please we need more!!

WTS!!!!

What in the world didi just read???.... This book was insane but I loved everything about it. Holy smokes this book had sex, psycho's,love and passion all tied in one. Laura and Beverly were the type of women that I would want as friends they'll have your back no matter what. Dax and Luke were amazing. At first I thought it was going to be Beverly and D but I'm so glad it wasn't because she fit more with Luke. I want to see where Laura and Dax relationship goes and I would like another Megan and Aaron story too. I also can't wait to see who D women is going to be because I know she coming. Really amazing story you won't get bored reading this book about folks who are completely nuts!!!!!

This was really good! At first, I was a little frustrated with Laura (even though she kept me laughing)! All of the characters in the entire Twisted Minds Series were damaged from their childhood and had to survive unimaginable obstacles that tore at my heart! My favorite of the fellas is Luke. He is such a nice guy and had such a low self-esteem when it came to women. He and Beverly are totally suited for each other and I am glad that they got their HEA. It seems that Laura and Dax are also getting along. It will be nice if their was a sixth book to show how all the couples are getting along and maybe a survivor of the Mexican gang comes up for revenge just to give another action filled story for our crew. Anyway, this was really good series! Thanks, Keta Kendric!

Twisted Revelations

Love love love this book. I was shocked by some of the secrets that were revealed. Beverly and Laura were not to be played with. Everyone needs loyal friends like this crew. They literally are ride or dies. I'm happy they all got their own versions of a HEA. They deserved it considering a lot of their stories were truly heartbreaking. Keta did it again. Now I'll be sweating her next release. I read it on kindle first but I'm definitely purchasing it so add to my collection with the other books in this series. 5 books in and out the gate she came out swinging and has been consistent every time. #reccommend

Disappointed… spoilers

Based on what went down in book 4 I was really looking forward to learning about Dax and D story. But D gets tossed out another person gets tossed in 😒 ok what’s next. We learn Laura is really a lesbian early on ok let’s see how this plays out. Should’ve left it at book 4, there’s no true epilogue it’s like the book just ends in limbo. Bev is willing to continue a relationship with Luke, but Laura is still running and denying. Like come on!!! How much drama and inconsistency do one story need?

Can I just say wow....I mean wow...so Dax screwed Laura straight....making her rethink the whole Lesbian lifestyle was a phase?....meanwhile DG6 carried on the relentless pursuit of Laura and Beverly...while keeping Ansel,Aaron,Megan and Regina aware and involved..I certainly didn't see the Beverly and Luke thing coming....kept thinking D was the intended love connection....anyway..I am still rooting for Dax and Laura...she is just soooooo bull headed...

I loved everything about this story. I enjoyed Dax but I can’t with Laura. Dax turned me off the second he started to chase after Laura. Yes, she had a past but all of them did. She is no exception to the rule. Dax deserves to be loved.

I loved everything about Luke and Beverly. So far, they’re my favorite couple.

I hope we get to read more about the other characters.

4.5 stars because of Laura 😒🤷🏾‍♀️

This was about two different couples. Dax and Laura started it off shiel Beverly and D played in the background. Then it switches to Beverly and Luke (instalust) but they really didn't have chemistry because it seemed there story was rushed. Neither story had a great ending. This talks about parts of the previous books (which I don't like).

So I have to say that this book 5, compared to the first 4, is the weakest of the bunch. Though there are ALOT of intense things occurring here, in both Parts I and II.. This book gives all the info regarding things we didn't get to witness during the time frames between books 3 and 4, but were just mentioned in passing in those books, that they were happening..

Still, because of certain personality quirks regarding Laura and her bend regarding Dax (who is just 🔥), I couldn't fully get behind their dynamic and coupling the way that I had hoped to.. and since part I is mainly their set up, alongside the secondary plots, it put this at a 4 🌟 rating for me..

Now, let me explain why that .5 was given to get it to that 4 🌟 👇

Luke and Beverly..
🥵🥵🥰🥰 Now, author Keta, for a brief time, in part I hints that something may happen between D and Beverly, when D and Dax are there in Texas protecting them..
But you soon figure out the way the book set up is, and because Laura and Dax are front and center, that D and Beverly are not gonna happen.. It's not until you reach part II where you figure out why that is 😍..

Now, I LOVE the dynamic with Luke and Beverly.. and I was more than pleased with what we got with them.. but because I'm greedy and would have much preferred to be in their space, I wanted way more of them. Which of course I didn't get.. 😕
But if it wasn't for Beverly and Luke, this book would have been just a 3.5 🌟 read for me.

Now, the action and reveals regarding DG6's interest with Beverly/Laura was very suspenseful. Crazy scary at times and shocking 🤯.. So that kept me interested in these outcomes.

Also there are some heartbreaking reveals regarding Laura and Beverly's personal stories, as well Dax and Luke's😭😭😭😭😭

Now, the "Twisted Revelations" in this book, being its namesake and all, are kinda mind bending in their reveals. Some things I just did not see coming.. and when they came I wasn't sure how I felt about them being revealed.. I do know that 2 of those reveals REALLY ticked me off though 😤😤😤

The last 2 chapters and Epilogue lets you know that the Dax and Laura Saga is not over.. Hence the 5.5 Novella of theirs. Which I am on my way to read since I already have the boxset.. So, hopefully their Novella will give me what they just didn't deliver here in this book.. We'll see. Wish me luck 🤞

Based on the first 5 books I would recommend this series.

Oh and I must admit that I do so love the Epilogue here.. My Sis will DEFINITELY get why too, cause what occurred here is TOTALLY our Bend🤣🤣😉😉

twisted revelations

I’ll start by saying I love books in series…with that being said, this book was the last installment in this series, so I had to read it, I have to finish what I start, basically, it took some effort to complete this particular book out of the five, I finally got into it but have to say Laura’s character made it hard to continue or to like her, I thought further in the book she would become likable, that she would soften up but unfortunately not. The men in this series were all likable, especially Dax, he deserved so much better and more, I hoped by the end Laura would express her feelings to him like the other couples did towards each other but he had to chase her until the end and even then she never gave him what he deserved. I was at a loss with Laura’s hatred towards men, I don’t feel it was expressed clearly as to why, she constantly tried to challenge men, personally I wasn’t feeling the idea of her being a lesbian…but she definitely could’ve admitted her feelings to Dax, she didn’t have to say she loved him but could’ve admitted her feelings for him instead of to herself because her actions did not match her so called feelings towards him, at times she said he taught her that help & being cared for by a man didn’t mean she was weak, but it was never expressed in her actions. Now on to Beverly, I liked her character, she was lovable as she was in the book by the other characters, initially I thought her story wasn’t as exciting or complex as the others but as I continued, it definitely grew on me, I actually liked her with Luke, they were meant for each other, at the beginning I was disappointed she didn’t get with D (Derrick) but the transition to her & Luke was a smooth one, I was happy they expressed their love for each other in the end. Overall this book was my least favorite, I struggled to continue in the beginning but pressed on, I was rewarded by the mention of former characters in the previous books, some laughs and Beverly’s HEA, not to mention the demise of DG6 😁.

What a fantastic series and this book was the BOMB!

I read this book so fast I need to re-read it just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Laura, Laura, Laura...she was the funniest, bravest, kind hearted bad ass woman I've read about in a long while. I loved her relationships between Beverly and Dax. Now Laura and Dax, had me in my feelings I so wanted them to stay together as a couple, I even forgot she was a lesbian when she was with Dax their chemistry jumped off the pages.
I was so enthralled with the book, I loved everything about it. I liked how they both were bad ass woman in their own way, even though Bev didn't shout or make a fuss like Laura she was a quite assassin and very mis-judged when in dangerous situations. Luke was sexy as sin and I need to know how their relationships developed.....yes I want more. I loved this book the series and all the deadly characters Ms Kendric has created. This author is phenomenal and if she doesn't win some prizes for this series I would be amazed. Love your work Keta Kendric, you have a beautiful gift of creating beautiful stories please don't ever stop sharing your stories with us!

OMG!

I was reluctant to read this book after a reviewer stated that the story would focus on Beverly and Laura and Dax and D. I was afraid the romance would be off route bc the last book had Laura and Sax paired up and Beverly and Luke paired up. I had a soft spot for D and felt his deserved a story all his own bc he was the technical mastermind behind all three, well now four books. Thankfully the author did not disappoint. Each character was paired off how they should have been and the story line continued from where the last one ended. I wished the epilogue went further into details with Dax and Laura and her finally verbalizing her love for Dax, but we all know she loves him. Lol There were a few chapters where I hated Laura bc she was being too motherly with Beverly by telling her what she should do and this and that. I loved Luke being portrayed as the gentle giant. Lol Now, Ms. Keta needs to get busy with D’s story bc I know it will be epic. Just please, pleas make the female lead/ counterpart equally bad ass and sexy and strong. I can’t wait for his story. I’m sure he other characters will make a cameo, too. Lol #AMustRead

What do you get when you have a silent assassin+ a lesbian+ switchblades +a computer guru vs a drug cartel? A damn good story that’s what! This book shouldn’t be an IR Romance, it should be called a deadly sexy thriller of a book. The action was on from the very beginning of the book. The characters were flawed, funny, annoying and 100 percent bad ass. The story is about two friends Laura and Beverly needing protection from a drug cartel who is looking for their 3rd friend Megan. They went to great lengths to protect her but now they need protection. Enter D & Dax to save the day or so they thought. They certainly get more than they bargained for on this protect the friends at all cost mission. Laura will annoy you to know end with her attitude and reckless behavior but she has a heart of gold for her girls. Beverly is the quiet storm type but make no mistake she is not a push over. This book added a little surprise to the mix and I am here for it. I also learned a new word; priapism, you’re welcome. I enjoyed this book and you will too, so READ THIS BOOK!

Twisted Perfection

I love all the books in this series but Book 5 is my favorite. Although I love all the characters, Dax and Laura is at the top of my list. On the run from the DG6 Laura and Beverly are given protection and support from friends of Aaron and Ansel Knox. D, Dax and Luke are some dark, deadly and sexy men that will risk they own life to protect Laura and Beverly. It's so many dark and twisted secrets to each of their pasts. Dax and Laura are made for each other. The torture Dax can perform on a man would send a normal person running scared but not Laura. I was glad when Dax finally broke most of her guard down. At least she bisexual now. I thought it would have been D and Beverly but he knew he couldn't give her the type of relationship she wanted so they remained friends but when she laid eyes on Luke it was love at first sight. I'm glad the "Magician" and the "Silent Assassin" got their better halves. Great read. Can't wait to see who next on the Twisted team.💌💌

Ok ...what just happened?!? 😆

Maannnn....This convoluted Mission Impossible meets Bond batch of craziness is over the top but I was thoroughly entertained. And this is the first book I read in this series. I got the first two but never read them. I just forgot about them.
Twisted Revelations is a very apt title. There is so much sociopathic ugliness tucked in these pages which unfortunately mimics real life for people on a daily basis. So much of the grime here hit achingly close to home.
The couple's that come together in this series seem to be perfect for one another...The darkness in each seeks out a corresponding one in the other. They are all sort of anti-heroes and lets face it..who doesn't want bad people who do filthy bad things to others and because of money or apathy get away with their dirty deeds; get punished by whatever means necessary? I guess I shouldn't say that huh?!? Well, that will just have to be one of my " twisted revelations". 😁

Yass Twisted Revelations

1st off let me just say that DAMN Laura is Cray Cray ( in a funny mad hatter way),naw but for real I don't think know one but Dax could of handle Laura , The way these women had to survive and still live to tell their stories amazing. This book was well written and thought out... You get to be very bipolar while read this story, the author takes you on this journey down a rabbit hole and back with is story. I so loved this book it is the best one yet. Secondly the pieces finally come in place, because I just kept saying to myself since the 1st and 2nd book I know Megan did not do all that stabbing of two big men alone she just had to have some help but anyway I can't and won't tell anymore. I recommend everyone to read this book and to Start from Book 1. We need more Laura and Dax and also a book on D as well.

WOW!

At first I was crushed to read
that Aaron was dead! So glad
to find out in this story, he's alive!
The big reveal of Megan, Laura &
Beverly adds clarity to Megan's story
that she shared with Aaron in "Twisted
Secrets" . Reading how all four characters
are survivors of horrendous acts during their
childhood not only shows their insurmountable
strength 💪 & self preservation but shows their
strange & undeniable attractions. So glad timid
