Katie Ruth Crewes has spent her life trying to be Good Hope’s good girl. Well, maybe not her whole life. After the scandal involving her parents made high school a nightmare it was only natural Katie Ruth would rebel. But those wild days are in the past and that’s where Katie Ruth intends to keep them. Now she’s devoted to her friends, her volunteer work, and recently to a handsome, young minister.
Pastor Dan Marshall knows a lot about many things, but he knows nothing about women. He was blindsided when his fiancée left him last year and he’s never known how to talk to his little sister, Oaklee, the family hellion. Then there’s Katie Ruth. To Dan, she is the ideal woman: smart, caring, and honest. He knows she’s his perfect partner, he just doesn’t know what to do about it. Katie Ruth does a lot for the church, and Dan can’t risk any impropriety—no matter how much he’s tempted….
When Oaklee suddenly appears on Dan’s doorstep, his well-ordered life receives a well-timed shake up. Perhaps his outrageous sister isn’t as different from him as he believes. She certainly has good advice when it comes to Katie Ruth, who Dan is falling more in love with every day. But Oaklee isn’t the only shock to hit Good Hope. When a secret from Katie Ruth’s past comes to light, she and Dan will have to decide how far they are willing to go to save their piece of paradise.

I did enjoy this book. Sadly this one isn’t one of my fave as I am not religious but I do like the fact it wasn’t all about religion. But it was enjoyable for me. I am very much looking forward to the next book if there is one.
Cindy Kirk pairs the friendly, compassionate Katie Ruth with Pastor Dan Marshall in A Match Made in Good Hope. Dan Marshall’s structured life has taken several detours this past year. His fiancé broke off their relationship, got married and is having a baby. His parents are pressuring him to take a position closer to home and his pink haired sister, Oaklee, dropped out of college and landed on his doorstep. Katie Ruth’s good heart coupled with her past, Dan’s struggles with his career path and feelings for Katie Ruth and Oaklee’s unfiltered conversations and advice make this novel a fabulous read! Loved the conversations between Katie Ruth and Oaklee. Katie Ruth shows compassion towards Oaklee when she needs a friend. And Oaklee’s friendship with the town match makers Katherine, Ruby and Gladys was perfect—it took the four of them to get this couple on the right path! Dan struggled with his faith a bit during the novel. He was passionate about serving his parish but, was tempted to move to a larger congregation for a step up in his career. Dan faced a tough decision did he want more of an administrative role or a leadership role?
A secret from Katie Ruth’s past is revealed and Dan’s reaction surprised me—if he truly believed in the power and strength of compassion and forgiveness why couldn’t he forgive Katie Ruth? I liked that Cindy Kirk didn’t make it easy for this couple and challenged them throughout the story. I liked that the novel took place during Easter which is a time for forgives and rebirth. The themes of forgiveness, faith and trust are woven throughout the story. Oaklee changes when she finds her place in Good Hope; she blossoms during the story as she gains confidence and makes friends in the community. Katie Ruth has suffered and been bullied in the past; her faith and determination got her through the tough times. Dan’s struggles with forgiveness and faith made me realize that he wasn’t perfect; he made mistakes, too. Loved that Cindy Kirk included many of the past characters in this story- especially the scenes with Eliza, Kyle and Cassie. The storyline choices made for an excellent read and I am glad that I was so immersed in the characters that I couldn’t figure out the ending. A Match Made in Good hope has all the feels-great characters, emotional, heartfelt story and the perfect setting.

Katie Ruth Crewes has spent her life, well, most of it, trying to erase the scandals that have rocked her and her family from childhood. She is devoted to the local church and serves as a Youth Minister. She has known Pastor Dan Marshall for years, but as she starts seeing him differently, can an old transgression rear its ugly head and destroy their new relationship? Pastor Dan knows a lot about many things, but not women. He was blindsided when his former fiancée left him last year, and he definitely can’t understand his little sister, Oaklee. When she drops out of school and lands on Pastor Dan’s doorstep, he has to figure out how to relate to her, and help her through this stage of her life. When Katie Ruth is near him, he comes to realize that she means more to him day by day. Will a secret from her past destroy his feelings for her? Or will love, forgiveness and trust send them on the right path? This is the ninth book in the Good Hope Series and it’s another one of my favorites. The theme of this story is forgiveness and reconciliation. We all have done dumb things in our past, but it’s what we do now and in the future that is important. Thank you, Ms. Kirk, for this wonderful read. I hope there is another Good Hope novel coming out soon! I love visiting Good Hope and this was no exception. A sweet romance that blossoms from the friendship of Katie Ruth and Pastor Dan. Katie has past scandals that she needs to put behind her throughout the story. We are introduced to Dan's little sister Oaklee, the hellion but helps Dan moving forward in his relationship with Katie Ruth.
This is a sweet romance with a religious backdrop that interweaves throughout the story. I love reconnecting with previous characters. This book is part of a series, can be read as a stand alone but more enjoyable if you have read previous books. I read through my kindle unlimited.
I think Katie Ruth and Pastor Dan’s story is my favorite Good Hope book to date! Their love story warmed my heart. Ms Kirk is an excellent storyteller. Her gift of making this community seem real is astounding. I want to live in Good Hope and have my own romance.
I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
. Good Hope book 9. This is a great read, a romance between the Good Hope Pastor Dan and the kind and caring youth leader Katie Ruth is definitely a match made in heaven. Being the Pastor’s girlfriend made Katie Ruth happy, but her past had a knack of creeping up on her when least expected, and one unresolved situation had her & Dan shocked. Can he find forgiveness amidst a scandal he never expected.
I always love returning to Good Hope, and I'd like to thank the author and publisher for a review copy of this 9th in the series. As a sidenote, I think any of the books in this series could be read as a stand alone. However, I'm so glad I've been reading in order because I watch for past characters and love getting updates on their lives.
This book focuses on Katie Ann and Dan, the local pastor. I'd guess it is a tricky romance to write, as both characters have a great deal of faith, and the book definitely has some religious parts (but nothing at all overbearing). Katie Ann and Dan are indeed a perfect match, and that was portrayed beautifully. I thought Dan was ok, and I REALLY liked Katie Ann and her compassion for others with all of their mistakes and problems. I also liked meeting Dan's unique sister and I really hope to see her more in future books - she became bosom friends with Gladys, who is about 60 years her senior and one of my favorite side characters.
Good Hope is a small town in Wisconsin. The population is made up of people who are very familiar with one another. There are no secrets.
Katie Ruth has grown up in Good Hope. When she was in middle school, her parents created a scandal that changed her life forever. In her college days, she went to Las Vegas to a bachelorette party and created her own very private scandal. She was a careless young woman who did not consider consequences.
Unfortunately, nothing stays a secret forever.
Since the episode in Las Vegas, Katie Ruth has become a different person. She believes that everything in life brings people to who they are. She volunteers at the church and works at the Y with youth groups. She has become a strong young woman who draws her power from her relationship with God as well as doing good in the world.
Dan Marshall is a young pastor who has come to Good Hope to minister in his first church. He is devoted to his congregation and to helping them reach God. His life consists of working to do the very best he can for his church.
When Katie Ruth and Dan get to know one another, there is an attraction on a physical level as well as an emotional one. They work together well and enjoy being together. Shortly, both of them are aware they can picture a future with one another.
This is part of a series about Good Hope. Although it helps the enjoyment if you have read the previous books, this book can stand alone. The past events and relationships are explained. But, reading earlier books will add a great deal to the reader's enjoyment.
This is the story of Katie Ruth and Dan but it is also a story of the town of Good Hope. The citizens care for one another. They are protective of their own. When someone is in any kind of trouble, they gather around to support in any way possible. Family is important and most people feel they are part of a very large family.
Katie Ruth and Dan run into relationship problems. Just as in life, there are ups and downs and some difficulties to overcome. They are treading lightly with one another, and when challenges arise, it takes some time to come to a solution. There is a tenderness and sweetness to their relationship. They are both very conscious of being honorable and above board. After all, Dan is a minister in a small town.
I admired both Katie Ruth and Dan and their willingness to look at the world in a positive manner. This is about a Christian minister and someone who works in his church. But, it is not a sermon nor is it preachy.
It is a love story with a happily ever after. Getting to the happily ever after is a wonderful journey filled with family love, babies being born, kindness and a good amount of humor.
Ms Kirk has created a story which brings the reader a sense of optimism. If only we could all live in a place as warm and comforting as Good Hope.
I received this book from the publisher. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are completely my own.
This is a very sweet and charming story about Katie Ruth Crewes and Dan Marshall who is the Pastor at the First Christian Church in Good Hope. Katie Ruth also serves at the church by handling the Youth Programs. The romance between this couple evolves as they spend more time together. There is no doubt that they are attracted to one another. They also get a little help from the town’s matchmakers, Gladys, Ruby and Katherine. Pastor Dan’s sister, Oaklee, shows up at his doorstep one day. She livens up the town with her quirky and outspoken ways. She joins forces with the town’s elderly matchmakers to bring Pastor Dan and Katie Ruth together. Katie Ruth and Oaklee form a special friendship. Oaklee refers to Katie Ruth as the sister of her heart and is rooting for her brother and Katie Ruth to make a permanent match. The beautiful message in this story is that we all make mistakes but there is forgiveness and acceptance and a chance for new beginnings. Katie Ruth shared with Pastor Dan and Oaklee how as a teen she suffered embarrassment and humiliation when the fact that her parents were swingers became public knowledge. She admitted that she herself had made mistakes while in college. She moved on in her life after making peace with her past. She is a person that radiates kindness, love and compassion. Cindy Kirk gives us a sweet love story that has some angst and tender moments. The story kept me engaged and eager to see this beautiful couple overcome obstacles and have their love prevail. I enjoyed once again visiting Good Hope and getting to see the other couples that have become good friends. They have each other’s backs and they were there for Dan and Katie Ruth thru the good moments and the bad. I loved this book and the happy ending for Dan and Katie Ruth! “A Match Made in Good Hope” by Cindy Kirk, is a wonderful story of Faith, Trust & Love. Katie Ruth Crewes has a satisfying life, she has job she enjoys, she volunteers for the church youth group, and a heart that looks to be filled with happiness and love but is hindered by her parents past and a secret of her own that she’s not proud of. At a Valentine’s Party, Katie Ruth is overheard mumbling to herself by Dan Marshall. Make that Pastor Dan Marshall, her parish’s minister. An offhanded comment by an old acquaintance takes Katie Ruth and Dan to a quiet corner so she can explain a family history that’s followed her for years. For Dan and Katie Ruth the evening has passed as they’ve enjoyed the conversation and the company. Dan finds his attraction to Katie Ruth is strong and as the parish minister his sense of propriety is foremost. She has yet to tell him her most embarrassing secret, a secret that she hoped would stay in the past. After dropping out of school, Dan’s younger sister Oaklee soon arrives on her brothers’ doorstep, her parents refusing to let her come back home till she straightens out her college plans. Oaklee also has her own troubles and welcomes the friendship of Katie Ruth and the non-judgment living with Dan brings her. This is a story of young people, some bad choices, one by deception and one by searching where they fit. I keep thinking that all young people should read a few books such as this before they make life altering decisions that can’t be reversed. Where there’s trust there is friendship and love. I found this particular story to be one of Ms. Kirk’s most inspirational and hopeful. "I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it." I enjoyed reading “A Match Made in Good Hope” and am looking forward to the next story in this series.
Cindy has done it again. I love this book, not only because it is based in Good Hope, but because it is about a pastor who learns that being a man of god is to forgive and accept what is in front of him. I know my headline has Oaklee's name in it, but note that the story is not about her, but she is makes a good part of it.
This is about Dan and Katie Ruth. He is the pastor, who was raised with a stern father and loving but timid mother. Dan has a younger sister, Oaklee, who I love dearly in this book as she is so misunderstood. Katie Ruth is a young woman who hasn’t had an easy life but doesn’t blame anyone even her free-spirited parents for her mistakes. Although she has a scarred reputation due to her parents in Good Hope; she walks with her head held high as is herself.
She doesn’t play much of a victim, but she makes sure to always do good and not judge others. Pastor Dan likes Katie Ruth, but he is also seeking to expand his career, and this is something that Katie Ruth doesn’t want to jeopardize, so she tends to keep some of her past away from her present/future until the past comes to seek her. This is where Pastor Dan forgets he is a man of god. Does this allow them to be one as they both wish? This story is about forgiveness and acceptance of past mistakes. Learning that bigger adventures are not always what brings you satisfaction in life. Not going into much more details, I loved all of the charters played here, Gladys, Lindsay, Oaklee, and even Mitch and Edna, each of them played a pretty good part and it showed how this community is always together. I love to see if something is going to come out for someone else there maybe Oaklee??? I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I took my time with this book. Honestly I didn't find this book in the series as easy to connect with as I had with others. I grew up in a small town and attended a church similar to the one described as far as personalities go within the church and even the events in town similar to those within my hometown. That being said I didn't like Katie Ruth the first half of the book. When Pastor Dan Marshall asked her out she said she understood the not being alone part but then it felt like she pushed the issue and made him uncomfortable.... I felt like she kept doing things that made Dan feel uncomfortable. How that happens in the beginning and still translates to love im not sure. Then we have Oaklee. Quite honestly I think I could have done without her presence in the book when it came to the matchmaking. There was a scene where she tells Dan what to do with regards to another date with Katie Ruth. This being after a date where Katie Ruth got upset over his sister's possible involvement with the date they were on. Not listening and going against the feelings of a date. This also made me question the relationship part of this book. It felt more like an arrangement of sorts versus a falling in love. The ending where Katie Ruth turns down a date then to turn around and accept a proposal again nor into that personally. I get where the author Ms. Kirk was going with it as far as Dan proposal could be taken as him saying that he stsnds by her and accepts her etc but still didnt feel right. Overall i give it a 3 out of 5 stars as the hometown feeling of the series was there but the love wasn't for me. *** I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.****

I am a huge fan of Cindy Kirk, especially her Good Hope series, but when I saw that he latest book centered around the Good Hope Pastor, Dan Marshall and the pseudo"gossip columnist", Katie Ruth Crewes, I was a little underwhelmed. Boy, was I wrong. A Match Made in Good Hope turned out to be one of my favorites in the series, just behind the original stories of the four Bloom sisters. Both Pastor Dan and Katie Ruth have appearances is all of the previous books, but they have never been developed too much, to the point of making them interesting. I will be honest, the picture I had in my mind of Katie Ruth differed greatly from the description given in this book. Pastor Dan had always seemed to be calming presence, but getting to see the more human side of him was enjoyable. This story was very sweet, but also had a little shock value. Normally I can guess what the big "reveal" will be or what the main character is hiding, but for some reason I was a little blindsided by this one - and I liked it! The scenarios in the story were fairly believable, and I truly wasn't sure how things would play out. I found myself understanding both points of view, so it was difficult to know who to side with. Kirk's characters are always very likable, flaws and all; everyone has their redeeming qualities, so you want to see everyone happy in the end. As always, it was wonderful to get an update on all of the previous characters that we followed in prior books, and also see who may be getting set up for their own story in the future. Whenever I finish a Good Hope book I feel like I am leaving behind a neighbor. It is definitely the type of place I would love to live. Note: I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher to voluntarily review.
I love all the Good Hope novels. For such a great town there are a lot of bad and/or judgmental people, but also lots of supportive and tolerant people (kind of like real life). As before, people prominent in previous novels make appearances here, providing continuity and continuing their stories.
This novel focuses on Pastor Dan Marshall and Katie Ruth Crewes. Pastor Dan was engaged at one time to Lindsay, who broke off the engagement. But Katie Ruth seems like a better match, as both Katie Ruth and Dan share strong religious backgrounds and views on life, which Lindsay did not.
Dan’s parents are only grudgingly supportive of Dan’s pastoring, and pressure him to move back home and take a job in a larger (read, “more prestigious”) church. Dan’s younger sister Oaklee, who rebels against her parents, shows up at Dan’s door, troubles by events at her college. Dan is supportive, but Oaklee will not confide in Dan.
Katie Ruth’s parents “alternative lifestyle” came out when she was in high school, and she has been dogged by the “sins of the parents” ever since. When Dan finds out, he kind of bails on Katie Ruth. Will Dan judge Katie Ruth for who she is, not for her parents, and ignore disapproval from some other members of the Good Hope community? Will Katie Ruth forgive Dan’s abandonment?
I like the religious themes in this book, the importance of judging people on their own merits and behaviors, and not on gossip and actions of others, and forgiveness of self and other people.
This book is an excellent addition to the Good Hope series, and I eagerly await more stories.

Another great trip to Good Hope. This book was focused on Katie Ruth and Pastor Dan. Katie Ruth has always been around, but generally a background character. It was nice to see her story and understand more about her. Good Hope is a small town and one that doesn't forget, but one that is always there as well. I happen to live in a small town like that and it's fun to see how real the place can be. Pastor Dan has been around, but finally getting to really see him and get to know him and his family was very exciting. To know that he wasn't always going to be a Man of God. He shows that even he can change. Meeting Dan's parents was interesting, but his sister Oaklee is such a treat and so different. I can't wait to learn more about her. Katie Ruth and Dan must over come a lot through out this book, but as always Cindy Kirk does an amazing job weaving the tale so we feel like part of the story and not just a reader. I think my only criticism of the book is how Dan acts towards the end of the book, but I also think it's very human the way he acts and after meeting his dad I can see why he is that way. I hope we see more of Dan and Katie Ruth and see them grow and blossom like the other characters in the Good Hope series. I never hide the Ami is by far my favorite followed by Eliza. They aren't in the book as much as I would have hoped, but what is there is a great treat to see where they are now. As always I can't wait for my next chance to get back to Good Hope and see how the next lucky couple might be. I love going back to Good Hope and catching up with how my favorites have been doing lately. The latest visit to Good Hope gives us Pastor Dan & Katie Ruth's story.
Katie Ruth seems like your usual small town girl, and for the most part she is. She does have some secrets; and these secrets play a huge role in how her eventual future shapes up. Pastor Dan has a sister - and what fun she is! Oaklee fits right in Good Hope, and makes close friends of her own, including the town's resident matchmakers. No one deserves a second chance at love more than dear Pastor Dan. Will he get it right this time?
What I loved most about this book is it's overriding theme of forgiveness. We all could use a touch more forgiveness in our current lives. It is so easy for people to pass judgment, when sometimes, all we need to give is a helping hand, a listening ear and a kind word.
This story is also all about finding out where one belongs and making the choices that go along with it. Almost always, people are attracted by the next, best, shiny thing. Sometimes, in the pursuit of that shiny thing, we forget how this will touch other people's lives. A little bit more consideration and thoughtfulness really goes a long way.
I love hanging out in Good Hope with my favorite characters, and this book gave me just that. I cannot wait to find out who gets matched up next!
*I was sent an ARC of this book but this review and all opinions herein are my own, and this review is submitted voluntarily.
Katie Ruth is great with the youth at church. Pastor Dan is a good man and great pastor to his congregation. Katie Ruth has been judged because of her parents actions years ago. They left the area and their are still some who judge. Dan is recovering from a failed engagement, even though they were never really meant to be together. The church ladies see a good chance to match make. Dan has a younger sister his parents are looking for and his Dad will not allow to come home. Oaklee does not live up to her Dad's standards. Dan happens to find her on his doorsteps and lets her stay. He and Katie Ruth do start dating and things are going along fine. Dan has applied to a larger church close to his mom and dad. Katie Ruth is not sure that she would want to leave Good Hope. Oaklee wants Dan and Katie Ruth to be happy so she does her best to help them along. While Dan is away at his interview the past comes knocking at Katie Ruth's door. Years prior she had a Vegas weekend that now has followed her. She got married on a whim and thought it was not valid. Surprise it is. When Dan finds out he is upset and doesn't want to give her a chance. People in town find out and she is given a hard time over it. Oaklee and some of her friends stand by her side regardless. When Dan comes back and realizes what has happened he takes time to think about what he has done. He cannot preach forgiveness and acceptance if he isn't doing that himself. His heart truly belongs to Katie Ruth . This book was given to me as a ARC to give my honest review
A Match made in Good Hope is a sweet entertaining clean story. Katie Ruth has made a life for herself in the town she grew up in that she’s proud of. She just doesn’t have someone to share it with. She’s been through a lot in her past - a scandal of her parents making, bullying in high school & a couple of wild years in college. Now that she’s placed her life in God’s hands, she’s settled & content. As the relationship between Pastor Dan & her begins to deepen, her past interferes.
Pastor Dan discovered his calling in college. He disappointed his father when he chose the ministry over a career. Now his sister is the one his parents are disappointed with. Oaklee has been struggling to figure out her path & has shown up to stay with her brother. Dan isn’t sure how to talk to her & turns to Katie Ruth for help. As they grow closer, Dan discovers he’s up for a new position. When Katie Ruth’s past comes up, how will he react? Can their relationship survive it?
This was an interesting story with several lessons to be learned. It’s also symptomatic of life in small gossipy towns. Everyone has an opinion & the entire story isn’t necessary before they rush to judgement. However, there are always those that have your back & support you. I love that the lessons aren’t confined to everyone else & Dan is included. He needed to learn forgiveness, trust & the importance of people. I was happy to see that Katie Ruth wasn’t a doormat that lowered her head in shame. When times were hard, she kept her head held high. I really enjoyed reading this story.
I have read many many series that I have enjoyed and Good Hope is one of them. I love when a series includes people from previous books to let us know what's going on with them and we get to watch them grow. A Match Made in Good Hope was a good story but I enjoyed a few of the previous books better. I did love Katie Ruth but Dan wasn't doing much for me. It wasn't because he was a pastor even thou some may feel that way but as a person he didn't have the personality to match Katie Ruth. I felt he should have been a little less serious or maybe joked around a bit with his friends. He was always on the job much like a police officer would be but even a cop would let down his hair a bit. I'm not saying he has to commit any crimes but there's no law against having fun. I felt he was a bit hard on Katie Ruth when her "secret" came to light. It was an honest mistake made by a very young girl not made by the woman she has become. My favorite characters in this series are the matchmakers. Gladys, Ruby and Katherine make me laugh out loud sometimes but with this book they've dragged Oaklee in. She's a great addition to their group and she'll keep Good Hope hopping as well as her brother. I can't wait to see her grow and find her own book. I can't wait for more in this series.

Katie Ruth Crewes grew up in Good Hope and has had to overcome many obstacles throughout her life, including her parent's indiscretions while she was in high school. After her parents moved away, Katie was able to rebuild her reputation and make a life for herself in Good Hope. Katie loves children and works at the Y and volunteers as her church's youth leader. It so happens that this is Pastor Dan Marshall's church.
Over the last year, Pastor Dan's life has been steeped in turmoil. First, his fiance broke off their engagement, fell in love with another man and is pregnant. Dan's parents are pressuring him to leave his church in Good Hope and take a position at a larger church close to his parent's home. And then there is Oaklee. Oaklee has dropped out of college and shows up at Dan's because her parents have kicked her out of their house. Dan loves his sister but is concerned about how the people of Good Hope will react to his wild and crazy sister.
Katie Ruth and Oaklee become fast friends and she introduces her to the town's matchmakers, Ruby, Gladys, and Kathryn. Oaklee becomes quick friends with these older, eccentric ladies and joins in on their matchmaking fun.
Will the four be able to make love blossom between Dan and Katie Ruth or will fate deal them a different hand when a secret from Katie Ruth's past shows up?

We finally catch up to what has been happening to workaholic Pastor Dan Marshall after his fiancée Lindsey broke up with him for Owen Vaughn. Lindsey is now married and pregnant, and Dan has realized that he and Lindsey never were truly in love. And he has been much too busy to date. At a Valentine’s Day party Katie Ruth who has been the volunteer youth leader in his church, is ditched by a former visiting classmate whom she has brought with her so that he can see old friends. Pastor Dan, noticing her alone, approaches and the two of them have a wonderful time together. It is the first time that Dan has realized how beautiful Katie Ruth is and how much they have in common. Gladys, Good Hope’s notorious matchmaker and her two buddies who do not miss a trick, see how well Dan and Katie Ruth are suited for each other, and now Katie Ruth and Dan are their new matchmaking project. As with any new or changed relationship, there are unforeseen problems. How they deal with their own past insecurities, youthful mistakes, family reputations and influences, makes for a very interesting story. It was so encouraging to read and cheer them on as they met each challenge. I consider myself fortunate to have received a copy from the publisher to read and review. Another sweet Good Hope romance!
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. I love returning to Good Hope and catching up with my favorite characters. In this installment we get to follow Katie Ruth Crewes and Pastor Dan Marshall.
Katie Ruth is a devout Christian woman who is involved in her church’s youth ministry and her community. Does she have some regrets from her past? Of course, don’t we all? She lives her life beyond reproach. She has some strong feelings for Pastor Dan and is quite surprised when she discovers that he had feelings for her as well.
Dan Marshall has made a few mistakes in his past that he hopes not to repeat. He is quite attracted to Katie Ruth and admires how she handles herself. He likes to show no hint of impropriety in his personal life. His sister, Oaklee, shows up on his doorstep and he tries to help her through a difficult time in her life.
When a secret from Katie Ruth’s past comes to light Dan is thrown for a loop. How he handled this information leaves a lot to be desired. Can Katie Ruth and Pastor Dan move beyond this? Can forgiveness happen in time? Read on my friends and live a little vicariously in the little town of Good Hope. I can’t wait for the next installment!
Good Hope is one of my favorite fictional towns and it is always fun to go back and read more about the residents of this quaint town. Katie Ruth and Pastor Dan are two characters that seem to just miss out on the love connection, but they finally get their moment to shine in this latest installment of the book. On the one hand, it's always a pleasure to see side characters fleshed out and hear more of their story, but as Good Hope books go, this wasn't my favorite. I enjoyed the way things developed and overall it was a good read. It felt that there was never any real big conflict, however. Of all the Good Hope books, Dan and Katie Ruth's story felt as though we knew that would always end up together and nothing major was truly holding them apart. The decisions and situations that come up were not terribly high stakes and they don't have to be for the book to be good. However, as I read, this book didn't compel me forward in the same manner that the previous books had.
Again, I always love coming back to Good Hope, meeting new residents and seeing how old friends have fared. This time around, it was a luke-warm reception. I was given an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love a good story. I especially love a good love story. Cindy Kirk outdid herself with this Good Hope book. I know I have said previous books of hers were my favorite, but this is my new favorite. A Match Made in Good Hope is a perfect story about two imperfect people, one being the town minister and the other the youth director at the church. Cindy does such a wonderful job with her characters. They are so likeable, even when they do dumb stuff. I can relate to them on so many levels. I love how they make mistakes and say the wrong thing. I love how even though it is a love story there are still highs and lows in the process.
Katie Ruth has a bit of a past she draws experience from that helps her minister to youth. Dan admires her exuberance and her faithfulness to ministry. Will they be able to match their common interests and goals into a viable relationship?
This is the ninth book in the series. I think it is possible to read it without reading the others, but it would be more enjoyable to have the background knowledge the previous books will give. And they are worth reading too! Cindy has a couple of other series out, but Good Hope has a big place in my heart. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings for the residents.
For the most part, I've loved the Good Hope series and I'm a definitely a Cindy Kirk fan. The series builds with characters from previous books and it's nice to see them again; it's like visiting with old friends. I liked the spirit and intent of this book, but, honestly, it fell a little short for me. I found it didn't hold my attention like others did.
Pastor Dan and Katie Ruth's romance was a fairly predictable one in that there was an obvious attraction and they both are living their exemplary lives in the church. Pastor Dan was hesitant with trust due to a breakup in a previous book. Everyone has a past and it seemed that Dan held Katie Ruth's against her. Again, he's got some trust issues, but I didn't expect that from him. Oaklee, Dan's sister, leaves college and comes back to Good Hope and brings with it some drama butting into Dan's relationship. Oaklee seemed more like an immature teen than a college student in her 20s.
This is a love story, but there's no steamy romance or angst. That said, it is a sweet story and I think it's worth the read. It wasn't a solid 4, but closer than a 3 for me.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
A sweet story of redemption, finding faith in oneself, and growth. Pastor Dan has a past he must leave behind, and a family he must contend with. Katie Ruth has one mistake she must overcome. With the help of each other, both learn to trust in love again. After a few hurdles, of course. Kirk always makes her characters work for their happily-ever-after. Luckily in Good Hope there are plenty of neighbors, family, and friends to help any young couple find the love they deserve. Add in the match-making trio who are joined by Dan’s wild-child, free-spirited sister, Oaklee, and things are about to get interesting for Dan and Katie Ruth.
As usual, the reader gets to see their favorite Good Hope friends in each new story. This is what I love about small-town romance and about Kirk—her talent to make all her characters into real-life friends for her readers and bring them back again and again so we can see how they are doing—just like the rhythm of real life. I can’t wait to see which Good Hope citizen gets his or her happily-ever-after next.
I was given an arc in order to give a fair and honest review of this book.
Pastor Dan and Katie Ruth have interacted due to Katie Ruth’s work with the church youth group. One day Dan looks up and realizes that Katie Ruth is not only kind, but beautiful too. He wonders to himself how he never noticed before. They start dating and fall in love. A mistake from Katie Ruth’s early 20s comes to light and Dan doesn’t handle it well or stand by Katie Ruth. She considers them to be broken up. Dan comes back from his 2 weeks away from interviewing at another church to attend a wedding shower for Cassie and Krew. After the shower he asks to speak to Katie Ruth so they go for a short walk. Dan apologizes and Katie Ruth accepts his apology, but as far as she is concerned they are just clearing the air for closure. Dan realizes how arrogant he was to think that Katie Ruth would just take up where they left off and he has some work to do to get back in her good graces again.
I received an ARC from the publisher for reviewing the book. Can’t wait for the next Good Hope book. I wonder who the 3 matchmakers will help to match next.

In the previous books in the Good Hope series, Katie Ruth was just the editor of the local gossip newsletter. She was just this character in the periphery that we didn't get to learn much about. I am glad that she got her opportunity to be at the center of the story as her character has a lot more depth than I had anticipated.
While I expected a stronger faith-based theme through the story given that the male character is a pastor, the amount of it still took me by surprise, mainly because it mostly came from Katie Ruth's perspective. This is not a bad thing, just different than what I am used to from this series.
I loved meeting the new character of Oaklee and have a feeling that the author has plans for her in future installments.
Overall, this is just another feel-good book in a series about a town I have come to love with yet another lesson of overcoming our past and not letting it define us.
I received an advanced review copy and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I was looking forward to this book even though the cover did not inspire me. I love Cindy’s Good Hope series, of which this one is the latest instalment. I always look forward to returning to Good Hope and finding out what everyone is up to now. This however, is not my favourite. I loved Katie Ruth and Dan’s story but I found the book heavy on the religious content. I know Dan is a Pastor and Katie Ruth is an integral part of the Church and it’s life but it was a little too much for me.
Having said that I did enjoy their story with its ups and downs and finding out little bits about the other residents of Good Hope that we have met previously.
This book is one of a set but can be read independently. To me though, this is not the book to start with. Start at the beginning and enjoy them all as they are a fabulous read. Cindy Kirk is an excellent writer that can tell a fab story that keeps you wanting more and I would highly recommend both Cindy and The Good Hope series.
Dan is the First Christian Church Pastor who dated Lindsay in the previous book. Katie Ruth is the Youth Group Leader at the Church. Dan's sister Oaklee leaves college and stays with Dan. He and Katie Ruth are the next couple to be put together by the Older Ladies of the community. Dan is invited to interview at a larger Church 4 hours from Good Hope, in the same city his parents live in. He wants Katie Ruth to go with him if he is offered the Associate Pastor position. We find some news about Katie Ruth's past, Dan is upset that she didn't tell him, when she didn't even know about it. They have a falling out. They each pray about it and are pleased with their feelings about it. Dan turns down the new Church, He decides to stay in Good Hope. They talk about what the other did during their falling out, and become a couple again. This is a clean romance, all they do is kiss. They talk about sex, but no one has any in this book. I love the Good Hope series, I hope she keeps it going. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
