CapWar Experience, book two of the CapStone Conspiracy, delves deeper into the intrigue and uncovers treachery everywhere. The candidate is no longer running for office, but he is still running, this time from unimaginable danger. What if the President of the United States was powerless? What if he could trust no one? What if the only escape was death? Hudson Pound thought he could change the world. Then he discovered the world didn’t operate like anything he believed. Now, with no time and no allies, he must unlock the truth, save the economy, and stop the conspirators before they destroy him. Money, power, truth . . . you can’t have them all.
USA TODAY Bestselling Author Brandt Legg uses his unusual real life experiences to create page-turning novels. He’s traveled with CIA agents, dined with senators and congressmen, mingled with astronauts, chatted with governors and presidential candidates, had a private conversation with a Secretary of Defense he still doesn’t like to talk about, hung out with Oscar and Grammy winners, had drinks at the State Department, been pursued by tabloid reporters, and spent a birthday at the White House by invitation from the President of the United States.
At age eight, Legg's father died suddenly, plunging his family into poverty. Two years later, while suffering from crippling migraines, he started in business, and turned a hobby into a multi-million-dollar empire. National media dubbed him the “Teen Tycoon,” and by the mid-eighties, Legg was one of the top young entrepreneurs in America, appearing as high as number twenty-four on the list (when Steve Jobs was #1, Bill Gates #4, and Michael Dell #6). Legg still jokes that he should have gone into computers.
By his twenties, after years of buying and selling businesses, leveraging, and risk-taking, the high-flying Legg became ensnarled in the financial whirlwind of the junk bond eighties. The stock market crashed and a firestorm of trouble came down. The Teen Tycoon racked up more than a million dollars in legal fees, was betrayed by those closest to him, lost his entire fortune, and ended up serving time for financial improprieties.
After a year, Legg emerged from federal prison, chastened and wiser, and began anew. More than twenty-five years later, he’s now using all that hard-earned firsthand knowledge of conspiracies, corruption and high finance to weave his tales. Legg’s books pulse with authenticity.
His series have excited nearly a million readers around the world. Although he refused an offer to make a television movie about his life as a teenage millionaire, his autobiography is in the works. There has also been interest from Hollywood to turn his thrillers into films. With any luck, one day you’ll see your favorite characters on screen.

In the face of assassination danger from NorthBridge, the domestic terror organization, being sworn to the highest office in the land is a high risk game for the chosen candidate, Hudson Pound. He wonders, “when would any of this actually start to feel real?” The sense of accomplishment, as he puts his hand on the bible—“They’d made it,” soon gives way to a nagging sense of insecurity, starting with a sniper’s bullet that gets lodged in the massive columns that support the capitol’s dome, and more looming dangers from there on.
Powerful supporters may well be hiding the truth from him. “For the first time, Hudson hung up on the billionaire.” Hindered by corruptive influences, can the president fight for noble causes? “If we don’t stop this war, it will end civilization.”
The research into every detail is wonderfully done, and its details—such as the decor of the oval office—are seamlessly woven into the story. An intriguing political thriller, presenting us with ‘what if’ questions that relate directly to our lives.
Fast-paced, action-packed “CapWar Experience” the second book in the "Capstone Conspiracy" trilogy doesn’t disappoint as Hudson Pound becomes President only to be faced with a plot to assassinate him at his inauguration. Wanting to free Rochelle Roberts, stop the REMies (the wealthy, powerful elite), defeat the domestic terrorist group NorthBridge, and restore the government’s acceptance, President Pound is faced with an almost insurmountable task. Trusting only a select few he initiates a plan with a former army buddy to hunt for NorthBridge, only to be saddled with the possibility of WWIII with China, a failing economy and CIA leaks as he’s targeted and death seems inevitable.
Brandt Legg weaves together a complex political thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last as the new President struggles to bring change only to be undermined at every turn by billionaires who manipulate world events in their lust for wealth, power and control. With twists and turns in a thrill-ride that has Pound searching for the truth, trying to save the economy and stop the conspiracy that may destroy him, intensity and suspense continually escalate as the plot flows seamlessly to a climax that promises an exciting third book.
Among a host of compelling and intriguing characters is the enigmatic billionaire Arlin Vonner; his stealthy, undercover assassin, Tarka; the intense, wary, master debater President Hudson Pound; and his honorable, patriotic war army buddy Enapay Dranick. It is these personalities and others that infuse tension, and high-energy into the story that seems all too believable in today’s reality.
I continue to enjoy the “Capstone Conspiracy” and can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy.
What an outstanding effort to bring out our thoughts and feelings on politics, division, change, and how blame lies with all sides. This makes you think about who really runs our country. How much control does the corporate world hold with all the election contributions and money poured into the lobbyists? Where does all that money go and what does it buy? I recently had a friend who said he was wearing a sweatshirt from a resort his family had vacationed at 10 years ago, and 3 hours later there was an ad on his Facebook page for that resort. Did the capture the logo through his cell phone camera? or was it just a coincidence? This book does capture that fear and feeling of wondering that so many of us have. Really makes you think deeply and want to be more personally involved in this process.
This is again as all of the authors books seem to be an exciting and fast paced story that has many twists and turns. I feel like it can interest, challenge, and make you think and examine your beliefs and ideas about Washington regardless of you affiliation to party (Democratic/Republican) or ideology (Conservative/Liberal).
This book as the second in the series is the story of what happens after Hudson Pound gets "elected" as POTUS. Follows the continuing story of the struggle to save our country from being controlled by corporations from behind the scenes as the general population deteriorates and the top 1%er's gain almost all the worlds wealth. Characters are built and grow throughout and the story is outstanding!
I have already started book 3 and can't put it down or stop wondering where the story will go, and what other issues it will force me to confront. Spellbinding!!!
In the second novel in the ‘Capstone Conspiracy’ series, ‘CapWar Experience’, author Brandt Legg takes his unwitting protagonist, Hudson Pound, through a journey into hell. Newly elected US President Pound has to face reality as he discovers his personal objectives may not be attainable even from this lofty position. New enemies emerge with deadly consequences, leading to a transformation in Pound that confounds all those around him.
This nail-biting sequel to ‘CapWar Election’ does not disappoint. Legg ramps up the pressure on his protagonist, his friends and family, as nothing seems to be going in their favour in their covert war against their insidious enemies keeping readers glued to the page as events unfold with breakneck speed.
Brandt Legg’s second book of his new trilogy showcases the writer’s skills at weaving a complex, entertaining story whilst providing a good hard look at today’s realities that could easily become tomorrow’s future. Fast-paced action, surprising twists, credible characters, all hallmarks of this exceptional author, abound in this great read. Definitely not one to miss!
I was happy to see this book finally being released.
In this, the second novel in the ‘Capstone Conspiracy’ series, Hudson Pound faces assassination danger from NorthBridge, a terror group determined to get rid of him. New enemies emerge, and even those close to him, may be keeping facts and the truth from him. Is it any wonder, he’s wondering whether his entrance into politics was worthwhile? It certainly had my head spinning.
I admired, and enjoyed the research, political detail, and vast amount of work that went into this book. The writing was incredibly close to realism in today’s political scenes around the world. I sat on the edge of my seat, reading this book. It was not only highly entertaining but also thought-provoking; a story I will think about for a while to come.
Kudos, Mr Brandt, for a fine body of work. Highly recommended 5 stars for this one.
This book is what they call a page turner. Not only did the author continue to introduce memorable characters, but he had kept the feeling of the last book in the series. This book flows with ease and keeps you wanting to read. I found myself saying “Just one more chapter” at the end of every chapter. Spent a couple late nights enjoying this whole series and would recommend to anyone seeking a political thriller.
This is the second book in this series. I started the first book to have something light to read on my kindle where I can adjust the font size - it's hard to read during a migraine cycle but I've learned that with the Kindle I can increase the font which helps. Anyway, I've now finished the second book and have jumped right into the third one. This story is a combination of Scandal, Designated Survivor, Alias and real current political times. I'm pleasantly surprised by the plot twists
This is a cliff hanger book all the way through. From when the President started, his initial problems, how to have people he trusted around him, how to even have a private conversation with his wife or family. His term was riddled with problems and spies who could he trust?? Please read this fantastic book but allow plenty of time as you won't want to put it down until you have finished reading it!!
I loved book one and couldn’t wait to get into the second. CapWar Experience didn’t disappoint. It’s another nail biter. Hudson Pound is now the president. But does he really have any power? Action, intrigue, conspiracy, corruption, this one has it all. The story is well written and excellently researched. Provides plenty of food for thought. I loved it!
This series has me wondering just how much truth there actually may be in this supposed fiction! It is all so unbelievable that there may be more truth than fiction. I usually do not like books without an ending, however I am looking forward to continuing in this series to see where it goes.
This second book in the series continues a superb storyline that is enhanced by fine storytelling and strong character development of personalities introduced previously. The plot smartly leaves you wondering where fiction ends and reality actually begins. We don’t know how much we don’t know!
An exciting second novel of the Presidency and adversaries. Non-stop action with danger, defection, intrigue, manipulation and Devine Intervention all rolled into one powerful story.
This story provides a great mix of recent history and very plausible 'what ifs'! If you don't remember you are reading fiction, it could keep you up at night!
Now President, Hayden is faced with the massive task of running the country . He has growing concerns that he doesn't know who to trust . The elitist group , secretive Remies, are far more powerful than he realized . Vonner keeps holding him back from doing what he wants to do. Turmoil grows through the Northbridge group and the NSI. There are considerable history relations and problems other presidents had faced, fiction per the author . Hayden pulls together a very few people he can trust and they work secretively to try and untangle what they have found . A few typos that do not interrupt the flow of reading . Pretty fantastic .
